In 2005, Chad Hurley and Steve Chen, two adventurous PayPal employees decided to create a video sharing website now known as YouTube. They wanted people to be able to view, upload, and share their own content with the world. At their headquarters, above a pizzeria and Japanese Restaurant, Hurley and Chen never imagined how popular and helpful their site would be. The video content sharing giant now has 300 hours of video uploads a day! One of those people who wanted to give a piece of their creative side to the world is Zoe Elizabeth Sugg. A beauty YouTuber with 12,098,439 subscribers and 1,063,823,375 views as of January 24 2018.

Zoe Elizabeth Sugg, more commonly known by her YouTube handle Zoella, is a Vlogger, YouTuber, and an author. In February 2009, Zoella was an apprentice for an interior design company when she launched her blog, titled Zoella. She started to work for the British Clothing Retailer, New Look, while she expanded her blog into a YouTube Channel. The YouTube channel started being called zoella280390. The channel consisted of videos about Fashion, Beauty Hauls, and her Favorite Products. By the end of 2009, she had over a thousand followers.

Zoella was awarded many awards from 2010-2016. 2014 was her busiest year because she was named the first “Digital Ambassador” for Mind, the Mental Health Charity, awarded the Radio 1 Teen “Best British Vlogger”, was a guest on This Morning as she spoke about social anxiety, and launched Zoella Beauty, a range of Beauty Products. The Metro called the Bath and Beauty collection, “Biggest beauty launch of the year”. She wasn’t finished yet! November, she also released her first novel Girl Online.

Tip 10 - How To Have The Best Curls

Zoella uses the Nu Me Lustrum 5-in-1 Curling wand for many reasons. The top reasons she gave was because it gets hot fast, the curls last longer, and it gives it more definition. She also laughs as she says that it comes with a heat glove but she had no idea what she did with it!

Zoella shows the steps that she does to get her festive curls. She puts her hair in sections. She suggests using a scrunchy because it isn’t as tight as other hair bands which leaves kinks at the top of your head if it is too tight. Any pieces that are near your face, curl away. For a beachy look, leave a tiny bit of hair not curled at the bottom (This also saves your fingers from being burned without your glove on). She leaves it on the wand for twenty-ish seconds. The rest of her hairpieces, that were not by her face, she curled the opposite direction (towards her face). When you are done with curling your hair, run your fingers through the hair a little so it is not a static curly and gives some volume.

According to the Nu Me website, it includes five 100% tourmaline ceramic barrels. These barrels have far infrared heat technology that emits negative ions to add shine and that fights against frizz with every use. It includes 19mm, 25mm, 32mm, 25mm Cone, and Pearl Barrels.

Product 10 - Real Technique Brushes: The Sponge

Zoella loves using her Real Technique Sponge to put on her foundation because it gives her a better and even finish.

According to www.realtechniques.com, it is latex free and ideally, you would use it with Liquid Foundation. To get the smooth and enhanced finish, they used a revolutionary foam that helps evenly blend make up. Using a dabbing motion with the rounded sides, you are able to blend large areas of your face. To cover blemishes and imperfections, you would use the Precision Tips. When you go to contour around your eyes and nose, you would use the flat parts of the sponge. For a dewy glow, damp the sponge. For a full coverage, use the sponge dry.

It is highly suggested to replace your sponge every 1-3 months depending on your usage.

Tip 9 - How To Do Your Eyes When Using Bold Or Bright Lipsticks

You don’t want to have bright eyes when also using a bright lipstick. Zoella shows this in her Everyday Festive Glamour Look.

She primes her eyelids with Too Faced Shadow Insurance Eye Shadow Primer. She then uses four colors from the Clover Palette by Too Faced. The colors used include, Cuteness Over Load, Puppy Eyes, Paw Print, and Cuddle Buddy. She then does a classic cat eye flick using Stila Stay All Day Water Proof Liquid Liner. Zoella suggests that doing a cat eye is best when doing bold lips because it adds definition without being too bold. She finishes it all off with some Smith and Cut’s Lash Dance.

Product 9 - Rimmel Foundation

Zoella loves using her Rimmel London Foundation.

According to www.rimmellondon.com the smooth and weightless texture blends with skins real tone and doesn’t mask it. It’s mistake-proof and invisible foundation makes skin look healthier and visibly perfected. Skin feels hydrated with the 24-hour moisture complex it has. Soft-focus powers help reduce pores, imperfections, and dark circles.

Eugene Rimmel and his father started the House of Rimmel in 1834. Back then, perfumes were called vinegar and mascara was made with mercury. Eugene created the first non-toxic mascara.

Eugene died in 1890. By then, he had pioneered hygiene products and cosmetics. He turned beauty into an art.

Rimmel to this day keeps pushing boundaries and innovating to re-shape convention, create new looks, and give their customers the tools needed to explore new versions of themselves.

Tip 8 - How To Do Your Eyebrows

Zoella says she suggests using Benefits products because they have ten different products that are available in six different shades. She suggests that if you are unsure of how to shape your eyebrows to see a professional so they can teach you. If you are in the UK you can go to a Benefits BrowBar or Boutique where they also offer tinting, add colour and fullness, and waxing services to shape define and tidy your brows.

When Zoella starts shaping her eyebrows, she uses the Brow Zings Kit. She then fills the gaps using Precisely, My Brow Pencil. She uses this pencil because it has a tiny precise point, which creates natural looking strokes and a spoolie on the other end, which is great to brush your brows. She ends by placing the 24hr Brow setter. The 24hr Brow Setter is a clear gel that holds brows in place, keeping them neat and tidy.

Product 8 - Revlon Photo Ready Powder

Zoella says when she uses this it leaves her skin looking flawless.

According to the Revlon website, Revlon Photo Ready Powder eliminates shine and evens skin tone for perfected skin in any light. The micro-refined, ultra-lightweight texture makes it virtually undetectable and you totally luminous.

Revlon has been around since 1932. Brothers Joseph and Charles along with a chemist CR Lachman started with a revolutionary nail enamel that came in other colors besides red. Women were wearing it even on the cover of Vogue. In the 1950’s, the Revlon Fire & Ice lipstick and nail enamel came out in magazines showing American Women that they could be as glamorous everyday as any starlet.

Tip 7 - How To Have Festive Red Lips

Zoella uses the ColorPop Liquid Lip in Creeper for her festive Red Lip look. The reason she goes for a matte liquid lip when using a bright or bold lip is because it stays in place a lot longer than the traditional cream lipstick.

She also uses Charlotte Tilbury Matte Revolution Lipsticks. It's a line of matte lipsticks that create wider, fuller lips in rich berry tones. You don't need a lip brush when putting it on because of the square-angled tip. The lipstick is in a beautiful rose-toned gold tube too! It goes on soft and moisturizes your lips with every usage.

Zoella loves creamy nudes and pinks. Creamy color ends up on her chin or cheeks. If you are like her, she suggests that if you go for color, use a matte lip to prevent it going all over the place.

Product 7 - Nu Me 5 In 1 Curling Wand

Zoella uses the Nu Me Lustrum 5-in1 Interchangeable Curling wand to make her hair curly for her festive look. She stated that it comes with a glove because it gets hot fast. Since she misplaced hers, she suggested that you leave a small piece of the bottom of your hair off the wand for two reasons. One, this saves your fingers from being burned and two it gives the ending of your curls a more dream look.

The website also suggests that you spray your hair with Nu Me Watch Me Werk Thermal Heat Protectant. You spray this on your dry hair prior to using the wand to protect your strands.

Tip 6 - How to add Blush

For an everyday festive glam look, Zoella uses a Spectrum Mean Girls Brush to contour her face with Benefit Hoola. She taps the brush to get excess blush off of it and then gets to work! She enjoys two different products to add to her cheeks. First she starts with Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush in Incandescent Electra and then places Fenty Beauty Highlighter/ Blusher in Chic Freak.

You may ask, what is the purpose of blush? Well, it helps give your skin a healthier looking glow. It also helps make your make up look polished and all together.

Not sure what kind of blush to use? You should always go with a color that is close to your natural flush color. So for fair complexions that would be a rosey-pink blush. For medium complexions you should go for a peach or a coral. And for darker skin tones you look amazing in a vibrant orange or berry shade.

Product 6 - A Whole Lot of Love collection

This was a collection of things Zoella had either received or bought herself. She says that she loved how pretty all the packaging was and that the products can be used for more than just Valentine’s Day. A few of her personal favorites out of the collection include the Two Faced Eyeshadow Palette and blush palette, the Prismology Massage Candle (Which she thinks smells divine), Ciate Liquid Velvet Lipsticks, Meri Meri Love Tokens and Biscuiteers Biscuits.

The following are the whole collection of things she suggests: Lush Lots of Love Box, Prismology Massage Candle, Two Faced Love Flush Blush Palette, Two Faced Chocolate Bon Bons Palette, YSL Kiss Palette, Zoella Beauty Favourite Things Bag, Zoella Beauty Solid Fragrance, Kiko Love Elixr Face Powder, Lush the Kiss, Kiko Tue Love Nail Lacquer, Meri Meri Arrows Garland, Meri Meri Love Tokens, Look Fantastic Valentines #LF Loves Box, Kiko Eyes of Love Mascara and Kajal Kit, Kiko Endless Love Lip Pencil, Kiko Endless Love Lipstick, Ciate Liquid Lipsticks, and the Biscuiteers Biscuits.

Tip 5 - For a Cover Up Combo

Zoella used a base combination, which includes Fenty Beauty ProFilt’r Soft Matte Longwear Foundation and the Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer. The concealer brightens under the eyes and hides blemishes. Together they give you a natural looking glow without being too heavy.

The Fenty Beauty Pro Filt'r Soft Matte Longwear Foundation comes in forty different shades. It gives skin instantly smooth, pore-diffused, shine-free finish with a medium to full coverage. It's an oil-free formula with technology that is climate-adaptive and resistant to sweat and humidity. Best yet is it won't clog your pores. It works for sensitive, normal, dry, combination, and oily skin types.

The Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer conceals, for up to 16 hours, imperfections and blemishes. It is transfer proof and water resistant.

Product 5 - Fenty Foundation Brushes

Zoella uses her Fenty Foundation Brushes for some of her videos. Especially when she uses her Fenty Beauty Foundation.

Fenty Beauty is designed by Rihanna! One of Rihanna’s first make-up loves was foundation. It was important to her to make the best brush for when she puts on her Pro Filt’r Soft Matte Longwear Foundation.

The Fenty Foundation Brushes are meant to help make the skin look natural and is the ultimate tool for applying foundation. It gives you quick coverage. Some of Rihanna’s favorite brushes consist of the Full-bodied Foundation Brush, the Precision Make-up Sponge, and Invisimatte Blotting Paper.

Tip 4 - How To Conceal On A Problematic Day (Scars to Acne)

No one has perfect skin, but with some tips from Zoella, you can make those problematic days seem like a flawless day!

Zoella had already washed and moisturized her skin prior to the video. She then showed how she put on Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream Skin Protectant. She then used a Real Technique Stippling Brush to put on Kat Von D Lock It Foundation. She enjoys using this because it is 24 hour full coverage transfer resistant. She only used a half of a pump to cover her entire face!

Zoella then used a Real Techniques Setting Brush to put on Kat Von D Lock It Concealer. She suggests that you place the concealer on your hand first so that you are not placing it straight onto your skin from the bottle. Also she suggests to make sure you are using clean brushes every time you put make up on. Zoella then mixes Urban Decay Naked Concealer and Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer where she does a lot of focus on her nose and chin.

Zoella then uses Bobbi Brown Tinted Eye Brightener under her eyes. Next she places Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder in Luminous Light because it helps her feel more dewy then dry.

Product 4 - Urban Decay Gwen Stefani Eyeshadow Palette

Zoella loves Urban Decay. The Eyeshadows and Naked Palettes are a staple in her makeup collection because they offer a range of colors for the Nude lover and blend like a dream. She assumed that the Gwen Stefani's Eyeshadow Palette was going to be filled with vibrant and adventurous colors; however, she was pleasantly surprised to see an array of nudes, golds, and taupes in variety of mattes and shimmers and two slightly more colorful options.

Urban Decay has never used twelve of the shades and three are already in the eye shadow collection. Gwen worked closely with Urban Decay making a palette that she had always wished was in her bag.

Zoella stated that she does not wear pink and blue colors well, but when she tested the blue out she was surprised by its appearance. There were specks of iridescent blue inside. She also stated that these colors would be perfect for smokey neutral eyes with a festive red lip.

Tip 3 - Winter Night Time Routine

Zoella says around 6pm, she turns off her electronics and steps away from work. She then gets into her coziest Pajamas and pulls back her hair. Sometimes she just pulls it back, other times she might do a messy bun.

Next, she takes off her make-up (although she admits that some nights she doesn’t take it off but she does not recommend this at all). She starts using Clinique Take the Day Off Cleansing Oil. She does this either prior to going to bed or right before a bath.

She uses Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish to clean her skin. The kind she has is a limited edition and smells of the Christmas season!

To tone her face, she pumps Sunday Riley Martian Toner on a cotton pad and then places it over her face. Then she uses Sunday Riley UFO Oil. She warns it looks scary because it comes out green, but it doesn’t turn your face green!

Product 3 - Fenty Beauty Foundation

Zoella really loves using her Fenty Beauty Profilt’r Soft Matte Longwear Foundation. She even uses it as a combo cover up, that was shown how to do it in Tip 5!

And did you know that this is by Rihanna? She even wore it on the cover of Rogue in November 2017. She was flawless using the Pro Filt’r Foundation in 340. She also used it when she went for a night out in Barbados.

Tip 2 - Don't Forget To Bronze Your Neck When Doing A Bronzed Summer Look!

Zoella already moisturized her face. She uses a Real Techniques Stiffling Brush to apply her Nars Sheer Glow Foundation in Mont Blanc. Then using her Urban Decay Naked Skin Concealer in Light Warm covering marks on her face. She applies Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer in Fair under her eyes using a Real Techniques Setting Brush. She says using the brush takes longer but it lasts longer. Using a Sigma Large Powder F20 Brush, she then places Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder in Luminous Light. Zoella loves this powder because it makes her skin look glowing, which is a necessity for a Bronzed look.

Now she starts to contour her face using Anastasia Pro Series Contour Kit in Light to Medium. She uses the Charlotte Tilbury Powder and Scuplt Brush to place an ashy color from the contour kit. Zoella says to focus on your trouble spots, which for her is mainly her chin but she also puts it on her cheek and nose.

Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion in Anti-Aging is her next product she uses. She said many people get nervous they’re using too much bronzer. Her reply to that is, is there such a thing as too much bronzer? She places on Hourglass Ambient Lighting Bronzer in Radiant Bronze Light. Zoella loves that it has a little shimmer for a bronzy look. She adds to make sure you put the bronzer on your neck as well, otherwise you’ll have a bronzed face and pale neck!

Product 2 - Smith and Cult Lash Dance Mascara

One of the products that Zoella loves is the Smith and Cult Lash Dance Mascara. She uses it in a few videos. She says it is very clumpy mascara but she enjoys clumps. Zoella also says that some people don’t do the bottom lashes, but when she does hers it looks spidery on the top and if she doesn’t do her bottom lashes she feels top heavy.

Smith and Cult Lash Dance Mascara includes a uniquely silicone applicator to maximize volume and visibly thicken lashes. It’s designed to deposit mascara on lashes smoothly and evenly.

The mascara’s formula delivers shiny, full-length, maxed out lashes. The benefits to this mascara is that it dries quickly, water resistant gives a silky matte finish and stays in place all day. The blend of waxes at varied viscosity and intense black pigment is what helps lengthen, thicken, and amps up shine.

It is suggested that when applying, you start at the base and comb through the lashes in a zig-zag motion.

Tip 1 - How To Take Make-up Off And End The Day

Candlelit bubble bath

Pampering yourself is important after having a long week of work. Zoella suggests that you first run a bath and light some candles of any scent you like around the tub. She crushes a Lush Bath Bar inside the tub. She also pops in a Lush Bath Bomb. Now don’t get startled if your water starts turning colors. The Lush Bath Bomb colors the water.

Next, she washes her face prior to getting in the bath. The reason you must wash your face prior to the bath is because the steam opens up your pores in your skin. You don’t want old make-up clogging those pores. That will just give you problematic skin issues later. She uses Emma Hardie Amazing Face Cleanser.

Her next step is getting inside the bath. You can relax with a book, music, or playing games on your devices. Before getting out of the tub, she uses Neom Luxury Organic Body Scrub to exfoliate and moisturize her body. She uses L’Occitane Shower Oil to shave her legs. It leaves her skin soft and nourished.

To final out her body care, she cleans her hair with TIGI S Factor Smoothing Shampoo and TGI S Factor Deep Conditioner with Sunflower Seed Oil.

Product 1 - Nars Eyeshadow Duo-Isolde

This was a Christmas gift from her brother (that she picked out). This has since became an everyday go to. Nars is her favorite brand for eyeshadow and blushers. The color and how long it stays on surpasses any of her other eyeshadows (which she states she has a lot).

Noella then says it’s a bit on the pricey side, but it is worth it. The reason why it is worth it is because she has been using it almost everyday for over a year and it barely looks like it has been touched. How can that be you ask? Well, the powder is finely milled and because the pigmentation is so good. She hardly has to push the brush into the product before applying! It also blends so well because of how finely it is milled.

The duo bronze/gold shades have an orange base. Orange is most flattering color for blue eyes. Zoella’s eyes appear a lot more blue in color and its effortlessly more dramatic make-up wise. She wears both together or the darker color all over the lid and a matte brown in the crease and under the bottom lash line. This gives it a more smokey effect.
