There are so many new faces in the supermodel world that it’s sometimes hard to remember that there were the original supermodels who made the industry what it is today. They were the groundbreakers, and some of them are still going even to this day. We're talking about the Christie Brinkleys and the Cindy Crawfords -- the beautiful women who, to this day, still seem ageless. "What are their secrets?" many people have asked. There must be something in the genes of supermodels that keep them flawless and perfect longer than we would normally expect. Perhaps they've secretly found the key to the fountain of youth?

These were the girls that walked the catwalk and became legends; these were the first batch. They're sharp contrasts to the models of today who aren't half as memorable as the originals. Think about it. When we visualize Naomi Campbell and Kate Moss, we remember their fresh faces and think of them as they were in their 20s. But today, most of these girls are now in their 40s and 50s -- it’s really hard to believe. So whatever happened to these catwalk legends? What are these sexy women up to these days? And what do they look like now? We know you're just dying to know, so go ahead; satisfy your curiosity and dive right in.

15. Stephanie Seymour

Stephanie Seymour was one of the most famous supermodels of her generation, and she made a ton of money while she was at it. Sadly, though, despite her massive fame, she has received more publicity for what appeared to be an inappropriate picture that popped up of her and her son on the beach. Media claimed that she was flirting with her son, and it garnered her a lot of unwanted attention. Despite those rumors, she has aged rather gracefully over the years. These days, however, the former model has been called "a hot mess" due to the DUI charge she was up against last year. In order to get out of the charge, she had to go to AA and an alcohol treatment program. “Her story demonstrates that sometimes, things that look really chic and enviable from the outside are maybe not so great after all.”

14. Claudia Schiffer

Claudia Schiffer who is close to 50 now doesn’t appear much different than she did in her modeling days. She has been accused of having a lot of plastic surgery done, but we can’t really blame her if she has. Her modeling career started when she was only 17 years old when she started working for Chanel. Guess also nabbed her quickly, which ignited her into megastar status because many people thought she resembled Brigitte Bardot. These days, she is married to the Kick-Ass director, Matthew Vaughn, and she has three children. She gave birth to her last child when she was 40 years old. She definitely has a strong opinion on the models of today: “The difference between the girls today and models of the past is that we are not only interested in fashion: we are going in so many different directions at once. We work harder -- at night and on weekends.”

13. Naomi Campbell

This striking woman was discovered when she was only fifteen years old while shopping with her family. She was one of the most in-demand models on the catwalk, and that was only the beginning for her. She then went on to appear on many magazine covers, some of which had never featured a black model before. She was a ground-breaking woman in the industry for sure. Not only did she appear in many campaigns for Ralph Lauren and Prada, but she was also featured in many music videos for Michael Jackson, Madonna, and The Notorious B.I.G.. She has dated many leading men, including Mike Tyson, Eric Clapton, and even Robert De Niro. She has had a lot of scandals throughout her career largely due to rumors that she's really mean to the people that work for her. "I think there's something so unpredictable and … spontaneous about her. But my favourite part about Naomi is that a lot of people don't know how hysterical she is, full of bites. You've seen her on TV before and she's always so funny and really engaging," said Joe Zee from Yahoo Style.

12. Kate Moss

This British supermodel is probably one of the most famous supermodels of all time. There isn’t anyone out there that doesn’t know her name. It’s actually pretty crazy that Kate Moss aged as well as she did because she was a pretty heavy drug user at one point in her life, even being caught in the act of doing cocaine.“Cocaine Kate," the headlines called her. That was something that almost ruined her life. She had a party lifestyle that involved Pete Doherty and Johnny Depp. "Waif" was the term used to refer to her threadlike frame, which inspired a new breed of “skinny” in fashion that all but wiped out the muscular Amazons that were the supers in the 80s. "And with their extinction rose a new disease," spat the press. "Don’t blame Kate," fashion hit back.”

11. Cindy Crawford

Cindy Crawford was the girl that appeared in hundreds of magazine covers and had the epic Pepsi commercial that brought a whole new level of love to the product. She was the fresh-faced sex symbol that could seemingly drink a whole bottle of Pepsi in one gulp. She, at one point, hosted the MTV series House of Style and was at that point married to the handsome Richard Gere. Talk about a lucky girl! But alas, it did not last. They were only married for a few years; however, she eventually married again in 1998, the lucky man being businessman Rande Gerber. Since her catwalk days, she has started her own furniture line called The Home Collection as well as a skin care line called Meaningful Beauty. Now we know how she stays so young despite the fact that she's in her 50s. She's a successful businesswoman these days, and it doesn’t look like she has any desire to retire.

10. Elle Macpherson

They called Elle Macpherson “The Body” because of her insane hotness on the runway, especially during those Victoria’s Secret shows. She is Australian and insanely gorgeous. It’s really hard to believe that she, too, is in her fifties now, especially because she still looks so good. She retired from the catwalk and tried her hand in acting. You may have seen her in The Edge, Batman & Robin and The Mirror Has Two Faces. She has also been in numerous TV series such as Friends (as Joey’s girlfriend) and The Project. Aside from that, she has also been involved in many business ventures. She is still well known in the industry and has amassed quite a substantial amount of wealth. Not to mention, she looks incredible. We can only hope that we will all look that great at her age with her skin looking so flawless.

9. Linda Evangelista

She was certainly a striking redhead back in the day. As you can see, Linda Evangelista has aged well and looks pretty good for someone in her 50s. It’s as if she can still strut on the catwalk. She has graced over 700 magazine covers and used to say that she wouldn’t get out of bed for less than $10,000. That must be nice. At one time, she was considered to be “the queen of fashion.” But we can still see why Dr. Anthony Youn has suggested that the model has had some work done to keep her good looks, stating, “The supermodel’s face looks super plumped up. I suspect that she’s had some injections of fat into her cheeks, causing them to look puffy like they do.” That wouldn’t be surprising, but it’s hard to tell whether that's true or not.

8. Helena Christensen

Helena Christensen started out as Miss Denmark then went on to appear in Chris Isaak’s music video “Wicked Games.” Then it was as if she experienced overnight success. After the video was released, she suddenly had many lucrative deals from Victoria’s Secret and CoverGirl. However, she is one model that hasn’t won the fight against aging; she hasn’t aged well at all. She has the puffy look of someone who has been injected with a lot of Botox. She has a lot to say about aging as well: “I really don’t think we should talk about aging. Because this is something only women ever have to deal with, not men. Why do men never ever get asked about aging? There are no rules anymore, a 60-year-old can look better than a 20-year-old. You could be a very unfit 20-year-old and look really dumb in a mini dress, or you could be a super sexy 60-year-old and look great in one.”

7. Christy Turlington

She's a supermodel who has aged wonderfully. In fact, Christy Turlington doesn’t look much different from her youthful days at all. An amazing talent that made the catwalk into what it is today, this Californian has gone all the way to the top. She was a huge favorite of Vogue Magazine, being featured on the cover many times. She hasn’t reached 50 yet, but she’s certainly doing well so far. She is one celebrity that has taken her vows seriously, having been married to the same man for twelve years now. She married the Saving Private Ryan actor Edward Burns. The way she's been aging, it seems like Edward is one lucky guy because she will look beautiful forever. The two these days are looking more solid than ever, and it appears as if Christy is enjoying her retirement.

6. Iman

In the 70’s or 80’s, there was an elite group of models who had not yet been coined “Supermodels.” But these models still enjoyed the pleasure of demanding huge sums of money to strut down the runway and do photoshoots. Somalian model Iman was one of those trailblazers. This beautiful model is in her 60s now, which is insane, considering just how great she looks. Good job, Iman, you have never looked better! She’s always had a strong viewpoint on women having children: “Make sure your decision to have a child is based on your need to share your life completely with another human being and not because of some personal need for validation as a woman.” That was a pretty relevant statement from her considering that many women choose to become mothers, even though they don’t really have a strong desire for it.

5. Eva Herzigová

Eva Herzigova is a catwalk superstar, and she’s always been easily recognizable because of her strong Czech features. She was famous for many things in her modeling career, but none made her more famous than the fact that she was the face of the huge Wonderbra campaign “Hello Boys!” She became quite famous for that ad and was unable to walk down the streets without being recognized. She always felt like modeling was a struggle at times because there was no stability in her life. She certainly looks fantastic for her age, though. “As a model, it's a gypsy kind of life: living in hotels, working all the time, ordering room service instead of cooking for yourself. There's absolutely no nest-building.” She’s always been conscious about her life after modeling, however: “I put my money in the bank: I have to think of life after modeling, when I'm not famous anymore.”

4. Tyra Banks

Probably the most outspoken supermodel in the history of time, Tyra Banks has certainly come a long way in the industry, and we can’t help but feel that she has come into her own. These days, she's in her 40s, but she looks damn good. She has done over 20 cycles of American’s Next Top Model, as well as launched her own makeup line. She’s fierce and takes no prisoners in the industry. She also has her own show, The Tyra Banks Show which did not fare too poorly in the ratings, so she has certainly been busy since she retired from the fashion world. Today, however, it seems as if she is more interested in finding the next supermodel rather than being one herself. Either way, she is certainly looking fierce these days.

3. Heidi Klum

Heidi Klum is one supermodel who seems to have never aged a bit. She was once married to Seal and had a child with him, but their marriage didn’t last long. This German model looks stunning for her age, and she says it’s all about keeping some weight on: “The ultimate beauty secret for a woman getting older is, don’t be too thin! It is always better to have a little meat on your bones.” She is still modeling on and off at this time, and she has been featured on a lot of TV shows as well. Heidi also has a soft spot for Michael J. Fox: “Michael J. Fox is a great, sexy, funny, short man. I had so much fun on that show ["Spin City"]. There was this scene where we were lying in bed together after sex. But instead of having a cigarette, I start yodeling, because I'm German, see? He kept making me laugh; we were cracking up.”

2. Janice Dickinson

Janice Dickinson is definitely an old-school model from back in the day, and she never has any hesitations telling everyone how awesome she was and how much she knows about the business. She has aged terribly, however, piling on the plastic surgery. She didn’t even give herself a chance to see what aging would be like before she started with the procedures. We feel she probably got on the plastic surgery train sooner than she should have, and now there’s no correcting what she’s done. These days, she’s in and out of reality TV shows, and she’s usually screaming while she does it. “I am anxious. I am always anxious. I should change my name to Anxiety Dickinson. I am anxious about my little sister. My big sister. My mother. Myself. Life. I am anxious about what to wear, what to eat, what to say, how to breathe.”

1. Christie Brinkley

We feel like Christie Brinkley looks far better these days than she ever did as a young model. Look at that face; she’s hardly aged at all. She still has a trim figure and that insanely long blonde hair. The stunning former model is in her 60s, and we just can’t believe it. So, what’s her secret? “I don’t ever apply makeup without scrubbing my face first. And I’m very careful with my makeup. Too much emphasizes your wrinkles.” She obviously knows what she’s talking about. She and her husband struggled for many years to have a child, and they were just about to give up. “We decided to try in vitro, because both Peter and I felt we couldn't handle another failure. When I miscarried after that, we had to come to terms with the possibility that this wasn't meant to be.” Thankfully the model was able to have children.
