Israeli model and actress Gal Gadot is soon to make her appearance as Wonder Woman, in theaters June 2. The highly-anticipated action movie will feature Gadot, who has a full repertoire of action movies to her name. They include Justice League, Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice, and The Fast and the Furious franchise. For all of these roles, she of course had to be fit, trim, and in shape. But now with Wonder Woman, her fitness had to be taken to another level.
Being a model and fitness buff already, Gal was totally up to the challenge. And though it was indeed a challenge to put on 17 pounds of muscle for the role, Gal made it look like a piece of cake. Gorgeous in every way anyway, sweat actually looks good on her, the lucky devil.
Yoga pants or not, there are only a select few women who can actually look hot while working up a sweat, and Gal Gadot is one of them. 15 Kick-Ass Former Soldier
Here Gal is seen working out hard with her trainer, a dude twice her size. Unintimidated, she manages to lift her leg for a kick above his shoulder. And we cannot ignore, of course, how freaking amazing she looks doing it. It is almost like she is doing a dance with those pointed toes, good lines, and perfect form. Oh, and her butt is to die for in those pants. These kinds of things are not new to her, though, as she was, herself, a sports trainer for two years in the Israeli Defense Forces (in Israel, her home country, it is compulsory for all citizens to go into the military in one way or another). And even with everything else going on in this photo, you can still see the determination on her face. Love her!
14 Looking Good In Tights
Looking more like a model than a woman in the middle of a grueling workout, here Gal stuns once again with how great she is capable of looking without makeup and in sweats. She is disciplined about being physically active even without the duty of being Wonder Woman, as she was inclined toward athletics her whole life from a young age, and then was a trainer for two years in the Israeli Defense Forces, of which she says, "It gives you values, like giving something of yourself, your time, your energy. It gives you good discipline, because it's not about you; it's about the system. And it's not easy, either. You don't have your freedom and you can't go and do what you want to do." It sounds tough, but it is arguably one of several things that got her to where she is today!
Gal's followers on Instagram raved about her beauty in this picture that for most would not be attractive in the slightest. This photo was captioned, "Work it! Very happy Friday!" And some commenters had things to say like, "Brow workouts!"; "She is beautiful even when she makes that serious face"; and "Amazing woman." All very true statements. With nearly 116,000 likes for this photo alone, it is clear that everyone was behind Gal, Wonder Woman, and the effort that went into the transformation. It was probably awesome for Gal to have such immense support throughout the grueling workouts she had to endure to become a superhero. Go, Gal!
12 Gym Selfie
This gym selfie is cute, but must have been taken early on in her journey to achieve the Amazonian Wonder Woman's physique, because while toned, she looks a little smaller muscle-wise than she does in some of the other photos. But she still looks hot AF, don't get me wrong. Any men in the gym that day would have appreciated the hot pink sports bra and teeny-tiny workout shorts. Barely anything is left to the imagination as she snaps this selfie. Her face, however, is. Is she wearing that baseball cap to avoid any paparazzi, or just because it looks cool and matches? Gal, besides being a fitness enthusiast (and freaking Wonder Woman!) also loves to stay in shape with her favorite sports, which include basketball, volleyball, and tennis.
11 That Stretch, Though...
How does this girl retain such a gorgeous glow when in the middle of a workout? Most of us would look sweaty and gross, but for Gal Gadot, it comes off as glowy and pretty. The shine works for her, to say the least. The former Miss Israel 2004 spent one hour per day in the gym training for her wonder role, but the other 23 hours were focused on her body, as well, and in many different ways. For instance, she also made sure to get enough sleep and proper nutrition, because everything plays a role in getting in tip-top physical shape. But during that one hour, Gal began with a cardio warmup, then did six to eight weight training and metabolic exercises. Often, her cardio included rowing because there was virtually no risk she would be injured and thus unable to film.
10 Boxer Babe
This chick is nothing if not versatile in her workouts, as we have seen. Boxing is one of her favorite ways to workout, she has said. It sure seems like she has a lot of favorites! She tweeted this photo saying it was one of her faves, hashtag #workoutwednesday. Incredibly, the five-foot, 10-inch star put on 17 pounds of muscle to play Wonder Woman. In addition to all the workouts we have seen on this list thus far, she also used kung fu, kick boxing, sword fighting, and Brazilian jiu jitsu, among other methods of fitness training. I guess when you have to put on 17 pounds of muscle and remain thin, you have a lot of work to do and likely want to change it up a bit to keep from getting bored. And that is exactly what Gal did.
9 Hot Jock
There is that drive and determination again in her face. She may only be doing reps of ten pounds each with the dumbbells, but that is hard work! With the use of black and white in the photo, you can really see her muscles taking shape with the highlights and shadows. And appropriately, her workout shirt says, "Jock". Gal may be trim and petite, but that does not mean she cannot be super strong. Wonder Woman is, and now Gal is too, thanks to workouts like these. Gal says of the female superhero, "I feel like I've been given a huge opportunity to inspire people, not only women. And not because of me but because of who Wonder Woman is and what she stands for. There's a lot of responsibility."
8 Balancing Act
This photo, a mirror selfie, does a great job showing the statuesque, model-like figure that Gal Gadot is known for having. Just look at those endless legs! Her long and lean body is natural, but was further developed utilizing a strict combination of cardio, weights, and diet (which sucked because she admits she is a "foodie"). But just look at her here in this photo- she looks pretty happy to be balancing on a ball, and ready to work those rings. Other notable details to her regimen included drinking one gallon of water per day, drinking lots of green smoothies, and enjoying the food she normally ate- but in moderation.
7 A Pretty Physical Gal
This may look like Gal is having a grand old time on a Caribbean vacation or something, but looks can be deceiving. Paddleboarding is actually a very strenuous activity that should definitely count as a workout (albeit a fun one!). Paddleboarding is also a hobby of hers- whether she is working out or not. That, along with TRX and rock climbing make Gal one pretty physical gal (pun intended). It has given her a fitness foundation that made her transformation into a superhero easier than it would have been without. Hey, at least she got to enjoy some of her hobbies while getting into shape to play Wonder Woman!
6 Wave and Shore
This is a picture from Gal Gadot's own Instagram page. It is a snapshot of her out for a jog on the beach on a cloudy day, and it looks pretty chill for a workout, at least compared to the kind she is used to doing in preparation for the role of Wonder Woman. This beauty is a mixture of Polish, Austrian, German, and Czech heritages. Her ancestors were Jewish immigrants from Europe, and her parents (an engineer and a teacher, respectively) were both born in Israel, as was she. Her parents gave her the name Gal, which means "wave" in Hebrew. Her last name means "riverbanks" or "shores". All are very fitting names for this beachy photo. Born and raised in the city of Rosh HaAyin, Israel, Gal grew up in a very traditional Jewish family.
5 Rock Climbing vs. Routine
Again, Gal works out in pretty much every way you can imagine. And she proves it yet again with this rock climbing photo. Of course, all the fun stuff is not the norm when it comes to working out for Gal. Her normal, everyday, run-of-the-mill, Wonder Woman workout as published by Muscle and Fitness magazine is as follows: a five-minute warmup, five minutes of sprinting for 10 seconds and going at an easy pace for 50, one minute of push-ups, three minutes of various floor exercises, burpees and broad jumps, three more minutes of the floor exercises, more burpees and broad jumps, seven sets of pull-ups in three reps, and five sets of push-ups in three reps. It sounds tiring just thinking about it!
4 Those Abs, Though!
Gal Gadot sizzles in this hot workout photo- hot in many senses of the word. For some reason she is wearing makeup to her sweaty workout, and even though that makes no sense (and even though she doesn't need it in the slightest), it only makes her look hotter. In this photo, she is the definition of strength, judging by her abs, arm muscles, thighs, and that look of sheer determination on her beautiful face. Fitness and physical beauty can only take a person so far, but with the dedication Gal seems to have, at least judging by this photo (and the fact that we know she transformed her body for Wonder Woman), she has perseverance and inner strength, as well.
3 Everything in Moderation
This straight-up gym shot shows Gal with the dumbbell. All together she has played or will be playing Wonder Woman in four movies total. These are 2016's Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice, this year's Wonder Woman, and the upcoming Justice League and Justice League Part Two. You would think, being a hot AF superheroine like Gal portrays in these movies, that she would have to eat only kale and protein. And don't get me wrong- she does do that. But she is actually rather normal when it comes to food, having this to say about her eating habits: "I'm a foodie and I love to experience food, but at the same time I look at food as fuel and I want to give the best to my body. So, of course I have my bad things that I eat like burgers or ice cream with chocolate. I don't restrict myself, I can eat everything. It's all a matter of measurements and quantity of the food; just enjoy your food and don't eat while you drive, and don't eat when you talk on the phone. Just give the food the respect and give yourself the respect to enjoy it."
2 Skinny to Super Buff
From skinny model to buff Amazonian princess, Gal Gadot definitely put in the work to earn the distinction of superhero. A few of the many, many activities Gal does to stay active that have not been mentioned yet on this list are yoga and Pilates. Gal says, "I'm a big fan of a good diet and healthy lifestyle. It's important to eat a lot of vegetables, drink a lot of water, and stay active. I believe what we put in our bodies will reflect on the outside." Well if that is the case, she has a completely perfect diet, because just look at her! It is a wonder (haha) that she has two babies! Her second, daughter Maya, was just born in March of this year, joining big sister Alma, five.
1 It All Paid Off
And after all that hard work, we are left with this goddess of a woman. She is the perfect person to play Princess Diana of Themyscira, and we are so excited to see what she has done with the role in her own movie. All of the workouts definitely paid off for Gal, and besides fans around the world watching her fight the bad guys in that tiny little Wonder Woman outfit, I'll bet her husband, Yaron Varsano, is pretty happy about the superhero transformation, as well.
