8 Celebs Doing Time (And 7 That Should Be)

The last quarter of 2017 has been one of the most controversial and scandalous in Hollywood history. When news broke that one of Hollywood’s most powerful and intimidating figures, Harvey Weinstein, had committed dozens of serious offences against women throughout his illustrious career, it started a chain reaction that would change the very foundations of the entertainment industry at its core.

The brave women who came forward encouraged other victims to come forward and reveal their own stories suffering at the hands of some of Hollywood’s most powerful people. It also revealed how the behaviors of such individuals went ignored for decades in what became known simply as another one of the movie industry's so-called "open secrets."

Finally, Hollywood is being exposed for it is, and there are those in the industry that are working to make the film industry a safer working environment for actors and actresses. In a recent interview with People magazine, Bryan Cranston stated that “the pillars of what was are falling. Everything is being exposed, women and men should not have to tolerate misbehavior because of their youth and inexperience. The silver lining is, we’re not accepting behavior like that because it’s always been."

Nevertheless, there is still doubt whether some of these individuals will ever face justice. While there are those whose crimes were so extreme that not even their status could save them from a life in prison, others have been jailed for relatively minor offences in comparison to what the scandals of 2017 have so far revealed. Here is a list of eight celebrities that have been jailed, and seven who should be.

However, that show and everything else with Kevin Spacey’s involvement is now facing cancellation, or he's being replaced entirely.

This is because of the allegations that originally stemmed from Star Trek: Discovery actor Anthony Rapp, who accused Spacey of making inappropriate advances towards him when he was 14 years old.

The allegation prompted more men to come forward with their own reports of Spacey’s behavior towards them spanning as far back as the 1980s. The London Metropolitan police are investigating, but it isn’t clear if any charges will be brought forward.

Polanski also seems to continually work with the biggest Hollywood actors, such as Eva Green, Jodie Foster, Kate Winslet, Meryl Streep, and Christopher Waltz among the many, despite the many allegations of assault made against him.

What makes this so surprising, is that in light of the condemnation of Harvey Weinstein and Kevin Spacey amidst the allegations of assault, Polanski is able to avoid jail despite there being at least 9 women - one of whom was ten years old at the time - coming forward. With historical abuse cases dating back as far as the 1960s one has to wonder why Polanski gets a pass in Hollywood when the likes of Weinstein and Spacey doesn't.

Since then, he was arrested another four times for parole violation for refusing to report his travel plans, not attending etiquette classes, and finally assaulting two pedestrians at an airport in St. Louis, Missouri, extending his parole with every incident.

Instead of the much-publicized abuse derailing his career like it should have, Salva profited from writing a screenplay for the direct-to-video film The Nature of the Beast, which was based on his experiences while incarcerated.

Despite protests, Salva continues to direct films with the approval of Hollywood. His victim Nathan Winters continues to publicly protest Salva’s work, but it seems like those in Hollywood seem to be happy to turn a blind eye to his offences.
