20 Shocking Celebrity Feuds That Rocked Hollywood

Being in the public eye is no easy feat. After all, everything you do is put under the microscope for the public to dissect. Can you imagine every argument you ever had plastered all over the tabloids? Me neither.

But, luckily for us – it’s not our drama, and it’s entertaining as hell. The lives of the rich and famous, their relationships, friendships and all the controversy surrounding both, keeps the world spinning. There’s nothing the media likes more than a running commentary on who insulted who, who stole what dancers – or more importantly, who stole who’s man. It’s a constant revolving door of falling out and making up that frankly, we are here for.

The media knows that drama sells. We love celebrity drama as much as we love soap operas – if not more. It seems that almost as soon as stars kiss and make up, there’s more trouble brewing just down the road. With every tweet, every picture, every passing comment up for debate, these feuds often get worse before (or if) they get better.

From Taylor Swift and Kanye West at the VMA’s, to Daniel Craig and the Kardashians, no one is safe. Even if they don’t share the same continent, they share the same social circle – and word gets around.

Let’s have a look at 20 Shocking Celebrity Feuds That Rocked Hollywood.

Let’s start out with a bang. The bad blood between Kanye and Taylor started out in an incredible way. Who can forget the moment that West stormed onto the stage of the MTV Video Music Awards, interrupting Swift’s first ever MTV award win. Although she is now a veteran, Swift was just 19 years old at the time. West grabbed the microphone, proclaiming that Beyonce should have won for the Single Ladies video. Good work, Kanye. It all seemed to quiet down when West apologized, however new beef arose when Kanye released Famous in 2016, with lyrics he swore Taylor approved, while Taylor said she had no idea. It all got very catty when Kanye’s wife, Kim Kardashian, got involved, releasing recorded proof that Swift had approved the lyrics. Taylor responded with an Instagram post saying that she was pretty much done with the whole situation. And so, it goes on.

In January of 2009, Casino Royale heartthrob Daniel Craig spoke candidly of his distaste for the Kardashian clan in an interview with GQ magazine. "You see that and you think, ‘What, you mean all I have to do is behave like a f**king idiot on television and then you’ll play me millions?’" Unfortunately, Daniel, that seems to be the case. Just look at Farrah Abraham. Boss mom Kris Jenner was less than impressed with Craig’s outburst and told Heat Magazine that he "crossed the line. It’s not made him look like the world’s nicest guy. The right thing for a real man to do now would be to issue a public apology." You can’t get manlier than James Bond, and the apology never came.

British singer Allen and everyone’s favorite rock chick Love collided over something pretty stupid – dresses. In 2010 both ladies attended the Brit Awards, and Love made it no secret that she wanted to wear Chanel, instead of the Miu Miu outfit she actually sported. Why not just wear Chanel, you ask? According to Love, Allen had put a lock on all of the design house’s fashions for the event. Considering that Courtney told everyone in sight, it didn’t take long for the allegations to get back to Lily, who bit back on Twitter in typical celebrity fashion. "As a rule, I don’t pick on crazy old ladies," Allen wrote. "It’s the sort of thing a paranoid drug addled lunatic might come up with." Although Love later apologized, Allen didn’t accept.

Nothing Compares 2 U hitmaker Sinead O’Connor penned Miley Cyrus an open letter after the release of Wrecking Ball. In the letter, O’Connor expressed her concern over Miley’s sexually provocative attitude, saying "The message you keep sending is that it's somehow cool to be prostituted…it's so not cool Miley... it's dangerous." She went on to warn Miley that her talent would be diminished if she continued to let herself be ‘pimped’ by her management team. Miley retaliated in a very harsh way, posting a series of tweets where she mocked O’Connor and shared screenshots of her tweets from 2012, when she was suffering from mental health issues. Cyrus compared O’Connor to former child star Amanda Bynes who also suffered a breakdown. O’Connor threatened legal action if Cyrus didn’t delete the tweets. The issue was never publicly resolved.

Controversial director Brett Ratner has a habit of putting his foot in his mouth. In 2012, the Rush Hour director had a shot at producing the Oscars, but after being caught using an anti-gay slur, he was dropped. Then, he found himself confronted over Munn’s memoir. In her book, Munn claimed that Ratner used to masturbate in front of her while he held a shrimp cocktail. Yeah, I don’t know either. Somewhat understandably, Ratner was pretty peeved and while he was a guest on Attack of the Show (which coincidentally Munn used to host), he claimed that they had ‘banged a couple of times’ and that she was bitter because it never went anywhere. After backlash, Ratner took it back and said that it never happened. Hmm, okay.

Reality TV star Nene Leakes took a step out of Atlanta when she was a contestant on The Celebrity Apprentice. Leakes and fellow contestant and television personality, Star Jones, didn’t hit it off and argued throughout the show. The situation got so bad that Leakes even tried to quit the show, but her contract wouldn’t allow it. On The Rosie Show, The Real Housewives of Atlanta star explained that she felt Jones was being fake for the cameras. According to Leakes the two were good friends, even double dating. Then as soon as filming started Jones started abusing her with statements like ‘I don’t like reality stars.’ Leakes squashed the feud, saying she had no intentions of making up but would remain civil.

Charlie Sheen isn’t known for his great acting so much as his troubled personal life. As the star of Two and a Half Men, the show had no choice but to go on a hiatus when Sheen went into rehab. Creator Chuck Lorre made a joke about Sheen’s health, which Charlie didn’t take too kindly. He blasted the hell out of Lorre on TMZ, saying, ‘I violently hate Chaim Levine (Chuck Lorre). He’s a stupid, stupid little man and a p**sy punk that I’d never want to be like.’ Unsurprisingly, Sheen was fired from the show and replaced by none other than Ashton Kutcher. Sheen has since apologized.

Everyone’s favorite comic, Will Smith, graced our screens with the 90s hit sit-com The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. Although most of the cast remain close, there is one discrepancy. Janet Hubert, who played Aunt Viv but was replaced for the final three seasons, blames the Independence Day actor for getting her fired. In a radio interview in Atlanta, Will Smith said that "Janet Hubert wanted the show to be The Aunt Viv of Bel Air show.’’ Hubert didn’t take that lightly and when rumors abounded of a possible reunion a couple of years ago, she said she would never be part of it as Smith is "still an egomaniac and has not grown up." Wow. That’s some well-done beef.

Although he seems to have quietened down slightly in his older years, rapper Eminem made it a habit of mentioning the rich and famous in his songs – and it wasn’t always complimentary. Eminem has previously claimed that he dated diva Mariah Carey, something that Carey vehemently denies. In any case, this hasn’t stopped Marshall Mathers penning songs like Bagpipes From Baghdad which includes lyrics calling Carey a ‘whore’ and her husband Nick Cannon a ‘pr***’. Carey retaliated in her song, Obsessed. In the video she dresses up as a guy dressed in hoodies and baggy pants – remind you of anyone? Cannon also challenged Eminem to a physical fight or rap battle. That’s brave, Nick.

Talk show host Elisabeth Hasselbeck decided to confront comedian and political commentator Bill Maher on an episode of The View. The reason? Maher had made a misogynistic joke about Hasselbeck and presenter Lara Logan after Logan was attacked by a mob in the Egyptian capital, Cairo. Maher said, ‘Now that Mubarak has released Lara Logan, he must put her intrepid hotness on a plane immediately. In exchange, we will send Elisabeth Hasselbeck.’ To the pleasure of women world over, Elisabeth chastised Maher for being offensive toward women, although Maher continued to make jokes. He tweeted after the event that it was ‘actually fun to be seen as the victim for once.’ Can we send Maher to Egypt, please?

Back in 2014, Gwynnie was turning her hand from acting to lifestyle and food, writing for her newsletter and website Goop. Almost everyone thought her foray into cooking was slightly odd, but some were more outspoken about it than others. Enter queen of the home, Martha Stewart. Stewart was seemingly bitter about Paltrow edging in on her business – ‘She just needs to be quiet. She's a movie star. If she were confident in her acting, she wouldn't be trying to be Martha Stewart.’ Ouch, better put your oven gloves on because that BURNS. Paltrow went for a passive aggressive retaliation when she responded to Stewart’s recipe ‘Conscious Coupling’ pie, with ‘Jailbird Cake’. The feud still simmers on the stove.

There’s nothing that tears females apart more than boys. Many moons ago in 2005, Mary-Kate had just been dumped by her Greek shipping air boyfriend, Stavros Niarchos III. Stavros wasted no time after ditching one half of the Olsen twins and went on to date socialite Paris Hilton. Olsen was devastated, and spoke to W magazine about the break-up, saying ‘[Paris and I] always only had nice things to say about each other, now I guess you can tell we’re not talking.’ Not long after the split she took a leave of absence from her studies at NYU. Everything came up roses for Olsen in the end, as she married French banker Olivier Sarkozy. As for her friendship with Paris, let’s just say Mary-Kate isn’t planning on being her new BFF.

Oh, Courtney. What can we say, she just really loves to F s**t up. The year was 1995, the event was the VMA’s. Madonna was being interviewed by MTV about her upcoming record, when suddenly, it starts raining make-up. The culprit was Love, throwing make-up at Madonna, on camera. Madonna was visibly taken aback, as the interviewer asked Love to join them. Love then ran up the stairs and gifted us with arguably one of the most awkward moments in VMA history. This may even outweigh Kanye West and Taylor Swift. Throughout the exchange, Love apologies for being in a ‘feisty-ass mood’. It’s car crash TV at it’s very best. Madonna eventually has her fill and leaves.

This may seem a little strange as the two ended up dating for two years, but bear with me. The pair met on the set of the epic romance film The Notebook. However, they really didn’t get along at first. In fact, Gosling felt so abhorred by McAdams that he tried to get her fired. Director Nick Cassavetes told VH-1, "Maybe I'm not supposed to tell this story, but they were really not getting along one day on set. Really not. Ryan came to me, and there's 150 people standing in this big scene, and he says, 'Nick, come here.' And he's doing a scene with Rachel and he says, 'Would you take her out of here and bring in another actress to read off-camera with me?' I said, 'What?' Then he says, 'I can't. I can't do it with her. I'm just not getting anything from this.'" Luckily, the two resolved their differences in a pretty epic fashion.

When I was still wearing cream eye shadow and watching Buffy The Vampire Slayer in 2003, actors Frankie Muniz and Shia LaBeouf were busy laying the groundwork for some serious dissing. LaBeouf was just starring in his first film, Holes. Shia was quoted as saying "I used to see [Muniz] at premieres and stuff and it would always be like he was looking down on me. And then it turned into we’re equal, and then it turned into 'Oh, Frankie? I know that guy.'’’ Fast forward several years later and Shia’s star was shining while Frankie’s was beginning to wane. Obviously not over how Muniz used to snub him, LaBeouf slammed him in an interview, saying "I don’t go to many parties and I don’t really hang out in Frank Muniz-type zones." I’m not really sure what happened from this point, but it’s safe to say they’re probably avoiding sharing a red carpet.

This was a dick move on Snoop’s part. The hip-hop master shared a picture on Instagram of a make-up free Azalea, comparing her to Marlon Wayans' character in White Chicks. Not only was the post extremely insulting and uncalled for, it was misogynistic. Not one to take insults lying down, Azalea responded with this tweet – "@snoopdogg why would you post such a mean pic on insta when you send your body guards to ask me for pictures every time we are at shows together? My bodyguard stopped the fire truck that saved your friends life in canada when he almost burnt down the hotel." Snoop responded with some really abusive tweets, which he later deleted, and a video threatening Iggy. Eventually, Snoop apologized after Azalea’s mentor, T.I, called him and asked him to calm down. It looks like it was resolved, but I think this is a case of forgive, but never forget.

This is some juicy grade-A beef. In 2009, celebrity blogger Perez Hilton set Twitter on fire when he posted, "I was assaulted by Will.i.am of the Black Eyed Peas and his security guards. I am bleeding. Please, I need to file a police report. No Joke." The episode seemed to come out of nowhere, and apparently was the result of Will.i.am asking Hilton to stop posting about his band on his blog. Not known for his cool-headed attitude, Perez apparently responded with, "You’re not a f***ing artist, you’re a f***ing f***t." Do you kiss your mother with that mouth, Perez? Anyway, a scuffle erupted and Hilton got smacked in the face by Will.i.am’s manager. Both parties released a statement video, and it was never resolved.

If you ever watched the hit show The Osbournes, you may be aware that Kelly O was never a huge fan of pop princesses like Christina Aguilera. More than once, she was openly critical about he style of singing. When Kelly hosted E! Fashion Police, she let it all out. "Maybe she’s just becoming the fat b***h she was always born to be," Kelly said. "I don’t know. She called me fat for so many f***ing years, so you know what? F**k you, you’re fat too!" Clearly, Kelly didn’t hold back. Surprisingly, Aguilera never responded to the comment. In 2012 Kelly did say that Christina was "looking way better." Does that mean peace was made? We may never know.

Allow me to give you a little bit of the backstory. Chelsea Handler and Friends star Jennifer Aniston are best friends, and have been for years. So, when Brad Pitt left Jen for actress Angelina Jolie, Handler was not about to go down without throwing a few punches of her own. On Watch What Happens Live, Handler said "She seems like a demon. As a woman, I know when you see somebody walking across the room that is a bad girl. I just don’t like Angelina Jolie. I don’t think she’s a girls girl." As Jolie and Pitt fell in love on the set of Mr. and Mrs. Smith at the time Pitt was still married to Aniston, it’s not hard to see Handler’s point of view.

Let me tell you, I could have created a list on Taylor Swift’s feuds alone. The country singer turned pop star knows how to stir the pot. Trouble started brewing between one-time friends Perry and Swift after a falling out due to backing dancers. In a recent interview with James Corden, Perry dished the dirt on what exactly happened, creating a new buzz around the scandal. As if to add insult to injury, Swift released the whole of her back catalog to streaming sites on the same day Katy Perry released her new album, Witness. Rather than get mad, Katy said in an interview this past weekend that she was ready to move on, even saying, "I forgive her and I'm sorry for anything I ever did, and I hope the same from her." T-Swift has yet to respond, so watch this space.
