It really cannot be a shock to anyone here that along with Game of Thrones came GoT cosplays. Why wouldn't that be a thing? I think it makes perfect sense. After all, there is a cosplay for almost any big name you can think of. Heck, there are even cosplays for things you would never expect (or want) to see.
The only thing that doesn't make any sense to me about GoT cosplays is that Jessica Nigri hasn't done one yet. I find that really strange. I used to think that if there was a cosplay out there, Nigri had done it...but better. Well, I was wrong. And I'm saddened. But that's ok because there are some very hot alternatives here with some awesome costumes!
Now you get to take a look at people's hot interpretations of Daenerys, Catelyn Stark, Cersei Lannister, Melisandre, Ellaria Sand, Margaery Tyrell, Sansa Stark, Yara Greyjoy, Shae, and even Khal Drogo. That's right...even Khal Drogo. Trust me, she's worth seeing.
"Two translators are on a sinking ship. The first says, "Do you know how to swim?" The second says, "No, but I can shout for help in 19 languages." I think it's a great joke. And who doesn't love a woman with a sense of humor? I know I do. And I have to say that this side-by-side cosplay is pretty darn good. It's not perfect, and the backdrop is just slightly different, but this cosplayer does a good job of matching the character of Missandei.
18 Yara Greyjoy
"And I've made mine! I'm going to pick the fastest ship in our fleet. I'm going to choose the fifty best killers on the Iron Islands. I'm going to sail up the Narrow Sea, all the way to the Weeping Water. I'm going to march on the Dreadfort. I'm going to find my little brother. And I'm going to bring him home." It doesn't matter if you despise the Greyjoys or just think they're horrible people. Yara is just really badass. In almost every way possible. And it doesn't hurt that this cosplayer is much hotter than the actor in the show! She might not be showing off much, but she hardly needs to. She looks badass, and she's hot. End of story. The books always made it seem that Yara (not actually named Yara in the books) was really hot.
17 Cersei Lannister
“Oh, shut up, you little fool. Praying for the gods to have mercy on us all? The gods have no mercy, that’s why they are gods. My father told me that when he caught me praying. My mother had just died, you see. I didn’t really understand the concept of death. The finality of it. I thought if I prayed very very hard, the gods would return her to me. I was four.” It's no wonder Cersei is so incredibly messed up in the head. Her horrible father definitely did not do a very good job. That doesn't ultimately excuse anything that she's done, but you can at least understand why she's so nuts. But hey, at least we can assume that the people who cosplay the character aren't near as nuts. And even if they are, that's ok because we're really only interested in checking them out. Unless you're really brave.
16 Dainty Dany
"It seems to me that a queen who trusts no one is as foolish as a queen who trusts everyone." Daenerys is something else when she's dolled up, isn't she? Once she becomes queen, she doesn't necessarily always dress up. Often times she's still revealing quite a bit of skin. But that doesn't mean that she can't be hot when she's dressed to the nines. After all, a pretty white dress that clings to her every curve is pretty awesome. And it certainly doesn't hurt when the cosplayer is gorgeous. I happen to think that most of the cosplayers I've come across who take on Daenerys Targaryen end up being better looking than Emilia Clarke. It's not to say that Clarke isn't hot. She kind of looks 16 which is strange because she's 30, but she ages very well. But her cosplayers just bring that legal maturity into the mix, and that makes me feel safe.
15 Daenerys Targaryen
"I am Daenerys Stormborn of House Targaryen, of the blood of Old Valyeria. I am the dragon's daughter, and I swear to you that those who would harm you will die screaming." Boy, oh boy, I would love to have a woman like that standing up for me. I mean, I'm confident in my ability to fight, but a fiery (pun intended) woman like that would just be too sweet. And while it is a bit strange to have the blonde head of hair with the brown eyebrows, I still have to say that this cosplayer is pretty good looking. And given that weird hair/eyebrow look, she is also very accurate. I don't understand it myself, but I certainly wouldn't be spending most of my time looking at her eyebrows. There are certainly more important things to pay attention to.
14 Margaery Tyrell
"Forget about the bloody gods and listen to what I'm telling you. Cersei understands the consequences of her absence and she is absent anyway, which means she does not intend to suffer those consequences. The trial can wait. We all need to leave." It's too bad that these are essentially the last words of this gorgeous character. Whatever will we do without Natalie Dormer on the show anymore? It might be difficult for us to get by, but that's why it's so wonderful to have beautiful cosplayers like this to relive the best parts of a character. Margaery will live on in the work of some very beautiful people who we will have no difficulty looking at. And given how much time there will be between now and the next season, it might be a good idea to soak in the cosplayers around the world, keeping Westeros alive.
"I didn't force you to open your mouth and make words come out." Shae may not have done that, but she also was never forced to open her mouth by Tyrion. She just did. And to anyone else who would pay her, unfortunately. It's amazing the world of insanity that the Lannisters grew up in because of Tywin. But either way, Shae was no good match for Tyrion. Thankfully, we can forget about what she did in the books and the show, and just take a look at this cosplay. Obviously, it's not as revealing as the show, but this website isn't run by HBO. That doesn't mean we can't appreciate some beautiful cosplayers though. After all, Tyrion appreciated Shae until...well we all know what happened.
12 Ellaria Sand
"It's always changing, who we're supposed to love and who we're not. The only thing that stays the same is that we want who we want." It's too bad that Ellaria and the sand snakes couldn't stick around longer. Sounds like a cool band name. But hey, like every other character who has died (or will die), we'll at least always have their cosplays to look fondly on. And even though this particular cosplay of Ellaria Sand features her with a tinfoil and papier-mache dragon, we can ignore that and focus on the hot cosplayer in front. She's done a very good job at keeping the outfit accurate too. That's always the best. Not only is the character accurate, but the person playing the character is smokin'. It makes for a good and easy escape from the show.
11 Margaery Tyrell Is A Gamer!
"We may be faced with an alarming number of weddings soon. I won't even know what to call you. Sister... or Mother?" I love that Margaery had the guts to say this to Cersei. Unfortunately, things didn't end up working out for Margaery, and all three of her husbands ended up dying too. Very bad luck. However, there is a very happy thing to behold. Margaery Tyrell is apparently a gamer girl! How wonderful is that? And in the world of this Margaery cosplayer, she finally managed to become "the queen". She sits the iron throne, showing off her very attractive outfit, gaming with who knows what group of geeky riff-raff. I would love to end up in a game with Margaery Tyrell. Even if it isn't really Natalie Dormer.
10 Mysterious Melisandre
"I've been ready to die for many years. If the Lord was done with me, so be it, but he's not." That's right. Her god is not done with her yet. She has to be part of a bunch of other deaths first, I'm willing to bet. Oh well. If nothing else, at least Melisandre is pretty smokin' (pun intended). I'd rather not be looking at some horribly ugly person while I am burnt alive. Thankfully, I'm pretty sure that the cosplayers of Melisandre do not command near as much power as the character. But they do command better looks, sometimes. And no one can really complain about that. Because once Melisandre bites the dust in Game of Thrones, we'll still have these cosplayers to look back on, and we'll all feel safe and sound.
9 Daenerys And Her Pet
"Woman? Is that meant to insult me? I would return the slap if I took you for a man." Oh, Daenerys has got some attitude, and I love it! And look at this hot yet hilarious cosplay. She's brought a friend along with her. Of course, it's just a plastic dragon, so it's hard to take seriously, but at least she's focused on the spirit of the character. And what's great is this is clearly Dany from when she first started really rolling with the Dothraki. She almost looks like a peasant. But she's got more skin showing because of that, so I suppose we can't really complain, can we? And she's got that signature head of blonde hair with those ridiculous brown eyebrows, so you know she's really trying to be accurate with the character.
8 Margaery Tyrell
"One of my husbands preferred the company of men and was stabbed through the heart. Another was happiest torturing animals and was poisoned at our wedding feast. I must be cursed." You know, it's kind of true. Margaery really didn't have the greatest of times in her life in Westeros. But whatever she was cursed with certainly did nothing to affect the way she looks. And it's amazing how almost every cosplayer I've seen who has taken on Margaery Tyrell ends up looking pretty damn close to Natalie Dormer. We may not get to see her in the show anymore, but there are women popping up all over who do a great job of looking like her. Now, the only thing is to find one of these lovely ladies, hopefully wooing her with a lance and a rose.
7 Khaleesi Drogo
"Maybe I told the Great Stallion to go f-ck himself, and came back here to wait for you." Even in a vision, Khal Drogo is pretty badass. This is the man who was going to go to "where the world ends" and sail the ocean to pillage the seven kingdoms for Dany. However, in this case, it's a very hot woman playing the role of Drogo. So, do we say Khaleesi Drogo then? This cosplayer does a pretty good job of cosplaying a character who's likely four times her size and built like a brick house. But she's got greater assets than Khal Drogo did.
6 Demure Dany
"Do you know what frightens me? I said farewell to a man who loves me. A man I thought I cared for. And I felt nothing. Just impatient to get on with it." The above cosplayer might not look like she'd say such a thing, but that's not important. Just look at how sweet and innocent she seems. Of course, if she's anything like the character she's playing, she's got a lot of fire under her. And she looks like she could have. But back to that quotation, it is kind of sad to think that Dany never really loved the guy. And it's also sad to think that while Tyrion might now be in love with her, he has to watch Dany and her nephew get it on. Not probably what you want to think about while you look at hot photos of Daenerys Targaryen, but that's what you get.
5 The Mad Queen
“The only way to keep your people loyal is to make certain they fear you more than they do the enemy.” I absolutely believe that this cosplayer would say such a line. She might not look like Lena Headey, but she does look like she could command as much fear. She has that look of cool confidence with an intense wildfire burning inside. And the photo is great because she already starts by looking down at everyone. It's just too bad that the iron throne she's sitting on looks like it has some red, blue and yellow Smarties attached to it. It kind of pulls the reality of the shot a bit. But if you stay focused on this cosplayer...damn. She knows how to work her character for sure. She's the praying mantis that everyone wants to be with, even though they know they're going to lose their head.
4 Sweeeet Cersei
“The only way to keep your people loyal is to make certain they fear you more than they do the enemy.” Alright, so she's really not all that sweet at all. She's a horrible human being, and everyone knows it. But that's beside the point here. Because we just get to enjoy cosplays here, without her insanity. And I have to be totally honest here. The above photo isn't so much a cosplay as it is an ad for a Halloween costume of Cersei Lannister. In a sense, it is a cosplay because it's a model wearing the costume and sort of playing the role. But ultimately it's just a model doing her best to look hot. Of course, that could make this cosplay pretty accurate since Cersei did happen to say “Tears aren’t a woman’s only weapon. The best one’s between your legs.”
3 Sansa Stark
"And yet, you betrayed me. When you brought me back to Winterfell, you told me there is no justice in the world not unless we make it. Thank you for all your many lessons, Lord Baelish. I will never forget them." Oh Sansa, thank you for finally growing a backbone. It took so long for anyone to really like her character, I think. But now there are even cosplays of Sansa Stark showing up. To be fair, I don't think a single one of them will ever come close to looking as hot as Sophie Turner, but that could just be my personal preference. That doesn't mean that we can't appreciate a good Sansa cosplay. It just means that they'll never quite amount to the amazing beauty that is Sophie Turner. It's pretty hard for anyone to. It's pretty well her and Natalie Dormer (and we don't even have her in the show anymore).
2 Catelyn Stark
"All his life Tyrion had prided himself on his cunning, the only gift the gods had seen fit to give him, yet this seven-times-damned she-wolf Catelyn Stark had outwitted him at every turn. The knowledge was more galling than the bare fact of his abduction." That's right, Catelyn Stark is one smart lady. But I don't know of anyone who watched the show thinking she was a super hot character. However, this gorgeous cosplayer here makes it far more appealing. Sure, she's got a very innocent sort of roleplay about her, but who doesn't like that every once in a while? I just can't even really picture Lady Catelyn looking anything less attractive than this cosplayer now. Which is really going to mess with my head when I go back and watch the show.
1 Some GoT Inspiration
“Never forget what you are, for surely the world will not. Make it your strength. Then it can never be your weakness. Armour yourself in it, and it will never be used to hurt you.” George R. R. Martin has got some pretty wise words throughout his books. It's a shame that not all of the worthy quotes make the show. But a decent amount do. Either way, the books and the show are inspiring enough to produce cosplays like this. This is no particular character from either the book or the show, but you could make a case for a Stark or one of their bannermen thanks to the fur. It's only revealing because it's a cosplay. This particular player decided to create a costume that could fit in the world of Westeros, without taking on a specific character. And I have to say that I'm glad she did.
