17 Things That Happened Post-9/11 That Just Don't Add Up

September 11, 2001 was one of the most shocking and horrific terror attacks of all time. For many of us, that day will be burned into our memory for the rest of our lives, and we will never forget. It was a huge shock to everyone who witnessed the event, and at some points it seemed even surreal, almost like a bad dream that you couldn't wake up from. It was all so strange. How could something like this happen? Watching those planes fly into the towers was almost like a scene from a movie. It was hard to accept. But this event was very real, and it cost countless people their lives, shaking their families irrevocably.

Maybe the shocking nature of it is what caused so many people to ask so many questions. There was a sense of widespread denial, a rejection that something like this could ever happen. There had to have been some other explanation for this. It had to have happened in a way that was somehow hidden or covered up. Perhaps this denial was a psychological reaction to the shock of the incident. But perhaps there was some truth to it. Many years have passed since 9/11, and there's still something about this event that is obscured by the fog of uncertainty. There are still so many unanswered questions. There are still so many things that don't quite add up.

17 Building 7 Collapsed

via: youtube.com

One of the weirdest things that happened after the 9/11 attacks was the collapse of Building 7. A lot of people don't even know that there were actually 3 buildings that collapsed that fateful day, and building 7 was the last of them. The way it came down left many people feeling suspicious – but here's the official story: Building 7 was damaged by debris flying from the two main World Trade Center towers, and this debris caused fires. Firefighters attempted to extinguish the flames, but were unsuccessful. The firefighters then noticed a bulge in the side of the building. Finally, it collapsed, and the official story is that this was because of debris from the World Trade Center towers.

But this story left a lot of people feeling very suspicious. How could debris cause a building to fall over? Not suddenly fall over, mind you, but gradually get weaker and eventually collapse. Many people, including experts in this field, have suggested that it bears the hallmarks of a controlled demolition. There are many videos on this subject.

16 Israeli Students Were Found Dancing While Watching

via: infowars.com

Another very strange thing that happened after the towers fell involved three Israeli students. These students were found filming the collapse, standing outside of a white van, and acting very "entertained" by the whole thing. There are even some reports that the students were dancing. To the average person, it would seem that these individuals must have had prior knowledge that the attack was going to take place, because they didn't seem surprised or shocked in the same way that most other onlookers were. This caused enough suspicion for the police to arrest these individuals.

Witnesses were the ones who called the police, angry that people seemed to be mocking such a tragedy and filming it like it was some sort of entertaining event. One witness said, "They were like happy, you know… They didn't look shocked to me." The FBI conducted a full investigation on them, and they were eventually released. The exact findings of this investigation are still classified.

15 The Hole Left In The Pentagon Was Too Small

via: fema.gov

Another very suspicious sign that arose after 9/11 involved the attack on the Pentagon. This was one out of three planes that successfully hit its target that fateful day, and it often gets less media attention than the more high-profile attacks on the World Trade Center. But there was something very thought-provoking that came out of this attack, and it all had to do with the size of the hole left in the side of the Pentagon. Many people immediately saw these pictures and were stunned at how a full plane had managed to fit into such a tiny hole. There have been various theories that suggest it was not a plane that hit the Pentagon, but that it was in fact something else.

The official explanation for the size of the hole is as follows: When the plane approached the Pentagon, one of the wings was torn off by the ground, prior to impact. The other wing ripped off and flew into the building above the puncture hole, upon impact. Furthermore, officials maintain that it was not the plane's fuselage that caused the hole, but rather its landing gear. The rest of the plane, according to them, turned into something "more liquid than solid."

14 The Black Boxes Were Never Recovered

via: historyrundown.com

Another strange thing to develop in the aftermath of the 9/11 attacks involved the black boxes – or the complete lack of them. Not a single black box was actually found out of all three planes that were hijacked. Each plane is supposed to be equipped with multiple black boxes, and these things are built specifically to be completely indestructible, even in the most devastating of explosions and crashes. It seems inconceivable then, that not a single one was found, especially when you consider that all of the attacks/crashes happened on land, with one of the planes crashing into a field with no real rubble to sort through.

Many conspiracy theorists point to the lack of black boxes as proof of a cover-up. Why are black boxes so important? They store a huge amount of valuable data that would reveal what actually happened on those planes, the audio recordings, and perhaps most importantly, the exact cause of the crash. There are many rumors of firefighters witnessing FBI or CIA officials confiscating black boxes found by workers, and then never hearing of them again.

13 Flight 93's Crash Looked Like It Had Been Shot Down

via: stj911.org

One of the most tragic things to have happened regarding 9/11 was the case of flight 93. This was the flight which crashed before it could reach its intended target, Washington DC. The official story is that it crashed because passengers had fought the hijackers and in that struggle, the plane was steered into the ground. Whether this was a deliberate or accidental move is unknown. But flight 93 is the subject of many, many conspiracy theories put forth by those who reject this official story.

The main conspiracy theory about flight 93 is that it was shot down by a United States Aircraft. But other there are other theories, like one which suggests that passengers who would have boarded planes used to attack other targets that day were all loaded onto flight 93, where they were later killed by a missile. This is what links almost all theories together – the fact that flight 93 didn't crash, it was shot down. The evidence for this is suggested to be the nature of the "crash." Because wreckage was found scattered over a huge area, some have suggested that the plane was breaking up in the sky before hitting the ground, because of a missile strike.

12 The BBC May Have Participated In The Cover-Up

via: humansarefree.com

The news coverage of this terror attack was how most of witnessed it on that fateful day, and if you lived in the UK, chances are you watched it on BBC. But the BBC was actually the focus of a major conspiracy theory surrounding 9/11. First of all, when the BBC reported on this story, they made a statement that building 7 had collapsed. There was only one problem. Building 7 was still standing – and it was within view behind the reporter who made the statement. About 90 minutes later, it really did collapse. This has led many to believe that the BBC had some kind of prior knowledge about the attack. It was almost as if they were reading off a script, and someone jumped forward a few pages by accident.

Then there was a strange situation involving the BBC releasing a list of all 19 hijackers. When this list was made public, people soon found out that many of the names on the list were people who were still alive. The BBC later claimed they had made a mistake because so many of the hijackers and other Middle Eastern men were called "Mohammed." They also claimed the building 7 report was a mistake as well, and according to them, it was due to a junior journalist who said "the building has collapsed" instead of "the building is expected to collapse." To get an idea of how suspicious this all is, a man in the UK actually won a court case against the BBC for providing false information during 9/11.

11 Osama Bin Laden's Confession Tapes Were Not Translated Properly

via: humansarefree.com

Most people are under the impression that Osama Bin Laden was responsible for the 9/11 attacks. But many people forget that in the days and hours immediately after the attacks, he categorically denied having anything to do with them in a recorded statement. In the statement, he claims that America loves to blame him for every attack, and that he wouldn't have been able to carry out the attacks in his present situation. Then, a few days later, a new statement was released in which Osama Bin Laden went back on his earlier claim, and took full responsibility for the attack.

But there have been multiple people who have come forward and claimed that this statement was extremely poorly translated from Arabic to English, and many of the things he said were not translated properly. This throws doubt on the entire statement. Following statements were looked at with equal suspicion by many, who saw video feeds of an Osama Bin Laden who was noticeably heavier-set, and had rings where he didn't have them before.

10 Americans Attacked Sikhs

via: npr.org

Another very strange and horrible thing that happened after 9/11 was the fact that many angry Americans attacked Sikhs. Race-motivated violence skyrocketed after 9/11, and it was primarily between people of Middle Eastern origin and American citizens, or people who considered themselves to be "true Americans." One example was a teenage boy who was beaten to death by other Middle-Eastern teens after the attack. But perhaps the most strange attacks were those against Sikh people.

For those who don't know, Sikhism is very different from Islam. In past history, the two religions have even come into conflict with each other on more than one occasion, and the religion itself was created very much as a reaction against both Hinduism and Islam. But when Americans wanted someone to blame for 9/11, many targeted Sikhs because they didn't know the difference between the two groups. One Sikh man was tragically killed in the days following 9/11 as a result.

9 The Bin Laden Family Was Allowed To Escape The US

via: anydisaster.com

One of the strangest things that happened after 9/11 involved Osama Bin Laden's family. At the time of the attacks, a huge number of Osama Bin Laden's family members were living in the US, many of whom were studying at high schools and universities. After 9/11, all of these relatives of Bin Laden were allowed to leave the country, reportedly after a travel ban had been lifted. The New York Times reported that A Saudi prince had organized these family members to be extracted from the US, many of whom were escorted and given protection by the FBI.

According to a statement issued by the Department of Justice as part of a Freedom Of Information request, "newly released US government records show that Federal Bureau of Investigation agents gave personal airport escorts to two prominent Saudi families who fled the US, while several other Saudis were allowed to leave the country without first being interviewed." These planes were allegedly private charters that were paid for by Saudi royalty and the Bin Laden family. For many, this sparks suspicions of the US's ties to the Bin Laden family, especially the CIA.

8 Conspiracy Theorists Mysteriously Met Tragic Ends

via: minds.com

Perhaps the strangest things that happened regarding 9/11 were the suspiciously high death rates of reporters and conspiracy theorists who challenged the "official story" about 9/11. Phillip Marshall was one example. He was an ex-pilot who was speaking out about the CIA on a multitude of subjects. He mainly focused on alleged CIA drug trafficking activity, but prior to his death he is rumored to have leaked classified information about 9/11.

He was found dead in his home, and the official story is that he committed suic*de after a split from his wife. He allegedly shot both his children and his dog before turning the gun on himself, shooting himself in the left temple with his right hand... The Big Bamboozle: 9/11 and the War on Terror was his book about 9/11, and it contained many interesting theories. He also maintained that Mossad, the Clintons and the Bushes were all heavily involved in the drug trade. Many fellow journalists suggest that he was killed for what he was saying.

7 America Invaded Iraq, Who Was Not Responsible For 9/11

via: wikipedia.org

One thing that happened after 9/11 that has confused people for years is the invasion of Iraq. George W. Bush seemed intent on invading this country as revenge for 9/11, even though the nation really had nothing to do with it. In the months after 9/11, George Bush reportedly met with officials and advisers and made it adamantly clear that he wanted the invasion of Iraq to happen, regardless of whether or not they were to blame for terrorist activity. The official story is the Osama Bin Laden was responsible for 9/11, but he was living in Afghanistan at the time.

While Afghanistan was invaded as well by the American forces, the invasion of Iraq was very much an expansion of the war effort in Afghanistan, as part of a global "War On Terror," which was sparked after 9/11. The War On Terror still rages on to this day. It was almost as if George W. Bush was using the tragedy as an excuse to invade nations that were rich in certain resources, as he knew the American people would likely be blinded by their thirst for revenge. The official reason behind invading Iraq was their possession of weapons of mass destruction. Those weapons were famously never found.

6 Airport Security Went Through The Roof

via: prezi.com

Something else that seemed to spring forth as a direct result of the 9/11 attacks was a huge increase in airport security. This is a legacy that lives on to this day, and most young people don't even remember a time when traveling by air was a much simpler and less invasive affair. Now they have X-ray machines that scan your entire body, much more personnel, and random screenings happen at a much higher rate. 9/11 woke everyone up to the possibility of using aircraft as weapons of mass destruction. While the public has been inconvenienced, another attack like 9/11 has never happened again, at least in America.

But some suggest that it's a little too convenient that airport security rose at a time when the so-called "New World Order" was pushing for these kinds of changes to be made. Was this all part of the plan to increase control of the population? Is this sudden increase in security going to keep getting more and more invasive and controlling, to the point where "Big Brother" can control where we go what we do? If you believe in a shadow government that wants ultimate control, you have to ask the question of whether these terrorist attacks truly are random.

5 Larry Silverstein Made Billions In Insurance Money

via: mycreopoint.com

9/11 was a horrible and unforgettable tragedy in American history, but what's even more horrible than that is that someone actually profited greatly from the terrorist attack. This man is Larry Silverstein. This was the guy who actually owned the World Trade Center buildings, and he collected an insurance sum worth billions after the towers fell, making him a very rich man indeed. Even stranger is the fact that he took out a huge insurance plan in the days immediately prior to the attacks, which specified coverage under the event of a terrorist attack.

Larry Silverstein also took the insurance company to court, claiming that he should be paid double because there were two attacks instead of one. He won, and was awarded over 4.5 billion dollars. But before we go painting this guy as a total villain, there are some things to consider. Larry Silverstein actually needed that money to rebuild the World Trade Center, and he also owed money to investors who had put money into the building. So some would say he was justified in getting as much money out of it as possible.

4 Obama Vetoed A Bill Allowing Families To Sue Saudi Arabia For 9/11

via: cnn.com

One of the strangest stories to gain mainstream media coverage was the link between Saudi Arabia and the 9/11 attacks. Families that lost loved ones during these attacks chose to sue the Middle Eastern countries after information was made public that linked several Saudi intelligence officials to the planning and execution of the 9/11 attacks. Usually, a foreign country cannot be tried in American courts, but in this case, it went all the way through the supreme courts until it was ultimately vetoed by Barack Obama, who shut it down.

15 out of 19 of the hijackers were from Saudi Arabia. The lawyer who brought this to court stated, "We've long asserted that there were longstanding and close relationships between al Qaeda and the religious components of the Saudi government." Among the legal documents presented in court were some that stated the Saudi government funded a "dry run" of 9/11. This involved Saudi intelligence officials trying to gain access to the cockpit numerous times, asking the crew technical questions, and generally making everyone very suspicious.

3 It Was The Birth Of Mass Surveillance

via: youtube.com

Another massive change that happened after 9/11 was the huge increase in surveillance. Back in the day, before 9/11, people led rather private lives. Now, all Americans are being spied on by the NSA, and it's become common knowledge that no one is really safe. In addition, all the comments you ever make on the internet are collected and stored for future reference. Even phone calls are tapped. The US has also invested heavily in drones and CCTV cameras pretty much everywhere you go.

The phrase "Big Brother is always watching" definitely applies here. Is what they're doing even legal? With the help of 9/11, it is now. The Patriot Act changed a lot of things about America, and now the NSA is given free rein to spy on pretty much anyone it feels like it... This means they spy on everyone. Again, some think it's a little too convenient that these worrisome developments happened as a direct result of 9/11, and some even say this was the plan all along in order to increase control on the population.

2 Insider Trading Prior To The WTC Attacks - Leading To Huge Profits

via: wordpress.com

Another example of people seemingly profiting off 9/11 is insider trading before 9/11 happened. The stock market took a major hit after this terrorist attack, as investors panicked and sold tons of stock. Especially affected were the stocks of the two major American airline companies, United and AA. But upon closer inspection, it seems that a select few people sold all of their stock, seemingly for no reason, prior to the attacks. Even the most skeptical of people consider this to be suspicious, and it's something that the authorities looked into.

The official story is that they were just fortunate to have the "instinct" to sell before the attack took place. What's obvious is that they saved tons of money while other investors lost huge sums. Some lost their savings. But how did they know to do this? Many theorists believe that those in the 1% knew the attack was going to take place, or were warned by powerful people in American government and corporations to sell.

1 9/11 Allowed The USA To Indefinitely Detain Anyone Suspected Of Terrorism

via: cnn.com

Perhaps the most significant change that happened after the 9/11 attacks was the Patriot Act. We've already talked about many results and consequences of the Patriot Act, namely increased airport security and widespread surveillance. But perhaps the most disturbing effect of the Patriot Act involves the detention of terror suspects. The greatest example of this is the infamous Guantanamo Bay, a prison near Cuba which holds some of America's most dangerous terror suspects. But it's the manner in which they are detained that has a lot of people worried. You see, according to the Patriot Act, the US can legally detain anyone suspected of terrorism, and they can hold them in detention indefinitely. Just to spell that out – in order to get sent to Guantanamo Bay, you don't even need to have done anything wrong. The US only needs to suspect you did something wrong without concrete proof. And once you're there, they can keep you for as long as they want, without ever charging you with a single crime.

There have been numerous innocent people who have been detained and released from this prison. How many other innocent people are now being held there right now? What if the US decided that it would just detain people that it didn't like, or people that it thought posed a threat to its control? They could legally do that right now. What if it was you? Many people have pointed out again that it seems very convenient that 9/11 happened, since it's the perfect excuse to crack down on the entire population, and bypass the justice system altogether.
