If you're one of these fans, then you're going to want to stay tuned for this list of the upcoming horror movies that will leave you lying awake at night wishing you weren’t alone.

15 Annabelle: Creation

If you're a fan of The Conjuring franchise as well as Annabelle, then you're not going to want to miss the next installment, Annabelle: Creation. The movie brings you back to the very beginning: how the doll was created and how it got such an evil spirit inside of it. The spirit is so evil that the people involved believe that it’s the Devil itself in the doll. The story follows a family who loses their daughter tragically, and after a few years, the family tries to move on by inviting a nun and many girls from an orphanage to stay with them. These unsuspecting girls become the new target for the doll, and she doesn’t like to play nice. Just watching the trailer, we managed to jump multiple times, so if you're looking to be scared senseless, then you're going to want to tune it to this movie being released in August.

14 IT

The much-anticipated remake of Stephen King’s IT is set to be released in October, right in time for Halloween. If you’re anything like us, we were scarred as children by the release of the original IT; it’s the kind of movie that sticks with you over the years. It may have something to do with the fear involved when it comes to clowns. The remake is supposed to be even scarier and has IT more psychologically damaged and with a new look as well. It follows the story of the small town of Derry where the crime rate in missing persons is reaching an all-time high. It’s not just anyone going missing; it’s the local children and their bloody remains that are turning up everywhere. A group of kids who are connected based on their encounters with the clown bands together to kill the clown once and for all. But they soon find that it’s just not as easy as that.

13 Flatliners

Remember the horror film that starred Julia Roberts, Kevin Bacon, and Kiefer Sutherland before they were really famous? Well, that creepy film is being remade and released in September of this year, and Kiefer will be reprising his role as Nelson, one of the characters from the original. It takes the remake to a whole new level since Kiefer will be involved, and it allows for the character, who changes his name to keep the old story under wraps, to help a new set of university students to determine if it’s a “good day to die.” The movie will star Ellen Page as well as Nina Dobrev from The Vampire Diaries as some of the students willing to participate. The movie is clearly not your typical remake; it’s more of a sequel to the original, but we're definitely looking forward to its release.

12 Selfie from Hell

We can just imagine how the act of selfies can be turned into a horror movie, especially if it’s based on someone being obsessed with their self-image. This movie is being released this year, and we can’t wait to see it. This is the story of an online blogger by the name of Julia who comes to visit her cousin Hannah in the United States. While visiting her cousin, Julia becomes ill, and at the same time, weird things start happening in Hannah’s home. Hannah starts doing some research on the internet to try to figure out what the mysterious and strange illness is. When Hannah stumbles across Julia’s blog, she gets entangled in a dark web and is convinced to go into the black room. That’s where Hannah will truly experience some serious terror. It’s a seriously interesting storyline that will make for a great horror movie this year.

11 Saw: Legacy

If you're a fan of horror gore, then you're sure to love the 8th installment of the Saw franchise Saw: Legacy. Another epic release just in time for Halloween, this movie has Jigsaw at it again with his sick and twisted psychological games. The story goes that bodies start piling up all over the city in the same way that they always do, with victims meeting grisly deaths in creative and different ways. But how is this possible when Jigsaw is dead? Or is he? Investigations into the murders certainly point their finger to the crazy killer John Kramer, but is he really back? If you've been a Saw fan from the beginning, then you aren’t going to want to miss another movie that not only makes you think about the decisions you make in life but will power those thoughts with bucketfuls of blood.

10 Patient Zero

If zombies are your cup of tea, then you won’t want to miss Patient Zero. It’s a movie about infected people, and you know what that means. In this movie, there's an “unprecedented global pandemic” that threatens humankind. Once this outbreak occurs, the world faces their fate as most of humankind has been turned into a violent breed of humans that are considered to be "infected" people. What makes this movie different from all the rest is the fact that there's a doctor who can speak the language of the infected, whatever that is. He leads the survivors to find Patient Zero, who is played by Stanley Tucci, in the hopes that they can find a cure for the infected. It’s got a pretty good cast that includes not only Tucci but also Natalie Dormer and Clive Standen. It's also set to be released this year, though no official date has been given yet.

9 Cult of Chucky

What’s Halloween without Chucky but a boring one indeed? With the Cult of Chucky, we have yet another installment of the horror classic involving a doll possessed by the spirit of a serial killer. Chucky has no intention of staying dead because he has revenge on his mind. There have been many years where wrong things have been done to him, and he’s coming back to even the score. Not only does he want to terrorize the human that is now in his life, the beautiful Nica, but he’s going to spend the rest of the movie making life horrifying for a few people, and he has his former wife, played by the mysterious Jennifer Tilly by his side. The Chucky franchise has certainly become a cult classic over the years, and if you have a love for this doll, then you won’t want to miss it.

8 Cain Hill

Nothing is creepier than a horror movie that involves a mental institution. That’s Cain Hill, a well-known institution located in London. It’s the story of a group of filmmakers who want to make a documentary about the institution. Of course, it’s one of the creepiest establishments you would ever want to be inside, never mind sleepover at. The goal was to film the events that occurred at the asylum many years ago, as well as to get to the bottom of the abductions and murders that have been occurring at Cain Hill since it shut down. They get more than they bargained for, however, as the group of people soon come to realize that there's someone still living at Cain Hill, and he’s not happy to see them. One of the inmates from so very long ago doesn't like unwelcome guests. Sounds like a movie similar to House on Haunted Hill, except this time, the killer is alive and real.

7 Wish Upon

If you’ve missed seeing Ryan Phillippe in horror since I Know What You Did Last Summer, then you're going to want to tune into Wish Upon. The premise of the story is a girl finds a box, and you already know she has no business touching it or even looking at it. But she decides it’s a great idea to take this box home and see what kind of magical powers it has. Sure, the powers are cool and everything, but opening that box comes with a deadly price that she and her friends are going to learn about soon enough. The interesting part about the movie is the magic involved. The girl gets to have seven wishes of her choice, but we all know that if it sounds too good to be true, then it probably is. The girl starts using her wishes for her own personal gain, and because the box is home to an evil entity, bad things start happening around the girl, and death follows her.

6 Amityville: The Awakening

If you love good old-fashioned ghost stories, then you aren’t going to want to miss Amityville: The Awakening. It’s the 14th installment in this classic horror franchise, and it’s one that you aren’t going to want to miss. Bella Thorne and Jennifer Jason Leigh are the stars of this flick, and it follows the story of a family who moves into the epic yet creepy home. The story has a twist, though, this time around because the mother is unmarried and raising her two children herself. Bella Thorne plays the older sister to a brother who is comatose. Nothing is worse than being in a horror movie, that is, unless you're helpless and sleeping in a coma. As the hauntings begin, the brother starts to come out of the coma, which makes you wonder if he’s possessed while other strange and terrifying things are occurring all over the house.

5 Halloween: The Night Evil Died

Will Michael Myers ever die? Or is he going to be haunting the Strode family forever? This guy has some true hatred for the family even though he's wiped out most of them. You won’t see Jamie Lee Curtis in this installment of the Halloween franchise, but that doesn’t mean it won’t be a good flick. This Halloween film will, of course, be released in October, and it follows the events that happened in Halloween Resurrection. Emma is part of the new generation of Strodes, and she’s taking her friends on a road trip to meet her great grandmother, Pamela Strode. Pamela is the oldest living relative of the Strode family, and of course, Myers wants to make sure he wipes out as many of the remaining family members as possible. Will he succeed in wiping out the family this time? Or will Myers meet his fate, which is implied by the title?

4 Crepitus

This is a story that involves not only sisters who have to deal with living with a drunken mother, but there are also secrets that won’t stay hidden in their family. There is a lot in this movie that can traumatize a couple of kids, but this is just the beginning. Due to their mother’s unstable lifestyle, the girls are forced to go live at their deceased grandfather’s home. It's there that they begin to learn horrible secrets that involve their family history. If that isn’t bad enough, their grandfather’s house is haunted, and there's a cannibalistic clown called Crepitus that has taken some interest in the girls. Talk about a lot of twists and turns just for one horror movie storyline! It’s certainly an interesting storyline, and it’s out just in time for Halloween. Hopefully, the girls will not be the dinner of some sadistic clown, but there’s only one way to find out.

3 Death House

What could go wrong when a bunch of people goes on a tour of a secret prison? The fact that it’s secret at all should tell you that it’s bad news. The Death House is the name of this secret prison, and it’s no normal prison. When a group of people goes into the prison, there's a power outage, which is only the beginning of a terrorizing experience. Two agents are then left to find their way out of a prison that's closer to a labyrinth as they come across evil horrors like nothing they've ever experienced. The agents are pursued by ruthless inmates that are out for blood. When they go down to the lower facility, they discover some supernatural beings, and they're the only ones that could possibly help the agents get away -- an interesting take on the horror genre with a lot of gore.

2 Alice

Nothing speaks true horror other than a trip out to a remote country home where unspeakable crimes occur. That’s where we get such legends as Wrong Turn, Friday the 13th, and Sleep Away Camp. These are the movies that bring us teenagers and college students who want to get away from it all only to be butchered in the woods, far away from any kind of help. Alice is the story of four women who are invited out to their college professor's summer country home for a little rest and relaxation. Unbeknownst to them, however, the home is not your average home; it has a malevolent past that is sure to give them an interesting weekend. Whether or not the professor is aware of this entity before he brings guests to his home is something you'll have to see for yourself -- another Halloween addition to the list of great movies coming out.

1 Jeepers Creepers III

Although the film was shut down last year, it’s apparently back up and running as the next installment of Jeepers Creepers. This movie is not a sequel to the second movie but a sequel to the first. It’s supposed to follow the original storyline that involved the characters played by Justin Long and Gina Philips, two siblings that run into the creature while on a road trip. Jeepers Creepers 3 will involve a group of hunters that know all about the Creepers mythology. Philips will be returning for a brief stint in the movie as well as some voice work. If you love the Jeepers Creepers franchise, then you're sure to love the idea that there will also be a fourth installment as well that follows Phillips's story completely. Justin, of course, did not survive the film, so we’re not sure how the hunters are connected with Phillips.
