15 Times Scarlett Johansson Was Too Hot To Handle

In the entertainment industry, many actors find themselves on the hunt for success, regardless of age. Each year, thousands of people flock to Hollywood to find fame and fortune, though few are able to break the mould and achieve what they desire most. A lot of people in the entertainment industry begin trying to catch their big break during childhood, and that certainly applies to the focal point of this article: Scarlett Johansson. She appeared in her first film role prior to the age of 12 - and she hasn't looked back since.

Born in New York City back in 1984, Scarlett Johansson has worked diligently to forge an incredibly successful acting career, and her hard work over the years has been seen and praised by millions of adoring fans and critics alike. She's been on the cover of pretty much every major fashion magazine, and has starred in some of the most financially successful films of all-time.

Aside from her work in film, Johansson has also done some work on television, and has even performed live on stage. The actress is also involved in several charitable endeavors, making her beautiful both inside and out. Factor in a couple of albums, and you have yourself one of the most talented entertainers in the world.  Lucky for us, she's only getting started. Throughout her adult career, Johansson has had men all around the world daydreaming about her, and this list should help those lustful souls find some truly beautiful moments from one of the world's most famous people.

15 The Prestige (2006)

Now this, my friends, was a fantastic movie. Released back when I was still doing my best Randall Graves impression while working at Blockbuster Video, The Prestige was one of the few movies that I truly fell in love with. Directed by the man responsible for The Dark Knight TrilogyThe Prestige had audiences mesmerized, and the performers in the film are a huge reason why.

Scarlett Johansson did a phenomenal job in her role as Olivia Wenscombe, and her performance was more than able to hold its own in the star-studded film. Critics loved the film, and audiences seemed to agree for the most part. During its theatrical run, The Prestige was able to rake in an impressive 109 million dollars, which is no small feat for a film focused around rival magicians. Considering that The Prestige nearly tripled its production budget, I'd chalk this one up as a success.

14 Cosmopolitan Magazine (May 2016)

Scarlett Johansson had an incredibly impressive 2016, and one look at her success over the course of the year would leave most people speechless. In 2016, Scarlett starred in several highly successful films, including: The Jungle BookCaptain America: Civil War, and Sing. In total, her films would go on to generate over 2 billion dollars of box office revenue, making her 2016 one for the ages. Naturally, the performer's success has come with fame, fortune, and some fantastic features in the world's top magazines. This shoot here is elegant and features some incredible modeling work from the actress.

She has proven to be an incredibly talented and successful performer throughout her career, and Scarlett Johansson shows no signs of slowing down. In 2017, the actress has a few films on tap, and she will continue to portray her character Black Widow in future installments to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

13 Under the Skin Premiere (September 2013)

In the world of film, many performers find both success and failures at a number of points throughout their careers. Virtually no performer is able to have a long career without some minor hiccups along the way. Though they may choose the right role and perform the part to rave reviews, this doesn't always translate to financial success. In 2013, Scarlett Johansson starred in the film Under the Skin, and the actress would experience this first-hand.

Her performance in the film garnered much praise from critics. She's proven to be incredibly talented in a number of different roles, and in a number of different genres. Under the Skin is a science fiction film, a genre in which Johansson has performed in before. Unfortunately, the movie failed to make much of an impact at the box office. During its run, it only made 7 million dollars, which is incredibly disappointing considering that this film actually had some solid reviews.

12 Iron Man 2 (2010)

Kicking off with 2008's Iron Man, the Marvel Cinematic Universe has been nothing short of a dynamic force in the film industry. With each new installment, Disney has found tremendous success, despite some relatively unknown characters (like 2015's Ant-Man) and at times repetitive story-telling (like 2016's Doctor Strange) that some people have criticized them for. In 2010, Scarlett Johansson made her Marvel Cinematic Universe debut as Black Widow in the film Iron Man 2.

Since her debut in the film, Johansson's character Black Widow has become a mainstay in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and her character is incredibly popular among fans. These films are slowly reaching their zenith, as the Infinity Gauntlet story is slowly starting to unfold. Despite the huge number of performers that are now part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Black Widow remains a prominent and important figure in the films. Though she may never get her own solo film, fans will continue to show some love for a truly great character.

11 Hail, Caesar! (2016)

Sometimes, even a modest success can come across as a failure of sorts. When compared to her other films that were released in 2016, Hail, Caesar! may be looked at as a relative dud. Then again, it's the only film that Scarlett Johansson performed in that failed to reach 400 million dollars at the box office. This movie seemed to be another case of great reviews, but poor box office numbers. Nevertheless, Johansson's 2016 is still truly impressive.

The film's cast had enough star-power in their names to generate some serious box office heat. A number of the performers in the film have tasted incredible amounts of box office success, but that didn't seem to help the film one bit. Despite the critical praise, Hail, Caesar! wound up making only 63 million dollars during its theatrical run. Now, while that number isn't terrible, it's still just a raindrop in an ocean when compared to her other films from 2016.

10 He's Just Not That Into You Premiere (February 2009)

When this film was released near Valentine's Day in 2009, I don't believe that anyone on the planet thought that this movie would fail. Given the cast of the film, its genre, and the fact that it seemed like it could be pretty funny, He's Just Not That Into You was destined for box office success. Low and behold, the star-studded film would go on to haul in 181 million dollars during its theatrical run.

Scarlett Johansson's portrayal of character Anna Marks was excellent, and the actress found herself standing out in a film that featured almost every famous person on the planet back in 2009. For the most part, He's Just Not That Into You received mixed reviews, but there's really no way to stop the perfect storm once it starts. This movie was destined for box office success, and now serves as quite the resume booster for each performer in the film.

9 Vogue Magazine (October 2012)

Though Scarlett Johansson was featured in only a couple of films in 2012, she really made the most of her screen time. In May of 2012, the actress would star in the film The Avengers, and the box office haul for the film would raise the Marvel Cinematic Universe to new heights. The success of this film would make the genre of superhero films a near unstoppable force in the entertainment industry.

Reprising her role as Black Widow, Johansson once again showed the world that she was perfect for the role. The actress is able to be rugged and tough, as well as deliver lines that have audiences laughing hysterically. The Avengers would go on to make 1.5 billion dollars at the box office that year, and is still the highest-grossing superhero film of all-time. As for her other film in 2012, Johansson was also featured in the film Hitchcock, which would haul in 27.5 million dollars that same year.

8 Elle Magazine (April 2013)

Following an incredibly successful 2012 that saw the actress star in the highest-grossing superhero film of all-time, 2013 would see Scarlett Johansson taking on several different roles to varying degrees of success. Though her films that year failed to match the financial success of The Avengers, Johansson's films would garner much critical acclaim, and some would have modest financial success.

Of the films that she appeared in during 2013, the film Her may be the performers biggest success. The film was critically acclaimed, and would rake in 48 million dollars at the box office. Her would go on to be nominated for an impressive number of prestigious awards, and wound up winning several, including an Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay. What's interesting to note here is that Johansson doesn't physically act in the film. She merely provides a voice for the main character's operating system. Nevertheless, her voice acting was phenomenal, and helped the film achieve that success that it did.

7 2011 Academy Awards (February 2011)

Before the release of her lone film in 2011, Scarlett Johansson had onlookers begging for more at the Academy Awards. Her appearance had viewers patiently waiting for her next film, though they would have to wait quite some time. Sandwiched between two monster years that featured performances in two films that are part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Scarlett Johansson had only one film role in 2011, and lucky for her, the film had an impressive box office run. While the film's financial success wasn't in the same stratosphere as The Avengers, Johansson still enjoyed a terrific box office run in 2011.

Released in December of that year, We Bought a Zoo would hit theaters just in time for the holiday season. For the most part, We Bought a Zoo received some solid reviews from critics, and the family-friendly film was an easy choice for most households that December. During its theatrical run, We Bought a Zoo would make an impressive 120 million dollars.

6 Don Jon (2013)

By now, most everyone on the planet is familiar with Scarlett Johansson. She's talented, successful, and is as beautiful as they come. The actress has an undeniable sex appeal, and when she's on fire, there are few people in the entertainment industry that can keep up. In 2013, Johansson would star in the film Don Jon, and delivered what might be her sexiest role to date. For those of you who have had the pleasure of watching this film, you know just what I mean.

For the role of Barbara Sugarman, Johansson cranked the heat up to 11, and had audiences (and lead character Jon Martello) begging for more. For her performance in the film, Scarlett Johansson would be nominated for a Gotham Award for Best Actress. If you haven't had a chance to watch this movie, I strongly advise that you drop what you're doing and watch Don Jon immediately.

5 Lucy (2014)

By the time 2014 rolled around, audiences had grown accustomed to the fact that Johansson was a perfect actress to portray a truly badass female lead character. So it was fitting that the actress was cast as the lead role in the science fiction film Lucy, which allowed the actress to do what she seemingly does best. The action film was released in the summer of 2014, and had an impressive performance during its time in theaters around the world.

Critics seemed to enjoy the film for the most part, and their reviews, coupled with the explosive trailers for the film, helped Lucy become a massive success. In total, the film grossed 463 million dollars, making it quite the summer blockbuster. Even outside of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Johansson has shown that she is more than capable of being the face of an action film that that hauls in huge numbers.

4 Vanity Fair Magazine (May 2014)

Much like several other years in her career, 2014 was a huge year for Scarlett Johansson. As I mentioned earlier, Lucy was an incredibly successful film, grossing 463 million dollars at the summer box office. That same year, the actress would also go on to appear in the film Captain America: The Winter Soldier, which also boasted huge box office numbers. Despite all of her success in the film industry, Johansson's modeling work during that year may be even more impressive.

In May of that year, Johansson would appear in what is assuredly one of her best shoots to date. The photos in this wonderful session were taken at the New York Palace Hotel. Adorned in a beautiful black dress and dazzling earrings, Scarlett's beauty is truly on display in each photo. She is able to consistently deliver a beautiful gaze that lures in viewers, leaving us all wanting more.

3 Captain America: The Winter Soldier Premiere (March 2013)

Prior to the release of this film, I wasn't really into superhero films. Sure, they could be entertaining, but I couldn't have cared less for them. In 2014, I reluctantly went to a movie theater with some friends to see Captain America: The Winter Soldier, and my opinion and outlook completely changed. Seeing a superhero movie done like a spy thriller changed the game for me, and I've been a Marvel Cinematic Universe fan ever since.

For Johansson, appearing as Black Widow in the film notched the performer another hit movie, as the film would make 714 million dollars at the box office. It helped install a new element into the superhero film genre, and may in fact be the best movie to date in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Thankfully, the directors of the film have signed on to direct Avengers: Infinity War, which is set to hit theaters in 2018.

2 Esquire Magazine (November 2013)

As I mentioned earlier in the article, 2013 was an interesting year for Scarlett Johansson. It was a year that was filled with critical acclaim, and modest financial success for her films. Leading up to that year, the actress had been riding a tidal wave of successful films that would help make her one of the biggest names in Hollywood. While she was already quite successful, those few years leading up to 2013 helped solidify the actress as a bona fide star.

Since 2013, Scarlett Johansson has continued to impress audiences with her versatile performances, as well as star in films that have generated unfathomable amounts of money. Naturally, her work in the Marvel Cinematic Universe has been the most fruitful of her films, but a good amount of her other movies have made incredible amounts of money as well. Very few people in the world are able to boast a resume as impressive as Johansson's, and seeing her perform shows exactly why that's the case.

1 Captain America: Civil War (2016)

For all intents and purposes, I decided to conclude this article with a film that was both incredibly successful, and that did a fantastic job in peaking viewer's interests in further installments. When it was released in 2016, Captain America: Civil War took the world by storm. Critics and audiences alike fell in love with the film, and the movie made huge sums of money. Despite having a plethora of characters and stories, Captain America: Civil War was able to find balance for most of the film.

Johansson's reprisal of Black Widow in the film was excellent, and her character continues to be a mainstay in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Black Widow's dynamic with Black Panther was noteworthy, and I'm curious to see what comes of their professional relationship in the future. The movie ended with our heroes fractured, and comic book lovers like me cannot wait to see them band together again to help take down Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War.
