15 Times Celebs Looked Terrified Posing With Fans

Most people you'll meet throughout your life are at least somewhat normal. By normal, we mean that they have at least some degree of social skills, have been taught at least some rudimentary manners, and comport themselves as functional members of our glorious species. Of course, there are plenty of people out there who, for whatever reason, seem to lack these very simple characteristics.

One of the greatest things about being a celebrity is the adoration. With fame generally comes a significant fan following. Like the general population, most of any celebrity's fans are normal people with social skills and at least marginally know how to behave around others. Sure, some people get starstruck and babble with a dazed look on their faces, but that's somewhat normal.

In all honesty, it isn't really that difficult to meet a celebrity, whether they be a musician, an actor, an athlete, an adult star, or some other form of entertainer. The proper way, generally speaking, is to greet them, quickly tell them why you're a fan ("hey, I really enjoyed you in that movie," or "hey, that song you wrote helped me through a tough time"), thank them, and then move on with your day. An autograph or picture is not necessary, but it's a nice touch.

In terms of those fans who are not within the realm of "normal," the celebrities they meet must be terrified of them. And every now and again, we are blessed to have hilarious photographic evidence of these creatures meeting their favorite famous people. Here are fifteen shots of celebrities who look terrified of the fan with whom they are posing.

15 Britney Spears

As you can probably tell, this is somewhat late in Britney's career. The shot was taken during the lead up to her 2011 album Femme Fatale. This release is still considered to be some of her best work, but that isn't saying much. If we were to give this awkward fan picture a title, it may have to be "Femme Frightened." Maybe it would be more accurate to call it "Two people who don't want to be in a picture together" because even the guy looks like he's nervous and on edge. Maybe he just heard one of the songs on Femme Fatale and regrets coming to the party? More than likely, though, it seems that Britney was willing to do just about anything to make her comeback work, and posing at events with fans that terrify her was just one necessity during that time in her career. In terms of smiles, they don't get much faker than this.

14 Luke Perry

There will likely be some people reading this who have no idea who Luke Perry is. He played one of the main characters on Beverly Hills, 90210 back in the 1990's and has managed to do almost nothing particularly notable since. Okay, fine! He was in the third Sandlot movie. We don't want to be too mean about this shot because it looks like it may have been the highlight of this person's month (year?). We imagine that if you're a fan of his show, meeting the guy would have been huge. But, needless to say, Luke is not having nearly as much fun as his new friend.

The look on his face looks like some fear, some nervousness, and more than a little regret. In his head, he may be saying something to the effect of "accountants probably don't have to deal with this kind of stuff, I should have just gone into accounting."

13 Peter Facinelli

This was a hug that actor Peter Facinelli looks like he wishes never had to happen. Our question would be whether or not the sign that this young lady is holding up is accurate. If it is accurate, that means one of two things—either that cat was sick and this person should have been there to care for her cat, or that she was in line for so long that the poor thing starved to death. If the sign is not accurate, then this lady is using psychological warfare to guilt-trip a man into giving her attention. Most women save this for when they are actually in relationships, rather than when just meeting someone for the first time. Either way, the look on his face looks like that of genuine concern, possibly thinking "that poor cat, did my appearance in those Twilight films cause this woman to become so obsessed with me that she let her beloved pet die for a chance to meet me?"

Then again, speaking of those awful movies, this picture is still a better romance story than Twilight.

12  Khloe Kardashian

What we're looking at in this picture probably borders on assault (it might absolutely be assault, but we aren't lawyers), but the fan doesn't look like he cares at all. Back in 2014, Khloe, Kourtney, and Kendall Jenner were enjoying a night out at a Miley Cyrus concert, but morons with unhealthy obsessions with reality TV seem to follow these three and their other sisters wherever they go. To this dude, all we can say is that yes, we know they're hot, but in what way will mauling a Kardashian make your life better? The look in her eyes is that of extreme discomfort and we imagine that in this moment, she genuinely feared for her safety. Obviously, the person with the camera, at whom she was looking, did nothing. After this shot was taken, Khloe managed to wrestle herself free from this fan, but he still followed her, trying to get a picture with his phone.

11 Avril Lavigne

Many celebrities have absolutely no problem taking pictures with their fans. Some don't mind a handshake and even a hug. And others, if they are as animated in their personal lives as they are while performing, will strike a pose with an eager fan. It can make people's day and most of those who get into show business are there to put smiles on faces. "Musician" and "singer" Avril Lavigne looks like she may have a touch phobia or just a fear of people. When asked about her awkward meet-and-greets a few years ago, she basically said that she has been inappropriately touched by fans before at photo events and was just choosing, as a security measure, to keep her distance from fans. Fairly reasonable if it is true. Then again, who has heard her music and wants to be within a square mile away from her?

10 Charisma Carpenter

Don't let that very slight smile fool you. That is the face of someone whose personal space has been invaded. While she's been acting since the mid-1990's and continues to work to this day, Charisma Carpenter is most known for playing Cordelia on Buffy the Vampire Slayer and then Angel. In the early 2000's, she was one of the hottest women on television, and she posed for Playboy back in 2004. In short, there's a reason why the lad in this picture looks like he's having the time of his life. That is an unmistakable look of self-satisfaction on his face.

She, on the other hand, looks like she regrets every choice that led to this point in her life and kind of resembles a cat who has been picked up by a stranger and wants to get away. Make no mistake, there is nothing but misery and terror behind that very forced smile.

9 Rihanna

There is plenty of reason for Rihanna to have this look on her face in this picture. We've heard from a few sources that she is not the kindest and most wonderful person in the music business. Some employees have spoken up about her treatment of assistants, while she has also had some interesting run-ins with fans. Whether she would be willing to take a picture with this dude if he had simply turned to his left and said "excuse me, big fan, could I get a photo with you?" is up to her. But the "gent" in this picture is clearly snapping a shot of her when she wasn't expecting it. It is hard to say whether her arm is about to give a sarcastic thumbs up or if she's about to wind up and take a swing at the guy. Really, though, it isn't hard to just ask for a picture. There is no need to try and be stealthy and come off as a creeper.

8 Mark Hamill

Mark Hamill looks like he wishes he could actually use the force in real life to get this guy away from himself. Actually, he looks just plain tired and fed up as he tries to get a smile going but can barely manage to. The other dude, however, looks like he may be experiencing any one of a series of complex emotions. It may be excitement that makes a person's eyes open like that, but we can't tell for sure. That honestly looks like the kind of face someone makes when he/she thought he/she was only going to fart. Then again, the guy is meeting Luke Skywalker, and chances are, he's just excited to take a picture with the Jedi himself; and this picture was taken at an inopportune time. No matter what was going on, though, Hamill looks like he is a bit uneasy here.

7 Megan Fox

The picture we see here was snapped back in 2009. At first sight, this looks like a young kid trying to hand a rose to Megan Fox, while she, looking annoyed, angered, and hurried, quickly follows her security team away from him. Later on, after this shot made it's way around the internet, she reached out to the lad and they actually met. She defended her actions, saying she didn't mean to rush by him like that, but she was swamped by paparazzi at the time and didn't even see him. So, while most of these pictures feature celebs who are likely terrified of their fans, this actually has a nice story.

Hopefully, now that it's eight years out from this incident, that kid has learned some better moves than showing up at an airport with a rose. Then again, good for him for shooting that high as most guys settle, but not this young man.

6 Jessica Nigri

As one of the undisputed goddesses of cosplay, Jessica Nigri's talent for costume creation and makeup are both a blessing and a curse. From Pikachu to an old Nintendo controller, this gorgeous woman has dressed up like many video game and science fiction icons and is the fantasy of plenty of nerds and casual sci-fi fans alike. We imagine that for every few normal guys she meets at conventions, there has to be the odd terrifying creep who invades her space and ruins her day. A couple of years ago, there was some controversy about convention-goers groping and harassing the cosplayers (while security did nothing). Obviously, cosplay models are not there for touching, and there is no excuse for that kind of behavior. She looks like she's trying to force a smile to just get the picture over with, but it isn't working. Once again, however, notice the hover hand.

5 Justin Bieber

This is a slightly confusing shot for a couple of reasons. First of all, the girl who is kissing Bieber's face looks like she might be pretty cute (maybe a little young, but we can't tell from this angle), and we aren't sure why he's so worked up about a peck on the cheek. We can only imagine that it happens almost constantly. But the real reason why his scared/panicked look makes us chuckle is the fact that there are tons of pictures out there of Justin groping his female fans while posing with them. Then again, maybe they were okay with such a photo, and maybe he just wasn't a fan of the idea of a stranger putting her lips on his face that day. Either way, this should have a speech bubble next to the singer's face with the words "ew, girls are icky."

4 Nicki Minaj

There are two genuine smiles on this photo and one person forcing a smile while secretly wishing she was drinking a gallon of bleach. Actually, even with her hair and possible (probable) plastic surgery, that smile is still the fakest thing in this picture. The snap was taken when she was on the Elvis Duran radio show, and while the gentleman in the suit is Mr. Duran, we have no idea what is going on in the other half of the picture. Yes, we get it. It's a man in a bikini along with the oversize sunglasses and that's funny.

We have to admit something here, though. Given the amount of makeup this woman wears, along with her downright weird public persona, it is hard to read her face. While we think she looks like she's forcing a smile while terrified, she may well be having the time of her life. With this one, you never can tell.

3 Britney Again

Britney Spears evidently had such a bad day taking photos with fans back in 2011 that we decided to feature another from that awful day promoting her Femme Fatale album. The first of our pictures from this doomed event was just her standing awkwardly far away from the fan with whom she was being photographed. Here, we see her with a fan who has managed to get very close to her and is clearly inside her personal "bubble." She's forcing the smile but clearly wants nothing more than to be far away from this creepy dude. That look on her face? If you have pets, you may have seen this face before. This (much like our earlier entry about Charisma Carpenter's awkward fan pic) looks like the face that any cat makes when they are trying to get away from an unfamiliar person who has picked them up. Poor Britney. All she wanted was fame and fortune.

2 Summer Glau

She may not be quite as well-known as some of the others on our list, so we'll save you a trip to Wikipedia if you're unfamiliar. Summer Glau is an American actress who has been featured in a few science fiction roles including Firefly, Serenity, Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, and more recently, Arrow.

As a primarily sci-fi actress, one would think she'd be highly skilled at interacting with awkward, nerdy dudes from time to time. What can we say? Maybe this was taken around the end of the day, and she was tired of being awkwardly hit on all day. The faces that they're making are hilarious and the "hover hand" is strong in this shot as well. This almost looks like the real-life equivalent of her cameo on The Big Bang Theory when she got hit on by Raj and Howard; both of whom did a terrible job and thoroughly terrified her.

1 Katy Perry

That look on Katy Perry's face, dear friends, is a deer in headlights that is not only stunned but also very concerned for her safety. Based on her public persona, Katy seems like she'd be a nice person to meet and generally seems to treat her fans well as far as we can tell. In this case, though, she's agreed to pose for a picture with this dude who looks like he is having the time of his life. But, she looks like she'd be more comfortable holding on to a crocodile. If she were to write a song about this incident (which may be necessary to get over the memories of it), perhaps it could be called "I Posed Awkwardly with a Boy and I didn't Like it." The context of this picture would be nice. I'd really like to know if this guy said something creepy or stupid before posing for the shot or if Katy was just having a bad day. No matter what the circumstances, the look of terror and concern is priceless.
