16 Things Celebs Had To Say About Filming Those “Steamy” Scenes

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to film one of those "steamy" scenes? You probably assume that they're hot-n-heavy, sensual, and romantic. Movies and shows provide just the right moments for those "steamy" scenes. However, it's hard to come by the perfect setting and mood that a film budget and actors can put into place. In today's age of apps such as Tinder, it's hard to imagine that the idea of hooking up and making out with random actors and actresses would be too daunting for the celebrities involved. Yet, some of these actors and actresses are married. Just imagine how awkward that must be. Besides, sites like Tinder aren't for everyone.

This obviously makes those steamy scenes far more awkward offscreen than they appear to be onscreen, especially if you were to stop and think what it must be like if the celebrity and co-star weren't able to connect. Aside from that, there are other factors to consider—set, cameras, directors, and producers. That's a lot of eyes on you. It's not just you and that person in the safe privacy of a hotel, home, or even the less modest space of a car. I realize that I'm probably bursting your bubble. The one with the happy thoughts of mind-blowing "steamy" scenes and on-set romances. You might get a few of those here. Although, you're also about to hear the shocking details of cleaning up sets mid-shoot because a starstruck new actor couldn't hold back, or how brutal and violent some less steamy, yet more brutal scenes can get. However, there have been a few celebs who have felt freed, empowered, and, dare I say, aroused. Do you want to know which ones?

You'll just have to see for yourself! Here are 15 Shocking Things Celebs Had To Say About Filming Those Steamy Scenes…

16 Dakota Johnson - Her Warm-Up Is A Shot Of Liquid Courage

Via: Pinterest

Fifty Shades has been one of the hottest film series to come out in recent years. How could it not be, with a story focused BDSM, right? However, there's more to it than just the steam. In fact, there's a great romance brewing in there. A lot of people forget that. At one point, Universal Studios stepped in and put a gag on the cast's talk about the kinkiness in the movies. They wanted interviews and discussions revolving around the movies Fifty Shades of Grey, Fifty Shades Darker, and Fifty Shades Freed to remain about the romance.

Although, the movies are full of steamy scenes. So, what's wrong with discussing them? Dakota Johnson, who plays Anastasia Steele, has long ago gotten over the awkwardness of those "steamy" scenes. Dakota has admitted that her warm-up is a shot of liquid courage. Meanwhile, her co-star does push-ups. That's all her that you see in the Fifty Shades films. Earlier this year, she told Vogue, "I don't want to see someone wearing a bra and underwear in a s*x scene. Let's be honest about it. People are naked when they f*ck." Dakota Johnson sounds a little naughty in real life, doesn't she?

15 Jamie Dornan - Weird Sounds

Via: GQ Magazine

Jamie Dornan, who has played the role as Christian Grey in the Fifty Shades films, had some interesting things to say about his experiences with Dakota Johnson as well. Apparently, he likes to break the ice with funny sounds instead of sensual moans. Entertainment Weekly covered Jamie's interview on The Graham Norton Show where he said that "when there's a moment where I'm meant to org*sm, I'll be like, 'do-do-do do do-do.'" Charming, huh?

While Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson both seem quite comfortable filming in the buff together these days, this wasn't always the case. Dakota had her whiskey and Jamie had an apology for her prior to those especially kinky love scenes. Back in 2015, he told Britain's Notebook Magazine, "I'm probably not going to derive a huge amount of pleasure out of this. I want you to know that." So very gentlemanly of him. If any of us were in that position with Dakota Johnson, this definitely wouldn't have been the case.

14 Selena Gomez - Boundary She Was Ready To Cross

via YouTube

Many of us are still getting over thinking of Selena Gomez as one of Disney's poster children. (Her biggest recurring role was as Alex Russo from Wizards of Waverly Place.) Or, as a little girl singing and dancing on Barney & Friends. However, Selena has grown up and she now has movies with "steamy" scenes under her belt. Not to mention that she's at the helm of an emotionally-driven dark series, 13 Reasons Why, which has some very graphic scenes itself. Spring Breakers was the first movie that she stripped down for, and her main fear was how her fans would react.

As you can imagine, the scenes proved pretty awkward for the former Disney celebrities involved, especially Selena Gomez. There were rumors circulating that she had a breakdown over the racy content. However, Selena's take on things was that it was awkward filming those scenes, yet it was a boundary that she was ready to cross. In one interview, Selena spoke about a particularly awkward scene with James Franco that she knew nothing about until a couple minutes before the scene. "It was too intense," she said.

13 Morena Baccarin - Favorite Thing To Shoot

Via: Esquire Magazine

Speaking of intense situations, could you imagine shooting 8 years of "steamy" scenes in just one day? This is exactly what Morena Baccarin had to do for her role as Vanessa Carlisle in Deadpool alongside Ryan Reynolds. She specifically spoke about what she called "this really funny s*x montage where you see us, like, having s*x throughout the holidays (laughs)." Morena Baccarin in the holiday s*x montage from Deadpool? Now that was hot! Wasn't it? I bet you're thinking that she thought it was awkward, awful, or tiring, but we're glad to disappoint you with this one.

Morena said it was one of her favorite things to shoot. In fact, her only complaint was that it sucked being naked the entire time. When she was asked about her character having superpowers, she said, "just s*x." Seriously? We're talking about Morena Baccarin here! Would she need anything more?

12 Ryan  Reynolds - Horrifying

Via: GQ Magazine

Any guy would've loved to be in Ryan Reynolds' shoes on the set of Deadpool, especially on the day that the "steamy" montage was created. The way that Morena Baccarin described it was so hot. Eight years of s*x filmed in one day? Come on! You'd have to be nuts to say it wasn't at least a little fun. Possibly tiring, yet still a highlight of his day. Morena seemed to enjoy herself. You'd think that Ryan Reynolds really scored big when Morena Baccarin was cast to star as his love interest in Deadpool, too.

However, if you thought that this was how he felt about the "steamy" scenes, you'd be very wrong. Ryan said that filming the epic montage was "horrifying." That the whole thing "sounds more romantic than it actually is." Is it just me, or does it sound like maybe he's downplaying the steamy marathon of events for his wife, Blake Lively, who has said that watching those scenes is "a cruel and unusual form of torture?" It's okay, Ryan. With a wife like her, we totally get it.

11 Emilia Clarke - Empowered

Via: Entertainment Tonight

Emilia Clarke, who's best recognized as Daenerys Targaryen on Game of Thrones, hasn't been one to hold back her distaste for intimate scenes. Of course, that's kind of odd when you consider that she's a key player on GoT, which has loads of those scenes. Back in 2015, she mentioned that she isn't a fan of those "steamy" scenes. She said, "I'm British, so I cringe at that sort of thing anyway. I can't stand it." Plus, she feels that those "scenes should be more subtle." This makes sense as to why we don't get to see her in those scenes very often.

On the other hand, Emilia felt happy and "empowered" by the scene with Daario in season four. That would be the one where she took control. She said, "That's a scene I've been waiting for!" She said that she loved it so much that she thanked the co-creators for the scene. As for sticking with mostly nudes, Daenerys walking out of the fire flames in the buff has given us more than we could hope for...or forget.

10 Nicole Kidman - She Did What She Had To Do

Via: Actress Hollywood

Seeing Nicole Kidman in the buff or in "steamy" scenes isn't exactly anything new. In fact, Nicole let us see that side of her years ago in Eyes Wide Shut (1999)In more recent years, however, we've seen her in slightly more graphic content. Two of her latest projects have included The Paperboy (2012) and her role as the abused housewife, Celeste Wright, in the new hit series Big Little Lies. There are "steamy" scenes in both, yet they are more physical and abusive.

Back in 2015, Nicole spoke about how filming the scenes for The Paperboy were especially physical. She was asked about how John Cusack was "throwing (her) around the f*cking room like a mop," but her response was that she felt protective to his needs as an actor to feel the role, "I want him to feel free. Actors have to protect each other in a way." As for her role in Big Little Lies, she has explained how the scenes "left me (her) feeling exposed." Well that's deep.

9 Lucy Hale - Flossed (A LOT)

via Just Jared

Pretty Little Liars might be off the air now, but those "steamy" scenes haven't been forgotten. For a cast of ladies who grew up and even skipped over a five-year gap, those "steamy" scenes had a lot of rules to master. The cast sat down before season six to fill fans in about the dos and don'ts of steamy scenes. Apparently, there was a "no thrusting rule" involved. Who knows how they got around that one.

Aside from that, Lucy Hale also gave up some interesting information on how both she and her co-star, Ian Harding, got over the flossing stage. That comment goes back to Ian's interview where he said that he was so nervous that he "flossed at least three times and gargled between every take" before their kiss in the pilot. Lucy also admitted that she was a bit timid, but that "towards the end, we (they) didn't care." Ewww! Let's just hope nobody brought seafood or anything involving garlic to that set for lunch!

8 Jesse Metcalfe - Practice Makes Perfect

Via: Fanshare

Jesse was once asked if he'd had any trouble restraining himself during those hot-n-heavy scenes with Gabrielle Solis. His answer was, "Yeah! As a matter of fact, in the first scene we ever had, where Gabrielle and John first had s*x, we were rehearsing and then the director was like, 'OK, get out of bed, we have to reset the set.'" As for Dallas, Jesse didn't seem near as fazed by the romance. Luckily, he got all that out of the way with Eva.

7 Allison Williams - Flattering Response

via Celebuzz

Before we get started on Allison Williams' nudity and those "steamy" scenes from Girls, did you know that she was the girlfriend with a creepy family from Get Out? That movie was chilling AF! Anyways, let's get to the good part. Allison Williams recently did a joint appearance on Watch What Happens Live! with Samuel L. Jackson. Talk about a fun combo! On the show, Allison was asked if "it was flattering for an actress, if an actor became aroused during a s*x scene." This led them to get themselves into a seriously funny debate about "steamy" scene erections.

Allison's response was that it is flattering either way, but "the best case scenario is kind of like a suggestion of excitement without the actual physical manifestation of it." However, Samuel called "Bullsh*t" on her answer. As the pair dived deeper (so to speak) into the conversation, they realized that Allison had more experience as Marnie on Girls than he had in his entire career. (Fun fact: Samuel L. Jackson made his film debut 45 years ago and has only had about three "steamy" scenes. That's according to him.)

6 Kirsten Dunst - "Let's Get This Over With As Soon As Possible."

via sharenator.com

It took so many years for us to see the complete "mature" edition of Kirsten Dunst. She jumped right into the realm of hit films with hits like Interview with a Vampire as a child and Bring It On as a teen. Then something happened. We saw a wee part of her potential when she gave us a scene worthy of an MTV Movie Award for Best Kiss in Spider-Man (2002). What followed next was her nude backside in Marie Antoinette and, of course, the shower scene in All Good Things, which went farther than what appeared on the big screen, according to Kirsten.

In fact, Kirsten has gone into detail about it by saying, "What happened in the shower scene, she comes in and we start making out, and I gesture that I'm going to go down on him. And then I do." However, she wasn't near as comfortable with the scene in The Beguiled where Colin Farrell rips her shirt off. She said that she was like, "Let's get this over with as soon as possible." For the record, Colin has said that he was as sensitive as possible with Kirsten.

5 Natalie Portman - Super Awkward

Via: Reddit

Talk about a double-header! Natalie Portman got down and dirty in "steamy" scenes with Mila Kunis in Black Swan (2010) and Ashton Kutcher in No Strings Attached (2011). Fortunately, the happy couple didn't officially get together until 2012. That would've made things super awkward. Probably, more awkward than Natalie Portman claimed the scenes already were. Natalie admitted that she and Mila were already friends before Black Swan. She confided, "It was pretty awkward. I almost feel like it would be easier to do it with someone you didn't know."

Natalie wasn't too thrilled with filming either performance. She also mentioned that it was awkward in No Strings Attached with Ashton Kutcher. Natalie expressed that she was "pretty immature, so I (she) get pretty embarrassed still." Either way, things turned out well. Plus, Natalie Portman can say that she did it with both Ashton Kutcher and his wife, Mila Kunis. That's something that nobody else can say.

4 Ashton Kutcher - Too Slow...

via PC Wall Art

Looking at Ashton Kutcher, it'd be easy to expect the ultimate playboy. Plus, you'd also expect it to be totally easy for him to film "steamy" scenes. Yet, Ashton is actually one of the male celebrities that don't see things that way. Maybe it's because his ego was bruised in No Strings Attached. No, he didn't pull a Jesse Metcalfe. Instead, Ashton was told by the director to speed things up a bit.

Of course, Ashton's response said it all. "Your male machismo is like, 'no, no, it would take me much longer than this!'" Aside from that, Ashton just related that "it's always sort of awkward and giggly, right? Because you're there and you're with someone you sort of know, and there's a lot of people watching." Hey! Since Ashton, Natalie, and Mila are all real-life friends...nah! Only in your dreams.

3 Lena Dunham - No Emotion, No Problem

via feelgrafix.com

Lena Dunham has obviously done tons of "steamy" scenes on Girls. In fact, she's probably done it all. She also isn't shy about discussing her feelings during filming those scenes. There was no way she could have been, right? She had to defend those scenes throughout the entire course of the show, not only as an actress but as a writer. Lena has a unique way of thinking when it comes to filming those scenes. She's done this by saying, "People shouldn't say s*x scenes are so mechanical, it doesn't feel like anything. It feels like someone f*cking you! It's confusing."

However, she's also said that it's more difficult for her to do those scenes when they depict actual emotion. "I remember when I was doing the s*x scene with Patrick Wilson, and Hannah was for once meant to be enjoying s*x and that was very hard to depict. Being bored or dissatisfied is one face, but showing pleasure and love, that, to me, is the most scary stuff."

2 Hugh Grant - Too Honest?

via yesofcorsa.com

There was a time when Hugh Grant was one of the biggest heartthrobs in some women's romantic movies universe. Well, maybe not that big, but close. Then came the hooker days. And now, leave it to Hugh Grant to be upfront and honest about his thoughts. Or, dare I say, "reactions down under" to filming those "steamy" scenes? Last year, he said, "I've always found filming s*x scenes to be quite a turn-on. I like the experience of being in a s*xual position when you're not supposed to be in one."

Okay, Hugh! Now, you're either the skeeviest celebrity to do a love scene or the perfect match for doing a film or show with Lena Dunham. To most, he appears to be the biggest perv now. Not only because he said that he gets aroused, but also because he confessed that romance and love are harder for him to act out. Imagine being the unlucky or possibly lucky (depending how you see it) actress stuck with him as a co-star. As for his fans, never again will those films be quite the same.

1 Mila Kunis - Not All Things Are As They Appear In The World Of Film

via HD Wallpaper 2013

Mila Kunis doesn't really need to hop in a "steamy" scene. Just taking off her clothes is enough to set someone's DVR on pause. Although, her love scenes are unforgettable, especially in Friends with Benefits. Yet, are you sure that it was really Mila that you saw? If nothing on here has burst your happy "steam" bubble yet, then this bit about Mila Kunis is bound to do it. Not all things are as they appear in the world of film.

For one, she did fall asleep in a scene with Justin Timberlake. Only it wasn't quite the way it sounds. Long day, requested snooze sums it up nicely. Two, it wasn't always her in the s*x scenes. Yep, Mila used a body double. How sucky is that? You might want to keep that copy of Black Swan safe because at least we know that awkward, yet "steamy," scene with Natalie Portman was the real thing. Unless, Natalie's keeping her lips sealed, by making up awkward hot scenes between friends. Still, Mila's so hot that you totally forgive her, don't you?
