15 Stupid Celebs Who Lost Millions Within Minutes

There is an expression that a fool and his money are soon parted. It refers to people who may be able to amass incredible wealth, but before you can blink an eye, the money is a distant memory. And others may still have millions in the bank, but they have such reckless spending habits that you're going to be amazed they can even keep a roof over their head.

Sometimes for celebrities, it takes under 140 characters to cause them some serious financial hardship. As was the case for Sharon Stone and Gilbert Gottfried, both who lost out on lucrative contracts when they forgot to think before tweeting.

You may also have some moments from your past that you'd rather not become public knowledge. Paula Deen didn't have that luxury and her past mistakes ended up costing her over $10 million. Though if you think that's costly, just think how much "per minute" Alec Wildenstein cost himself when he was caught having an affair which led to a multi-billion dollar divorce.

Paula Deen is still active in the food industry, but there is no denying that her racial controversy back in 2013 cost her upwards of $13 million. Deen admitted in a deposition that she had used the "N" word when describing black individuals:

"I'm sure I have, but it's been a very long time [...] maybe in repeating something that was said to me ... probably a conversation between blacks. I don't – I don't know. But that's just not a word that we use as time has gone on. Things have changed since the '60s in the south."

While she apologized profusely for her past actions, among the names that stepped away from Deen was The Food Network - who Paula was featured on Paula's Best Dishes and Paula's Home Cooking -, Walmart and Caesars Entertainment who had 4 Paula Deen-themed restaurants.

13 Gilbert Gottfried Lost His Aflac Job Over Tweet

There aren't many roles in the world of acting that seemingly would be more coveted than getting to be the voice-over talent for a major company. The ads run all the time, meaning a pretty consistent source of income, and how much work really goes into stepping into the booth and delivering a quick soundbite in your iconic voice.

But Gottfried cost himself years of future potential employment as the Aflac Duck. How, you ask? Following a horrific tsunami in Japan, he decided to tweet out "Japan is really advanced. They don't go to the beach. The beach comes to them."

The company fired him shortly after.

Christina Applegate has been tremendous in a variety of roles throughout her career, including on television such as Married With Children or in movies like the Anchorman franchise. But she turned down the starring role in another franchise when Legally Blonde came across her desk and she turned it down.

"€œThe script came my way, and it was after I had just finished Married. I got scared of kind of repeating myself. What a stupid move," said Applegate when discussing the decision.

We're sure the millions that Witherspoon made off the huge franchise didn't make Applegate kick herself any less hard!

Kevin Spacey has arguably been the biggest name implicated in the recent scandals that seem to have plagued 2017. Claims started in October from fellow actor Anthony Rapp but quickly grew to include several other individuals who said that Spacey acted inappropriately around them.

As it stands there have been several financial ramifications for Spacey. This includes the cancellation of two of his Netflix properties, a film Gore and his series House of Cards. Spacey was also replaced by Christopher Plummer in the upcoming film All The Money In The World. Good luck going back and enjoying some of his classic roles now!

10 Brendan Fraser Turned Down Journey To The Center Of The Earth 2

It may have been a hard decision, but Brendan Fraser's decision to step away from Journey to the Center of the Earth is one of the most baffling in Hollywood history. Fraser's career had been stagnant for a while and the first one, while panned by critics, earned over $200 million.

He was seemingly asked to return for the sequel, but reports started to surface that he turned down the role which later when to Dwayne Johnson and made even more money. Fraser's career has struggled to have a movie that even touched the level of success since Journey, and at this point, it may be all but too late for the former George of the Jungle star.

9 Sharon Stone Said An Earthquake In China Was Karma, Loses Dior Contract

Sharon Stone had several roles in her career, such as Basic Instinct, where she was considered one of the biggest bombshells in the industry. Which made her a natural for companies like Christian Dior; who employed the actress in 2008.

At least until Stone spoke out about an earthquake that had occurred in China, "I'm not happy about the way the Chinese are treating the Tibetans because I don't think anyone should be unkind to anyone else. And then this earthquake and all this stuff happened, and then I thought, is that karma? When you're not nice that the bad things happen to you?"

Her talking about how they're handling the Tibetan crisis was significant enough for one of the News Agencies in China to describe Stone as the "Public enemy of all mankind."

8 Luke Grimes Left A Lucrative Acting Role Because Of A Gay Plot

It's possible you may not think this is a stupid reason, but we sure as heck do. Luke Grimes had the chance to continue developing his resume on the television show True Blood where he played the character James. But after it started becoming evident that Grimes' character was going to get intimate with another male on the show played by Nelsan Ellis, Grimes allegedly asked to be written out.

While Grimes didn't speak out about the matter, Ellis did voice his displeasure in an interview with Vulture: "I mean, I can say I'm not going to make a comment, but I just think that, you're an actor, you're an actor on a show that's True Blood. We're all sitting there going, 'You quit your job because ... really?' I'm just... I'm over him. You quit your job because you don't want to play a gay part? As if it's ... You know what? I'm going to stop talking."

It's hard to imagine Grimes' immaturity in this situation hasn't hurt him significantly as an actor going forward.

7 Megan Fox Compared Michael Bay To Hitler And Was Fired

Megan Fox is an undeniably beautiful woman. But in terms of her acting ability, she has definitely had several roles where she leaves plenty to be desired. Which means perhaps the perfect role for her was in the Transformers franchise. But after making remarks in an interview that Michael Bay's behavior on the set was similar to that of Hitler, she found herself removed from future instalments after earning millions off the first two.

The series continued to roll in the cash flow regardless of Fox's departure, making her incredibly poor choice of words used during that interview all the more costly.

6 Ted Griffin Got Fired From His Own Movie After Firing His Cinematographer

Ted Griffin had high aspirations for the movie Rumor Has It... He had written the script and was even scheduled to direct it. But perhaps that inflated his ego because he quickly found himself getting into conflict with Ed Lachman, who had been hired as a cinematographer.

Seemingly feeling powerful and perhaps untouchable, Griffin allegedly fired Lachman, but the subsequent delay in production also led to the departure of Griffin who was later replaced by Rob Reiner.

The movie wasn't a tremendous success, but it did make close to $100 million. The fallout from the situation also proved to be a significant blow to the career of Griffin who has yet to direct anything notable.

5 Mike Tyson Literally Lost A Suitcase With $1 Million In It

Now we suppose with this next entry, we need to preface that Mike Tyson, or more accurately one of his assistants' did eventually find the money. But during the height of Tyson's boxing career, he literally had more money coming in then he knew how to keep track of.

When talking about his life in an autobiography, Tyson admitted there was one particular incident where he literally lost a suitcase with $1 million in it after a night of partying. We're sure with the number of substances he was on that night that he probably didn't notice until the next morning! The height of Tyson's expenses also included one year where he spent $62 million, with over $20 million of that going towards cars.

4 Kevin Bacon (And Wife Kyra Sendrick) Agreed To A Ponzi Scheme

Kevin Bacon has several movies where he plays an incredibly intelligent character. But he, alongside his wife Kyra Sedgwick, was duped out of millions by Bernard Madoff in the infamous Madoff Ponzi Scheme.

When talking about the situation in 2009, Bacon did not reveal how much he lost but did say, "I need to work, for obvious reasons." At least both Bacon and his wife have had considerable success in the industry since then! We just have to hope the two of them are smarter with their money going forward.

3 The Extreme Financial Fallout Of Louis C.K.

Louis C.K. had several great jokes centering around ... let's call it "personal time". They became a lot less funny when he admitted to committing the act in front of several women throughout his career. While C.K. apologized, there were significant financial ramifications for his actions that came almost instantly after the story broke.

This included the cancellation of his recent film, I Love You Daddy, and his upcoming standup with Netflix which definitely would have paid him handsomely.

C.K. was also set to work on an animated series titled The Cops which was canceled, as was his scheduled re-appearance in one of the lead roles to the sequel of the Life of Pets franchise.

2 Rick Ross Spent $1 Million Celebrating His 35th Birthday

There is nothing wrong with getting together with some of your buddies and going out for a night on the town. And it's perhaps understandable that when celebrities do it, that they happen to have a higher bankroll for their activities than say your buddy Mike who works as a mover.

But regardless of Rick Ross' net worth, you may still be astonished at reports that he allegedly spent upwards of $1 million for one night out at a "gentleman's" club. The acclaimed rapper was out celebrating his 35th birthday. Which means at least there was a reasonable reason to go out, but depleting your net worth by that much in one evening might not be the smartest decision. Especially if he (or his future loved ones) one day find themselves hurting for cash.

1 Lil' Wayne Lost His Mountain Dew Deal Over Offensive Rap Lyrics

There are some things that you probably shouldn't talk about, even if you're a famed rapper and you're trying to do it to a catchy beat. Lil' Wayne thought he was super clever when on the song "Karate Chop" by Odd Future, he featured with the line: "Pop a lot of pain pills/'bout to put rims on my skateboard wheels/beat that p***y up like Emmett Till."

Emmett Till, for those who may not remember, was a black 14-year-old American who in 1955 was murdered in a racially-charged attack for flirting with a white woman.

Lil' Wayne's offensive comments caused a backlash from fans and one of his primary sponsors, Mountain Dew, also gave him the boot.
