Elizabeth Jane Hurley - better known as Liz to you and I - is undoubtedly one of the most gorgeous women on the planet. The fact that she turned 52 earlier this year is seriously impressive; she's still rocking a bikini better than most women half her age. The actress, model, and businesswoman is pretty much the dream for most guys; she's sophisticated, intelligent and funny, but with a bit of a devilish side to her. Given her stunning looks and incredible figure, it's definitely no surprise that she continues to feature heavily in polls of the most beautiful women in showbiz - someone even coughed up $81,000 for the chance to kiss her at a charity auction a few years ago !
It may come as a shock to learn that Ms. Hurley wasn't always the confident and glamorous beauty she is today; she's said that she wasn't into hair and makeup as a teenager, and was very self-conscious about her appearance during her twenties and thirties. Nowadays, the single mom has grown into her status as an international s*x symbol with much more ease, and is all too happy to share shots of her amazing physique with the world, and why not? As the saying goes, 'if you've got it, flaunt it', and thankfully for us, the actress clearly believes it!
Though some might say that women in their 50s just aren't sexy, these photos are proof that some women age like a fine wine - take a look below and see if you agree...
15 A Model Physique
With her long lean limbs and naturally pretty looks, it's hard to believe that Hurley was a late bloomer; she didn't get her first modelling job until she was 29. However, this wasn't any old job - in 1995 she landed the role of spokesmodel for none other than Estée Lauder. Despite having no previous modelling experience, she clearly excelled at it as she was soon kept busy with other contracts, and has since appeared on the cover of Vogue three times.
Being in front of a camera acting sultry is a good fit for the brunette, since she admits that she loves the attention and is a compulsive flirt. However, this hasn't always gone quite to plan; she has spoken in interviews about a hilarious incident that occurred when she was trying to look hot whilst on holiday wherein she ended up knocking herself unconscious while trying to elegantly hop onto a hammock with a scissor kick.
14 Screen Siren
After making her debut in Aria in 1987, Hurley has gone on to add a number of movie roles to her resume. She starred in Bedazzled alongside Brendan Fraser, Serving Sara with Matthew Perry and Passenger 57 which also starred Wesley Snipes. Her most famous role, however, is probably Vanessa Kensington in the first and second Austin Powers instalments.
It was for this role that she received her first and only acting award - she picked up the ShoWest Supporting Actress of the Year gong for her performance in Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery in 1997.
Unfortunately, she doesn't do much movie work nowadays... but there is some good news if you're hoping to see her on the big screen again - she has a new movie out next year titled Phoenix Wilder: And the Great Elephant Adventure.
13 The Girly Girl
Although she's the picture of femininity now, the stunning brunette actually went through a major punk phase growing up. She dyed her hair bright pink and got some piercings, much to the shock of her rather traditional parents; her father was a major in the Royal Army Educational Corps and her mother was a primary school teacher. Thankfully for her career, the phase didn't last beyond her teens and she became much less of a tom boy.
Another odd phase she went through was her desperate dream of one day becoming a spy - something that she probably could've been quite good at considering her natural charm and sophistication. However, she realized it wasn't to be, recently telling Red magazine:
"Well here’s the thing, I think English spies have to go through the diplomatic service and I don’t think I would have got through, to be honest. I don’t think anyone would choose me to go in the diplomatic service, or be a spy, when it really comes to it. I think I probably wanted to be a spy in movies more than anything."
12 Pals In High Places
Although her closest celeb friend will probably always be Hugh Grant, the beauty has plenty of other pals from the world of showbiz. She's been close to fashion mogul Donatella Versace for years, as well as being good friends with Gwyneth Paltrow, Patsy Kensit and David Walliams. She's also close to David and Victoria Beckham; so close in fact that she's godmother to two of their children.
Her top celebrity chum has to be Elton John, though. The pair are so tight that not only is he godfather to her son Damian, but she also went to stay with him after giving birth. Turning to the musician for support and to get away from the media frenzy that surrounded the event, she took refuge in his home in Berkshire, England; a huge $10 million mansion in a secluded spot with plenty of staff on hand to help out.
11 Bikini Babe
When she's not working, the model and actress loves to jet off for a week away on a tropical island somewhere (and who wouldn't if they had her lifestyle?). This gave her an idea for a new business venture - one that she could fit around her son's needs. She said in an interview with Tatler magazine:
"I was on Necker Island for a fashion shoot and even as [Richard Branson] was lying back in a hammock, he was on the phone, doing deals, managing his empire. But then I thought I am never going to have even a holiday home, let alone an island, unless I start a business that I can do without disrupting Damian's school days."
So, after a bit more thought she launched a swimwear line in 2005 - Elizabeth Hurley Beach. 12 years on and the brand continues to thrive, being sold in luxury stores such as Harrods. She even does a lot of the modelling herself, which - as you can see from the pics above - makes perfect sense!
10 Firm Friends
Hurley began dating fellow Brit Hugh Grant in the late 80s, after meeting on the set of Spanish movie Remando Al Viento. The relationship definitely wasn't plain sailing, though - Grant caused a media frenzy after being caught with a prostitute in 1995. Surprisingly, the actress stayed loyal to him, and they were together for another five years.
Despite their split in 2000, the couple have remained extremely close; they lived next door to one another for years and are godparents to each other's kids. In an interview with ET, the actress said of their relationship - "We are best friends. We look out for each other."
Grant meanwhile has been equally mushy, telling Andy Cohen during Watch What Happens Live: "She's still my best friend. The s*x bit probably fizzled out but she's my absolute best friend. The number one person I call in a crisis".
9 Too Hot To Handle
As I'm sure you'll agree looking at the photo above, Liz Hurley is pretty much the dream woman for a lot of guys. However, you'll be glad to know she's not only gorgeous, but basically the whole package.
As well as being beautiful on the outside, it turns out that the model also has an extremely big heart. She has put her name to a number of great causes over the years, including The Prince's Trust, End Hunger Network, Ark children's charity and the Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital & Research Centre.
She's also an ambassador for the Hop Skip and Jump children's charity, and a patron of the Elton John AIDS Foundation and City Veterans Network, a charity based in London that helps former members of the Armed Forces to find work and rehabilitation.
8 Lady In Red
If you're looking to get a regular fix of Miss Hurley (and looking at the photo above, who could blame you), then you're in luck - you can catch her starring in the E! drama The Royals. The flashy series follows a modern-day royal family, with Elizabeth playing the role as the Queen - a role that was pretty much made for her. The show is already on its fourth season, having premiered in March of 2015, but the good news is you'll have plenty of episodes to binge watch!
Another big TV role for the Brit was that of Diana Payne, who she played during the fifth season of Gossip Girl. The character was described as "a sexy, smart, self-made media mogul and all-around force to be reckoned with" - we can definitely see how Liz beat the competition for that role!
7 Timeless Beauty
Clearly when it comes to ageing (or lack thereof), Elizabeth is doing something right. One thing that probably helps is the fact that she's managed to keep all of her relationships drama-free.
She married textile heir Arun Nayar in 2002, in a traditional Hindu ceremony in Jodhpur, India. Sadly, it wasn't meant to be, and after eight years together the couple split in 2010. A year later, the actress got engaged to Shane Warne, but again it wasn't the fairytale ending she had hoped for; the engagement was called off in 2013.
However, Hurley has somehow managed to stay close to all of her exes, saying in a recent interview:
"The thing is if someone’s lovely how could you not be on good terms with them? None of us has ever done anything bad to one another. Hugh and Arun are very important in our lives. Shane is still a good friend; we were texting each other last night.
Damian loves Shane’s three kids, so we’ll always be connected to each other in one way or another."
6 Pretty In Pink
As you can probably tell from the pics above (and yes, they were taken only this year!), the actress looks after herself by eating sensibly and keeping active. While she's not a big fan of the gym, she has her own ways of burning the calories, as she told The Telegraph in a recent interview:
“I walk every day with my dogs and try to run—even though I hate running. I love pilates and yoga but don't do them regularly. I am extremely active, though, and don't sit still for long. I rarely go for a walk without taking the Strimmer with me, and I do stomach and bottom exercises while I wait for the bath to fill.”
She's also very careful about what she puts in her mouth, avoiding processed foods and fad diets. She does have one big junk food weakness though; smoky bacon flavour crisps - she's even had them flown to her when she's not at home in the UK!
5 A Sultry Stare
How anyone could regret a fling with this gorgeous woman we'll never understand, but it seems that was nearly the case for American businessman Steve Bing. After a brief relationship - which was non-exclusive according to Bing - the actress became pregnant in 2001.
Bing (who inherited $600 million when he turned 18) denied he could be the father at first, but he was caught out by a DNA test after the birth. He then offered to pay £100,000 a year into a trust for his son, Damian, but Hurley was quick to emphasize that the paternity test had never been about money, saying at the time:
"I have always made it perfectly clear that I don’t want any financial help from him whatsoever,’ she said. ‘The money is not wanted or welcome."
4 Ready To Mingle?
There's no doubt that Elizabeth would be a great catch for any lucky man, and it seemed like she may have filled that void in her life earlier this year. The actress was apparently spotted getting cosy with Canadian producer David Foster in Italy, with a source close to Foster telling ET at the time:
"Liz and David have been good friends for years and things recently turned romantic. Liz has been close to David and his daughters and knows the family well."
This would've been her first relationship since splitting with Shane Warne in 2013, but it seems the pair might just be pals after all - she spoke to You magazine recently and revealed that she's actually too busy to date, saying:
"When I’m filming, I don’t go out at all. Not at all. I walk in the door and go straight to bed."
3 Glam For A Cause
The actress definitely looks stunning in the photo above, and it's for a good cause too - she has been very active in Estée Lauder's Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign for many years. The company have even come up with a lipstick named after her - 'Elizabeth Pink', with all proceeds going to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.
It was Evelyn Lauder - daughter-in-law of the company’s founder Estée - who founded the pink ribbon, and asked Liz to join the campaign. As it turned out, the cause was very close to home for the actress - her own grandmother had recently died from the disease. She said of the loss:
"My grandmother, who was fabulous and from a large, happy family, didn’t talk about it, even to my mother. We found out later she’d had a double mastectomy but we didn’t know when she had it; we weren’t there for her. Now survival rates are higher and there are better treatments. We’ve done a good job of spreading awareness. A world that doesn’t have breast cancer – or one where you don’t die of it – has to be the aim."
2 Chilled Out
As well as a beautiful home in Kensington, the actress has a $10 million getaway in the countryside of Herefordshire, England. It's here that she really chills out and can let her hair down without worrying about prying paparazzi or nosy neighbours.
It's not all lying around doing nothing, though... the actress keeps very active even in her downtime - she even keeps bees and collects the honey from them to cook with. As if you needed any more proof that Ms. Hurley is basically the ideal woman, she revealed in an interview with Red Magazine that she does all the maintenance of her estate herself:
"I drive a tractor. I can do fencing. I can do ditching. I have some high-powered tools that I trim all my topiary hedges with - I love my hedge-trimmer, it’s probably my favourite possession. My brother gave me one for Christmas this year and it’s a fabulous light-weight one..."
1 Perfect Smile
The 52-year-old has a simply gorgeous smile; who wouldn't want to be sharing a joke with her over dinner?! One thing that probably hasn't put her in a cheery mood are the recent allegations against Harvey Weinstein - she and the producer go way back.
In a recent interview with Sky News she said that although the pair had known each other for 22 years, she'd never seen any inappropriate behaviour from him, and that she "can honestly say he certainly never asked me to massage him".
She added that she had heard about the casting couch problem in Hollywood, but thankfully had never encountered a situation like that herself, adding:
"Ever. I don't know if I look like someone who would give a karate chop if they ... I don't know - I never have."
