15 Sordid Secrets Surrounding The Full House Cast...Exposed

When it comes to the show Full House, I'll bet the first image that comes to mind is one of a loving family, wholesome but quirky. They have their problems, but at the end of the day, they're always there for one another with a big bear hug or a cheesy pep talk. In the Full House world, everything always turns out ok. But sadly, the Full House world is not the real world; in the real world, everything is not always ok. People get hurt, people get sick, and people struggle. And the people who portrayed the Tanner family on Full House (and now, on Fuller House) are just humans with their own set of problems and who need more than a bear hug and a pep talk to solve.

Full House last aired in 1995, and in the 22 years since, the main cast has experienced significant ups and downs in life. But definitely a lot of downs. From drugs to arrests to multiple marriages to lawsuits and everything you could imagine, these people have been through the ringer. Many of them had difficult childhoods, especially the little girls who played the Tanner daughters DJ, Stephanie, and Michelle. These girls grew up to be women with even bigger problems than their childhoods presented. And I'm here to inform you of them all, as well as the problems of the older generation of the show, and of the people who played Danny, Jesse, Joey, and Becky. None of them are without troubles in the real, non-Full House world.

Following are 15 of the scandals and hardships experienced by the main cast of Full House since it ended so long ago.

15 Mary-Kate Olsen's Strange Connection to Heath Ledger's Death -- And Her Secret Relationship With Him

It's been nine years since the untimely death of actor Heath Ledger, an event that shocked the world. But more than just the shock of his passing was the fact that his masseuse, who was the one who found him dead from an overdose in his New York apartment, called Mary-Kate Olsen, of all people, before calling 911. In fact, she called her three times! He was already dead, but still, this information was confusing and looked suspicious. Why would she do that? Apparently, the Olsen twin and Heath had been dating casually for about three months before his death, hooking up but not wanting to become exclusive. So, the masseuse called Mary-Kate, whom Heath had had on speed dial, to ask what she should do. From California, Mary-Kate then called a private security guard, who arrived on the scene at about the same time as the authorities (who were finally called as well).

14 Jodie Sweetin's Drug Addiction

This one is probably the most talked-about scandal from the Full House cast members, especially since Fuller House came to be. At 14 years old (the show ended when she was 13), Jodie began drinking wine. In high school, she began abusing cocaine. This eventually led to crystal meth, which she became addicted to. Now, Jodie is 35 and has been sober for nine years. She says that life isn't like a Full House episode, and she's gone through recovery for her children. Her own parents gave her up for adoption when she was nine months old, as her birth mother was also a drug addict, and her father was killed in a prison riot. Jodie says now, "I would hear stories about my mom leaving me to go off and party. And for years, I was like, 'F*** her. How could somebody do that to their kid?' When I started seeing my own addiction getting in the way of being a mom, I finally understood: if you're not in the right place to get sober, you're not ready to be a mom." She's been sober since December 7, 2008, the night she got her wake-up call in the form of being investigated by Child Protective Services after having been drinking and driving with her baby daughter. You can read all about her struggles in her book, unSweetined.

13 John Stamos and His Extortionists

In Orlando, Florida in 2004, John Stamos met 17-year-old Allison Coss (who claimed to be a college student) while vacationing there after Stamos's breakup with his wife of six years, Rebecca Romijn. Heartbroken at the time, John became friends with Allison after meeting her at a bar. To make a long story short, Allison took photos of him with cocaine and strippers in a hotel room. Then, these photos were later used to blackmail John for the sum of $680,000; if he didn't pay, they would be released to the tabloids. Pretending she was pregnant with his child, she also emailed him. In the end, everything came out, and Allison Coss (along with her partner in crime, Scott Sippola) was sentenced to four years behind bars. They were convicted of conspiracy and using email to threaten a person's reputation.

12 Mary-Kate Olsen's Rehab

Before the Olsen twins all but disappeared off the face of the earth in 2004, Mary-Kate entered a treatment facility to deal with her eating disorder. At this time, the twins were just beginning to show signs that as adults, their business-oriented, serious, off-screen lives would be almost wholly opposite of the squeaky-clean image they were known for having as kids. The girls have always been petite, but in 2004, many people started to notice that Mary-Kate, who is 5'2'', was looking frighteningly frail. She was practically skin and bones and had been getting increasingly thin for about two years before she entered the Cirque Lodge in Utah for six weeks. A source close to the Olsens said in an interview with People, "There was an intervention... They finally reached the point where they had to act. They didn't want to find her dead on the floor from not eating."

11 Bob Saget's Questionable Comments About His "Hot" On-Screen Daughters

Bob Saget played the dad on Full House for eight years. He was the single, widowed father of actresses Candace Cameron Bure, Jodie Sweetin, and Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen. But the actor, who is a doting dad to real daughters of his own, thoroughly creeped people out when he referred to his on-screen daughters as "hot." When the Full House reboot, Fuller House, was set to premiere, Bob made the comment about Candace Cameron Bure (DJ) and Jodie Sweetin (Stephanie): "These girls are beautiful; they're kind of hot." John Stamos quickly reminded Bob, "They're your daughters!" Dave Coulier told him, "You sound like Donald Trump right now," in reference to the fact that President Trump has said his own daughter Ivanka is stunning and that he would date her if he weren't related to her. So, even though both women are way past the age of 18, they're still playing Bob's daughters even to this day, as Fuller House has been renewed for a third season.

10 Candace Cameron Bure Receives Death Threats After Abortion Debate

In this day and age, people are better off keeping their opinions to themselves sometimes, especially when it comes to controversial topics like abortion. Candace Cameron Bure, who played oldest sister DJ Tanner on Full House, has gotten into trouble a couple of times for sharing too much. She basically put her foot in her mouth when she started talking about "what is wrong with feminism." On an episode of The View in 2016, Candace said that women who are pro-life are indeed feminists and that they're not "anti-women" if they're not supporting other women who are instead pro-choice. She and Whoopi Goldberg got into it about abortion, which Candace is staunchly against. She frequently shares her strict Christian beliefs and isn't shy about it. However, this led to the abortion debate, and Candace even received death threats because of it. She discussed Planned Parenthood and government funding and said things like "The child has no voice. Someone has to have a voice for them." She's also been criticized for saying she's "submissive" to her husband, Valeri Bure.

9 Speaking of Abortion... John Stamos Got a Girl Pregnant, and They Terminated the Pregnancy

So technically, this incident happened during the years of Full House, not after. But John Stamos, who played the hip, cool, Beach Boy fanatic, hair-gel freak Uncle Jesse on Full House, has had plenty of post-Full House drama, too (we'll get to that later). But it came to light in an interview with Howard Stern that back in his late 20s, he had gotten a girl pregnant. No, there's no little Uncle Jesse mini-me running around out there because he and the woman made the mutual decision to terminate the pregnancy (I wonder what his on-screen niece, Candace Cameron Bure, had to say about that? Wait -- oh no, I don't). John was 24 in 1987 when Full House first aired, so when he says he was in his late 20s when this happened, he was obviously well-off enough financially to have a child but simply didn't want to. That must piss off Candace to no end!

8 Lori Loughlin's YouTube Star Daughter Gets In Crash While Vlogging and Driving

Such a thing never would've happened on Full House, but sadly, as we know, Full House is not real life. Lori Loughlin, who played Aunt Becky on the show, learned this the hard way. Her real-life daughter with husband Mossimo Giannulli, Olivia Jade Giannulli, was recently involved in a car accident that made headlines because she was allegedly vlogging while driving. Olivia, who's a YouTube star and has one million subscribers to her fashion and makeup videos, was coming home from a hair appointment when she was stopped at a red light and a truck rammed her from behind. No one was hurt, but Mama Bear Lori vehemently denies that her daughter was vlogging while driving. We'll never know because the videos have since been deleted from YouTube. But the vlog had seen her driving on the way to the hair appointment and singing Stevie Wonder's "Signed, Sealed, Delivered." The video continued all through the appointment and picked up just after the crash (when, obviously, the first thing you do is vlog).

7 Could Dave Coulier Be Alanis Morissette's Statutory Abuser?

This seems pretty unlikely, but the evidence and the timeline do add up. The funny guy who played Joey Gladstone (also a funny man) on Full House, and now on Fuller House, once dated singer Alanis Morissette. She wrote a memoir called Perpetual Becoming, and in it, she said that at age 14, she was statutorily raped by a man 15 years older than her but whom she was dating. Dave Coulier and Alanis dated in 1993, when she would've been 19, and he would have been 34 -- a 15-year age gap. Of course, unless the two had known each other for five years before that, it doesn't add up. But that's not all; it's become common knowledge that Alanis's song "You Oughta Know" on her album "Jagged Little Pill" is about Dave. He's generally considered to be the reason for most of the negative things in her songs on that album, which came out in 1995 shortly after they broke up. It's still on the fence whether Dave was this terrible person in her life, but between the ages matching up and everything she sang about on the album that most people believe is about Dave, it's definitely possible.

6 John Stamos Gets a DUI and Goes to Rehab

In 2015, John Stamos pleaded no contest to one misdemeanor count of driving under the influence of a drug. Because of this, he escaped jail time and community service but clearly had issues to deal with. He was ordered into a three-month alcohol abuse program and a two-hour drug and alcohol counseling session from a private doctor and was required to attend 52 AA meetings utilizing a 12-step program. The incident that got him caught occurred on the morning of June 12, 2015 after authorities received "numerous" calls about a possible drunk driver. John had been driving alone and was taken to the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center for observation. Stamos later expressed regret about his "ignorant" and "horrific" behavior and explained a bit more what he had been using: "I was on some medications, antidepressants, and that damn Ambien, so I'm happy to be off that. My memory was starting to get really f---ed up, too, from that. Difficult to memorize scripts, I couldn't remember names and places and things. And that was the hardest thing to kick, by the way. Booze and whatever -- that happened, but the Ambien was tough."

5 Jodie Sweetin's Troubled Love Life

Jodie Sweetin has mostly made headlines for her drug addiction and subsequent recovery. But she's also been married three times at the age of 35, and that, too, has been news. Two of these husbands, she has children by, and one of them was a police officer and didn't even know she was using drugs! Now that's messed up. She was married to Shaun Holguin from 2002-2006, to Cody Herpin from 2007-2010 (father to Jodie's daughter Zoie), and finally to Morty Coyle from 2012-2015 (father to Jodie's daughter Beatrix). In 2016, it was announced that she was engaged to be married a fourth time, to Justin Hodak. They were due to wed this summer but have already called it quits before ever walking down the aisle. The couple were together for two years before announcing their engagement in 2016 and had even discussed having a child together after getting married. Sadly, none of that worked out because...

4 Jodie Sweetin's Psychopathic Ex-Fiance Threatens Suicide and Violates Restraining Order

It may be annoying to be a thrice-divorced mother, but things can always get worse, and they did for Jodie. Her ex-fiancé, Justin Hodak, was already a convicted felon when he was arrested for possessing a firearm at Jodie's residence in May of this year. Convicted felons aren't allowed to own guns, so he was taken into custody. The next day, Jodie filed for an emergency protective order against him because they'd gotten into a heated fight after ending their engagement. He had been drinking and smoking marijuana, and when Jodie asked him to leave, he threatened to commit suicide then pulled down a seven-foot bookshelf. But despite the protective order, he again showed up at her residence and was arrested for that. He pleaded no contest and was found guilty of possession of a deadly weapon and of falsifying evidence by threatening a witness with force or implied force. He was sentenced to six years and eight months in a state prison and, upon his release, will be on probation for five years and must enroll in a 52-week domestic violence treatment program. He was also required to turn over his 9mm semiautomatic gun. Wow, Jodie really knows how to choose 'em.

3 The Olsen Twins Sued Over Slave Labor

A group of 185 interns working for Mary-Kate and Ashley's design company, The Row, sued the twins for being overworked. They claimed they worked up to 50 hours a week for months at a time. Design intern Shahista Lalani (pictured on the right) said, "It was like 100 degrees outside. I'd just be sweating to death. I probably carried like 50 pounds worth of trench coats." She alleged that she and other interns rarely got breaks, and they were doing the work of employees without getting paid. Lalani said of the twins, "They're kind of mean to you. Other interns have cried. I'd see a lot of kids crying doing coffee runs, photocopying stuff." The twins struck a deal to "avoid the uncertainties of litigation," and in March of this year, they settled in court. They agreed to pay $140,000 to the group of 185 interns involved, meaning each intern would receive approximately $530 each, which is peanuts. But if you think about it, $140,000 is peanuts to Mary-Kate and Ashley. Shahista Lalani, for one, is now a fashion designer in New York City.

2 Olsen Twins Involved in S-x Trafficking Scheme

It is hard to picture the tiny, blonde twin starlets involved with something as serious as sex trafficking, and I'm glad to tell you that they weren't involved in the actual crime. Rather, one of their bodyguards was. He was one of 14 people arrested for using the services of a father-son pimp operation in New York. The pimps are named Vincent George, Sr. and Vincent George, Jr., and the Olsen twins' bodyguard who sought them out was named "Dale Araten." How creepy that the man who's supposed to be protecting you is, in his personal life, hurting other people. Araten was also part of the private security team Mary-Kate asked to go to Heath Ledger's apartment the day he died. This guy is involved in way too many scandals for my liking. I bet the cutesie little Olsen twins of Full House fame never thought their names would be brought up in an article about human trafficking. Gross.

1 Dave Coulier Reveals He Knew Bruce Jenner's Secret For Years

I never would've pictured the wacky Dave Coulier and the more serious Bruce Jenner as friends. But they were, way back when. In June of 2015, Dave said on The Russell Rush Show that he'd known the secret for years, 25 years to be exact. He says he knew it all along because Bruce was very good friends with Dave's ex-wife, Jayne Modean. So, it was not a surprise to him when Bruce became Caitlyn. Dave and Bruce did a show together years ago called Skating With Celebrities, and Dave says he noticed Bruce had gone through some reconstructive surgery. "And I thought, 'Man, I wonder if he is actually going to do this.'" Dave also revealed that according to his ex-wife, Bruce had originally wanted his new name to be "Nicky," not "Caitlyn."
