If you haven’t been paying attention lately to Paris Jackson, she has grown into a full blown hottie. She’s turned into an edgy individual with a mind of her own and some serious big blues eyes. She came into her teenage years as a metalhead and never looked back. It was surprising to everyone when she went into that genre of music; after all she is the daughter of the legendary King of Pop Michael Jackson. That’s exactly what happened, though, and I guess the fact that she is obsessed with music, in general, is all that matters. She has grown into a strong young woman, and she has a fierce loyalty to her father that you don’t see every day. She has no problem standing up for him in every type of situation, and it’s endearing to see the strong love she has for her father. You may be surprised however that she is also a controversial celebrity. She has no problem speaking her mind on any topic and will get involved in anything as long as it makes her happy.

These days she has been in the media quite a bit about her views on her father’s death and the controversy she feels is being hidden. She has some shocking allegations that really makes you think. Whether you know a lot about Paris or a little, some of these things will really raise an eyebrow and open your eyes to the new generation of the Jackson’s. Check out these shocking facts about Paris Jackson that you had no idea about!

15 She Identifies as Black

This is a personal preference for her of course as her skin would be considered fair, but obviously, this beauty has parents of two different races. So, should she not be able to identify with whichever side that she feels more connected to? During a recent Rolling Stone’s article in which she appeared on the cover, Paris was attacked by Wendy Williams a TV host about the fact that she even appeared on the cover. Williams didn’t believe that just having genes of a famous pop star was enough to get you on such a prestigious cover. “She has not made her mark on her own,” Williams chided during her segment. “You cannot be on the cover of one of the most prestigious entertainment and influential magazines in the world and just be the daughter of and tell your story inside.” Paris doesn’t care about her skin color because her father instilled in her that she was black and she believed him. She was also attacked by Williams on that topic as well. “I get that she considers herself black and everything, but I’m just talking about the visual because you know … black is not what you call yourself; it’s what the cops see when they got steel to your neck on the turnpike. It’s what they see,” Williams said. “But that’s cute and good for her.”

14 She Rarely Sees Her Mother

It’s no big secret that Michael Jackson didn’t have a solid romance with Paris’s mother. The two were married for a period of time, but no one believed that the marriage was real or that it was based on true love. The pregnancy just seemed like an arrangement between them and when the children were born Michael took sole custody of them. Paris hasn’t had much contact with her mother as she and her brother were also solely raised by Michael. He divorced Rowe in 1999 though many people believed that the marriage wasn’t based on love at all. Rowe has always stated that she was perfectly okay with Michael taking the children and raising them on his own. It makes you wonder if she was really okay with her children going into complete seclusion.

13 She Was Abused

It’s not something she likes to talk about and who could blame her. Sexual abuse is always a touchy subject for anyone, never mind a young girl. During her Rolling Stones interview, she discussed it briefly describing it as a traumatic event that she never really got over. It was the first time that she spoke about the incident in public. The assault happened when she was fourteen years old. She claims the person was not anyone she knew, and he was much older than she was. The person was obviously never brought to justice as Paris doesn’t really like even discussing the incident. It’s unclear whether she even knows the name of the person who assaulted her. "I don't wanna give too many details. But it was not a good experience at all, and it was really hard for me, and, at the time, I didn't tell anybody."

12 She’s Been the Victim of Cyberbullying

It always amazes me that celebrities can be bullied. There they are out in the world making millions of dollars and living lives that most of us only dream of and yet there are people going online talking trash about them as if they could do any better. Don’t get me wrong, there are definitely some celebrities out there that make me shake my head but rarely is it in the case of a teenager who hasn’t done anything wrong. Paris is certainly on the list of people who have been bullied online to the point where they have had to go offline completely. Paris has posted some very emotional videos over the years pleading for the bullying to stop. "I don't understand how there can be so much hatred in the world right now. I got so much hatred that I tried to kill myself. I've tried sticking up for myself," she explained. "I’ve tried the whole blocking the haters thing, not reading the comments... Ignoring it. But it’s hard... when there’s so much of it." The bullying is one of the reasons why she’s attempted to kill herself.

11 She Has Over 50 Tattoos

When you look at her tiny figure, you start to wonder where on earth are all those tattoos hidden. Sure some of them are out in the open, but still fifty tattoos? Where is she hiding them all? Some of these tattoos she got before she was even old enough to get them. She has dedicated nine of those tattoos to her late father and considered them to be reminders of his love for her. At the age of 19, she’s pretty young to have acquired a number of tattoos that she has. Michael died when Paris was only eleven years old shaking up her world forever. "They always say, 'Time heals,'" she says. "But it really doesn't. You just get used to it. I live life with the mentality of 'OK, I lost the only thing that has ever been important to me.' So going forward, anything bad that happens can't be nearly as bad as what happened before. So I can handle it."

10 She Tried to Kill Herself

Losing a father that you were close to at such a young age is traumatizing enough, but both Paris and her brother Prince were basically raised in seclusion. After the death of Michael Jackson, they were thrown into the media in a way in which they just weren’t used to. In 2013, Paris went through a terrible depression that led to a drug addiction. When things became too much for her, she took twenty Motrin pills and started slashing her wrists. It wasn’t the first time either; she had been cutting herself for years and trying to hide it from her family. "It was just self-hatred," she says, "low self-esteem, thinking that I couldn't do anything right, not thinking I was worthy of living anymore." She had tried to commit suicide many times. "It was just once that it became public." After the third time, the hospital forced her to take a residential therapy program.

9 She Believes Michael Jackson Was Murdered

Michael Jackson wouldn’t be the first celebrity that had some mysterious rumors surrounding his death. Paris puts the blame on Dr. Conrad Murray, the man who offered Michael surgical anesthetic propofol to treat his problems with insomnia. The doctor was later convicted of manslaughter because of it. But Paris is not accusing Dr. Murray of murder. She believes that there was someone out to get her father and they finally got what they wanted. “All arrows point to that. It sounds like a total conspiracy theory, and it sounds like bullshit, but all real fans and everybody in the family knows it. It was a setup. It was bullshit." Paris says, "he would drop hints about people being out to get him, and at some point, he was like, 'They're gonna kill me one day.’’ She says she knows who the people are behind the death. "I definitely do, but it's a chess game, and I am trying to play the chess game the right way. And that's all I can say about that right now."

8 She’s Admittedly Crazy

Aren’t we all? In the world in which we all live, I would think it’s hard pressed for anyone to say there hasn’t been a moment in their life when they felt like they were crazy. Especially if you're dating. Don’t even try to argue that point with me. After her suicide attempt, public Paris went into a therapy camp to get the help that she needed. "It was great for me," she says. "I'm a completely different person."

She added, "I was crazy. I was actually crazy. I was going through a lot of, like, teen angst. And I was also dealing with my depression and my anxiety without any help." No doubt the death of her father also impacted her depression. While she was in therapy, she was on antidepressants but has since been taken off of them.

7 She Doesn’t Drink

It seems that for this 19-year-old she has lived a hundred lives in the short life she's lived. How could such a young girl have experienced so much pain and anguish already? She has so much more life ahead of her to live, and hopefully, she will be able to find peace in her future. Considering the fact that she went through depression as well as a drug addiction, it’s no surprise to find that she’s given up drinking as well. Vices like that can make slipping back into a dangerous lifestyle very easy. These days her only vice left are cigarettes. It’s a much healthier lifestyle for a girl that just wants to get her life on track and leave the drama behind. There’s much to be said for the kind of strength she must have to survive the ordeals that she did, especially in the media when people can be destructive.

6 She Moved to Neverland Ranch

After her father’s death, both Paris and her brother Prince moved in with their grandmother. She stayed there until she turned eighteen, at which point she wanted to move back to her father’s estate, the Neverland Ranch. It probably brings her a lot of comfort to be back in a place that he loved so much. She’s not alone however, she is dating Michael Snoddy from the Street Drum Corps. She spends most of her time with her boyfriend who keeps her grounded. "I never met anyone before who made me feel the way music makes me feel," says Paris. The Jacksons weren’t too impressed with the young guy when they first met him as he had a confederate flag tattooed on his body. He has since had it covered up which went a long way with the Jacksons.

5 She Swears She Grew Up Like a Normal Person

What? Not quite what we would expect from the child of a legend. Despite the fact that she is the daughter of the King of Pop she insists that she had a normal childhood. That’s hard to believe considering all the celebrity slumber parties, not to mention the fact that they literally had a carnival in their backyard. "We couldn't just go on the rides whenever we wanted to," she said about the rides in her backyard. "We actually had a pretty normal life. Like, we had school every single day, and we had to be good. And if we were good, every other weekend or so, we could choose whether we were gonna go to the movie theater or see the animals or whatever. But if you were on bad behavior, then you wouldn't get to go do all those things."

Yeah, we’re not buying it, we think it might have still been like a fairy-tale.

4 She’s Going to be a Billionaire

Paris is still unsure about what she wants to do with her life. She is interested in making her own money despite the fact that she has a trust fund worth billions. She took her hand at college when she first got out of high school, but she decided that it just wasn’t for her. She would never really need to work a day in her life if she didn’t want to. Both she and her brother are heirs to a fortune; they have a trust that they share that is worth over a billion dollars. It is set up, so it disburses money to the two kids in different stages. She is interested in making her own dough, but she just hasn’t figured out what she wants to do long term as of yet. She could certainly have a future in fashion like so many other young celebrities her age. But for now modeling and acting is what she is seeking.

3 A Jackson Documentary Got Shut Down

At one point while Paris was a teenager her grandmother Katherine had put together a documentary about Michael Jackson as a means of remembering her son. She was going to call it Remembering Michael, and she was working on it with her two grandchildren. Surprisingly fans lost their minds over the idea that a documentary was going to be made. The media got a hold of it and made the situation even worse. You would think fans would love a documentary about Michael and his children but it didn’t go as planned and Katherine shut the whole thing down. A part of the documentary was shown, and it had clips of Paris talking about how her dad had always promised to teach her and her brother how to do the Moonwalk. He never got the chance before his death, however, and it saddened her.

2 She’s Terribly Insecure

It’s hard to believe that someone so beautiful could be insecure. I mean, look at the girl; those eyes alone could break the heart of any guy. But she has struggled with her self-esteem for years, and the cyberbullying certainly didn’t help. When it comes to being analyzed online by haters, she can understand why her father went and had so much plastic surgery. When she got into modeling, it helped her a lot with her insecurities. "I've had self-esteem issues for a really, really long time. Plenty of people think I'm ugly, and plenty of people don't. But there's a moment when I'm modeling where I forget about my self-esteem issues and focus on what the photographer's telling me – and I feel pretty. And in that sense, it's selfish."

She has had to deal with people dissecting the way she looks for years and modeling has brought her a means of therapy that she never had before.

1 Michael Jackson Inspired Her to Be a Better Person

The one thing that Paris always remembers from when her father was still alive was how inspiring he was and how he cared about the world around him. He wanted the best for his children and always told them they could be as big in the world as they wanted to be. "If you wanna be bigger than me, you can," he'd tell her. "If you don't want to be at all, you can. But I just want you to be happy." Her brother has always said that she is the most like her father out of anyone and she definitely shares his love for healing the world around them. She has a strong passion for the environment and worries about the future of it.

"I'm really scared for the Great Barrier Reef," she says. "It's, like, dying. This whole planet is. Poor Earth, man."
