People these days are completely obsessed with celebrities, and sometimes this obsession can go a little too far. They say imitation is the best form of flattery, but sometimes it's a little embarrassing when people fail horribly in their efforts to mimic their favorite celebrities. We live in an age when scientific advancements can make people look pretty much however they want, providing they have the money of course. These enhancements, however, don't always give the exact results people want. The vast majority of people who go to doctors ask to get specific body parts they see on celebs: a nose, cheeks, or lips, for example. But very rarely do people ask their doctors to try and make them look exactly like their favorite celebs using a variety of enhancements.

This does happen from time to time, and the results are... questionable. Sometimes people spend thousands, only to regret their decision later, as they've lost sense of who they really are. Other times, people imitate celebs purely for fun, and they're not taking themselves too seriously. Either way, it almost never actually works out very well. These stories are funny and light-hearted, a good contrast to the world of enhancements, which often gets pretty depressing. While these people clearly failed, most of them at least still have their dignity. Both stories are told in this article, but one thing's for sure: No matter what, when people try to imitate celebs, they usually fail.

This Failed Kylie Lookalike

Kylie Jenner is someone that a lot of women and young girls look up to these days. Whether that's even a good thing is open to discussion. But the sad truth is that many women are taking their efforts to imitate her a little too far. Kylie Jenner has denied getting any enhancements (something that some people question), but has admitted to getting lip injections. It's fairly obvious to see that those swollen lips are not by any means all-natural.

But this woman decided to get her lips done in order to mimic Kylie, and she obviously took it a little too far. Even Kylie's massive kissers would never swell to this size, and it borders on the ridiculous. The saddest thing about this is the fact that Kylie is, intentionally or not, encouraging women to alter their lips.

Kitty's Effort To Look Like Jennifer Lawrence

A woman named Kitty got a lot of media attention after she spent $25,000 on enhancements to try to help her look like Jennifer Lawrence. The mother of one said that she wanted to make the change because she was feeling uncomfortable with her post-baby body. But the results are hardly convincing. She vaguely looks like J Law, but not really... Seems like she wasted a lot of money to look somewhat like a celeb...

Talking about her work, Kitty revealed, "I can appreciate that her personality is spunky and fun. I can appreciate that her body is banging. I'm not trying to look like Pamela Anderson here during her Baywatch days, I'm trying to look like a very capable, very personal level-headed female who is an Academy Award winner. I am a strong woman. I am in charge of how I look and I can change that and then change that again if I want. I don't think you have to be crazy to want to look better or feel better about yourself. That's not crazy."

Nadya Suleman Wants To Look Like Angelina Jolie

You may recognize Nadya Suleman as the "Octomom," the famed woman who gave birth to eight babies at once, all octuplets. Because this woman is actually somewhat famous, she might be the only person in this article to be considered not just a normal person. But her efforts to look like a celebrity are apparently very real. The celebrity is allegedly trying to mimic is none other than famed actress Angelina Jolie. Sources say that she got her lips done and altered other parts of her body in an effort to look exactly like the star.

But when she was confronted with this, she denied everything. She says she doesn't even really care about Angelina, and she barely watches her movies. But Angelina herself has allegedly experienced something different. According to rumors, the star herself has received "creepy" fan mail from the Octomom, and is really weirded out by her obsession.

Ciara Photo Recreation

Here's another example of a hilariously bad celeb photo recreation from Celeste Barber. In this case, she is trying (and failing) to mimic a photo taken by Ciara. In this photo, Ciara is trying to show that you can still be beautiful and be a mother at the same time. The photo embodies strength and maternal individualism, and was celebrated when it was posted on social media. It soon went viral. But when Celeste Barber tried to mimic it, a very different message was sent.

It's clear that Celeste Barber was not actually trying to mimic the photo perfectly, she was more poking fun at it, and parodizing it to an extent. The message Celeste Barber is sending with this photo is that Ciara's photo is not a realistic representation of what being a mother is all about. It's far less glamorous!

Jack Johnson Wants To Look Like David Beckham

David Beckham is one athlete that tons of people have looked up to over the years. He was the coolest guy in soccer for a very long time, and was one of the very first footballers to use his image to his advantage, turning himself into a brand that could be used for advertising and modelling campaigns to supplement his already lucrative soccer salary. It was a genius move, and one that inspired other soccer players that followed him. But in some cases, people can get a little too obsessed with this soccer god. Case in point: Jack Johnson.

This man spent $20k on enhancements to look like Becks, and now he's $14k in debt. Not only that, but he also tried to take his own life: “I tried to take my own life, because trying to look like Beckham is a full-time job and is not easy. Trying to look like Beckham nearly ended me and I don’t want others to make the same mistake. I obviously don’t blame David Beckham, it’s not his fault. I was trying desperately to look like him and it nearly cost me my life. I feel like I’m in the best place ever now – and I really don’t want anybody to go through what I have. Nobody should ever aspire to look like celebrities to that extent, and I’m an example of that. You need to just be yourself.” What a heartbreaking story.

Tobias Strebel Wants To Look Like Justin Bieber

The world was shocked in 2016 as news that Tobias Strebel, the man who spent over $100,000 to look like Justin Bieber, had passed from an overdose. The man was a German national living in Los Angeles, and he had been the subject of more than a few news reports over the years. He also appeared on the show Botched in 2014, where he first received media attention. The autopsy report found that he had several medications in his system at the time of his passing. Could it be that his quest to become Justin Bieber ended in depression and sadness?

Speaking about his decision to mimic the star, he stated, "What brought me to Bieber was the whole package: the full cheeks, the full temples, the bright open eyes, the full luscious lips, and spatial framing. [He's] just extraordinarily beautiful."

Ashley Horn Wants To Look Like Lindsay Lohan

One of the most bizarre tales of celebrity mimicry involved a teen named Ashley Horn. Her appearance on the Trisha Goddard Show was one of the most interesting that the show had ever seen, and audiences could hardly believe what they were saying. The teen initially admitted to getting thousands of dollars worth of enhancements to look like Lindsay Lohan, her idol. But then it came out that she was actually related to the star! She had no idea, and was just as shocked as everyone else when it came out that she was actually Lohan's half-sister.

Things got weirder as she took a polygraph test which seemed to suggest that she lied about getting the enhancements to look like Lohan. But there's no denying that she did do something, which included changing her nose. Either way, she doesn't really look much like Lohan, even though she is supposedly related to her! What does Ashley Horn think about Lindsay Lohan? "I'm hotter than Lindsay! I have no problem saying that," she said. "I'm not Lindsay. I wasn't raised in that family. I don't drink or party. I like being a responsible person."

Celeste Barber Wants To Look Like Kendall Jenner

Celeste Barber is another person who got a lot of fame for trying to look like more than a few famous celebs. In this particular photo, she's trying (and failing) to look like Kendall Jenner. But the funniest thing about this is that she's pretty much trying to fail on purpose. That makes her a hell of a lot more respectful than many of the other people on this list.

Explaining why she does this, she stated: “I never started out for it to be a body positive thing. It was always like, this is how celebrities get out of the pools [and] I’m like no, this is how you get out of the pool. I totally identify as a feminist, but I’m even more so now without knowing I was one. All of a sudden, I’m like, oh yeah, I’ll march because I’ve got a voice.”

Emily Ratajkowski's Failed Lookalike

Here's another example of one of Celeste Barber's hilarious photo shoots. This time, she tried to mimic none other than famed Instagram star and model Emily Ratajkowski. This girl is considered one of the hottest women on Earth, and she has countless followers on social media. She's famous for showing a lot of skin, and her private leaked photos have also surfaced through the years. She hangs out with the Kardashians, and is very much part of the "in crowd."

Celeste Barber decided to recreate one of her more famous pictures – one where she's walking her dog dressed only in lingerie. Obviously she failed miserably in her attempt to match the model, but then again that wasn't what she was going for. She just wanted to make people laugh, and show everyone how ridiculous that photo really was.

Claire Louise Leeson Also Wants To Look Like Kim K

As it turns out, Kim K is a very popular choice for people who want to look like a celebrity. Another woman who spent thousands trying to look like the reality TV star is Claire Louise Leeson. This British woman actually works as a professional lookalike to Kim K, although she's now regretting her decision to get the enhancement in the first place. And you have to admit, the resemblance isn't even that convincing.

She laments, "I'm sick and tired of being compared to Kim Kardashian, I am my own person. I always had a resemblance to Kim and I thought I could capitalize on that by copying her look, but it's backfired and now I hate looking like her. It's ruining my life, I'm just being ridiculed. People don't understand that it's not a compliment for me to be compared to Kim, it really upsets me. I feel like a bit of an idiot and I regret saying I wanted to be like her."

Deborah Davenport Wants To Look Like Kate Winslet

Another woman who tried to look like a celebrity was Deborah Davenport. This middle-aged woman from America was unhappy with her face, especially her changing nose, which was getting bigger and bigger every year (a natural part of aging). So she went to her local doctor and spent 15 grand on enhancements in an effort to mimic the actress she idolized so much. In her own words, she found it ironic that she would have to get enhancements to mimic someone who has never had any work done themselves.

As you're probably figuring out, it's very common for people to ask their doctors to make them look like their favorite celebrities. But many doctors have spoken out about the dangers of this approach. Just because one celebrity might look good with big lips or a certain nose shape, that doesn't mean it will also look good on you.

Myla Sinanaj Wants To Look Like Kim Kardashian

You may not have heard of Myla Sinanaj, but she wants the whole world to pay attention to her. And the way she hoped to accomplish that is by getting enhancements to resemble Kim Kardashian. And she actually has a lot in common with Kim K, even before the enhancements. She's also American-Armenian, and she has even dated one of Kim Kardashian's exes, Kris Humphries. Anyway, Myla Sinanaj spent thousands of dollars trying to look like the star she idolized, and the results weren't too far off.

But the truth is that even with all she has done, she didn't really look like Kim K all that much. Her aim was to start her own TV show because of her new Kim K-esque body and looks. But she failed to realize one important thing: to be famous, you have to be unique. You're never going to be famous if you're copying someone else.

Tiffany, The Girl Who Tried To Look Like Ivanka

Love her or hate her, Ivanka Trump has emerged as a major political figure and celebrity over the last few years. The daughter of President Donald Trump, she has proved to be very influential to her father's decisions, and some even say that she might run for president herself one day. Her professional and elegant looks are what drove one woman, named Tiffany, to get several enhancements to help her look like the president's daughter. The results, as you can see, are less than convincing.

Tiffany actually appeared on the show Botched, where her story was examined closely. It was revealed that the woman started to get enhancements about 5 months after her marriage ended, which could've been a cause of her obsession.

Liam Martin

Some of these stories have been slightly depressing, so let's bring things to a fun note. An Australian teen named Liam Martin has been getting tons of attention for dressing up as his favorite celebrities. Obviously, he fails pretty hard in his efforts to mimic them, but that's not what this is about. It's just about him having fun, and most people love him for it. In this case, he's trying to look like Katy Perry.

Talking about his strange hobby, Liam revealed, "Tyra Banks has reposted one I did of her, Iggy Azalea commented on a photo of me dressed up as her saying 'You are next level,' and Cara Delevingne liked one of my photos of her. I love doing Miley Cyrus because she’s so crazy and controversial already on her own. When I do her everybody loves it. People love her because she is so crazy — the crazier, the better. Not many guys my age do that sort of thing, it’s pushing the boundaries. People seem to love it so I keep doing it — it’s crazy how much reaction I get."

Fran Mariano Wants To Look Like Ricky Martin

A man in Argentina underwent countless enhancements to try and look like his idol, Ricky Martin. Admittedly, they have been mildly successful in making the South American fan look like the famous singer, but in truth he will never be able to truly look like him. And was it really worth the thousands of dollars he spent on the medical procedures?

Speaking about his extensive work, Fran Mariano admitted that it was a lot of work and a lot of money went into it. We can't help but feel bad for the man, despite the fact that it was his decision. The need to look like a celebrity was so strong that he essentially dedicated his life to it, and it of course was not necessary.
