Rita Ora is actually an incredibly interesting woman. Trust me, there is a lot more than meets the eye when it comes to this celebrity. And that's actually quite a compliment, considering that what "meets the eye" is a gorgeous, sexy, and flirty young woman who is incredibly well-dressed. She's one of those girls who's truly multi-talented, being a successful singer, actor, television personality, and fashion designer. She's branching out into many different fields today, and she's looking to spread into the United States in style.
It wasn't always easy for Rita Ora, however. She has had to work extremely hard to get to where she is today. From escaping war-torn Kosovo as a child, to singing at open mics in bars, to auditioning for the Eurovision Song Contest, this girl really has paid her dues to make it in the entertainment world. She is a self-made woman in every sense of the phrase, fighting her way to the top with her willpower and drive as her only weapons. And she's far from being done.
She often gives off the impression that she couldn't care less what anyone thinks about her... And she doesn't. She's not even too concerned about staying famous. She's gotten to a point now where she just wants to do the things that make her happy, like designing her own line of Adidas clothing, or performing at charity events, or even appearing in the latest blockbuster movie. This is a girl who you will become addicted to, and once you get to know her you'll be a die-hard fan for sure.
15 She Has Her Own Line Of Adidas Clothing
One of the coolest things about Rita Ora right now is her involvement in the fashion world. Back in 2009, it was announced that Rita Ora had been approached by Adidas with an offer to collaborate and design her very own line of Adidas clothing. This involved kicks as well as clothing, and the clothing line is out right now. It has been a pretty successful venture, and people seem to like her clothing judging by the reviews on the Adidas website. For the 2017 season, there are 7 products available on the online store. This includes a beanie, several track tops and bottoms, and three different shoes. The shoes as well as clothing bear several homages to Rita Ora's outlook on life, most notably the phrase "banned from normal" emblazoned on the shoes and clothing. With all of Rita Ora's fashion knowledge, something tells me this is only the first of many steps this celebrity will be taking into the fashion world.
14 The New Host Of America's Next Top Model
Fashion seems to be Rita Ora's focus right now, as it was announced by Tyra Banks back in 2016 that Rita would be the girl to replace her as host of the successful reality television show America's Next Top Model. This decision shocked a lot of people. After all, Rita Ora is known primarily for music, not fashion. True, she's done some modeling, and she's (barely) done some fashion designing. But what she does have is a ton of experience in reality television, and this is probably what landed her the job. She really knows how to make reality television interesting, as she's already shown in her first season hosting the show. She's already shown that she's more than capable of bringing her share of drama into the show, as one contestant claims Rita kicked her out because she once dated her ex, Calvin Harris. And we all know that drama is what makes reality television so good.
13 She's Starting To Get Into Acting Seriously
Rita Ora is the kind of girl who has so many hidden talents up her sleeve. There's so many that it's hard to even keep count. We've already demonstrated her involvement in the fashion world, and of course she's well known for singing, but something else she us gravitating more and more towards is acting. She's done some minor roles here and there, including 90210 and Furious 6. But she's hardly new to acting, as she's appeared on several British drama series since she was as young as 13 years old. But the role she's getting the most attention for right now was her portrayal of Mia, Christian Grey's sister in 2015's 50 Shades Of Grey. She actually didn't even expect to land the role, as she was initially interested in doing the soundtrack for the movie. But production saw something in her and asked her to audition for the role, and the rest is history. Chances are we'll see a lot more of this star in the acting world.
12 She's Politically Active
One thing that Rita Ora really deserved attention for is the fact that she's politically active. And by active I don't mean she makes the odd vaguely worded political comment on her social media accounts, I mean active, as in actually doing things that matter. Perhaps the best example of this was back in 2015, when she was named an honorary ambassador for The Republic Of Kosovo. This offer was made directly from the president of Kosovo, Atifete Jahjaga. She was given the honor at the Embassy of Kosovo in London, where she was joined by former British Prime Minister Tony Blair. She was completely humbled by the event, and pledged to focus her attention on helping the youth of Kosovo. This is much more meaningful than other celebrities, who merely trash talk celebrities on Twitter and call it a day. There are many other instances of her doing great things politically, mostly to do with charity.
11 She Does Tons Of Charity Work
Rita Ora isn't the type of celebrity to keep all her wealth for herself. She's all for giving back to the needy, and this is yet another reason she needs to be in the spotlight. In 2013, Rita Ora appeared as a special guest at Le Bal de la Rose du Rocher, a special event put on by the Princess Grace Foundation. The Princess Grace Foundation is an organization dedicated to finding new talent in the film, theater, and dance industries, and helping them reach success by awarding them scholarships, apprenticeships, and fellowships. She also performed at the Chime For Change concert in London, which was aimed at raising awareness for girl's and women's issues. She also helped with the creation of UNICEF UK's "No place like home" campaign, which raised awareness for Syrian refugees. She also headlined Gabrielle's Gala in London to raise money for cancer research. She also performed at 2014's Band Aid 30. There are countless other examples.
10 She Stays Out Of The Spotlight
One of the most admirable things about Rita Ora is that she doesn't even really want to be in the spotlight. This is a stark contrast to many other celebrities, who can't stand not being in the news for more than a couple weeks. Rita Ora really doesn't care about being famous, and she's said as much many times. But people like Rita Ora are exactly the kind of people who NEED to be famous. Wouldn't you way rather hear about people who were just living their lives, rather than people who cared so much about what people thought of them? Rita Ora gets a lot of hate, and a lot of people talk about her, but she doesn't go through the effort of responding to them. A lot of people would feed the drama, knowing that it would give her publicity. But Rita Ora won't stoop that low, and that's why I love her.
9 She Put Rob Kardashian In His Place
Another reason Rita Ora should deserve more credit because of her amazing bravery in standing up to the world's most talked about family: The Kardashians. If you don't already know, she once dated Rob Kardashian. Obviously, things did not go well for the couple, and Rita Ora soon called it off. But then Rob Kardashian inexplicably went on Twitter and claimed she had cheated on him with "20 guys," even going as far as to claim she was pregnant with his baby. She absolutely destroyed him on social media, saying that there should be a mental stability test people have to take before they post on social media. Rob Kardashian was obviously lying about what she did during their relationship, but it took a lot of bravery to stand up to such a massive media family like the Kardashians. You have to remember, Rita Ora is pretty unknown in America compared to the Kardashians, so that family could have potentially ended Rita Ora's career and ruined her reputation. But she stuck to her guns, and she deserves respect for that.
8 She Defended Chris Brown
We all know that Chris Brown has made some pretty serious mistakes in his life. But does he really deserve all the hate? A lot of people say no, and Rita Ora is one of them. She bravely took the opposite stance to most people towards Chris Brown when she celebrated him as an artist after choosing to collaborate him with on a song. This was all the way back in 2015, and she pointed out people should be looking at Chris Brown as an artist and a musician, rather than through the lens of what he does in his personal life. And she has a point. People listen to music because they like the music that person makes, not because they're a good person in their everyday life. Her exact words were, "Chris Brown is strong, powerful, and someone that is important to me personally and professionally. The discrimination and all what people think? If you have a great song then no one cares."
7 She Went To The Same School As Many Other Stars
One of the things that not many people know about Rita Ora is that she attended the same school as many other celebrities. They must have been putting something in the water at this school, because it's uncanny how many talented artists came out of it. The more likely explanation, of course, is that the teachers there are very good at what they do. The school is called Sylvia Young Theatre School, a well-respected arts school in London. This school was named after its founder, Sylvia Young. The amount of celebrities that have graduated from this school is stunning. As well as Rita Ora, celebrities such as Amy Winehouse, Denise Van Outen, Billie Piper, Emma Bunton (of the Spice Girls), Alex Pettyfer, Kara Tointon, Lacey Turner, Chenelle Olaiya, Tom Fletcher, Matt Willis, Vanessa White, Nathan Sykes, and more have all graduated from this school.
6 She Started From The Bottom
One of the most respectable things about Rita Ora is that she really came from nothing. Her rise to fame has long been considered a "rags to riches" story. This is a stark contrast to a lot of other celebrities who started off with a lot of friends from high places, or families with a lot of money. Her father owned a pub and was a part-time economist. Her mother is psychiatrist. Some of her first performances were singing at her father's pub! She actually rose to fame the hard way, by entering UK's Eurovision Song Contest. She later dropped out because she felt she wasn't ready. She started singing at open mic contests, before being spotted by a prominent DJ. Unlike a lot of big celebrities out there who had their path to fame paved in front of them, Rita Ora definitely paid her dues before making it big.
5 She Has An Amazing Fashion Sense
One of the best things about Rita Ora is her amazing fashion sense, and it's a real sign that she has what it takes to make it big in the entertainment industry. Tons of people have commented on her amazing fashion sense with the kinds of clothes she wears. And the best thing about her style is that it's totally her own. She doesn't seem to be copying anyone, it's totally based on her own personality, and that's what makes it so appealing. She's also a really huge enthusiast of the fashion world, and she can often be spotted in front row seats at the biggest fashion shows in the world. Think about it this way: Would she be offered a contract with Adidas if she didn't have an amazing and unique fashion sense? I don't think there's been a single outfit that she's been ridiculed for, and she always keeping her fans guessing.
4 She Helped Guys Get Comfortable By Flirting With Them On X-Factor
Rita Ora has no problems with flirting, and she's not afraid to admit it either. But one of the things that really got her on a lot of people's radars was the fact that she was using her flirting powers for the powers of good, not evil. That's what she admitted during an interview when she revealed that she was flirting with the male contestants on X-Factor to "make them feel more comfortable," and to help them relax before they performed. In her own words, she confessed, "I instigate it! I don't think they go into it thinking, 'I'm going to flirt with Rita.' Once I start instigating it they get more comfortable. My aim is to get them comfortable, to get the pressure off them, if I can, and then hopefully they will do a better audition." This just goes to show that sometimes girls aren't flirting with you just for fun; they're doing it because they care about you! Either way, Rita Ora's flirty nature is something that makes her an awesome celebrity.
3 She's A Sexual Child Abuse Survivor
One of the things about Rita Ora that demands a lot of respect is the fact that she's actually a child abuse survivor. Not only did she rise above that, but she was also brave enough to come out and admit this publicly, giving comfort to millions of others who are struggling with similar issues. But the way she revealed it was pretty controversial. She said that she had been "groomed" by a 26-year-old man when she was just 14. She admitted, "It's child abuse really, isn't it." But later she revealed that she doesn't actually see herself as having suffered, at least on the same level as other women who have suffered child abuse, saying, "I don’t want to say I suffered, because I wanted it. I don’t want people to think I was abused but I was definitely more mature than I should have been at 14." She was attacked for her dismissive attitude towards child abuse, with people saying she belittled the issued that has an enormous impact on young girls and their families.
2 She's A Refugee
Another thing about Rita Ora that demands enormous respect is the fact that she's actually refugee. This is so relevant in today's political climate with the refugee crisis. She is basically living proof that refugees have real value and some of them are very talented and amazing people. Her family actually had to leave Kosovo (present day Yugoslavia) in the era of Slobodan Milosovic, the brutal dictator who was threatening to enact genocide on all of the ethnic Albanians in the country. Rita Ora is of course an Albanian, and so her family was forced to flee the country. Her family is actually an interesting example, because her father is Muslim and her mother is Catholic (although Rita isn't religious herself). The British government took the family "into care," helping them through this difficult time and they were able to lay down roots in England. This is yet another facet to Rita Ora's amazing rags to riches story.
1 Her Long-Standing Beef With Rihanna
If you asked people what the most entertaining thing about Rita Ora is, a lot of them would probably say it's her long-standing beef with Rihanna. These two girls do not like each other. To be fair, a lot of people hate on Rita Ora, so it's nothing new for her. But for Rihanna it's actually pretty rare for her to get all riled up and go after someone like she did against Rita Ora. Rihanna has accused Rita Ora of many things in the past, including copying her music and even mimicking her fashion sense. One thing that probably enraged Rihanna more than anything was Rita Ora's aforementioned collaboration with her ex, Chris Brown. Not only did she do a song with him, she also came out and said that his criminal past is no big deal to her. Remember this is the guy who allegedly punched Rihanna in the face, bit her, and gave her a black eye when they were together...
