If you’re a fan of The Walking Dead, you know Emily Kinney as Beth Greene, who was a sweet songbird of a character. She bit the dust in the mid-season five finale, causing many fans to have all the feels. This was a major loss in terms of the characters on the show, as Beth rounded out the group. In a group of Rick, Daryl, Michonne, and Carl – y’know, straight-up badass killers – Beth Greene was a softer addition. She reminded audiences that you could somehow survive the zombie apocalypse and still be… I don’t know, sweet, kind, caring, and an all-round adorable human being.
Since Beth kicked it, we no longer get to enjoy Beth Greene’s sweetness mixed with her teenage sass. (Ugh, because she would sometimes be a totally annoying teenager, right?) Oh, and possibly even more important, we no longer get to see Emily Kinney every Sunday night, which may be a huge let down for some fans since Kinney is smokin’ hot. Of course, the blonde-haired, wide-eyed beauty is doing just fine. She has since made appearances on acclaimed shows such as Master of Sex, The Knick, and Arrow. She’s also been busy with her singing career, because Emily Kinney can really sing, which fans saw a little bit of on The Walking Dead.
While Kinney’s blossoming career may be a great consolation for her, fans still miss Beth Greene. And, well, you’re about to miss her even more. Below are 15 smokin’ hot photos of Emily Kinney that will have you wishing for a Beth Greene resurrection.
9 This Is War
This photo of Emily Kinney is a far cry from Beth Greene... and it’s also super hot. I mean, girlfriend has an unbelievably toned bod and she's putting out some edgy rock and roll vibes - what could be hotter than that combination?
The above photo is from the This is War album, which was Emily Kinney’s debut album. It was released in 2015 to critical praise, with reviews commending the song writing. In one review, the album was called, “Whimsical, and with a fighting but gentle spirit.” I feel like that’s a way to describe this album or Beth Greene, am I right?
The album didn’t reach Lady Gaga levels of popularity, but to receive positive reviews for a debut album is still a good start to Kinney's musical career. Over on Emily Kinney’s Instagram account, you can find endless photos of her writing lyrics, recording music, and singing in live shows. So, we can probably expect more music from Emily Kinney… and more hot album photos if we're lucky.
8 Looking Hot In A T-Shirt
All true fans of The Walking Dead know that Emily Kinney should actually be wearing a moonshine tee shirt, but we’ll let that slide because Kinney looks hot in this tee. Also, her bright red lipstick looks great against her hair and skin tone. Of course, Kinney could never wear red lipstick on the show because of the whole zombie apocalypse thing. The fact that the female cast sports minimal makeup on the show is a testament to how hot they really are. Other shows would require the female stars to sit for hours of pre-shooting makeup. But, not The Walking Dead. Their female stars are mostly makeup-free. In fact, the only actors who receive hours of makeup are the extras who play zombies.
Oh, by the way, Emily Kinney is 31 years old. 31 YEARS OLD! Girlfriend can literally still pass for 18. Tell us your secrets, Emily Kinney.
Rocking That Bikini Bod
Let’s all thank Emily Kinney for snapping this super hot photo of her in a bikini, shall we? Girlfriend is just so petite. I mean, she’s very toned and thin, which may be one of the reasons that she can pass for an 18-year-old.
Emily Kinney’s first appearance on The Walking Dead came on season two, episode two. After Carl is shot (because he gets shot all the time and lives somehow), the group finds themselves on Hershel’s farm. By group, I mean the likes of Shane, Lori, Andrea, Dale, and Glenn – y’know, all characters who have since died. The only remaining characters who were on this episode are Rick, Carl, Daryl, Carol, and Maggie. For now, they all seem pretty safe. Rick, Carl, and Maggie are all still alive in the comic books and there hasn’t been reason to think that the show is going to majorly change their specific storylines. Meanwhile, Carol has long outlived her comic book character, but Robert Kirkman has basically said her character is safe on the show since he likes how the character developed. Daryl is just an invention of the show so we have absolutely no way of knowing what will happen to him, but due to his insane and passionate fan base, it seems he’s safe.
7 With That Old Hollywood Flair
While we've seen that she can be a rock and roll hottie, Emily Kinney can also be a sophisticated stunner. In this photo, Emily Kinney is rocking some serious Old Hollywood glamour. With her curled blonde hair and red lipstick, she’s reminiscent of Grace Kelly or Veronica Lake.
Let's all be honest, while Emily Kinney is totally lovable, Beth Greene wasn’t always a very likable character. After Hershel’s barn full of zombies was exposed, Beth suffered a bit of a nervous breakdown. She tried to kill herself and even tried to get Maggie to join her in a suicide pact. For a teenager who just watched her zombie mom be put down, this isn’t an insane reaction. In fact, some people would probably even argue that suicide is the sanest option in the case of a zombie apocalypse. However, Beth's suicide attempt didn’t play well with The Walking Dead audience. I mean, the point of the show is that it’s about a group of survivors who are willing to do anything to survive. Thankfully, Beth ended up evolving past her suicide attempt.
6 The New Face Of The Nikki Rich Line
No one is going to complain about a photo of Emily Kinney flashing her tight stomach, am I right? Her body is ripped, which makes it unfortunate that she didn’t get to rock any Rosita-esque outfits on The Walking Dead. On the show, Kinney's body was kept covered in long tank tops and jeans. Though, Kinney's TWD character was a teenager so it would have been a little weird to sexualize her. (But still, Emily Kinney has a hot bod.)
After blasting into fame with The Walking Dead, Emily Kinney was tapped to be the face of Nikki Rich’s Spring 2015 collection. The line is a mix of bohemian with a sexy edge. Of course, this bohemian, sexy flair is right up Kinney’s alley, as it’s how the songstress dressed most of the time anyway.
Emily Kinney Can Really Sing
There’s nothing hotter than someone doing what they love, which is why Emily Kinney looks so hot in this photo. Kinney clearly loves singing and is in her element when she's putting on a live show. The fact that she’s wearing the teeniest, tiniest shirt of all time also adds to the hot factor because teeny, tiny shirts always add an extra hot factor, especially when you have a toned stomach like Emily Kinney. She should maybe consider only wearing tiny crop tops from now on, just sayin’.
Throughout the course of season three, Emily Kinney’s Beth Greene developed into a much more likable character. She was no longer contemplating suicide. Instead, she learned how to defend herself and also helped out with the group. After Lori passed away in one of the grossest scenes ever to be on the show, Beth filled in as a caretaker for baby Judith. Beth was the #1 babysitter of the zombie apocalypse.
5 This Picture Makes You Want To Get In Bed
That bed looks really inviting, mostly because Emily Kinney makes it look really inviting. I’m sure a lot of dudes would really like to be that pillow. (Uh, keep dreaming, guys.)
Kinney’s Beth Greene didn’t have such a luxurious, comfortable, lounging-in-bed life on The Walking Dead. Nope, instead she had to watch her dad be decapitated by the Governor. That was rough for both Beth Greene and fans of the show. Hershel was a beloved character, who was wise and kind. He taught Rick how to be a better leader and how to plan for the future instead of just living day by day. Also, screw the Governor. He totally sucked. At least Negan has slightly discernible thought processes for his malicious acts. The Governor was basically a Looney Tune villain who was completely unstable after losing his daughter.
4 Reigning Selfie Queen
Emily Kinney loves talking selfies, not that we’re complaining. If anything, Emily Kinney should take more selfies because she’s such a stunner. Take selfies every day, Emily Kinney! We won't mind.
After the fall of the prison, Kinney’s Beth Greene ended up at Grady Memorial Hospital, which would, unfortunately, be where her story ended. While at the hospital, Beth showed how much her character had changed. She wasn’t overly trusting. Instead, she was observant of everything going on around her. She learned who would be allies and who would be enemies. She also never gave up on her hopes of escaping. This was a whole new Beth. She had grown tremendously from the scared, useless teenage girl we first met.
In the end, Beth died due to Officer Dawn’s seemingly accidental trigger finger. This was a real bummer to fans, who had to watch a likable character die simply from human error. Fans argued that Beth Greene’s story wasn’t done and even started a petition to bring back her character. Obviously, Beth didn’t come back and she’s never coming back. But, imagine people loving your character so much that they start a petition to bring you back. Sweet, right?
A Leather Jacket And Wind Machine
Do you feel like the wind machine was on way too high during this photoshoot? It looks like it was blasting full-speed at Emily Kinney. But, she still looks totally hot even though she's about to be blown away.
In an interview following Emily Kinney’s departure from The Walking Dead, showrunner Scott M. Gimple explained their reasoning for killing off Beth Greene by stating, “Losing this character is incredibly tragic, awful and painful. Not working with Emily is massively rough. I loved working with Emily. Why was it this character's time to go? We wanted to tell a story about a character that found out that she was strong all along. Whatever was thrown at her brought out that strength. In the end, someone who wanted to appear strong — a compromised person [Dawn], wound up taking her out, which is just a tragic story. It's not a fun story or a story we took lightly. Beth didn't die because she was weak; Beth died because she was strong, and that's painful, and it's not fun and it's not to be taken lightly — and we don't. A lot of things happen on this show that are tragic.”
I mean, at least the minds behind the show understood why everyone was so bummed out about Beth Greene’s death.
3 Honestly, How Is She 31?
How is Emily Kinney 31-years-old? She still looks like she could star in the next teen drama on The CW. But, that’s what’s hot about Emily Kinney. She has that sweet girl-next-door thing going for her, but she’s also a rock and roll kind of girl. She’s sweet and spicy. Also, like we said, Emily Kinney should take selfies all the time. She’s just really good at them. Of course, it’s easy to be good at selfies when you’re a hot girl.
After her departure from The Walking Dead, Kinney went on to appear in four episodes of Masters of Sex and three episodes of The Knick. In 2016, she starred in a Hallmark made for TV movie entitled Love on the Sidelines. Not that we want to be too judgmental about Hallmark made for TV movies, but let’s just say that this role was pretty different than her role in The Walking Dead. Hey, Emily Kinney, you’re better than Hallmark made for TV movies. Please, remember that.
Norman Reedus Is In Love
The jury is still out on whether Daryl Dixon romantically loved Beth Greene, but it seems pretty clear that Norman Reedus totally loves Emily Kinney. And, if Norman Reedus loves Emily Kinney that means we should all love Emily Kinney too.
The friendship between Daryl and Beth was definitely a slow start. While Daryl seems to have a thing for protecting younger, defenseless girls – from Sophia, to Beth, to Judith - he was clearly annoyed by Beth's suicide attempt, like much of the show's audience. It wasn’t until the group was at the prison that we finally saw some Beth and Daryl scenes. They were bonding, y'all!
After the fall of the prison, Beth and Daryl ended up together, which was when the fandom for a Beth and Daryl hook up began. The two drank moonshine and played Never Have I Ever. It was pretty adorable. While the creators of the show never confirmed if the Daryl and Beth feels were anything more than friendly, there are some die hard fans who still think they would have made a great couple, y'know if Beth didn't die.
2 But, Seriously...
Okay, we had to add one more picture of these two because... I mean, just look at them! There's totally love there, right? While Beth Greene and Daryl Dixon may not have hooked up, fans felt there was still hope for Emily Kinney and Norman Reedus, mostly because of pictures like this where it seems so very obvious that they are in love. In fact, people were all about this couple being a couple, even though Reedus is 17 years Kinney’s senior. Though, that’s really nothing in Hollywood. Unfortunately though, it seems that Reedus and Kinney hang out solely as friends. It’s been confirmed that the duo are not, in fact, a couple even though they look like the most in love couple ever in this picture.
With Beth Greene off the show, fans are hoping for a Carol/Daryl hook up. Quite frankly, fans are just hoping for Daryl to hook up with someone. The dude needs some love!
But, again, we'll add that if Norman Reedus loves Emily Kinney, we should all love Emily Kinney.
Rick Grimes Is Pissed About Beth Greene's Death
We’ll first address the fact that Emily Kinney is a total smokeshow in photo. Girlfriend is rocking some smoky eye makeup, which highlights her big, bright eyes. Her dress is also sneaky sexy, with a deep side cut exposing a lot of skin. Way to be with the sneaky sexy dress, Emily Kinney.
Now, onto the rest of the picture. Andrew Lincoln (aka Rick Grimes) is totally giving the middle finger because he’s mad about Emily Kinney being written off the show, right? I mean, there’s no way to confirm that or anything, but I like to think that Andrew Lincoln was just as bummed out about Kinney’s exit as the fanbase was.
With so many actors coming and going from the show, the cast has a tradition of throwing a Death Party whenever a character is killed off. It sounds super grim, but it’s just a little bash to celebrate the actor who was killed off of the show.
1 This Is War (Part 2)
Here’s another photo from Emily Kinney’s This is War album, which we included mostly just because she looks hot. Kinney looks like she’s your older sister’s hot friend and you’ve just caught them having a pillow fight. That happens in real life, right?
While people were royally bummed about Beth Greene’s death, they should have just been happy that her character existed on the television show. She was actually not a comic book character, meaning her character was a pure invention of the show. In the comic books, Hershel has a shit ton of kids. Like, just so many kids. Maggie is one of them and her television counterpart has basically followed the comic book character’s storylines. However, there is no daughter named Beth and all of Hershel’s other children die when the Governor attacks the prison. So, we should all just be thankful for the television Beth, who survived the prison attack.
That Girl-Next-Door Vibe
Like we’ve been saying, Emily Kinney is totally adorable, but can also bring the heat when she wants to. She's both a hot babe and a girl-next-door, putting her in a league with Anna Kendrick and Emma Stone. There’s really nothing hotter than the ability to be cute and hot.
In 2016, things were looking up, as Emily Kinney co-starred in ABC’s newest law drama Conviction. The show was cancelled and, quite frankly, didn’t look that great. While that’s unfortunate, we’re hopeful that Kinney will again find a role that fits her like the role of Beth Greene did. Plus, no one really thought Conviction was going to get a second season, right?
It’s been a few seasons since Beth Greene was killed off The Walking Dead. The tears have dried and all that, but we have to admit that we still miss Beth Greene and Emily Kinney. She brought a fresh, positive energy to a show that’s, uh, not too positive most of the time. Plus, Emily Kinney was totally adorable on a very ugly show.
