There's no doubt that Jennifer Aniston is one of the most gorgeous actresses to have ever graced our television screens. She frequently features in, and often tops, polls and surveys of the most attractive women in the industry. She's become a regular in FHM's "100 Sexiest Women" list since 1996, and has also been voted "Sexiest Woman of All Time" by the readers of Men's Health magazine. She even topped People's annual list of the "Most Beautiful Women" in 2016 - not bad for a 48 year old !
Believe it or not, Aniston nearly gave up on pursuing her dream of becoming a famous actress. After a string of failed TV shows in the early nineties she became depressed about her lack of success and was considering throwing in the towel for good. Thankfully for us, she stuck it out - and in 1994 she got her big break starring as Rachel Green in Friends. The show may have ended in 2004, but she has remained one of the most recognizable faces in Hollywood - probably more so than any of her former cast mates.
So, what better way to celebrate one of the most attractive women on the planet by taking a look at some of her hottest moments? If you need a little pick-me-up this holiday season here it is - 15 photos demonstrating why no Kardashian or Instagram model will ever hold a candle to the incredible Ms. Aniston.
15 Sultry in Stockings
The actress looks stunning in this photo taken for Vanity Fair. Who knew a white shirt and a pair of stockings could look so incredibly sexy?! No cheap gimmicks or heavy makeup needed - she's pulling off this look like nobody else could. Let's face it, we're in the age of Instagram obsession and lip fillers nowadays, so it's always super refreshing to see a more dialled back approach to looking fabulous... and you're definitely in the minority here if you don't agree that she looks freaking amazing!
With over two decades in the spotlight the star has proven she has the talent to fulfil a long-lasting career in Hollywood, and I'm sure her classic good looks haven't exactly held her back! She's definitely come a very long way since starring in the so-bad-it's-almost-good Leprechaun movie of 1994, though I wouldn't blame you if you haven't got round to seeing her in that yet...
14 Lady In Leather
There aren't many women who could pull a look like this off, but the actress looks incredible. Leather may be a seriously unforgiving material when it's this tight, but Jen shows she has the figure to rock any kind of dress. She's definitely not all good looks and no brains though; far from it. She's a savvy businesswoman with a wide range of endorsements under her belt, a hair-care brand she co-owned, and six perfume ranges under her belt.
Though the majority of her success may have come relatively later in life compared to some, there's good reason for this; the actress had undiagnosed dyslexia which effected her education and self-confidence at school. She was finally diagnosed in her 20s, something that came as a huge relief; she said on the subject: "I thought I wasn't smart. I just couldn't retain anything. Now I had this great discovery. I felt like all of my childhood trauma-dies, tragedies, dramas were explained.
13 Best Maid Ever?
Here's a still taken from the 2006 movie Friends With Money. It may not be one of Aniston's better known performances, but it's surely worth checking out if only to marvel at this scene where she dresses as a sexy French maid in order to seduce a guy. Unfortunately, it didn't do the trick - pretty unrealistic if you ask me!
The actress had just broken up with Vince Vaughn when this movie came out - bet he was gutted when he saw his former lover in this amazing get-up! The couple did seem a little mis-matched, but then again she did also date Tate Donovan for three years in the late 90s. Her questionable taste in men came to light again in 2008 when she ended up dating musician John Mayer for a year, but he reportedly broke it off because he couldn't handle the attention their relationship brought him. His loss, right?
12 Pretty in Purple
The actress looks ultra feminine in this shot - particularly with the cute floral blouse and classic Daisy Dukes. Who wouldn't want to spend some time swinging away next to her?
Despite her natural good looks, the actress hasn't always felt good in her own skin. She said in an interview with HuffPo in 2015: "When I was younger, I think I took a lot for granted and would beat myself up over things that were unnecessary. Now it's like, whatever state I'm in, whatever shape my body's in [works for me]. I think you just have to really appreciate that this is what's beautiful, this is you!"
As surprising as it is that someone as beautiful as Jennifer Aniston could ever be self conscious, I have to admit it's also a little reassuring for those of us who don't look like movie stars!
11 Legs for Days
The actress shows off her long and lean limbs in this stunning photo. As you might expect of any high-profile actress, Jen makes sure she stays in great shape through a combination of exercise and a sensible diet. She said in an interview with Huffington Post:
"I eat really well and I work out, but I also indulge when I want to. I don’t starve myself in an extremist way," she said. "You’re not taking away my coffee or my dairy or my glass of wine because I’d be devastated. My advice: just stop eating shit every day.”
Pretty solid advice! If you're wondering exactly what her version of eating well looks like, she starts the day with hot water and lemon, then has oats or toast, and lunch and dinner she keeps super simple with just vegetables and protein. Not the most exciting diet, but I imagine it's worth it to look as amazing as she does!
10 Red Carpet Ready
Here's the actress looking every inch the A-list movie star while working a red carpet. Aniston has always had a great sense of style, and often tops 'best dressed' lists and polls. It's hardly surprising that many women aspire to have the same glamorous look that she does, but what is a little shocking is that plenty of females go under the knife in order to look more like the actress.
In fact, a 2011 report from The Daily Telegraph noted that she was in the top three for most sought after body shape, alongside Penélope Cruz and Gisele Bündchen. Top Hollywood plastic surgeons revealed that their patients often take photos of the actress into the clinic as a reference point for their ideal figure. Seems pretty drastic - might be an idea to give her diet tips a go first!
9 Natural Beauty
As this beautiful shot shows, Jen looks equally good in a more natural look as she does all glammed up... how many Hollywood actresses can say that nowadays?! Maybe it's just me, but she doesn't seem like someone who's really high maintenance, either - she definitely gives the impression of being easy-going and a jeans and t-shirt kind of girl when she's on her downtime. You definitely won't see her pouting up a storm on Instagram any time soon... for one thing, she doesn't actually have an account, pretty rare for a Hollywood star these days it would seem!
As well as trying to keep a low profile while she's not working, the actress also says that therapy helps her live a drama-free life. She said in an interview with Glamour magazine in 2012: "Go to therapy. Clean up all of the s--t. Clean up all of the toxins and the noise. Understand who you are. Educate yourself on the self."
8 In Her Birthday Suit
Jen posed for this photo for GQ magazine back in January 2009, though let's face it, she hasn't exactly changed much since then! With just a very strategically placed tie to cover her modesty, this is a pretty daring shot - I bet those male models weren't complaining though... not a bad day's work, is it?
The actress was just about to tick over into her 40s when this was taken, though you'd never guess from her amazing physique displayed in the picture. Surprisingly, Aniston has said that she feels much more confident in her body now than she did in her younger days, as well as feeling more positive about life in general.
She told Glamour in a 2011 interview: "Being this side of 40 feels like what I should have felt being this side of 25: in my body, in my heart, happy with my life, and OK with whatever bumps in the road present themselves."
7 Cheeky Throwback
This image was used on the front cover of Rolling Stone magazine way back in 1996, just as the actress was becoming more well-known for her role in that sitcom. It would be another couple of years until she would meet fellow actor Brad Pitt, and they would go on to become one of the most famous Hollywood couples of all time, after getting hitched in a lavish $1 million wedding in Malibu in 2000.
Of course, we all know how that turned out... sadly the couple called it quits after five years, after Pitt began a relationship with Angelina Jolie, who he had been working with at the time. Jolie announced that she was pregnant in January 2006, which must have been a pretty big shock for Aniston. I can't help but wonder what was running through her mind when Jolie filed for divorce from her ex in September 2016...
6 Everyone's Favorite
For many of us, the actress will always hold a special place in our heart thanks to her role as Rachel Green in Friends. If whiny but loveable Rachel was one of your first TV crushes, you're definitely not alone, and it probably helped that the set where it was filmed always seemed a bit chilly !
For girls, the Rachel Green haircut that Aniston had to wear for the first two seasons of the show became a firm favorite, although the actress herself actually hated the style. One thing you might not have known was that Jen was rumoured to have been dating her former cast mate Matthew Perry for a while in 2006, but since neither of them have given a definite answer on that, I guess we'll never know the truth! She has remained good friends with her two female cast mates Courteney Cox and Lisa Kudrow though; she even babysits for Cox from time to time!
5 As You've Never Seen Her Before
If you were ever curious about exactly how Jennifer Aniston would look as a dancer, here's one for you. The actress took on the role of Rose O'Malley in the 2013 comedy We're The Millers, quite a departure from the usual characters she plays. She said at the time that she made sure she was in great shape before filming, and also insisted on extra precautions to make sure everything was secure in the skimpy outfit!
She later told Access Hollywood: "That was some major strapping and organising. I had no taping. I really just doubled my bras. I had a thong and then two pairs of underwear. Why I thought that was going to help protect anything is beyond me.
"Because, that's just like ridiculous... I was like, 'No, I need three bras! I need three bras because God forbid that one, if it's gonna escape.'"
4 Elegant As Usual
The actress looks every inch the Hollywood movie star in this plunging sequinned dress. Plus, as if you needed any more proof that she's the whole package, she also has a solid history of getting involved with good causes. She's donated time and money to great charities and organizations like St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Bear Necessities Pediatric Cancer Foundation, Feeding America, and Habitat For Humanity over the years, and her and husband Justin Theroux donated to the Best Friends Animal Society on behalf of their friends at Christmas.
She was given the GLAAD Vanguard award in 2007 for her contributions to help the LGBT community, an award that seeks to honour those who have made an outstanding effort to promote gay rights, and has previously been awarded to Cher and Liza Minnelli.
In 2010 she also donated $500,000 to the relief efforts following the Haiti earthquake, and she also forked out $450,000 for a piece of art in a 2011 charity auction set up to offer continued support for those affected by the disaster.
3 Her Raunchiest Role
If you were surprised by her role in We're The Millers, chances are you were definitely taken aback when she appeared as a s*x-pest doctor in the Horrible Bosses movies! The actress clearly relished the chance to play a more outrageous character though, telling Collider: "I find it extremely entertaining, the way she speaks, because I don't really think that she thinks that she's saying anything inappropriate!"
While the majority of her roles so far have been comedic, the actress hasn't shied away from taking on more serious parts, such as 2014's Cake, and The Yellow Birds, a war drama that came out at the beginning of the year. She's also set to star in a so far untitled TV drama based around a morning TV show in New York, alongside her friend Reese Witherspoon, so it will be much easier to get a regular fix of the gorgeous star.
2 A Perfect Shape
Here's another stunning image from her shoot for Vanity Fair, because why not?! She looks very pensive in this one, but still as beautiful as ever. The actress has definitely proven she has a more thoughtful side, and has often spoke about her own struggles with lack of self-esteem and wanting to be the best version of herself possible.
While attending the Giffoni Film Festival she told one interviewer:
"We're all human beings at the end of the day, whether we're a waitress or a baker or a student or whatever we are, at the end of the day you kind of can hit walls and think I can't go any farther. Or this is too much. My heart can't take it or the pain is too great, or am I good enough? Will I survive? And you just have to sort of somehow miraculously overcome. You just go, ‘I can't, yes I can, yes you can.'"
1 Biker Chick
The actress has been in a relationship with fellow actor Justin Theroux for six years, and the couple married in 2015 at their $22 million Bel-Air mansion. There's recently been rumours that their marriage is on the rocks, with some sources stating their busy work schedules are causing distance between them.
However, even if those reports do turn out to be true, it's safe to say Jen will be just fine. As she eloquently explained in a 2016 essay for the Huffington Post, she doesn't need a partner to make her feel whole: "We are complete with or without a mate, with or without a child. We get to decide for ourselves what is beautiful when it comes to our bodies....We don’t need to be married or mothers to be complete. We get to determine our own “happily ever after” for ourselves."
