If you are a fan of cosplay, then you know how people love their costumed comic book or film characters. At a comic convention or any other gathering where you expect to find cosplayers, you would be impressed by how good people are at dressing up as superheroes and villains alike, with some making their costumes even more magnificent than the original costumes we are used to. Some people have turned cosplay into a career, making so much money from what an inexperienced observer would assume is a very easy job.
You don’t need anyone telling you how extremely sexy female superheroes and villains costumes are, perhaps because men are the original designers of most of these characters' costumes. One would assume female designers would probably want to cover up their characters just as is the case with male heroes and villains, but that is a debate for another day. Therefore, some women have reported cases of harassment and stereotyping whenever they wear their favorite characters costumes, which is truly unfair.
In recent times, more women cosplayers are wearing costumes of male characters, and they end up looking hotter than the male actors who play those roles. Dressing up as characters of the opposite sex is called crossplay and it continues to catch on. Since women cosplayers are dressing up as male characters, are male cosplayers dressing up as women characters? Yes of course, they are. The only problem is women look so hot in their costumes and a man dressing up as a woman looks different, and not in a great way.
Here are male cosplayers dressed as female characters. Which of these would you say has pulled off the look?
Of all other cosplayers on this list, no one seems as convincing as this one, because he doesn't even appear to be in a woman's costume. This is truly a male version of Storm, one of the toughest members and occasional leaders of the X-Men, whose greatest power is her ability to control the weather.
One of the reasons for the successful depiction of the character is how the costume appears to be unisex, so a man wearing this wouldn't look awkward. In addition, although all the characters portraying Storm have always been hot, it has never been the intention of the wardrobe to make her overly sexy.
This man's hair looks natural to some extent since you would expect any old man to have gray hair. This costume looks like something superheroes such as Superman, the Green Lantern, and others would wear, with the only differences being the colors and the cape.
14 Poison Ivy
Everyone knows Poison Ivy is a supervillain, but when you think about why she commits the crimes she does, we shouldn't judge her as we do. Poison Ivy, whose alter ego is a botanist in Gotham called Pamela Lillian Isley, is obsessed with environmentalism, ecological extinction, and plants.
When you think about how industries and other human activities have destroyed the environment, you cannot help but hope we had a few people with Poison Ivy's abilities to keep us in check. However, we consider her a villain because of the methods she used to fight for her cause, including the use of mind-control pheromones, plant toxins, and even plants to commit crimes.
Over the years, this character has gone through numerous outfit changes, but the general idea behind it has always been a green outfit with leaves and vines. This cosplayer is called Tom Catt. He has the right color of costume and the accessories are on point. However, since the real Poison Ivy is one of the hottest women in comics, Tom here doesn't fall into the category of hot women since he is obviously a man.
Are you also wondering why this cosplayer, who is supposed to be Supergirl, is posing for this photo in the men's bathroom? We can assume he was too embarrassed to come to whichever cosplay event he's at, having already worn his costume, so he came to change in the bathroom. Judging by the ring on his left hand's ring finger, this guy is married, so probably his wife didn't know he would be dressing up as Supergirl. I'm sure she's pretty shocked now!
His straight face, hairy legs, and the tattoo on his right arm are probably the things that make this image hilarious because he didn't try to look like the cute girl we know Supergirl is. He could have chosen to wear Superman's costume, but that wouldn't have been as epic as this image is. He must have worn this costume just for fun and to make other people laugh, a mission he accomplished so well.
12 Scarlet Witch And Psylocke
If you were having a bad day and then came across this image of these two guys posted by Lady Saika, your mood would surely change, at least for as long as their image is stuck in your mind. These two guys on the ends are dressed up as Scarlet Witch and Psylocke, two extremely powerful Marvel characters. We have seen Scarlet Witch in some of the Avengers films and Psylocke in at least two X-Men films.
What truly stands out about these cosplayers' portrayal of the characters is how much fun they are having, which is priceless. These two men look nothing like the characters, and the great thing is they know that, but they won't let such knowledge stop them from having fun.
Scarlet Witch and Psylocke are extremely sexy characters, and looking at their images or the female cosplayers who dress up like them is enough evidence of just how hot they are. These are the best guys to play the roles of Scarlet Witch and Psylocke if anyone wanted to make a parody of any of the films these two have been part of.
11 Rogue And Jean Grey
If you are a fan of the X-Men, you would never confuse these cosplayers with the real Rogue and Jean Grey, because apart from their costumes, they look nothing like the characters. First, these guys are too huge to look anything like the slim and hot characters they are dressed up as, and second, these are men and their characters are young and beautiful ladies.
However, these men seem as if they won't let anything get in the way of portraying their favorite female superheroes, and we congratulate them for that. When you think about it, someone who does not know Rogue and Jean would never see why we are fussing over this image posted by imzadi1234, because these two have owned this look.
These guys make us forget how terrifying Jean was when she was the Dark Phoenix, and what would result if Rogue touched or simply kissed you. These guys have made Jean and Rogue fun and even more exciting than the ones in the comics or films are.
10 Princess Leia Organa
If you are a fan of Star Wars, you don't need anyone telling you these cosplayers are dressed as Princess Leia Organa and Han Solo, although something is a bit off. Of course, Princess Leia is supposed to be a woman, and Han Solo is supposed to be a man, but these two have crossed their genders.
This is a great example of crossplay, cross-gender cosplay. Our focus here is the male Princess Leia, who doesn't even come close to how hot the female princess Leia is, for obvious reasons of course. In the movies, Carrie Fisher plays the role of Leia, and she does it so well and has done it for so long it would be difficult to imagine anyone else playing this role.
People refer to the costume this cosplayer is wearing as Princess Leia's metal bikini, which Fisher wore in Return of the Jedi in 1983 as a slave. Although men have never looked good in bikinis, his portrayal of the character is outstanding.
9 Emma Frost
Emma Frost is one of the X-Men, who started out as a villain in Magneto's team but changed into a superhero and one of the key members and even leaders of the X-Men. She has super telepathic abilities and often transforms into an organic diamond state with super strength and durability.
In her diamond state, other telepaths cannot read her mind, and her own telepathy is suppressed as well. One of her most powerful moments was when she was part of the Phoenix Five who went against the Avengers Academy, a point at which she hosted the Phoenix Force.
On the other hand, the Emma Frost here in this image is very different from the one we are used to. Although he has the colors, the X-Men logo, and the shoes right, so much more seems a bit off. Being a man, he has sure done a great job portraying this character, since if the character was male, there is no doubt he would look exactly like this cosplayer.
8 Lara Croft
To some people, this image might simply be of a guy going out hunting in the woods, with his choice of weapons seeming a bit outdated. However, for someone who is a fan of Tomb Raider, this is probably one of the best male depictions of Lara Croft. Lara Croft is originally the main protagonist in the action-adventure British video game series, which first hit the market in October 1996.
Angelina Jolie's portrayal of this character in the film adaptation was great, but Isaac Cabrera's (or Tom Braider) here, has Lara's traditional costume spot on. Apparently, dressing up as Lara Croft is a big thing, since the character holds the Guinness World Record for having the most official real-life stand-ins. Also, since June 2016, the character has featured on more than 1,100 magazine covers, appearances no supermodel would match up to.
This fictional character is athletic, intelligent, and is in every way extremely beautiful. She is an English archeologist who goes into dangerous tombs and ruins, protecting ancient artifacts from thieves and illegal raiders.
7 Harley Quinn
It's safe to claim no other character has truly pulled off Harley Quinn's role as Margot Robbie did in the 2016 film Suicide Squad since she was arguably the best character in the film overall. Although other female cosplayers have come extremely close to Margot's portrayal, we have to give it up to this male cosplayer called Chris Villain for the effort he put and the amazing result we see. His attitude in the picture is arguably the most convincing aspect of his portrayal of the character, who he refers to as Charley Quinn.
Harley, who is a fictional supervillain, first appeared in the September 1992 issue of Batman: The Animated Series, and has since been the Joker's accomplice and love interest, making her Batman's enemy. She wasn't always the crazy woman we see on screen or read about in the comics since she first appeared on the scene as a psychologist in Arkham Asylum, whose interaction with the Joker turned her into the villain we love today.
6 Wonder Woman
Are you those people who thought the film Wonder Woman released on June 2 was one of the best DC Extended Universe films to hit the big screens or, the ones who believe it needed more action and less talk? Regardless of what you thought about it, this was a great movie, especially since it's a DC movie, and it was the first time we saw Wonder Woman in a solo film. Her appearance in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice made us hunger for this film, and it sure impressed most of us.
One of the best things about this Wonder Woman was the woman playing the role. Gal Gadot's fighting was outstanding, her acting was great, and she is undoubtedly so hot and totally deserved the part. However, we cannot say the same thing about these guys, especially the first one. The guy in the middle is arguably the best male version of this character, and the one on the right is a close second.
If you were to come up with a list of the hottest characters in DC, you would definitely have Catwoman appearing very high on the list. She first appeared in the 1940 spring issue of Batman #1, as the cat, a villain who has a complex relationship with Batman to date.
All the people who have played this character to date have met this criterion since, in addition to fighting on whatever side she chooses, she usually catches Batman's eye and uses his feelings for her against him. Although you might be angry at Batman for falling for a woman who has never truly crossed over to the good side, no man on the planet would have the self-control to resist her, because she is too hot.
This Catwoman, on the other hand, is nothing like the Catwoman we are used to in comics, TV series, and films, despite having the costume right. This guy has gone beyond what we would expect a male version of the character to look like, especially looking at his pose. But he is just not Catwoman.
Mystique is without a doubt one of the most interesting and eye-catching characters, since no other mutant has anything close to her powers, and her costume, or lack of one, is, to say the least, breathtaking. Mystique is a shapeshifter with the ability to transform and appear as well as sound like any other individual on the planet flawlessly. Naturally, she appears to have blue skin and her eyes are yellow.
It used to take almost eight hours for Jennifer Lawrence to get into her costume, most of which was just paint and what appeared as scales. Now, the process is now down to at least three hours, because they only get to paint her face, since the paint used to react with her body.
The professionals who painted this cosplayer did an amazing job, since he is all blue with red hair, except he is missing the scales she usually has. It would be super awkward for a man to play the role of Mystique since no one wants to see his genitals; thankfully, this guy is covering himself with his hands.
3 Black Widow
Black Widow, or Natasha Romanova, is our favorite female Avenger, who used to be the only girl in the team until the recent inclusion of Scarlet Witch, according to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Even if you don't know much about her history, her name sounds Russian, which she is, and first appeared in the April 1964 issue of Tales of Suspense #52, and used to be Iron Man's enemy.
When she joined S.H.I.E.L.D, she became a superhero and joined the Avengers, the role we are most familiar with, played by the beautiful Scarlett Johansson. We love seeing her fight the bad guys and the aliens, with some of her skills being her prowess in martial arts, ability to perform complex aerial maneuvers, espionage training, and training in the use of specialized weapons.
Since her costume's design isn't specifically for a woman, this cosplayer seems to be quite comfortable in it. However, this image by Ottawa Geek Market is evidence Scarlett is the best pick for the role of Black Widow in every way.
Unlike most of the other characters on this list who belong to successful and long running film franchises, Maleficent was a single dark fantasy film starring Angelina Jolie released in 2014. This was one of the most successful films in 2014, grossing in excess of $758 million the world over, the fourth highest earning film that year. Audiences loved and related with Maleficent so much, owing to the similarities the film had with the Sleeping Beauty fairy tale and its 1959 animated film.
Although the film received an Academy Award nomination for Best Costume Design but didn't win, the wearers of the costumes probably mattered even more. I wonder if this guy, Lazuli & Lapis Cosplay, played the role of Maleficent the movie would have gotten the nomination. Regardless, he looks great in it, and no one would think the costume was made for a woman. Since this costume doesn't look like the exact replica of what Jolie wore, this cosplayer can star in his own film and look great in it.
1 Black Canary
If you hadn't already seen the title, would you have known who this cosplayer was trying to portray? Black Canary is one of DC's hottest and earliest female super heroes, who first came to the scene in Flash Comics, but is usually paired with the Green Arrow, who is her professional and romantic partner.
At first, Black Canary was just a hand-to-hand fighter, with a superb ability to infiltrate criminal organizations and bring them to justice. In recent times, she has a superpower in the form of a Canary Cry, an extremely high-powered scream with the ability to shatter objects and incapacitate enemies.
Although this cosplayer by doctorderanged has the hair and the costume to match Black Canary's, he probably wouldn't be a good fit to play the role as we know it today. We already know this character to be a hot young woman, but a version with this guy would still be interesting.
