Celebrity break-ups and divorces are a dime a dozen in Hollywood. We regularly see famous people jump from relationship to relationship, or even from marriage to marriage. Someone else who may be left gasping in surprise are the men on the list below. Although even they themselves may not expect their relationships to last forever, we assume some of them were still very surprised to see that their ex-partners had moved on with other women. It is claimed Sykes parents did not attend the wedding but that they have managed to reconcile somewhat since this point.

7 Anne Heche

Actress Anne Heche was in a loving and committed relationship with comedian Steve Martin during the mid to late 90s. This all changed in 1997 when Heche met Ellen DeGeneres at a Vanity Fair party in 1997. Just one week later the star dumped Martin and began a relationship with DeGeneres. Heche stated at the time that she had never before been in a relationship with a woman. At the time the couple even stated that they would consider getting a civil union if it became legal. Over the next three years the relationship between the two became hugely publicized, however, they eventually split in 2000. DeGeneres later stated: “The breakup was the worst, most awful event in my life. I thought we were going to grow old together and we'd be there for each other for the rest of our lives…I started to feel like Anne's mother, not her lover.” It is also thought that the wide media coverage the relationship gained is a reason that it fell apart. Heche later went on to marry Coleman "Coley" Laffoon a cameraman that she was first introduced to while he was working on DeGeneres’ stand up tour. The pair had a son Homer, born in 2002, but divorced in 2007. It is rumored that Heche left her husband for her Men in Trees co-star James Tupper, as the pair moved in together in 2007. In late 2008 it was confirmed that Heche was pregnant with her second child, and her first with Tupper.

Anne Heche is not the only famous woman on our list to move on with Ellen DeGeneres after leaving their male partner. Actress Portia de Rossi separated from her husband Mel Metcalfe in 1999, after it was revealed he had been having an affair with de Rossi’s brother’s wife. Ouch! In the years that followed, the Australian star admitted that one of the reasons she married Metcalfe was that she hoped to gain a green card in order to remain in the United States and make a name for herself as an actress. It’s possible the reason Metcalfe had the affair is simply due to the fact that de Rossi was not attracted to him. The star once stated: "By the end of our first year together, despite my desire to be attracted to him, my latent fear of my real sexuality was simmering and about to boil." A few years after at a 2004 awards show de Rossi was introduced to DeGeneres and the pair began dating. Four years later, in 2008, the pair were married and have been together ever since. 2 Amber Heard

It’s common knowledge at this stage that actress Amber Heard had a very messy and highly publicized separation from Johnny Depp last year. On May 23, 2016, Heard filed for divorce from Depp whom she had been in a three-year relationship with. Just five days before filing for divorce, Heard had also applied for a temporary restraining order against Depp due to claims he had been “verbally and physically” abusive. Many believe that Heard’s bisexuality may have played a big role in the crumbling of the couple’s marriage. It is alleged that Depp believed something was going on between his wife and photographer iO Tillett Wright. Reports claim that things reached almost breaking point when Heard moved Wright into the guesthouse of the home she shared with Depp. It is not known if there is any truth to these rumors but many believe that Heard’s bisexuality made Depp suspicions of any girl she had a friendship with. It didn’t help when rumors surfaced that Heard was involved with Model Maria de Villepin, and her ex-girlfriend Tasya van Ree, during her relationship with Depp.

1 Lauren Morelli

The final place on our list goes to Orange is the New Black writer Lauren Morelli, who filed for divorce from her husband of two years, Steve Basilone, in 2014. Morelli had dated Basilone for four years before they married, but her feelings for him changed completely when she realized that she identified with many of the gay women in the show she was writing for. Anyone familiar with Orange is the New Black will know that many of the characters on the show are gay women. After filing for divorce, Morelli embarked on a romance with Orange is the New Black star Samira Wiley, who plays the part of Poussey Washington on the show. The pair officially came out as a couple at the 2015 Emmy Awards where they were seen walking hand in hand. On October 4th 2016, Morelli publicly announced her engagement to Wiley.
