15 Dumbest Celeb Halloween Costumes That Make Us Cringe

Every day, celebrities are surprising us with their outrageous antics. They show us exactly what it means to express something and then completely shock us, whether it be an event that happens during their daily lives or the crazy stunts they pull to gain our attention. Take for example the festive holiday known as Halloween. People, especially celebrities, love to express themselves with costumes. For many people, it's a time to be someone else for a change, if only for a day.

It's this time of year that can really bring out the crazies, and we never really consider the fact that celebrities like to joke and have a good time during this spooky time of the year. But sometimes certain celebrities take it just a bit too far. Whether it be Hilary Duff or John Legend, the possible offence that celebrities can create with their costumes has come from many famous people. But what makes these costumes so terrible and offensive? Is it because they are celebrities and people just need something to talk about or someone famous to pick on? Perhaps, but most of the time people's hurt over what celebrities wear is expressed through social media in a very demanding way and most of the time, celebrities end up apologizing for their actions later on. Listed here are some pictures of celebrities doing Halloween so, so wrong. Some of them wanted to make a point while others were just trying to be funny. 15 Scott Disick Dressed Up As An Arab Sheikh

via: tribunnews.com

When you first look at this photo, it's probably not immediately apparent just who this is. If the name didn't give it away, try to remember the man who Kourtney Kardashian was with for so long. After you have that picture in your mind, you will probably remember. Scott Disick has become quite popular lately with talk of his relationship with Sofia Richie and with good reason. The split between Kourtney and Scott was a huge deal in 2015.

However, in 2014 it was apparent that Scott's sense of humor obviously didn't come through on Halloween, as many were offended that he dressed up like an Arab Sheikh, leading a great deal of people to believe that he looks upon the Arab culture in a very stereotypical way. But honestly, what was he thinking? Obviously he wasn't thinking at all, and if his intention was to make an impression or a specific point, no one was listening, even on social media. Should something like this really be joked about?

14 Jason Walsh And Hilary Duff

via: The Cut

In 2016, Jason Walsh and Hilary Duff spent some time at the Casamigos Halloween party. A lot of people were dressed up that night. But the couple left a very striking impression on those who saw their costumes. Walsh showed up wearing a stereotypical Native American costume while Duff was sporting a leggy Pilgrim outfit. At first, it was obvious what the couple was trying to convey, and while certain jokes may be funny, this was definitely not a joke to be taken lightly, considering the history of the United States. Because of the way Native Americans were abused so long ago, many people looked at their costumes as offensive and horrible. Later on, Duff tweeted an apologetic response to alleviate any confusion by saying, "I am SO sorry to people I offended with my costume. It was not properly thought through and I am truly, from the bottom of my [heart emoji] sorry."

13 Heidi Klum As Kali

via Today Show

In 2008, Heidi Klum held her 9th annual Halloween party. Klum has been known for dressing as some very interesting characters, but the costume she dressed up in just a few years ago really threw everyone for a loop. As she walked out in front of the cameras she donned multiple blue arms jutting out from her back, her entire skin was blue, and she wore a necklace of skulls. One of the arms was even holding a head, which was fake, of course. It was obvious that year that Klum was dressed as the Hindu goddess Kali. While many Americans probably thought this costume was very good and well-executed, many religious leaders didn't think so, especially those who believe in the Hindu faith. Many called it disrespectful and uncalled for. There was no doubt that the costume was well put together, but it seems this time it was simply for the wrong reasons.

12 John Legend And Chrissy Teigen

via: si.com

Here is another occurrence involving offensive stereotypes in 2008. The famous couple John Legend and Chrissy Teigen decided to show everyone their costumes with pride. Unfortunately, it was what many consider to be very offensive and distasteful costume. In today's world, it's practically impossible to wear a Native American Halloween costume and not be judged for doing so. It wasn't okay in 2008 either when Legend and Teigen tried to pull off "Cowboys and Indians." Nowadays, everyone knows that the term "Indians" is not accurate and well-representative of the vast array of Native American cultures. They are not Indian; they are native to America. But from the looks of it, this power couple certainly didn't refrain from showing what they think. Perhaps it wasn't their intention to display such offence to Native Americans and their struggle with the United States, but regardless, this doesn't take away from the fact that dressing up as "Cowboys and Indians" really isn't the right thing to do anymore.

11 Jeff Ross Takes It Way Too Far

via: The Big Lead

Jeff Ross is a well-known stand up comedian. He is known for some very famous acts, but one thing that didn't play well with others was one of his Halloween costumes. A while after the s*xual abuse situation that occurred at Penn State, the comedian thought it was a good idea to dress up as the head football coach along with two shirtless football players in towels. Ross may have gone a little too far, even for him. While there were those who thought his costume was hilarious, there were many who didn't find it quite as amusing. But how far can one person go when it comes to making fun of such a serious abuse case? It didn't seem right that a comedian was portraying such a terrible situation as comedy. Perhaps the most important people to consider here were the victims. One can only imagine what they were thinking when they saw Jeff Ross and his company.

10 Jason Aldean Dressed As Lil Wayne

via: TMZ.com

In 2015, the famous country singer Jason Aldean was spotted in public dressed as the notorious rapper Lil Wayne. This is technically not a character from a TV show or any other type of on-screen performance. It's a real person that Aldean thought would be funny to dress up as. While most people saw the humor, those who are against blackface certainly did not. Perhaps we are all a little too offended by what is meant to be a joke? Unfortunately, for those in the black community, seeing something like this is surely hurtful and possibly offensive. Eleven months after he had dressed up, Aldean commented that he didn't see what the big deal was. However, he had said himself that it was never meant to be offensive and if it was, he apologized for it. He also said that it doesn't matter what you do. We live in an age where people are going to say something no matter what.

9 Lily Allen Dressed As Alleged Abuser Dr. Luke

via: X17 Online

It seems that a lot of offensive costumes came out of 2015. However, 2014 served as a reminder of just how terrible costumes could be, as well. Take for example Lily Allen, a famous British singer who decided to dress up as Dr. Luke for Kate Hudson's Halloween bash. This wouldn't have been a problem... except for the fact that Kesha was going through a trial due to a s*xual assault case that involved Dr. Luke. Many fans thought that the outfit might have been a kick in Kesha's face. She donned a doctor's outfit with medical equipment around her neck, and flashy shoes. What really gave away her representation of Dr. Luke was the name tag attached on the right, not to mention the title that was under the name which read gynaecology department. It was considered disrespectful and offended many of Kesha's fans but Lily didn't bat an eye. She kept walking forward into the party as people stared in amazement.

8 Julianne Hough Painted Black

via: E! Online

Just a few years ago, many people probably remember what Julianne Hough decided to dress up as for Halloween. She probably wasn't trying to stir anything up, but who knows. You never really know what someone's true intentions are, especially in the entertainment business. However, Hough probably wasn't thinking at all whenever she dressed up like Crazy Eyes from the very popular Netflix series Orange Is the New Black. For those of you who don't know who Crazy Eyes is, there is one very obvious difference between Hough and the character. Mainly, Crazy Eyes is black. So, naturally, Hough bronzed her face and made herself look as black as possible. Considering that racial issues are continuing to pop up, it wasn't the smartest move on the part of the Dancing With the Stars judge. Perhaps one day we will learn her true intentions and why such a famous actress didn't consider the possibility of this costume going sideways.

7 Ashley Benson Dressed As Cecil The Lion

via: US Weekly

Ashley Benson, who has starred in quite a few shows and movies, is best known for her role as Hanna Marin on the very popular TV show Pretty Little Liars. The show has had amazing success over the years, bringing in millions of viewers. However, when a picture was posted to her Instagram page with the caption, "Help! Can't decide on my Halloween costume this year! What do you guys thing of this Cecil the Lion costume?" people were not happy at all. We all know about the tragedy of Cecil, the unfortunate killing of a thirteen-year-old lion in Zimbabwe. The story flooded headlines and Benson's picture sparked an almost equal flood of rage. However, when the singer learned of what was posted, she corrected the caption, letting everyone know that Cecil was never meant to be a part of the caption. She apologized with great detail and assured her fans that it was an honest mistake.

6 Chris Brown As A "Terrorist"

via: Asiantown.NET

In 2012, the famous singer/songwriter Chris Brown thought it was a good idea to dress as an Islamic terrorist for Halloween. Obviously this was a terrible choice for a Halloween costume, given the history and circumstances the United States has faced over the years. He posted a picture to his Instagram page with his friends dressed up in more terrorist outfits, posing by a silver car. Under the photo, the caption read, "Ain't nobody f*****g wit my clique!!!! #ohb." There are so many things that can be said about this costume, but the one question that was asked so much was, "Why?" According to many people, Halloween is a fun holiday not to be taken seriously due to the weird and funny costumes that pop up throughout the night. However, dressing up as a terrorist takes joking to a level we never want to reach. Brown's mom commented online saying, "Halloween is for fun, nothing more than just fun. Get a life, please."

5 Harry Hamlin's Awful Swastika Shirt

via: WetPaint

Harry Hamlin and Lisa Rinna decided to sport some very interesting costumes for a Halloween party in 2015. The outfits were meant to be those of Sid Vicious and his girlfriend Nancy Spungen. While they got the costumes right, they might have been a little too good at showing off their outfits. Many people took to the internet with comments and concerns about the swastika that was printed on Harry's shirt. People started accusing the couple. However, later, Lisa released a photo on Instagram, apologizing for the offence that the shirt had caused. The caption read, "If I hurt you, we were being authentic to the characters of Sid and Nancy for our Halloween costumes. It hurt and angered many of you and we are deeply sorry for that. That was never our intention. We did not mean to offend. With love, Lisa and Harry." At least they saw where some of their fans were coming from.

4 Nicky Hilton As An "Indian"

via: Huffington Post

Here we have yet another celebrity who has tried to "defy the odds" by dressing up as a stereotype that will forever remain a spectacle. In today's world, there is a great respect for Native Americans and their various cultures. When celebrities dress up like Nicky Hilton did, many people agree that it is disrespectful and degrading to the Native Americans and their ancestors, and the apple doesn't seem to fall far from the tree. Her sister, Paris Hilton, also dressed up as a Native American at one point in her life. These celebrities dress to impress with no regrets, and no regards to what people think when it comes to cultural respect. It's true that most of the time famous individuals don't mean to offend the public with their displays, but sometimes they just can't help it.

3 Kelly Osbourne Takes A Knock at Rachel Dolezal

via: NY Daily News

Kelly Osbourne took her chances in 2015 by dressing up as Rachel Dolezal, a civil rights activist who was trying to pass as a black woman. It was later revealed that Rachel is actually white. Osbourne was so upset with the lie that she decided to do something about it and made a costume for herself. While this one comes straight out of a "make it right" situation, Kelly didn't hold back on Instagram by taking a picture of herself and posting it with the caption, "#CallMeRachel." However, some people considered what Osbourne did to be offensive, as well. Many people said that Rachel's hair was her choice and that it didn't matter if she wanted to change it. Osbourne herself has made some very interesting comments about a lot of celebrities on the show Fashion Police, but this stunt really drew in the crowd, to say the least.

2 Prince Harry Wears a Swastika

via: NY Daily News

A few years back in 2005, the notorious Prince Harry was attending a party where he was seen donning a swastika on his sleeve. This was unnerving and offensive to the public, especially for quite a few Jewish groups. He did apologize in a statement and assured everyone of how sorry he was. Many people suggested that he visit the Auschwitz concentration camp even after his apology. A large group of officials, as well as the public, agreed that he should visit places like Auschwitz and other camps that would help him realize what the symbol once meant. Even The Simon Wiesenthal Center located in Los Angeles let Prince Harry know just how they felt and suggested that he visit Poland in honor of the 60th anniversary of liberation of Auschwitz. The founder of the center commented, "There he will see the results of the hated symbol he so foolishly and brazenly chose to wear."

1 Heidi And Spencer Pratt Poking Fun At Jon & Kate Plus 8

via: Trend Hunter

Heidi and Spencer Pratt, who are both stars from the popular show The Hills, showed up in front of cameras in 2009 dressed up as the well known Jon and Kate from the show Jon & Kate Plus 8. While this may look like nothing, considering the fact that the actual Jon and Kate were actually splitting up at the time, it didn't seem right to be making jokes about their lives, but Heidi and Spencer dove head first. They matched the outfits from the show and sported eight baby dolls to show off who they were along, with wigs to top it all off. Pratt once told New York Post that there was no such thing as bad press. It seems that, for the couple, whether the press is good or bad, they certainly know how to make an impression. As always, Halloween is about having fun, but how far is too far? Did Heidi and Spencer really push the limit?
