Most people would love the chance to live near a celebrity. And while being a celebrity’s neighbor may be great in some cases, most of the time it’s actually quite awful. Celebrities are famous and rich which means that they are used to always getting their way. That may mean loud parties, standoffish attitudes and plain old rudeness.

Of course, there are exceptions. There are plenty of celebrities who make great neighbors - some celebrities are quiet and keep to themselves, but are nevertheless friendly and respect those around them. Others may not be great neighbors to begin with, but they respect their neighbors' opinions and criticisms and modify their behavior. And still others don’t even have neighbors because they live in huge mansions in the middle of nowhere.

Most celebrities feel like normal rules don’t apply to them which inherently makes them terrible neighbors. And when those around them complain or sue them, they settle the case and modify their behavior for a short while only to go back to their disrespectful ways a few weeks later. Here are 15 Celebrities Who Are Awful To Live Next To According To Their Neighbors.

David Schwimmer Tore Down A House From 1852 – So His Neighbors Spray Painted The New Building

To this day, the actor David Schwimmer is best known for his role as Ross Geller in the wildly popular TV show Friends. Some Friends fans hated Ross, while others loved him and thought he was the best character out of the whole group.

But a few years ago Schwimmer and his character Ross received an unbelievable amount of hate. You see, back in 2010, Schwimmer bought a townhouse in East Village that was built in 1852. The house was soon to get landmark status. However, before that could happen, Schwimmer had it torn down. In its place he built a six-story mansion with a roof deck.

As you can imagine, Schwimmer’s new neighbors were not too pleased with the actor’s decision to tear down the historic townhouse and they were not going to stay quiet about it. In 2013, they spray-painted “Ross is not cool” on the almost completed new building.

Madonna Blares Music, Stomps And Shakes Walls For Hours On End

A few years ago, Madonna’s upstairs neighbor Karen George sued the superstar for excessive noise. Apparently, Madonna danced and exercised for up to three hours a day which resulted in her “blaring music, stomping and shaking walls” for hours on end. At times the noise and the vibrations were so bad that George felt like she had no other option but to leave her apartment until Madonna had finished her exercise and dance routine.

Madonna, on the other hand, claimed that the noise she caused never topped legal levels. The singer tried dampening the sound in 2009 but according to George, Madonna’s attempts were futile as the noise levels remained the same.

Luckily for George, Madonna later ceased practicing her moves in the apartment as she'd built a studio elsewhere.

Robert Downey Jr. Trespassed Into His Neighbor's House And Then Passed Out In Her Bedroom

Imagine coming back home and finding a celebrity passed out on your bed. Sounds great, doesn’t it? Well, not everyone thinks so. Back in 1996, the actor Robert Downey Jr. was arrested when his neighbor returned to her Malibu home and found the actor passed out in her bedroom.

Naturally, Downey’s neighbor immediately called the police and the actor was arrested for trespassing as well as for being under the influence of drugs. Downey Jr. spent only one night in a jail ward at County – USC Medical Center before he was released.

Charlie Sheen Based One Of His 'Two And A Half Men' Characters On His Neighbor

If you end up being Charlie Sheen’s neighbor – beware! He might base a TV character on you. After all, that is exactly what happened to Sheen’s neighbor Ursula Auburn. In 2007, Auburn sued the actor for basing the “wacky neighbor and female stalker Rose” from Two and a Half Men on her.

Apparently, the way the character from the show talks, dresses and looks closely resembles Auburn. In addition, Auburn claimed that the show was full of situations that had actually happened in real life between Auburn and Sheen.

For example, in the show, Rose creates a website that focuses on Charlie Harper’s (played by Charlie Sheen) sexual affairs. Similarly, in real life, Auburn created a website about her and Sheen’s relationship. Coincidence? We think not!

James Franco’s Compound Is In Actual Fact A Production Company

A few years ago, the actor James Franco bought a compound in Silver Lake. Rumor had it that Franco was going to fix it up and then live in it. However, it soon turned out that the actor was not going to renovate the new place at all. Rather, he was going to use it as a production company.

Franco’s neighbors were terribly upset about this turn of events and wrote an e-mail expressing their disappointment –“Large white production trucks and various other vehicles block our driveway and use it as a loading zone and block our street with such regularity that we have begun calling parking enforcement to have them ticketed; racks of costumes come and go; crowds of people constantly stream in and out of the house and have business meetings in front of OUR house and treat us as if we are eavesdropping sycophants when we walk out our gate to our car; and as I write this, they've set up hair and make-up in their driveway.”

Drake’s Neighbors Complained About The Noise So He Bought Their House

Some celebrities take their neighbors’ complaints to heart and modify their behavior, others simply ignore them. The singer Drake, however, does neither. He simply makes sure that those who complain no longer live beside him.

No neighbors, no complaints, right? Clearly, that’s what Drake thought when his LA neighbors complained about the noise emanating from his house. His solution was simple yet very effective – he legally bought his neighbors’ house for $2.85 million (see the image above).

Funnily enough, this incident was almost prophetic if you take a close look at Drake’s Where Ya At lyrics - “Where your a**es when we recording in the bathroom? I’ll buy the neighbor’s house if they complain about the noise.”

Sean Connery Is “A Rude, Foul-Mouthed, Fat Old Man” According To His Neighbors

James Bond actor Sean Connery may seem like a gentleman on screen, but he’s certainly no gentleman in real life. In fact, the actor’s neighbors have called Connery a “rude, foul-mouthed, fat old man.”

Connery shares a six-storey Tudor townhouse, built in 1869, with Dr. Burton Sultan and his family. Connery and his wife live on the top two floors while Dr. Sultan and his family live on the bottom four floors. In 2001, Connery began renovating his two floors which, according to his neighbors, resulted in unbearable noise, fumes, and a rat infestation.

In addition, Connery’s neighbors have complained that the actor is constantly playing loud music and stomping around. Apparently, when one of Sultan’s daughters asked Connery to lower the music the actor went mad – “Cursing and otherwise using indecent language. Connery demeaned Marla's father, refused to lower the noise and slammed the door in her face."

Chris Brown Holds Dog Races In The Hallway, Parks In Handicapped Parking Spots And Hosts Loud Parties

When the American rapper Chris Brown decided to sell his West Hollywood penthouse condo, his neighbors were overjoyed at the prospect of him leaving. Apparently, Brown was a terrible neighbor – he did not care about those around him at all.

Brown constantly annoyed and angered his neighbors by holding dog races in the hallway and by parking in the building’s handicapped parking spots. In addition, the rapper loved to party and held many loud soirees in his condo.

It is said that Brown’s neighbors were so annoyed with the rapper that they even called Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Patricia Schnegg and complained about his irresponsible and insensitive behavior!

Justin Bieber Has Loud Parties And Occasionally Eggs His Neighbors' Houses

While many people out there would no doubt love to live near Justin Bieber, there are certain individuals who absolutely hate being the singer's neighbors.

Take Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard for example. According to Shepard, ever since Bieber moved to their neighborhood, the noise has been unbearable – “The music and the parties and the paparazzi, I mean, it’s like living in Lebanon now.” Bell was slightly more diplomatic – “In his defense, I will say we don’t know the exact house the music is coming from. We just know since he moved in, the music has been blaring.”

Also, who can forget the time when Bieber egged his neighbor's house? The singer threw at least a dozen raw eggs at his neighbors Jeff and Suzie Schwartz's house, causing at least $20,000 damage.

Rihanna’s Chauffeurs Constantly Use The Neighbors' Driveways

In 2009 the singer Rihanna was sued by her neighbor Christian Moeller for being a bad neighbor as well as for invasion of privacy, trespass, and nuisance!

Apparently, Rihanna is not a very thoughtful person – in his lawsuit Moeller claimed that he had had enough of Rihanna’s chauffeurs constantly using his driveway. He also did not appreciate the fact that the singer’s bamboo trees were obstructing his view of the city.

The lawsuit was eventually settled. Surprisingly, some of the other neighbors defended Rihanna, saying that she was a far better neighbor than the squatters that lived in the house previously – “Several years ago it had squatters living there and it became a real party house with people coming from all over Los Angeles. But after they were kicked out it became really quiet again and Rihanna hasn’t caused any real problems. There have been a few parties there in the past month but nothing really so bad that people would file a lawsuit.”

Taylor Swift Ruined A Wave Break For Surfers And Restricted Access To The Beach For Locals

Taylor Swift would make a great neighbor, right? She’s sweet, she loves cats and she’s not a party person. However, while there’s no denying that the singer has many great qualities, her neighbors curse the day she moved into her Rhode Island mansion.

You see, Swift has decided to reconstruct the coastline off of her beachfront house and this decision has seriously angered the locals - “It was bad enough when she moved in, but to ruin a part of the town for all of us ... this is a whole new level of hate.”

Surfers claim that Swift’s construction has ruined the wave break while locals complain that access to the beach is now restricted.

Lenny Kravitz Allowed His Toilet To Overflow Into His Neighbor’s Apartment

The singer Lenny Kravitz is not a bad person to live beside. He’s not loud and he doesn’t walk around in the nude in front of his neighbors. However, back in 2004, Kravitz was sued by an insurance company due to his “negligence and carelessness” around the house.

You see, what happened was this: the singer allowed his toilet, which “became blocked, clogged and congested with various materials” to overflow into his neighbor’s apartment. This caused severe water damage and pretty much ruined Kravitz’s neighbor’s apartment.

Kravitz’s neighbor, a former insurance executive, was obviously quite upset and had The Amica Mutual Insurance Company pay him $333,850 in damages. The insurance company paid the sum but then obviously went after Kravitz.

Christina Aguilera’s Neighbors Did Not Appreciate The Noises She And Her Ex-Husband Made While Together

After the Osbournes finished their MTV show The Osbournes, they decided to move out of their Beverly Hills mansion. Their neighbors were delighted – the Osbournes had apparently been terrible to live beside since they constantly blasted “horrific, ear-splitting rock music.”

However, the neighbors' joy did not last long – Christina Aguilera and then-husband Jordan Bratman, as well as their son Max, soon moved into the villa and the noise resumed.

But it wasn’t the noise of a baby crying that started bothering the neighbors. It was the noise of Aguilera and Bratman frolicking around – “They don’t just splash around — they laugh, scream, swear and make sexy noises. We’re happy that they’re happy, but we wish they’d keep it down a bit. There are a lot of old people who live around here, and they don’t like noise after the dinner hour.”

Matthew McConaughey Annoyed His Neighbors By Playing His Bongo In His B-Day Suit

Back in 1999, the actor Matthew McConaughey was arrested in his home after his neighbors called the police on him. Apparently, the actor was playing his bongo in the nude. As you can imagine, the actor’s neighbors did not appreciate his lack of modesty.

However, McConaughey says that he does not regret playing bongo in the nude – “(But) what's wrong with beating on your drums in your birthday suit? I have no regrets about the way I got there. But what's the lesson? Shut the window that has the beautiful scent of jasmine blowing in because it's two in the morning and you might wake a neighbor.”

Meryl Streep Doesn’t Talk To Her Neighbors

There’s no denying that Meryl Streep is a talented actress. What’s more, she never seems to get bad press which is so rare in Hollywood. But a few years ago the Oscar-winning actress’s neighbors revealed that Streep is not actually a nice person.

Believe it or not, Streep has earned the nickname “The Nasty Lady” among her neighbors in Salisbury, Connecticut.

Apparently, the actress refuses to talk to her neighbors and when she does, she is incredibly sharp with them – “I went to grammar school with Meryl’s daughter Grace, and we all thought it was really cool that her mom was famous. One day, after school, Meryl came on the playground to pick her up, but she was just mean to people! At first, she wouldn’t talk to the other moms. Then, when she did, she snapped at them. Sometimes the other kids would ask Grace, ‘Why is your mom so mean?’ And you could tell she didn’t know what to say.”
