When it comes to the decision of booty bumping with someone, there are multiple factors that you may consider. For some, including several people on our list, it's the big man upstairs that prevents them from exploring each other's downstairs before getting married.
For others on our list, it may have been a personal decision or an inability to seal the deal that prevented them from getting intimate.
There are definitely some names on here that may shock you, including a popular actress from Friends, one of the most successful lingerie models of all-time, and two of the most talented and well-known musicians in the business. Though as Jerry Seinfeld once pointed out, it's not like spotting a toupee!
And if the names don't leave you shocked enough, the details will, including several celebrities that first got up close and personal with someone for the first time with age differences that spanned decades.
With quotes from every entry on our list, we'll let these celebrities put in their own words why they held out and which ones are still hanging out solo.
15 Ciara And Russell Wilson - Wanted To Do It "Jesus' Way"
Not only is Russell Wilson one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL, but Ciara is one of the sexiest musicians in the world. Together they're a pretty stunning couple but prior to their marriage, Russell Wilson made it very clear that the two of them were waiting until making that final step.
"I asked her, ‘What would you do if we took all that extra stuff off the table? And just did it Jesus’ way? Can we love each other without [sex]? If you can really love someone without that then you can really love somebody."
The two took to snapchat back in 2016 after they finally tied the knot to declare that they had sex multiple times on their wedding night. Apparently Jesus' way holds nothing back once the knot is sealed!
14 Julianne Hough - Still Waiting To See "All" Of Her NHL Fiancé
While there are plenty of celebrities on our list that won't openly say that they feel their decision to wait was the best one, Julienne Hough is a lot more frank with it, saying,
"I'm not trying to preach consequences here, but I think when you say no, down the line, it will be a better decision."
Hough went on to say,
"I want to be with that special person, I think [the choice] to have sex before marriage is an individual one, but if you're just with one person, it's only for one good reason, and [waiting to have sex] will strengthen that relationship."
Hough has been engaged to NHL player Brooks Laich since 2015, but if she sticks to her guns then we're sure Laich is waiting impatiently.
13 LoLo Jones - Waiting Is Harder Than Training For Olympics
One of the hardest things to do in your life if you are an athlete is to qualify for the Olympics. LoLo Jones has not only done that on several occasions, but she has also competed both as a track athlete and on the U.S. national bobsled team!
But if you think that's hard to do, LoLo says it's not nearly as hard as her decision to abstain from knocking boots.
"If there are virgins out there, I just want to let them know, it's the hardest thing I've ever done in my life. Harder than training for the Olympics, harder than graduating from college, has been to stay a virgin before marriage," said Jones in a past interview.
When you consider Jones is still not married, you can only wonder if this is a statement that she has been able to abide by.
12 Lisa Kudrow - Didn't Feel Like She Was Uptight
Lisa Kudrow's character of Phoebe on FRIENDS was a lot more open with her sexuality than Kudrow is in real life. In fact, as you can tell by her placement on this list, Kudrow elected to wait until marriage before she finally knocked boots for the first time.
When talking about it in a past interview, Kudrow said,
"I don't know if you'd characterize me as uptight, but I understood what it is to be so afraid of sex, of your sexuality... for me it was just no, I'm saving myself. Because I have to make myself worthy of the kind of man I have in mind."
Kudrow got married to Michel Stern who is a French advertising executive back in 1995.
11 Chelsie Hightower - Doesn't Drink, Do Drugs Or Booty Bump
But she definitely isn't practicing those dance moves in the bedroom.
"I am a virgin, I don’t drink, and I don’t do drugs. There are always temptations, and they come in different ways, but this is really who I am. Nothing or anyone affects how I live my life. It’s not that hard… I definitely know who I am. .. I don’t care what anyone says," said Hightower in a past interview.
10 Mariah Carey And Nick Cannon - Did "Other Stuff" First
Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon may no longer be in a relationship together, but past interviews definitely last a lot longer and aren't disappearing anytime soon. When talking about their level of physicality prior to their wedding, Carey said,
"It’s not that we had no intimacy, we just didn’t have complete intimacy. It's just me, and my feelings."
The two got married after only two months of dating. Carey was also quick to say that while this was what they decided, that it doesn't mean it may be what is right for you,
"I definitely don't want to push it on anybody else. But we both have similar beliefs, and I just thought that it would be so much more special if we waited until after we were married."
9 Ali Landry - Was Traumatized After Mario Lopez Cheated
Ali Landry is incredibly gorgeous and in 1996 was named Miss USA. She also had a high-profile relationship with Mario Lopez and the two were married in 2004. Sadly, Landry was well aware that Lopez was probably cheating on her and on the Honeymoon she started looking through his phone and quickly found evidence that he had engaged in a threeway during his bachelor party.
The relationship was annulled that same year. While we are sure they booty bumped prior to their marriage, you can be assured Landry did no such thing with her current husband Alejandro Monteverde.
In a past interview, Landry admitted "Because of the situation I was in before, I was just treading lightly, and did not want to make any mistakes in this relationship," Landry went on to say "We abstained from having sex until we got married."
The two have been happily married since 2006 and have 3 children together.
8 Courtney Stodden - She Was 16...He Was 51
Courtney Stodden understandably turned plenty of heads when at the age of 16, she announced she was going to get married to actor Doug Hutchinson who was 51.
Stodden has opened up about plenty of details about their relationship, but one of the most pressing for people was on if they were intimate prior to their wedding. Stodden shut down any potential rumors saying in a past interview,
"I was a virgin when I married...I knew that if I kept that I would really be blessed with a beautiful gift and God did, he blessed me with my soulmate."
Sadly it turns out it was only a soulmate for a limited period of time, as they got separated in January 2017.
7 Carrie Underwood - Fisher Brought Her Closer To God
Carrie Underwood has not opened up in past interviews about her love of booty bumping, but she has made her love of religion very clear. Underwood is a devout Christian and also spent part of her upbringing singing in the Southern Baptist Church.
Underwood has also been married to Mike Fisher since 2010, and when talking about their relationship in a past interview Underwood mentioned how Fisher has only improved her relationship with God; which definitely would indicate that the two remained celibate.
Not only that, but Underwood also made it clear in another interview that the two also did not live together prior to tying the knot,
"I read something recently that a certain someone and I were moving in together. This is beyond not true…just another example of people making stuff up out of thin air! …Neither one of us would ever do that. I would never live with my boyfriend…not my style."
6 Adriana Lima - Didn't Care If People Judged Her For Waiting
Adriana Lima is one of the most popular and sought after models in the entire world, as well as being the longest tenured running Victoria's Secret Angel. Which may have made it all the more shocking in 2006 when she admitted she was a virgin and had no plans of losing it until she got married (which she eventually did in 2009 to Marko Jaric).
When Lima was asked how guys typically react, she said, "I don’t care. They have to respect that this is my choice. If there’s no respect, that means they don’t want me."
Lima has explained more about her decision, saying that it was motivated by her Catholic upbringing.
Sadly for Lima, the Catholic church also doesn't look too kindly on divorce, but that's exactly what Jaric and Lima finalized in March 2016.
5 Sarah Drew - So Was Her Grey's Anatomy Character
Sarah Drew does an outstanding job of playing the religious character April Kepner on the show Grey's Anatomy. Drew's character is a virgin in the series (at least originally) and was trying to wait till marriage.
It was a role that Drew was able to identify with easily, saying in a past interview,
"For April, the first thing that was revealed was she was a virgin. I waited until I was married to have sex so I understood April’s motivations. The writers thought it would be a really cool and interesting story to tell that isn’t seen too often.”
4 Meagan Good - Would Turn Down Roles If God Would Disapprove
Meagan Good has had no shortage of variety in the roles she has played, ranging from Saw V to Anchorman 2. Good is open about her Christian faith, including saying in a past interview that she would not pick roles that could potentially disappoint God.
She met DeVon Franklin in 2011 who worked as an executive at Columbia Pictures, but also as a Seventh-day Adventist preacher and the two were married in 2012.
"Our wedding night will be the first time we’re actually together. He was willing to be celibate with me for a year. He loves God, more than I love God, so I don’t think there’s anything wrong [with him]," said Good in a past interview when asked about her decision to wait.
3 Leelee Sobieski - Didn't Wait Because Of Religion
Leelee Sobieski appeared in the movie Eyes Wide Shut, and when it comes to having sex, she wanted to wait until marriage.
Sobieski got married back in 2009 and in a past interview stated,
"I guess 26 is kind of old to lose your virginity, but it was important to me that I remained a virgin until after I was married. It wasn’t for any religious reasons or anything like that, but simply because, to me, my virginity was the most precious gift that I could ever give to a man, and I wanted to be sure I was giving it to the right man."
We commend her for sticking to her choice.
2 Kirk Cameron - Sex Within Marriage Is The Only Exciting Kind
Kirk Cameron made a name for himself growing up by appearing in the television series Growing Pains, but as he got older, his Evangelical Christian faith started taking a more active role and he even had storylines get altered in the show to reflect his new found faith.
Naturally, this also led to him waiting until marriage to knock boots with his wife Chelsea Noble, who also amusingly enough appeared in Growing Pains.
"Sex within marriage is the only kind that’s truly fun and exciting — the kind that lasts for a lifetime. I’m glad I waited," said Cameron when talking about his decision.
1 Gary Coleman - Wanted To, But Finally Caved With Someone 18 Years Younger
When it comes to "what chu talking 'bout Willis" with Gary Coleman, that topic definitely wasn't intercourse for a large portion of his life. In fact, Coleman did not lose his virginity until he was 40 years old.
Though the person he lost it to was his new bride, Shannon Price, she was only 22 years old.
The Insider talked to Coleman about his sex life leading him to say,
"It’s my business, it’s my issue and I really don’t think it’s a problem. I don’t choose to be one, I just am. I have love in my heart, I have the desire; I just don’t know what it is. It’ll happen when it’ll happen, and it’ll happen for all the right reasons.”
Coleman also admitted that while he did lose his virginity to Shannon, he wasn't necessarily waiting for her, it just worked out that way.
