This list is comprised of some of the most intelligent women in Hollywood who also happen to be very attractive. They get our attention with their beauty and impress us with their minds. These are the women that will lead the charge against degradation and some of them already have.
Nobody can deny the way feminism is trending right now. The allegations are all over the media, and everybody from Matt Lauer to Louis CK has been fired for misconduct. Women are screaming out, “Enough is enough!” And they are being heard, loud and clear.
Actresses on this list are an inspiration. They have attended Ivy League schools and earned degrees in arts and science. A few left college, after finding Hollywood success, but even gaining acceptance into these institutions is extremely difficult. In addition to schooling, these women have achieved undeniable financial success in acting, modelling, or singing. These are the ultimate dream girls, and they are totally bad-a*s. These women possess the beauty and the brains, and they’re not afraid to show it.
15. Kate Beckinsale – Oxford
You can study images of Kate Beckinsale as closely as you want and you won’t find a flaw anywhere. The best part is, the woman is brilliant as well. Kate attended New College of Oxford where she was a Modern Languages student. She studied French and Russian Literature and took a year abroad in Paris. Kate was described in The Observer as “Whip-clever, slightly nuts, and very charming.” Kate has starred in such hits as Van Helsing and the Underworld series. She was one of many brave actresses who recently came forward with her own Harvey Weinstein accusation. She said she once went to a meeting and “he answered the door in his bathrobe.” Years later, she met him again. Kate said, “He asked me if he had tried anything with me in that first meeting. I realized he couldn’t remember if he had assaulted me or not.” That’s how many times the jerk behaved that way. Yikes!
14. Meghan Markle – Northwestern (Served An Internship In Buenos Aires For The US Embassy)
Now here’s a woman who has had her name splashed all over the tabloids lately. And if you don’t know by now, all the publicity is due to her engagement to the most eligible bachelor in the world, Prince Harry. The couple was first spotted on Halloween of last year, but the relationship may have been going long before that. The Royals are some of the most photographed people in the world, so it’s obvious that some stealth dating techniques must be used. Markle was born and raised near Los Angeles and moved to the Chicago area to attend Northwestern. She double-majored in theater and international studies and even served an internship in Buenos Aires for the US Embassy. She seems to be a great fit for a prince, since she already knows diplomacy, as well as old-time traditions like calligraphy. Surprisingly enough, the actress freelanced as a calligrapher while she was auditioning for roles in Hollywood. Once she marries, Markle plans to quit acting and pursue her humanitarian passions, like gender equality and The Clean Water Campaign.
13. Lupita Nyong’o – Yale School of Drama
Lupita is one of the prettiest actresses in the business who currently has one of the hottest careers. After winning an Oscar in 12 Years A Slave, Lupita’s career lifted off. She has since starred in Non Stop and The Queen of Katwe. And let’s not forget her awesome voice role as Maz in the latest Star Wars films. Lupita will also appear in Marvel’s all-star cast of Black Panther, which is due out this February. Lupita was born in Mexico and raised in Kenya. She is fluent in Swahili and Spanish. Lupita is a classically-trained actress who studied first at Hampshire College and later graduated with an MFA from Yale School of Drama. Nyong’o also came out against Harvey Weinstein. She wrote an article to the New York Times, which detailed several unwelcome advances made by the infamous Hollywood producer. She recalled how he insisted on being massaged by her multiple times, and he disrobed.
12. Elizabeth Banks – University Of Pennsylvania
Elizabeth Banks has one of the most bad-a*s personalities in Hollywood. She has even called out legendary director Steven Spielberg for not having enough female leads in his movies. Banks is currently adapting a book called The Paper Bag Princess, a feminist take on fairytales where the princess saves the prince. For this project, she’s collaborating with Margot Robbie. Banks definitely has the brains to launch this endeavor and kill it. She has an undergrad degree from University of Pennsylvania where she graduated magna cum laude. She went on to earn an MFA from the American Conservatory Theater in San Francisco. She is best known for her roles in the Hunger Games movies, as well as the Pitch Perfect series. The third (and final?) Pitch opens December 22.
11. Allison Williams – Yale
Allison Williams broke onto the scene in Girls, the Lena Dunham brainchild that stirred controversy and boosted ratings for HBO. Allison may be the most successful out of all the actresses on the show so far. During the Girls’ run, Allison landed the part of Peter Pan in the live TV musical. She also appeared in Get Out, the horror movie about race, which was a huge success. Her latest project is Patrick Melrose, an upcoming TV series starring Benedict Cumberbatch. Remember Brian Williams, the news anchor who grossly embellished his stories and was fired from NBC Nightly News? Well, that’s Allison’s dad, and thankfully she seems to be way smarter than him. Allison graduated from Yale, and while she was there, she did lots of improv comedy. She also achieved fame on YouTube with College Musical. Recently, she voiced her political views in a Politico podcast called Women Rule.
10. Alicia Keys – Columbia University
Alicia Keys is one of the most recognizable and respected musicians in the business. Her hits Fallin’, If I Ain’t Got You, and Girl on Fire have earned her 15 Grammy awards. She’s appeared on television as a coach on The Voice and furthered her appeal even more. While coaching on the show, Alicia began her makeup-free campaign, explaining, “I don’t want to cover up anymore. Not my face, not my mind, not my soul, not my thoughts, not my dreams, not my struggles, not my emotional growth. Nothing.” Alicia was outspoken since a child and graduated valedictorian from the Professional Performing Arts School in New York. She went on to study briefly at Columbia University. Alicia has been in the business much longer than you may think, and she even appeared on The Cosby Show when she was four years old.
9. Emma Watson – Brown
Oh, yes, everybody recognizes one of the most successful child stars of a generation. And instead of getting distracted like many child stars, Emma Watson stayed focused and graduated from Brown with a degree in English Literature. Just compare her career arch with another child star of her generation, Lindsay Lohan. If this isn’t motivation to study instead of dabbling with drugs and alcohol, then I’m not sure what is. Emma has achieved such success in film with timeless roles as Hermione from Harry Potter and Belle from Beauty and the Beast. She has also amassed millions of dollars with her modelling contracts from high-end brands like Burberry and Lancôme. Adding to that impressive resume, let’s not forget her political activism. In 2014, Emma was appointed as the UN Women Goodwill Ambassador, and she has been a powerful voice for gender equality.
8. Katy Perry – Nope
Okay, we had to try to trick you with one on the list. Katy Perry never went to college. In fact, she never even graduated high school. We are by no means trying to encourage dropping out, since the odds are WAY against you. However, we did include her to show some contrast, and we’re trying not to be too judgmental. She is still a smart person, very woke and involved in many feminist movements. She’s not the only highly successful and gorgeous female to dropout either. How about Gisele? She’s the most successful model ever and tops the wages of her husband, Tom Brady, the best NFL quarterback ever. Cutie pie blonde actress Cameron Diaz also dropped out. Then we have Oscar winners too. Charlize Theron was a high school dropout. And one of the most nominated actresses in Oscar history, Kate Winslet, quit school win she was sixteen.
7. Cindy Crawford – Northwestern
So, just in case you were wondering, these are the official Ivy League schools—Brown University, Columbia University, Cornell University, Dartmouth College, Harvard University, the University of Pennsylvania, Princeton University, and Yale University. That’s only eight, which is not many, and most scholars agree that the list is too short. Many esteemed schools including Notre Dame, Cal Berkeley, Stanford, UIC, MIT, Duke, or Oxford also deserve to be recognized. Northwestern is another incredibly difficult school to join, and Cindy Crawford did just that with a chemical engineering major. Cindy didn’t last long, thanks to a budding modelling career. Cindy was raised in Dekalb, IL, and her dad was a chemist. She graduated valedictorian at the local high school. Crawford has been an outspoken fundraiser of cancer research inspired by her brother, who died of leukemia as a child. Recently, she has watched her twinsies daughter, Kaia Gerber, rise in the modelling ranks.
6. Jordana Brewster – Yale
Arguably one of the lesser-known women on the list, many fans still recognize Jordana Brewster, especially if you’re a Fast And Furious lover. Jordana has appeared as Mia in five of the franchise’s films, and it isn’t over yet. Two more Furious films are due out in 2020 and 2021, and Brewster will appear in both. Fast and Furious films have that reputation for being rather dim to the pompous film buff. The movies have too many explosions and gratuitous scantily-clad women to appeal to the hipster intellectual. So, it comes as a surprise that one of its biggest stars graduated from Yale. Brewster was actually born in Panama City, Panama. Her mother was a model who actually posed in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue back in 1978. Then, Jordana moved to her father’s native, England. At six years old, she moved to Rio. Then at ten, she relocated to NYC. She earned her Yale degree in English Studies, and she also speaks fluent Portuguese.
5. Kate McKinnon – Columbia
Saturday Night Live just won’t go away. The sketch comedy show has been doing its thing for over 40 years and has somehow managed to remain relevant. Since the beginning of its legendary run, one of the show’s biggest strengths is its political commentary, and with a bumbling president like Trump, the SNL ratings have soared. Although McKinnon played the losing presidential candidate, Hillary Clinton, Trump’s victory did not lessen her screen time on the show. Lately, Kate has played a devious-elf version of Attorney General Jeff Sessions with hilarious success. The Emmy-winning actress has also begun to transition away from TV, with major film roles in Ghostbusters and Rough Night. Kate has also stayed quite busy with voice roles in several animated works. Kate studied theater at Columbia and founded the comedy group Tea Party. She is the first openly gay SNL cast member and has been a voice for the LGBTQ community.
4. Ariel Winter – UCLA
Okay so, UCLA is not even close to the Ivy League. Ariel isn’t the smartest woman on the list, but she is the youngest. And she made it to this list because she chose to attend college when she easily could have skipped it. Ariel basically rebranded herself as a hot Instagram babe, like a Kardashian, and many people thought the story would end there. Instead, Ariel decided that education was important, and she is currently enrolled at UCLA. Ariel easily could have gone the other route. Kim Kardashian never graduated Pierce College, and Khloe and Rob never even enrolled. Kourtney only has the degree and graduated from University of Arizona. The sisters on the Jenner side never considered college and opted to focus on their careers. Instead, it seems like Ariel took inspiration from her Modern Family TV mom, Julie Bowen, who graduated from Brown.
3. Jennifer Connelly – Stanford
If you haven’t seen A Beautiful Mind, the bio-epic about a math genius with schizophrenia, it’s definitely worth a watch. It’s a great film directed by Ron Howard, and it often gets overlooked on best-films-ever lists. The movie was huge for Jennifer Connelly because she won an Oscar and met her husband, Paul Bettany, on the set. Jennifer has been in Hollywood forever. Her film debut was back in 1982, in the Robert De Niro crime drama Once Upon a Time in America. Connelly has been modelling and acting nearly all of her life, but somehow she managed to squeeze some education. Between Hollywood jobs, Jennifer attended Yale, and then transferred to Stanford where she graduated. Outside of show business, Jennifer stands up for human rights. In 2012, she was named ambassador for Save the Children fund, which benefits kids in poverty.
2. Tracee Ellis Ross – Brown University
If you watched the AMA’s last week, you may have been pleasantly surprised to see Black-ish star Tracee Ellis Ross hosting the show. And you were probably even more surprised to see some of the outlandish outfits she put together. At one point, she even admitted to stealing clothes from her mom’s closet. Of course, her mom is none other than the legendary singer, Diana Ross, who was honored that night with the Lifetime Achievement Award. Having a famous mom surely opened some financial doors for Tracee growing up, but she also worked hard to find success in her own right. Tracee did some modelling and then attended Brown University where she studied theater. After school, she worked in the fashion business for a while and then pursued acting. In 2015, Brown awarded her with an honorary doctorate of fine arts. She has also won a Golden Globe and several NAACP Image Awards.
1. Natalie Portman – Harvard
This star once said, “I’d rather be smart than a movie star.” Just about everyone recognizes Natalie Portman. She has won two Golden Globes and one Oscar and has done everything from indie films, to comedy, to science-fiction. Her most famous roles are from Star Wars, V for Vendetta, Closer, and The Black Swan. Ariel Winter was mentioned on this list for attending school while shedding her child-star image, and Natalie Portman may be credited with popularizing that option. While other 80’s child stars, like Drew Barrymore and Michael J Fox, skipped the college option, 90’s child star Natalie took a break to pursue an education. Natalie earned her degree in psychology from Harvard. She has also voiced her opinion in politics. She’s a staunch Democrat and a protector of animal rights.
