In the world of sports, commissioners have it easy. All they need to do is keep order and the owners will gather the players, the teams will compete against each other, and the cream of the crop will rise to the top at the end of the season.
In professional wrestling, it’s a bit different. There’s barely any true competition, and instead the winners are selected and the stories are crafted purely based on the whims of the writers, general managers, and commissioners. (Sorry if we just spoiled wrestling for you, but it’s best that you know the truth. Also, Santa Claus isn’t real.) Sometimes it works out, everybody is happy, and the narrative successfully progresses…and sometimes it doesn’t and the whole thing blows up in everyone’s face. (Or at least pisses a whole bunch of fans off.) For random matches, it may not mean much, but for larger events, the ripple effect can be catastrophic. Here are 10 times the wrong wrestler won.
