You may know a lot about the human body thanks to your Biology class. But, there are a few things your teacher may have skipped over. From animals living on your face, to having a completely new body every 5 to 7 years, your body is pretty incredible. These are 10 things you didn’t know about the human body.

Your body completely replaces itself every 5 to 7 years. And, there are some pretty impressive numbers behind the madness! You have a new liver every 6 weeks and a new skeletal structure every 3 months. But, the most impressive feat is the fact that your brain completely replaces itself every 2 months!

You have 99.9% of the same genetic makeup as the person sitting next to you. But, a some other species share your genetic coding as well! Believe it or not, you have a lot more in common with your cat than you thought! In 2007 studies found that Abyssinian domestic cats share 90% of their genes with humans!

Don’t freak out, but there is an animal on your face! Actually, there are two different species of microscopic mites that call human faces home. Our faces have larger pores than the rest of our bodies, which is where these mites like to shack up. Though science isn’t really sure why everyone has these face mites, the good news is they are harmless!
