Barbies are a part of culture. We grew up with them. We played with them as children. We spent at least half of our childhoods in their imaginary worlds. But, as we got older, the prim and pink Barbies of our past didn’t necessarily match our futures. We needed something more relatable. So Mattel and other doll makers got to work. They began creating Barbies that could relate to anyone from any walk of life. These dolls stand the test of time and have evolved over the years. From Barbies who look more like everyday housewives to real life princesses, these dolls encapsulate the essence of being a woman in today’s time and have something that everyone, no matter their walk in life, can relate to.
