Despite being heavily involved with the disaster that was Fyre Festival, Ja Rule has not ruled out trying to make that dream become a reality.
Despite Fyre Festival taking place almost two years ago, a large part of the world is only just discovering what a screw up the whole thing truly was. Thanks to social media, the world was informed about the disastrous events that took place at the event as they unfolded in real time. However, until now, we have only had the retellings of what happened via the unlucky people who went to go by.
Two years on, and there are now two documentaries about Fyre Festival. Fyre, on Netflix, and Fyre Fraud on Hulu. Both go into tremendous amounts of detail and let us see exactly what was happening during the build to the festival and, more importantly, footage of it all going down. It truly is like a car crash where even though you want to, for some reason you just can't turn away.
The mastermind behind the whole thing, Billy MacFarland is now serving six years in prison. MacFarland was not alone, though. Hip-hop artist Ja Rule was heavily involved in planning the event, as is demonstrated during Fyre. TMZ recently caught up with Ja Rule who told an interviewer that how everything unfolded in regard to the festival has left him "heartbroken."
Ja Rule also admitted to TMZ that he is yet to watch either documentary about the festival, pointing out that he lived it so he doesn't need to. The most shocking revelation, however, came at the very end of the interview. After labeling Fyre "the most iconic music festival that never was" he states that he still has plans to create the most iconic music festival.
Could it be that despite Fyre Festival being a disaster and the bad press surrounding it, we could see Fyre 2.0 somewhere down the line? Honestly, as bad an idea as it sounds on the surface, it actually might work. Thanks to the publicity and the documentaries, Fyre is quickly becoming one of the most famous festivals in the world. If it were put together properly and by people who know what they're doing, there could be an awful lot of money to be made.
