For those tired of lugging those clunky, awkward neck pillows through the airport, the new Trtl Travel Pillow, which looks more like a cool scarf than a dorky neck cushion, is the perfect solution.
Fitted with an internal foam support system, the super soft fleece exterior creates a relaxing hammock effect. Its patented design fits any neck, jaw or shoulder shape, and holds the head and neck in a comfortable ergonomic position. Half the size of a traditional U-shaped travel pillow, the Trtl Pillow can be folded flat and weighs only half a pound. It’s also machine-washable, so it can be packed fresh for every trip.
Given that it’s easy to sneak into your carry-on, you can avoid leaving it behind at the gate or dropping it on the wet bathroom floor. The new Trlt Travel Pillow, which has been featured on Good Morning America, gifted at the Grammy’s and the MTV European Music Awards, and seen on Academy Award-winning actor Jamie Foxx, was developed by Michael Corrigan and David Kellock, two Scottish entrepreneurs and graduates in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Strathclyde, where they met.
While at a Scottish Institute for Enterprise boot camp in 2010, they came up with the idea for a new travel pillow design. With the aid of SIE Business Advisors, they did the necessary market research and developed a business plan. By the end of the week, they won £250 in the pitching competition and decided to further explore their idea. “We realized how many people traveled each year and immediately knew we had something,” Corrigan said.
In 2013, after three years of research, they brought their brand to the Cannes Travel Fair, where they met key players in the industry. Soon after, the began selling the Trtl Travel Pillow at T5 of Heathrow Airport and were featured in the Huffington Post. “That was the ‘wow, this is it’ moment. We ended up selling 1,000 units in 12 hours once the article went live. We knew then that we had something,” Corrigan said.
Now, the Trtl Travel Pillow is available around the world on Amazon, where it won rave reviews with many buyers swearing that it is the only travel pillow that actually works. According to Frank E. Trinkle, “I have tried many products, trying to find one that actually supports my head comfortably, and allows me to get some real sleep while sitting in an awful seat. This is the first and ONLY one that has actually fit the bill!”
