Majorly popular hotel chain Hilton has managed to be successful for many years with hotels all around the world. Many people recognize their hotels just from seeing their name in lights, and are often a strong choice for those who travel a lot. But after receiving tons of feedback from both potential and recurring consumers, the hotel brand seems to be branching off in another direction.
The Points Guy revealed this past Tuesday that Hilton is launching a hostel called Motto by Hilton. Described by the company as, "a micro-hotel with an urban vibe in prime global locations," the rooms in a Motto by Hilton location are smaller and not as flashy as rooms in other Hilton brand hotels. With the average size of a room being about 163 square feet, it's definitely much different than what guests might expect.
In a press release issued by Hilton the same day, they explained that rooms in Motto by Hilton include features that will save money and space. This includes (but is not limited to) segmented showers, toilet stalls, and wall beds. They're about as bare bones as a hotel room can be. Guests can link rooms together in advance depending on what the site's owner permits, as well as payments. That allows payments to be in order when booking occurs, rather than when checkout occurs. All of the aforementioned features really hit on the hostel feel that Mood by Hilton is going for. But there are also features expected to come that will address problems that plague other hostels, such as sound-absorbing walls and blackout curtains, just to name a few.
Hilton wants to open locations in Austin, Dublin, Lima, London, New York City, San Diego, Savannah, and many more. It's said that Motto by Hilton wants to open well over 175 properties around the world. However, the first location is expected to open sometime in 2019, but there hasn't been any other idea as to when other than that. So it's not yet known when travelers will be able to stay at a Motto by Hilton — but here's hoping that it will happen sooner than later.
