It would be wrong to assume that everyone loves going on a tropical vacation- regardless of whether it's winter or not. Some people prefer to go to more historic or beautiful-looking destinations instead of somewhere hot or near a body of water. After all, traveling is generally seen as a way to expand your horizons and explore places you haven't been to before. There's one such place in Canada that, while not tropical, is still a gorgeous vacation spot in its own right.
As seen in Travel + Leisure, the vacation spot in question is known as the Eastern Townships. Located smack dab between Montreal and Québec City, Québec, this area in the prominently French province is beautiful all year around. That's largely thanks to the gorgeous trees, artisan atmosphere, and fun attractions that will keep you interested in the Eastern Townships.
If you visit the Eastern Townships, you'll most likely stay at Manoir Hovey. This well-known hotel sits by the lakeside with lovely suites that include balconies, fireplaces and so much more. If you're willing to spend some more money, you can book the Oriole Suite when it's warm so you can use the outdoor amenities. Should you end up staying at Manoir Hovey when it's cold outside, you should stay in the Bellechasse Suite because it's located right in the middle of the main building. Other cool features include Le Hatley—the hotel's own restaurant—a library, and a teepee.
But there's so much more to see in the Eastern Townships! There's Fromagerie La Station- which has been owned by four generations of the same family and is home to a dairy farm, cheese factory, and sandwich shop. La Grange du Perfumeur is the first perfume house that opened its doors in Canada and is owned by a husband and wife team who produce both perfumes and soaps. Saint Benedict Abbey is a large castle-like monastery that features a cheese and wine tour for you to savor. Finally, there's the Wine Route, which includes 22 vineyards to traverse however you'd like.
The Eastern Townships is a place that you most likely never considered — let alone knew about before. But it's certainly a destination that you should seriously consider. After all, there aren't too many places where you can enjoy so many attractions while staying in a whimsical hotel.
