In a world in which just about anything happens these days, one should hardly be surprised by what they see, hear and read as it pertains to the news.
But every now and then, something reminds us that there's always going to be uncharted territory.
According to the Daily Mail, a Saudi flight heading to Kuala Lumpur from Jeddah was forced to turn around after the pilot was informed that one of the plane's passengers apparently forgot her baby at the departure lounge of the King Abdul Aziz International Airport this past Saturday.
"May God be with us," the pilot is heard saying in a bit of audio that has been released. "Can we come back or what?"
"This flight is requesting to come back," the operator relayed. "A passenger forgot her baby in the waiting area, the poor thing." The baby, with all of its travel accessories, had never left the departure area.
Even after repeating what was heard, the operator still sought confirmation, and understandably so as such a thing is likely to leave you believing that you've heard wrong.
"We told you, a passenger left her baby in the terminal and refuses to continue the flight," the pilot would confirm.
Fortunately, he was given the green light - not that there was any chance of him not having his request granted, considering the situation.
"Okay, head back to the gate," the operator replied. "This is totally a new one for us!"
To be fair, traveling can be one of the nerviest things to do. More often than not, it's going to be a rush and one is always likely to forget something important. In this particular case, however, it's quite unbelievable. Just how does a mother forget a human baby?
Whether the plane had already taken off or was still on the runway is unclear but there's hardly an excuse for such a thing, although we'd love to hear hers.
