Singletary burst onto the country scene in the 1990’s with a slew of hits including, “Too Much Fun,” “I Let Her Lie,” “The Note,” and “Amen Kind of Love.” He came upon the Nashville bar music scene with Tim McGraw but caught a lucky break when his song “An Old Pair of Shoes” gained him the attention of his musical idol, Randy Travis.

In 1995, Travis wife at the time, Elizabeth, became Singletary’s manager and got him signed at Giant Records. It was that same year when one of his biggest dreams came true. His hero, Randy Travis, produced his debut album. It was a chart-topper shooting him into country music stardom.

Although the country music scene has transformed over the last couple of decades, Singletary, stayed true to his roots. He was very traditional country and was pleased he was able to stay true to that in the industry he loved, as it was changing. Those roots showed in his most recent album, There’s Still a Little Country Left, which was released in 2015.

“If you want to do it right, do it like old George Jones. … If you came to twang town just for the money, then pack it up, son, get out of my country,” he sang in the first song off the album titled “Get Out of My Country.”

Daryle Singletary passed away on Monday morning, leaving the country music world to mourn the loss of an amazing man and a talented singer. He was doing what he loved up until the day he died. Singletary performed what will now be his last performance on Friday in Alabama at The Rodeo Club. Fans and concertgoers have stated there did not appear to be any health issues with the singer during that concert.

RIP Daryle Singletary, you will live on through your music that has touched the lives of so many people.
