AT&T To Launch Netflix-Like Streaming Service

The well-known technology company AT&T is planning to launch a streaming service that is going to cost the user around $15 per month.

The streaming service is going to be called WatchTV. According to TheVerge, the service is going to have 15,000 titles that can be viewed on demand from it. That would be a combination of both movies and shows.

The service is going to be available through the latest plans that someone can purchase with AT&T. Specifically, the Unlimited & More and Unlimited & More Premium plans. The service is also going to be standalone for a cheap $15 a month.

The service is going to gain popularity quite quickly since it's a fairly cheap price. Despite that, Netflix still manages to beat WatchTV in that department. The streaming service's most expensive plan is known as the Premium Ultra HD plan, which is available to users for $13.99/month. This is likely going to be where a lot of people will avoid going with WatchTV. Individuals do not want to pay more than they have to, so they often look for a better deal. If they were to come across Netflix's plans, then they might feel the urge to swap providers. That's without taking into account how unlikely it is for a customer to switch services for something that costs more.

Another place where many users might find themselves switching providers, or at least wanting to swap brands is when they figure out some extra costs. Netflix is a flat fee every single month and does not have any extra costs what so ever. However, there could be some extra costs associated with going the AT&T route.

AT&T's  Unlimited & More plan starts at $70 for a single line. If the user was to enable both autopay and paperless billing. Given, video streaming is limited to an ugly 480p. However, the & More Premium option is $80 a month and allows someone to stream at 1080p, which is basically a standard at this point in the world and allows them 15 GB of hotspot usage. So, this is already way more expensive than other options out on the market. Although, the user might get a bunch more features when compared to Netflix.

What this means for the user is that they might be able to land themselves a better deal with either provider. Netflix offers a great service for anyone that would like to simply stream movies and TV shows for a cheap price and a decent resolution, in fact, a user can stream at 4K if they are on the correct plan. If someone was to go with AT&T and their latest streaming service it might cost them more, but land them more features, like 1080p and hotspots.
