20.  John Travolta’s $2.5 Million Home Airport

It is well-known that actor John Travolta is an accomplished pilot and owns his selection of jets. Instead of keeping his personally-owned five airplanes at a off-site private airport, he elected to custom-build a home that included his own private airport right on the grounds. He is one of a select number of people who own a home in Jumbolair Airport Estates, an actual residential airpark with access to two runways that directly to his front door.

Connected directly to the mansion, there are two separate jetways leading to jets, one of which is a mammoth Quantas Boeing 707. At a price tag of about $2.5 million, Travolta’s exclusive Florida home, which is decorated with an aviation theme throughout, also has spacious garage with parking for 16 cars.

19. Halle Berry’s $8 Million Beach-Side Abode

It’s like something out of a movie, waking up to the sounds of the waves on your private beach. When you’re Halle Berry you have the cash to go out and make that a reality. She spent $8 million for her very own beach-side mansion in Malibu, California. She moved into the beach house when her Hollywood Hills home was being repaired. With three bedrooms, four bathrooms, an elevator, and a hot tub, her beachside abode is perfect for comfortable lounging. With a predominantly white interior, the soothing environment was specially crafted for relaxing. That $8 million was a bargain, as the home has only appreciated in value.

18. Steven Spielberg’s $15 Million Extraordinary Estate

Steven Spielberg is one of Hollywood’s most acclaimed film directors and is worth around a cool billion dollars. His Pacific Palisades estate was purchased from famous crooner Bobby Vinton back in 1985. The spacious home sits on a lot that is over 145,000 square foot in size. It is valued at approximately $15 million. Back in 1985, Spielberg already owned two Los Angeles-area homes: a fun little former bachelor pad in Coldwater Canyon and a beach house in Malibu. He knew he found a more long-term residence when set his eyes this tile-roofed stucco mansion tucked into the hillside. He hired popular Hollywood architect Harry Newman to remodel the home. What Newman came up with is a little French, a little Italian, but all without disturbing its overall Spanish influenced style. Spielberg kept the secret staircase that leads up to the master bedroom (it was personally designed by Cary Grant).

17. Taylor Swift’s $17 Million Pop Star Palace

Seaside homes along the beautiful northeast coast of the United States are at a premium. But when you’re genre-busting pop star Taylor Swift, money is not an issue. When she made it known that she was in the market for a new place with a lot of privacy, along with the breathtaking beauty and calmness of an ocean view, realtors found her just the spot. Her 11,000 square-foot seaside home in Rhode Island set her back $17 million. Aside from its awe-inspiring view, this four-story, multi-level mansion has three exterior decks on the upper levels that are perfect for the late nights just sitting out watching the moon on the ocean (sounds like the perfect setting for songwriting).

16. Tom Brady And Gisele Bündchen’s $40 Million Modern Castle

New England Patriot’s quarterback Tom Brady and his beautiful supermodel wife, Gisele Bündchen, collectively are worth a huge sum of money – like boatloads! They can afford to go out and commission the building of a 22,000 square-foot modern castle in Los Angeles. Costing around $40 million, it took about three years to build and features a ton of amenities. The mansion has eight bedrooms, a six-car garage, a full, modern gym, and an incredibly resort-style swimming pool. Now that the home has been built, it looks like Tom and Gisele won’t even be living in it. They have now chosen to live in Boston. Maybe Tom thinks he needs to stay close to his team. They listed the home for sale for a cool $50 million.

15. Rihanna’s $22 Million Barbados Getaway

The super-talented Rihanna has an incredible music career and the financial success that came with it. She already owns a $7 million mansion in the Hollywood Hills. It comes complete with her own private nightclub located right there on the premises. She’s been known to host the occasional after-party or two. However, aside from her Los Angeles home, and another she used to have in Aspen, her most recent home purchase is in Barbados, where she was born and raised. Located in the posh One Sandy Lane luxury estates, her new 5-bedroom condo is valued at $21.8 million. The condo features beautiful ocean views, direct access to the beach, an outdoor pool and spa, as well as golf green and tennis court.

14. Will Smith And Jada Pinkett Smith’s $42 Million Expansive Estate

When you’re one of the most famous actors in the work, Will Smith, and you’re married to another famous actress, Jada Pinkett Smith, you can afford the best. To say the Smith estate is expansive is a misnomer; it is spacious, like it-really-has-its-own-zip-code spacious. Seriously, it really does have its own zip code. The huge compound in Calabasas, California is the largest home in surrounding 5-mile radius. I mean, his “Fresh Prince of Bel Air” home would be considered a guest room compared to this thing! The compound includes a ton of amenities, such as a lake, golf course, basketball and tennis courts, a massive garage, and its very own recording studio. Supposedly, that studio was where Willow Smith recorded “Whip My Hair.” The estate is valued at $42 million and the Smiths recently put it back up for sale.

13. Kim Kardashian And Kanye West’s $20 Million Pacific View

Back in 2013, the power couple of Kim Kardashian and Kanye West bought themselves a massive $9 million home in Bel Air, California. With an incredible view of the Pacific Ocean, Kimye’s children have plenty of room to play and soak in the coastal sun. However, Kim and Kanye weren’t quite ready to move in. They’ve spent the past few years completing remodelling the 10,000 square-foot mansion. They reportedly dropped a ton more cash on renovating the entire mansion to better suit their wild styles, with upwards of about $20 million being spent! Just last year, without ever having moved in, they sold the now-completed mansion for $17.8 million, which is a record for a home sale in the Bel Air Crest community.

12. Simon Cowell’s $29 Million Beverly Hills Fortress

The American Idol star and British recording mogul owns his very own ultra-modern fortress in ritzy Beverly Hills, California. Simon Cowell originally purchased the pricey lot and had the home demolished to make way for his custom 9,335 square-foot mansion to be built. The mansion, which took five years to be built, cost $29 million, and had every detail supervised by Cowell. The 6-bedroom, 6-bathroom mansion features a state-of-the art theater, professional tanning salon, modern gym, spa and steam room, a solarium, a lap pool, and an exterior pool cabana with remote-activated retractable roof. He even added $1 million worth of state-of-the-art security features that would make James Bond jealous. These features are secret but it is known they include retina-style security scanners and fingerprint validation pads. It seems like Cowell thinks it’s better to be safe than sorry in case he’s ever rude to the wrong American Idol contestant.

11. Eddie Murphy’s $30 Million Record-Setting Mansion

Legendary funny man Eddie Murphy has earned quite a bit of Shrek Donkey money, and he decided to use a big portion of it on his home. He spent about $30 million of it on his lavish 32-room mansion in New Jersey (that comes out to almost $1 million a room!). His home purchase set the record for the most expensive property every sold in the area. Called “Bubble Hill,” this home features a private recording studio, a bowling alley, indoor pool, and marble fireplaces. Sitting on five acres, the home is so exclusive that Murphy tried to sell the mansion multiple times, with no takers. Finally, Grammy-winner Alicia Keys agreed to purchase the home for $12 million, a step down from what Murphy put in, but he’s not hurtin’.

10. Jerry Seinfeld’s $32 Million Hamptons Home

Actor, comedian, and producer Jerry Seinfeld never has to work again. He made enough money off his hit television sitcom “Seinfeld,” to just relax in luxury the rest of his life. There’s no place better to do that than in the exclusive Hamptons community in New York. Seinfeld dropped a cool $32 million on a mansion that includes such amenities as a pool, baseball field, guest house, and a custom-built garage big enough to comfortably fit his famously-large car collection (about 22 cars and growing!). Seinfeld bought the 12-acre East Hampton estate from the “Piano Man” himself, Billy Joel, years back. Seinfeld has referred to his Hamptons’ home as “laid-back.” Therefore, he and his wife Jessica had the home decorated with an eye on relaxation and a casual life. He specifically wanted nothing to remind him of formality.

9. Ellen DeGeneres And Portia De Rossi’s $40 Million Glass-Walled Castle

Daytime luminary Ellen DeGeneres and her wife, actress Portia De Rossi, had a beautiful Los Angeles home. Then they went out and sold it to primetime superstar Ryan Seacrest (see below). No worries, Ellen and Portia quickly bought themselves another striking 13,000 square-foot home in the Holmby Hills area of Los Angeles. Their new digs, called The Brody House for its original owners, philanthropist Sidney and Frances Brody, featured nine bathrooms, six bedrooms, a stunning glass-walled exterior, as well as its own tennis court. Their new home set the pair back a whopping sum of $39.8 million. In 2014, DeGeneres showed her real estate savvy and flipped this house as well, selling it to Napster founder and former Facebook president Sean Parker for $55 million! No worries; Ellen and Portia didn’t end up on the street. They quickly paid $16 million for a floor in the Beverly West building on Wilshire.

8. Rob Lowe’s $42 Million Georgian-Style Masterpiece

Actor Rob Lowe and his wife, actress Sheryl Berkoff, spent $42 million for this striking Georgian-style mansion in Santa Barbara, California, which looks more like a classic hotel than a home. His mansion includes a whopping twenty rooms with many master suites. The house is filled with many extras like a game room, custom gym, two guesthouses, four kitchens, and a resort-style pool. Lowe had a lot of input when he hired architects, designers, and landscapers to design and then build the mansion. He wanted it to fit a certain style: “A house also has to be comfortable, able to withstand the simultaneous traffic of teenagers playing football on the lawn, barbecuing on the patio, me slipping off to write.” A Virginia native, Lowe admits drawing inspiration from East Coast style when designing the home.

7. Jay-Z And Beyonce’s $1 Million Per Month Sandcastle

With a collective net worth of over a billion dollars, Jay-Z and Beyoncé can afford to live anywhere. They choose to spend their summers in a colossal mansion dubbed “Sandcastle.” Located in Bridgehampton, New York, the power couple rents this home to enjoy the privacy it affords them. The mansion has a master suite that is larger than most of our homes, measuring 2,800 square feet! The home is a staggering 31,000 square feet loaded full of amenities, such as a movie theater, a bowling alley, a walk-in refrigerator (yes, you read that right), a wine room, climbing wall, private gym, and a spa. Costing roughly $400,000 to $1 million a month to rent, Jay-Z should just go ahead and buy it as a gift for Beyoncé. The selling price is $43 million, which is a drop in the well when you’re Jay-Z.

6. Ryan Seacrest’s $49 Million Second-Hand Mansion

Previously owned by Ellen DeGeneres (remember, we mentioned it earlier), Ryan Seacrest bought this sprawling Beverly Hills mansion in 2012 for $49 million, one of the biggest real estate deals of the year for the area. This spacious property contains three guest houses, one of which has three large bedrooms of its own. The main house has nine bedrooms and twelve bathrooms, totalling 9,200 square feet. The entire property, sitting on three acres, includes two guesthouses and a separate three-bedroom house, as well a swimming pool and pond. The property even has its own private street. When Ellen bought the property in 2007, it only cost her $29 million. However, to expand the existing house into what it is today, she then purchased the two surrounding properties to construct the mammoth estate that Ryan owns today.

5. Tiger Woods’ $60 Million Jupiter Island Getaway

Tiger Woods might have down in the dumps after his very-public and expensive divorce from ex-wife Elin Nordegren; however, when he moved out of the home they previously shared, he soon had reason to cheer up. The golf superstar purchased an incredible $60 million home on Jupiter Island, Florida. As a golfer, you know the property has a beautiful green to hit a few balls around and he has a breathtaking view of the Atlantic Ocean from any room. The beautiful mansion has its own running track, a lap pool, a four-hole golf course, and a professional gym and sports complex on the grounds. The master bedroom also features its own his-and-her dual master bathrooms. His backyard is on the beach, with a private boat dock, while his front yard is only a block away from another beach (remember, he’s on an island!).

4. Brad Pitt And Angelina Jolie’s $61 Million French Chateau

When you’re a powerhouse Hollywood couple like Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, you can afford to live anywhere in the world you want. Already owning or renting homes all across the United States, the power duo decided instead to spend the majority of their time in France. They, along with their six children, purchased a spacious chateau in the South of France. The sprawling estate has tons of room, enough for all the kids to have their own space. The chateau features an incredible thirty-five rooms and sits on 1000 acres of beautiful land. Dubbed Chateau Miraval, it even has its own moat to keep intruders at bay, as well as a private spa, full gym, indoor and outdoor pools, a professional home theater, a state-of-the-art video game room, two helicopter pads, and a dirt bike course. Nice! The chateau set the couple back $61 million. The chateau went up for sale in 2016, as divorce loomed for the couple.

3. Oprah Winfrey’s $85 Million Promised Land

Now there are mansions and then there are MANSIONS, such as the one Oprah Winfrey owns. Oprah is the original Queen of Talk, thanks to the immensely successful Oprah Winfrey Show. As such, she is internationally accepted as not just rich, but downright wealthy. She easily ranks at the top of any list of celebrity estates. Oprah’s home, nicknamed by her as “The Promised Land,” sits on 42 acres of land in Montecito, California. The estate has six bedrooms, fourteen bathrooms, ten fireplaces, along with a rose garden, art gallery, state-of-the-art home theater, tea house, wine cellar, spacious guest house, a huge pool, and a barn. The whole home measures 23,000 square feet (not including the guest house), and recently went through a massive renovation, raising the value of the home to an estimated $85 million. Oh, we almost forgot to mention she had a man-made lake put in, fully-stocked with her unique collection of fish!

2. Bill Gates Ultra-Modern $147.5 Million Microsoft Mansion

Bill Gates is the founder of one of the most successful companies in the world, Microsoft. He also happens to be one of the richest men in the world (he is always #1 or #2). Regardless, the enormity of his success has allowed Gates to live in one of the most expensive homes in the United States. His home is located in Medina, Washington, and is valued in excess of $147.5 million! The exclusive home boasts many custom amenities alongside the basic like a swimming pool, bowling alley, well-stocked library, and not to mention his secure computer server room. Gates’ “smart house” even features custom pins that are given to guests at the house. These pins are used to adjust the temperature of the rooms, the lighting, the music, just about anything to the guests’ liking. Wow!

1. Aaron Spelling’s $150 Million Manor

Aaron Spelling was a famous television producer, probably the most successful in the United States, with hits including Dynasty, Charlie’s Angels, Beverly Hills, 90210, and Charmed. As such, he chose to publicize his enormous success by building what is probably the most expensive celebrity home in the world, at a price of $150 million! Known as “The Spelling Manor,” or now simply “The Manor,” the French chateau-style mansion features 123 rooms and is an unbelievable 56,500 square-feet. It sits on 4.6 acres of land in the Holmby Hills neighborhood of Los Angeles, California. Spelling had it built in 1988 and it is the largest home in Los Angeles County. It features amenities such as four garages, three kitchens, a swimming pool, a modern gym, a skating rink, a bowling alley, an orchard, and a tennis court. It even featured an entire wing of the house devoted to his wife Candy’s wardrobe! After Spelling’s passing in 2006, The Manor was sold to British heiress Petra Stunt, though she has since listed the home for sale (it is rumored that Jay-Z and Beyonce are very interested).
