Stranger Things posted a video of the Season 4 table read, revealing who will be returning for the new season in the process.

Season three of Stranger Things took the massively popular Netflix original to the next level in 2019. It also seemed as if we had lost one of the members of the much-loved cast. Jim Hopper appeared to be blown to smithereens in the season finale. However, teasers for the upcoming season have revealed that not to be the case.

The second of two trailers released so far reveals Hopper, presumably in Russia working on a railroad. That's about all that has been revealed about the new season so far, although in fairness to the show's creators, it probably isn't that far along when it comes to production. Season three only hit Netflix last summer.

This week, fans got another glimpse into what they can expect in the coming season. Stranger Things posted a grainy video of the season four table read on Twitter. It doesn't feature any footage of the stars reading important plot points, of course, but it does reveal who will be returning for season four. Seems as if everyone of note will be back, providing they didn't bite the dust never to return in season three (sorry billy).

Perhaps most interesting of all is what a table read typically tends to mean for the production of a TV show or movie. In a lot of cases, it's at this point the cast discovers what lies ahead for their characters. There's a famous clip of Kit Harrington and Emilia Clarke during the table read of the final season of Game of Thrones when the actors first discover that Jon kills Daenerys.

We sincerely hope there will be no such betrayals in season four of Stranger Things. Our main concern at this point is that it will be the last time we pay a visit to Hawkins, Indiana. Between the cast getting older and Demagorgons being fought off yet again, despite the show's continued popularity, we can't imagine it will be one that lasts indefinitely. We would hate to see it carry on for too long and outstay its welcome.
