Celeb moms seem to have a way of bouncing back from their post-baby bodies, while the rest of us say goodbye to any part of us that was firm. These power-packed divas achieve results most 20-somethings could only dream of… and this after passing a human through their bodies, and in only a fraction of the time.
The queen bee, Beyonce, is a mother to 3, of which 2 are twins. That’s right, the goddess of pop carried not one, but two babies – yet she looks better than ever. Even when she was still carrying a bit of baby weight, Jay-Z couldn’t keep his hands off her insane curves. One might be surprised to learn that the star does not, in fact, ‘wake up like this’, but works extremely hard to succumb to the standards that the entertainment industry demands. Though she be curvy, she be muscle.
Beyonce breaks a sweat several times a week, her go to workouts include SoulCycle and of course, dancing. Rumour has it she became addicted to fitness after birthing the twins. Her plan, prepared by her very own personal chef, is mostly vegan. She practices strict portion control and is very health conscious.
Although she is a queen, she is but one of many super gorgeous celebrities who have bared their toned bits soon after delivering. Below are 20 other hot celeb moms who are winning at life.
20 Blake Lively
The 30-year-old starlet, famous for her roles in The Sisterhood of The Travelling Pants and the teen drama Gossip Girl admits that the shape she had to achieve soon after childbirth is not normal by any standards, let alone for a new mom. A mere 8 months after giving birth to her daughter, James (hey, at least it’s not Moonray Firelight), she had to be in tip-top shape for her role in The Shallows. Fair enough, her character is scantily clad for the majority of the movie, but realistically the results are nearly impossible.
Blake needed 2 personal trainers and a nutritionist to assist her on her journey to perfection. She does not, however, endorse this kind of pressure, “new mothers should focus on their babies and should not put themselves under pressure to lose weight so quickly, it was my job to look that way.”
The Columbian singer and songwriter lost 10cm in just 8 weeks after giving birth to her second child, Sasha. Her workouts and food plan were designed by Anna Kaiser and she rather enjoyed the AKTinMotion programme. She devoted herself to 60-90 minute interval workouts a day and her favorite move is apparently a jackknife on a treadmill.
Shakira swears by clean, healthy food and eats small meals throughout the day to keep her metabolism up. Although curvy, it is most likely all muscle! Her typical daily eating plan includes Ezekiel bread with avo in the morning, coconut water, and protein supplements for a snack, salad and lean protein at lunch, melon or jerky as a snack and steak and vegetables for dinner. All is not lost, though – she loves herself some dark chocolate for dessert! (We knew those hips didn’t lie!)
18 Kourtney Kardashian
Socialite Kourtney Kardashian has mothered 3 children, and at the age of 38 still looks better than the average college student. After her third child, she lost 14 pounds. She strictly excludes sugar, gluten, and dairy from her meal plan. She even makes her own salad dressing, to avoid all the hidden preservatives found in most packaged foods.
She concentrates on her glutes and butt toning (like we didn’t notice). Banded leg kickbacks and weighted squats with kettlebells help her achieve her shapely figure. She also tries to combine family with fitness by having family workouts. She religiously drinks her apple cider vinegar on a daily basis, eats only organic produce and (this is probably one of the weirdest tricks yet), drinks ghee every morning!
17 Gisele Bundchen
This supermodel wins serious brownie points for her determination. Some of her go-to moves include planking and pushups (those will get you sweating) and believes that when your body cannot push any harder, you should focus on something else until you push through. Tough as nails she is - eating 80% organic food and cutting out white sugar, white flour, gluten, msg, vegetable oils and iodized salt.
The 37-year-old mother of 2, ensures that she works out at least an hour every day and enjoys to mix it up. Her favorite activities include yoga, wai tai, kungfu, cycling, pilates, surfing, horseback riding and Brazilian Marshall arts (step aside, boys… mamma’s home). She also avoids drinking alcohol and swears by lukewarm lemon water every morning.
16 Victoria Beckham
Mother of four, owner of a fashion line and make-up collection and wife to David Beckham, yet Victoria hasn’t aged a day since her days as Posh Spice. She admits that she is a bit of a control freak, and works out for 2 hours every morning. She follows an alkaline plan, which includes a lot of fruits and vegetables and excludes wheat, dairy, eggs, peanuts, walnuts, fish, shellfish, fat, and sugar. It is a very high disciplined plan, perfect for Victoria, who strives to be perfect at everything she does.
She has admitted to having a disorder in the early Spice Girl days when they were under pressure to be thin. She blames Geri Halliwell who encouraged her to go running and take liquid meal supplements. The star seems to have risen from the ashes as she and David celebrate their 18th anniversary this year.
15 Jessica Alba
We have heard of drastic measures to save the post-baby bulge, but this American actress took it to new levels! Alba admitted to wearing 2 girdles for 3 months straight after the birth of her second child. The double corset was worn day and night to train her waist back into shape. The petite beauty also wrote a book, ‘The Honest Life’ and owns The Honest Company which is dedicated to selling eco-friendly products.
She has personal trainers that design her workout routines, some of her favorites being spin classes and yoga. Furthermore, she follows a macrobiotic plan (whole grains, vegetables, and beans are the mainstays of the plan) which fights inflammation and has been said to prevent disease. We doubt she has anything to worry about, her 5’7” 123lbs depicts the very picture of health.
14 Megan Fox
The 31-year-old vixen has appeal for days, and it is hard to believe she has mothered 3 sons! Megan Fox posed for a Fredericks lingerie shoot a mere 5 months after the birth of her youngest, Journey. She makes no excuses though and admits that the struggle with the whole thing was an awful journey, “being over 31 I had to work out extra hard this time, I normally bounce back quite easily but this time was more like a crawl back…”
The bombshell follows a strict plan, “I’ve had to eliminate bread from my diet, so I’m on that high-protein, very low-carbohydrate, very low-sugar diet.” Her personal trainer, Harley Pasternak, was by her side throughout her pregnancy too, and they ensured that she continued her workouts, but ensuring for the safety of the baby.
13 Scarlett Johansson
Voluptuous curves, porcelain skin, bedroom eyes and delicious lips… these are the images conjured up when one hears the name ‘Scarlett Johansson’. Even after having her daughter, Rose, she still turns heads. Scarlett claims that feeding naturally has been a lifesaver on her journey back to her pre-baby body. She also follows a mostly vegan eating plan and is very disciplined when it comes to her workout routine.
The 33-year-old beauty claims that her workout routine hasn’t really changed since giving birth, but that finding the time to go has become a challenge. She incorporates a lot of strength, stability, and endurance training and when she really doesn’t feel like breaking a sweat, she tries even harder, “once you’re in a daily routine it's easy, but once you slack it’s very difficult to get back on track.”
12 Jenna Dewan Tatum
Jenna has been a dancer all her life, so it’s safe to say that her pre-baby body put her in good stead to carry a human without doing too much damage, that being said, she did gain 33lbs during her pregnancy. Thankfully she lost it all after. One of the downfalls of being relatively short (5’2”) is that one can easily see the gain.
The star swears by a vegan lifestyle and works out 3 to 5 times a week, including a 30-minute dance warm-up before each workout (um, that is practically a full workout for an average human). Once she knew that she was with child, she immediately contacted her personal trainer, Jen Johnson, who designed a workout routine for her. “Workouts would help regulate my hormones, I would even do lunges and squats whilst rocking my baby to sleep.”
11 Katie Holmes
The Dawson’s Creek icon is now divorced and a proud mom of an 11-year-old daughter (let this sink in for a minute). Post-baby, she immediately went on a 30-day detox and she has since religiously followed a Paleo (otherwise known as the caveman) plan. In order to sustain her body and her baby, she ensured to take the necessary supplements.
Katie is a bit of a fitness freak and loves running and cycling at least 4 times a week. Then she adds Bikram Yoga to the mix (at 105 degrees)… talk about breaking a sweat! Her average meals include oat flakes and an apple for breakfast, carrot soup and broccoli for lunch, lettuce or tomato (we can’t have both???) for dinner with some tofu or fish. But wait, she does splurge on 2 to 3 cappuccinos a day.
10 Sandra Bullock
Although she adopted her two children, Sandra has managed to stay in tip-top shape. The 53-year-old is both slim and tall. Her secrets include saying no to bread, pasta, white rice, crisps, and sweets, she does, however, allow for 1 cheat day a week as she doesn’t believe in depriving herself.
Bullock’s secret weapon is her personal trainer, Simone De La Rue who owns Body By Simone. Her underlying technique is derived from dance and incorporates high intensity and strength training using her own body weight. Sandra’s other favorite activities include yoga, cardio, kickboxing, and hiking.
9 Jennifer Lopez
The star of the hit single “If you had my love” is now a 48-year-old mother of twins. Since owning her fame, singer J-Lo has furthered her career in acting, dancing and fashion design too. J-Lo has always been known for her athletic, curvy figure. Even after carrying twins she still manages to drape herself in skin-tight ensembles. The beauty gained took a year to regain her perfect figure.
Her personal trainer, Tracy Anderson had her ready for a triathlon only 6 months after birthing her twins! She has also launched her own health brand, BodyLab, and drinks her supplements daily, her favorites being BodyLab Metabolise and BodyLab shakes. Britney also followed the Nutrisystem plan for a while, a shake for breakfast and lunch, then protein and vegetables for dinner.
Even though the star has a luxurious life with access to nutritionists and personal trainers, she is still a mother at home. She loves making spaghetti, brownies and chocolate chip cookies for her family, “I follow a 1500 calorie a day diet, and really have to stop myself from eating the cookie dough.” Britney also let it slip that she would like to have a baby girl in future.
7 Kate Hudson
Petite beauty Kate Hudson used to have her mother Goldie Hawn pry ice cream away from her, claiming she had had enough to last a lifetime. Kate claims that losing it was an absolute emotional rollercoaster, “there is a lot of emotion in mass, and no matter how hard you work or how determined you are, it will be an emotional experience.”
Kate sticks to a rigorous plan, as she refuses to deprive herself. She ensures that she works out every day, even though she doesn’t have a strict workout plan and saves her fruits or sweets for a post-workout snack. She enjoys hot yoga and cardio, but her go-to’s are Brazilian Butt Lifts, “it’s just really, really concentrating on your core and your butt.”
6 Natalie Portman
Actress, film director, and film producer Natalie Portman is known for her graceful role in Black Swan, where she only weight 98lbs (20lbs less than her average weight). The 5’3” knockout admits that the ballet industry standards are very tough, “I had to work out 8 hours a day, it was insane.” Now a mother of two, Natalie has maintained her petite figure and healthy stature.
She follows a vegan lifestyle but reverted back to vegetarianism whilst pregnant to ensure extra nutrition. She believes that health starts within the home and prefers to cook herself. She also likes to combine workouts with family time and will go for runs and hikes with her brood. Yoga is one of her go-to workouts. Although she follows a healthy lifestyle, she believes that one should eat when hungry.
5 Cindy Crawford
Idol of the model industry Cindy Crawford in is now 51 years old and the mother of 2. Cindy gave herself a year to get back to her average body type, “a new mother’s focus should be her baby, not to lose weight. It took 9 months to gain that body and it should take at least 9 months to coach it back to a healthy weight.” The classic beauty admits to craving pizza throughout her pregnancy and she will also use any excuse to get out of running.
Her workouts are a combination of 20 minutes of cardio and 20 minutes of free weights and she ensures to stick to her routine at least 3 times a week, she prefers to keep it old school. She also enjoys hiking in the hills on weekends and cycling with her family. She also starts her days with a smoothie, “Before I start my day, I always have a home-made smoothie with spinach, almond milk, half a banana, protein powder, raw cacao and fresh mint.”
4 Reese Witherspoon
Legally Blond bombshell Reese really battled to bounce back to her pre-baby body, “it gets more difficult with age, you need to be kind to yourself and take the time you need.” Yet even with three kids, her oldest being 18 (um, were we not just about that age when we idolized her?) she looks barely legal herself! She even won a Grace Kelly Award for being a role model celeb parent… beauty and brains!
Reese credits her good looks to her Glowing Green Smoothie by Kim Snyder and follows the Body By Simone programme. She also loves going for a run and doing regular yoga. She recently found herself drawn to Burn 60 Fitness studio as she has been tried for time whilst filming A Wrinkle in Time.

She followed the 3-2-1 Baby Bulge Be Gone programme five times a week and followed a balanced eating plan, very low in sugar.
Apart from being a celebrity, Berry loves to cook and even has her own vegetable patch. Some of her favorite meals include really simple but healthy choices like tuna and garlic mashed potatoes. She cuts back on red meat and on fruit and tries to manage her diabetes with eating four meals a day.
2 Christina Aguilera
We all remember that time that Christina's look changed. We might even have liked her a little more. She is known for her fluctuations and has admitted to finding comfort in food at times. Soon after the birth of her first child and her divorce, she packed some thickness on.
She soon found that she was being pressured to lose it all, but let’s be honest, she has one of the best voices of our times…curves couldn’t stop her from stealing the limelight. She managed to lose some by following a program which cuts out sugar and restricts intake to 1600 calories a day. Christina doesn’t take too much notice of the media though, “I’ve been criticized for being on both sides of the scale. It’s noise I block out automatically. I love my body.”
1 Elizabeth Hurley
Elizabeth Hurley, star of Bedazzled has a very controversial approach to staying in shape. She claims that skipping breakfast has been her secret! She fills up with mugs of hot water and has a mid-morning snack of oatcakes. After the birth of her only son, she ate nothing but oatcakes. The 52-year-old star has also tried some crazy plans such as the watercress soup plans, and a plan where she was only eating one meal a day. All is not lost though, she would allow herself a snack of 6 raisins a day.
Liz routinely does things like this and is quite public about it. In contrast to her usual mission to be skinny, she admits that being too skinny when aging isn’t necessarily a good thing, ‘I keep my eye on what I eat all the time because now that we’re older we have to make a conscious decision if we want to stay relatively slim… But as you get older, it doesn’t actually look that attractive to be super skinny.’
