David Beckham has been Adidas’ celebrity endorser since 1996 with his signature Predator style selling millions of units worldwide.
In his last match of his 20 year football career prior to his retirement, Beckham teamed up with Adidas to create a historic footwear design for the momentous event. Unlike his other equipment, the personalized footwear will not be available for sale to the public.
During his final home match for PSG with a 3-1 win over Brest, he sported customized Predator Lethal Zone boots in patriotic red white and blue boots, the colors of his home country, the UK. It paid homage to his nationality having the UK flag embossed on the heel. The cleats also have the names of his children and initials of his wife Victoria. It also has his jersey numbers: #7 from Manchester United, #23 from Real Madrid and the Los Angeles Galaxy and #32 from Paris St.-Germain .
In a statement, Adidas said, “David has proven himself to be an exemplary human being and a fantastic role model. His humanitarian work with countless charities has been awe-inspiring and over the years we have seen him develop from a sporting icon to a truly inspirational role model. All the while he has conducted himself in a humble, warm, accommodating and moral fashion.”
His family was also with him as they watched his last match. It was reported that PSG offered him another year of contract extension for £165 million but Beckham turned down the offer and opted to maintain his record as the first British player to win four league titles.
