Second Baseman Robinson Cano Seeking $305 Million Contract

All Star Second Baseman Robinson Cano of the New York Yankees is seeking a whopping 10 year $305 million contract. If Cano were to receive this extension, it would match the total value of Alex Rodriguez's contract if he were to meet every included incentive.

However, it appears that the Yankees and Cano are far apart on agreeing to a new deal. It has been reported that the Yankees have made two offers to Cano worth between $131 million and $168 million. Although Cano is a five-time All Star who has averaged 28 home runs and 102 RBI's to go with a .309 career batting average. Despite these gaudy statistics, it remains to be seen whether Cano will receive the contract offer he desires. Given that All-Star second baseman Dustin Pedroia was given an extension valued at $110 million over eight years with similar stats it is hard to imagine a team shelling out over $300 million to Cano. If Cano does not back off his demands it is virtual lock that he will not be back in pinstripes next season. With the offseason fast approaching, it will only be a matter of time till we learn if Cano is given a contract worth more than $300 million.
