Ryan Tannehill enjoyed a comeback season for the ages with the Tennessee Titans, leading them all the way to the AFC Championship Game -- where they eventually fell 35-24 to the Kansas City Chiefs.
For his efforts, Tannehill recorded an impressive $3.5 million in incentives, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. In comparison, the Titans only had to pay $1.75 million to Tannehill in base salary after he was acquired in an offseason trade with the Miami Dolphins.
Per Rapoport, Tannehill's incentives included $250,000 for staying on the 46-man roster for 13 contests. He earned $1 million after recording "a rating of better than 96.0."
On top of that, he earned "100,000 in each of the 10 games during the season that he participated in more than 50 percent of the plays." Tannehill played 10 games for the Titans, bringing the total up to $1 million.
Other incentives ultimately brought the total all the way up to $3.42 million for the 31-year-old veteran. Rapoport noted that his total pay for 2020 -- from both Miami and Tennessee -- up to $10.25 million.
Tannehill took over for struggling starter Marcus Mariota in Week 6. The Titans never looked back, winning seven of their final 10 games to nab the final wild card spot in the AFC.

The rebuilding Dolphins traded Tannehill to the Titans last offseason, thus providing quality insurance behind the inconsistent Mariota. Little did anybody know that it would turn out to be one of the most impactful trades in recent memory.
In the regular season, Tannehill completed 70.3 percent of his passes for 2,742 yards and 22 touchdowns against only six interceptions. Tennessee then upset the defending Super Bowl champion New England Patriots in the Wild Card Round, followed by an upset over likely MVP Lamar Jackson and his Baltimore Ravens in the Divisional Round.
Tannehill and superstar running back Derrick Henry are pending free agents, but the Titans will most certainly do all they can to retain both. These two revived a 2-4 teams and got them to within a game of reaching the Super Bowl, after all.
