Jeopardy!, the iconic American game show, has brought in a greater following than two of the country's most prominent and beloved sporting events during its "The Greatest of All Time" tournament.

The tournament pits Ken Jennings against James Holzhauer and Brad Rutter. The GOAT showdown is being used as a way to determine who the greatest Jeopardy competitor is of all-time.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, the Jeopardy! GOAT tournament has netted "close to 15 million viewers in same-day ratings." The third round of the tournament brought in 15.55 million.

The report from the Hollywood Reporter also outlined that the tournament has brought in higher ratings than Games 1-4 of last year's NBA Finals. The Toronto Raptors defeated the Golden State Warriors in six games to win their first NBA Championship. Liz Roscher of Yahoo Sports noted that noted that those first four games "averaged 13.54 million viewers."

Not only that, but the GOAT showdown has also netted better television numbers than the first five contests of the 2019 World Series, which pitted the Washington Nationals against the Houston Astros.

The series went the distance, with the Nats winning it all in the decisive seventh game. Per Roscher, the first five games of the thrilling Fall Classic hauled in an average of 11.59 million. But the ratings, compared to more recent World Series showdowns, were disappointingly low.

But the main story here is how strong the ratings have been for Jeopardy!. Jennings leads the competition with two points so far, while his two opponents have each recorded one. The winner will take home a grand prize of $1 million.

Jennings has been widely regarded as the all-time best in the game show's history, having won 74 straight games. He's inching closer and closer to winning the GOAT tournament which would help him cement his case even more, although Holzhauer and Rutter will have a lot to say about it.
