8 Things Hulk Hogan Wants You To Forget (And 8 To Remember)

There may not have been a wrestler who personified the world of wrestling in a bigger and more impactful way than Hulk Hogan.

There may not have been a wrestler who personified the world of wrestling in a bigger and more impactful way than Terry Bollea, better known as Hulk Hogan. But Hogan's career has had so many blackmarks held against him, that he literally isn't currently in the Hall of Fame.

If you grew up loving Hogan, as we know millions did, this list is probably going to do a negative number on your childhood. Serious allegations have been thrown the Hulkster's way over the past few years. Including from former superstar The Ultimate Warrior, who claimed Hogan would pass his wife Linda around the locker-room in order to score drugs. Though that may not be as awful to read about as the claims from Linda herself, who stated Hogan was physically and emotionally abusive.

Hogan's family is also no stranger to the spotlight, but it's his racist comments about his daughter's boyfriend that perhaps did the most damage to his legacy; not to mention a horrific car crash caused by his son that had ramifications that are still being felt today.

Don't get too sad though, as we also try to save Hogan's image by pointing out 8 things Hogan would want you to know. Whether the accomplishments were in the ring, such as his back-to-back Royal Rumble wins, or out of it like his contributions to helping Native American youth. It won't completely save his image, but it'll help!

16 Forget - His Racist Comments That Got Him Fired

Hulk Hogan's life imploded back in July 2015 when a 2007 video surfaced that featured him making racist comments emerged.

In the video, Hogan openly discussed the black son of a billionaire in the music industry who was reportedly getting close to Brooke, saying, "I don't know if Brooke was f**king the black guy's son... I mean, I don't have double standards. I mean, I am a racist, to a point, f**king n****rs. But then when it comes to nice people and s**t, and whatever. I mean, I'd rather if she was going to f**k some n****r, I'd rather have her marry an 8-foot-tall n****r worth a hundred million dollars! Like a basketball player! I guess we're all a little racist. F***king n****r."

These comments led to his removal from the WWE Hall of Fame, as well as a permanent black mark on the life of Hogan.

15 Remember - Triple H Wants Him Back

It's going to be very easy to make negative judgments towards Hulk Hogan if you only focus on the negatives that are peppered throughout this list. But if it is any consolation, one man who knew him well, Paul Levesque (aka Triple H) has been optimistic in the past to the idea of Hogan restoring his name

"For me, I hope so. It's about reinvigorating his brand and him as a human being and the confidence within the world, as to who he is. But the one thing about people, in general, is when somebody's on top, they want to see them fall, and when they fall, they want to see them make that comeback."

Perhaps the company is just waiting for the timing to be right!

14 Forget - His Failed Movies

You can imagine that many up and coming wrestlers are going to be looking to Dwayne Johnson for inspiration as to how to manage your career. After all, he's definitely made far more money from movies than by putting his body through hell in the ring.

He's not the first WWE star to try his hand at Hollywood. But Hogan would probably you not focus on his failed film career. While he did get several cracks at it, his 1992 film Mr. Nanny all but put the nail in the coffin for Hogan's Hollywood dreams. The movie made under $5 million and ranks at under 10% on Rotten Tomatoes. Not to mention shattering his tough guy image for many fans.

13 Remember - He Won The Royal Rumble Twice Back To Back

Hulk Hogan had many accomplishments in the WWE. But one of his biggest may be the fact that he won the Royal Rumble not only once, but twice. And if that wasn't impressive enough, he did it on back to back years; accomplishing the feat in 1990 and again in 1991.

The 1990 win at the Rumble led to an unforgettable match at WrestleMania 6 between Hogan and Warrior that ultimately saw Warrior come out on top. Hogan was more successful in 1991, winning both the Rumble again but this time ending WrestleMania on top after defeating Sgt. Slaughter for the title.

12 Forget - His Failed Marriage And Assault Allegations

Hulk Hogan had an explosive divorce from his wife Linda. The two had been together for over two decades, but as their marriage dissolved, Linda wrote an autobiography to put Hogan in hot water. She accused him of being both physically and mentally abusive, including an incident where he choked her. Hulk openly denies these claims:

"When we were going through the divorce, and she was with her 18-year-old boyfriend if I even was in the same town with her … she would file charges that I looked at her the wrong way at a red light and wanted to have me put in jail. So if I beat her up for 23 years, why didn't we talk about this at the divorce? And why, all of a sudden, is it coming out now when her book's come out?"

True or not, you have to admit it doesn't paint Hogan in the best light.

11 Remember - He Co-Founded The Dreamseekers Foundation

Hulk Hogan contributed a lot to this world through his talents in the ring. But there is no question that he must be immensely proud of what he has done for this world outside of it as well. This includes his work to co-found the Dreamseekers Foundation which works to recognize exceptionally talented students that are Native American and offer them potential opportunities to succeed.

When talking about his role with the foundation, Hogan stated, "American Indian children are more likely to live in poverty than any other racial r ethnic group in this country. It’s time to change that, and I’m proud to be associated with that effort."

10 Forget - He Allegedly Pimped Linda Out

Wait...what? That's the claim made by Ultimate Warrior who went off on Hulk Hogan in a scathing interview. The comments made alleged that Hogan would trade his now ex-wife Linda around the locker room in order to receive cocaine or other types of dope.

It's a pretty big claim to make, but it's one that has been reported nevertheless. With shade like that being thrown around, you can also understand why the two may not have been on the best of terms as they got older. Sadly, with Warrior's passing, we'll never get any follow-up to the story, but perhaps a wrestler who took part in the action will come forward and offer more details!

9 Remember - He May Be A Terrible Person, But He Still Slammed Andre

We're going to apologize if this list overall leaves you with a negative impression of the Hulkster. But if you do want to look back fondly at his career, how do you not talk about his infamous slamming of Andre the Giant at WrestleMania 3?

It's arguably the moment of Hulkamania.

While it was obviously pre-determined that Hulk was to win, Hulk admitted later that he did not know if Andre would allow him to; stating that Andre was in a very bad mood that night and had grown frustrated with the world of wrestling and the chronic pain it had inflicted on his back.

8 Forget - The Tape Scandal

Normally when you hear about a celebrity having their bedroom life violated and videos or photos being released, it's a woman. But the footage of Hulk Hogan getting intimate with Heather Clem ended up being one of the biggest cases in Hollywood's history.

Adding intrigue to the story was the releasing of the tape on Gawker without the consent of Hogan. A decision that later cost the website tens of millions in damages and ultimately put them out of business. Also adding interest to the story was the fact that Clem was married to one of Hogan's friends who was allegedly into the idea.

When talking about the ramifications of the tape, Hogan said, “I just haven’t felt like myself… this is still tearing me up. I haven’t been able to get back up to who I was before [the tape]… I’m not the same person I was since all this craziness happened. I thought I had my life together again. I was moving forward, and then this tape totally sabotaged me again. It flipped my world completely upside down. I had a really hard time functioning."

7 Remember - He WAS In The Hall Of Fame

After Hulk's racist comments that are also on this list, the company made a quick and swift removal of any presence of Hogan. But when talking back in 2015, Hogan admitted that the Hall of Fame ring that he received in 2005 was the highlight of his career. You may also find it interesting that despite his removal from the Hall, he has made sure to hold on to the ring.

The importance of the honor to Hogan makes it all the more tragic (at least in his eyes) that he no longer has a presence there, but for his benefit, we thought we'd at least point out that he thought it was his career high.

6 Forget - People Think He's Creepy With His Daughter

If Hulk Hogan was listing off the things that mattered the most to him in his life, we're sure his family would be one of the top things. But Hogan would absolutely wish that photos like this one, of applying suntan lotion to his daughter Brooke, were deleted from the internet.

Many people have attacked Brooke and Hulk's relationship as being "too close", which definitely has upset the family; to the extent that Brooke defended their closeness on social media. We're glad Brooke has the support of her father, but the two will definitely be looking for the paparazzi the next time they step out together.

5 Remember - His Contributions To WCW

Hulk Hogan came to fame due in part to the help of Vince McMahon. But there was a significant portion of his career where Hogan's popularity was being fuelled by the wrestling federation WCW. Several historic moments came out of this run, including the creating of the infamous nWo stable that remains today the source of many people's fond memories.

Hogan's arrival in the WCW was also something of legends, as he literally had a ticker tape parade in his honor. WCW may not have lasted as long as they had hoped, but it's hard to deny that Hogan must have loved the popularity that continued throughout this stage of his career.

4 Forget - He Cheated On Linda (Several Times)

Linda Hogan had many complaints to list off against Hulk Hogan. And along with saying that he was physically and emotionally abusive, Linda also claimed that Hogan was often unfaithful.

"I tolerated my ex-husband’s infidelity for way too long; you have to live with the lies, the cheating, and the hidden agenda. They’re not going to tell you they’re having an affair, so you don’t know why your marriage is falling apart."

Linda went on to say, "The first time that I realized (the infidelity) it was ten years into the marriage. Sadly enough, I forgave him and thought maybe we’d have a second chance at it and he would never do that again. He apologized. I trusted his word, believing everything he said, but I shouldn’t have.”

3 Remember - His Reality Show

We're not going to let Hogan completely escape his work in movies and television without razzing on him a little bit, but we do need to give him credit for Hogan Knows Best. The series did manage to run for over 40 episodes, which isn't too bad as far as reality shows are concerned.

It also greatly raised the popularity of his daughter Brooke who also managed to have her own, albeit less successful, reality show. And considering the reality show was filmed when Hulk still had a 'healthy marriage' to Linda, we're sure he also wouldn't mind the audience remembering that side of him and not the abusive asshole he gets painted by Linda during his divorce.

2 Forget - His Son's Car Accident

When it comes to accomplishments in this world, one of the biggest is raising children the right way. Which means Hulk must be embarrassed by the horrific car accident caused by his son in 2007. While slightly under the influence, Nick Hogan began drag racing some of his friends.

He lost control of the car and in the process, caused irreparable brain damage to his friend John Graziano who still requires 24/7 care. Nick opened up about the accident in 2010, saying

"John’s my brother, we practically lived together and I just remember finding out about how bad everything was. It’s still hard for me to think about it. I pray every day that I will be able to deal with it. It’s still at this point it’s too much to think about. It’s something that I carry with me every day."

1 Remember - He's Now In A Healthy Relationship

Trust us when we say this list is not going to paint Hogan in a good way when it comes to his relationship with his now ex-wife Linda Hogan. The two divorced in 2009 and by 2010, Hogan was walking down the aisle again with Jennifer McDaniel.

But if we're going to read all the ugliness, you'll be happy to know that Hogan is in a far better place now. “My marriage to Linda was very toxic and very negative. Jennifer is just the opposite, she doesn’t drink or get high on drugs. If you’re in my home and watching TV, you have to watch the science channel or the history channel or cartoons. She doesn’t watch anything negative like the news or TMZ. She doesn’t read the newspaper. She always walks in the Spirit of Christ, she never deviates," said Hogan when talking to Pop Tarts (seriously, they're the ones who got the interview rights).
