There is a popular quote that states that "age is just a number," and over the past few decades, the superstars who make up the wrestling business have proved just how true that quote really is. Even though there have already been three major wrestling breakups in 2018, all of the couples on this list have been able to overcome the odds and still remain together. Some of the strangest couples have been able to come together and make their relationships and marriages work despite huge age gaps. A relationship in the spotlight can be hard for any couple to contend with, and recently the breakdown of Nikki Bella and John Cena's relationship has shown the kind of pressure these stars are under, which is why it's such a shock that some of these unions have lasted.

It's hard to imagine how many of these couples first met and bonded considering that in some cases there are partners who are more than a generation older than their spouse. It appears that all of these couples have found a way to make it work and despite some small hiccups at the beginning of their relationships, all of the couples on the following list are still going strong.

The following list looks at just 15 current wrestling couples that have the biggest age gaps. Despite these age gaps some of these couples have been married for a number of years and have somehow been able to defy all of their doubters along the way.

JoJo Offerman And Bray Wyatt - 7 Years

Bray Wyatt was married to Samantha Rotunda when he first started his career in WWE, but it was revealed by The Sun in the spring of last year that Wyatt's wife of five years was divorcing him because he was said to have been close to WWE ring announcer JoJo Offerman.

Offerman came into WWE as part of the 2013 WWE Diva Search and after winning the competition, she appeared in the first season of Total Divas.

The youngster then decided to drop out of being part of the series and look at a career as part of WWE's announce team instead. She has since been promoted to the point where she announces the company's flagship show and is in a relationship with former WWE Champion Bray Wyatt. Before her relationship with Wyatt was made public, JoJo was linked to Justin Gabriel, Randy Orton and Jake Carter, who is a former NXT Superstar and the son of wrestling legend Big Van Vader. The couple has definitely had to overcome a lot of issues in their short relationship, including the fact that Wyatt is actually seven years older that Offerman, who is just 24 years old. The former leader of the Wyatt Family just celebrated his 31st birthday.

Bret Hart And Stephanie Washington – 26 Years

One of the biggest legends of the wrestling business will always be known as "The Best There Is, The Best There Was and The Best There Ever Will Be." Bret Hart changed the face of the wrestling business throughout the time he was in the ring, but it appears that his personal life wasn't as successful. Bret married his first wife Julie back in 1960 and the couple had four children together, but they decided to file for divorce back in 2002 after more than forty years of marriage. The couple originally separated in 1998 and tried to work on their marriage for four years before they decided to divorce.

Bret moved on to marry Cinzia Rota back in 2004, but their marriage didn't last long because the couple couldn't decide on where they wanted to live, so they divorced in 2007. Bret married his current wife Stephanie Washington back in 2010 and over the past eight years, Stephanie has supported him through some of the toughest parts of his life.

This includes being diagnosed with prostate cancer, which he revealed on his Facebook page back in 2016. Washington is just 34 years old, while her husband turns 61 this summer, but that hasn't affected the couple at all over the past decade.

Cathy Kelley And Finn Balor - 7 Years

Finn Balor has become a firm fan favorite over the past few years, ever since he was known as Prince Devitt on the Independent Circuit. The former NXT Champion has definitely gained many more female fans over the past few years since he was crowned the inaugural Universal Champion back at SummerSlam in 2016 but it appears that he only has eyes for one woman.

Balor and Cathy Kelley havr yet to confirm that they are in a relationship publicly as Balor attempts to shield his new girlfriend from the abuse that the WWE Universe will subject her to if they find out that their relationship is official. Kelley works for WWE as their social media correspondent where she is often spotted on their YouTube channel, but she is still only 29 years old, which means that the former Champion is seven years older than Kelley, since he is 36.

The only real confirmation that the WWE Universe has about the couple's relationship is that X-Pac mentioned the two were together in an interview with The Tomorrow Show back in January. Kelley herself has dropped a number of hints on Social Media about the relationship but more than a year after the rumors began, the popular couple have yet to confirm their romance.

Jerry Lawler And Lauryn McBride – 39 Years

Jerry Lawler has been one of the voices of WWE for the past few decades and is best known as Jim Ross's commentary partner. Lawler has earned himself quite the reputation when it comes to his personal life throughout his career since he has dated a number of women who were younger than him.

His current relationship with Lauryn McBride has been brought to the spotlight in recent years after it was reported by USA Today that both stars were arrested after a fight in 2016. This arrest saw WWE take Lawler off commentary and suspend him, but when the charges were dropped WWE brought him back to TV but they didn't give him his regular position behind the announce table back. Lawler has been married three times before, but despite dating for a number of years, the couple hasn't decided to marry yet.

With almost four decades between them, its obvious that there are issues for the couple every now and then and they definitely turn a number of heads, but age is just a number and since the two have remained together for this long. It's likely that their relationship could be much deeper than their ages can determine.

Mandy Rose And Tino Sabbatelli - 8 Years

Mandy Rose was one of the thousands of members of the WWE Universe who sent in videos to be part of WWE's revamp of Tough Enough back in 2015. Rose worked her way through the competition before she was crowned the runner-up for the females alongside the winner Sara Lee.

Rose has since been training to be a WWE superstar in the Performance Centre over the past two years but was promoted to the main roster back in November alongside Sonaya Deville when the two joined Paige and became known as Absolution.

Rose was also part of the early seasons of Total Divas where she introduced her boyfriend Michael to the WWE Universe. It appears that she has moved on in her personal life since then, especially considering Rose appeared on an episode of Lilian Garcia's Chasing Glory podcast and confirmed that she was actually dating NXT superstar Tino Sabbatelli currently. The couple recently attended the 2018 Hall of Fame induction ceremony together, but many fans are unaware that there are actually eight years between 26-year-old Rose and 34-year-old Tino, there isn't much known about the couple right now since it's thought that they haven't been dating very long.

Ric Flair And Wendy Barlow – 19 Years

Ric Flair has quite the reputation when it comes to his personal life, since he wasn't just the player that he portrayed on WWE TV at the beginning of his career. He actually embodied this character in real life too. This was a huge strain on many of his relationships and one of the main reasons why Flair has been married and divorced four times in his career. He is currently engaged to Wendy Barlow.

The couple met when Flair was still working in WCW and have remained good friends, but after Flair's most recent divorce from Jacqueline Beems, Barlow became Flair's newest partner. Age differences have never been an issue for any of Flair's wives or girlfriends in the past, but there are almost two decades between Flair and his fiancée right now.

Recently it was reported by CageSide Seats that the former World Champion had to pull out of a number of wrestling appearances due to an unknown illness, when his doctor advised him not to travel. Flair has had quite the run-in with illness over the past few months so it makes sense for him to not want to gamble just in case it turns into something much worse.

Sasha Banks And Sarath Ton - 8 Years

Sasha Banks has become one of the most popular female wrestlers in WWE throughout the course of her career and has been at the forefront of Women's Revolution over the past few years. Banks is a former NXT Women's Champion who has been in a relationship with former Independent star Mikaze ever since the couple met and worked together on the indie circuit.

The couple officially tied the knot in the Summer of 2016 in what was a very private ceremony but The Daily Star reported that Sasha felt the need to keep this a secret for a number of months afterward because she was worried about the way the WWE Universe would react if they learned that she was off the market.

Sasha's husband Sarath Ton now works as a seamstress backstage in WWE and has been making her in-ring attire ever since she started working in WWE. Even though the couple is very private about their relationship outside of the company, it is known that there is an eight-year age gap between Sasha and her husband. The couple has been married now for almost two years and the age difference hasn't become a problem in that time.

Kurt Angle And Giovanna Yannotti – 18 Years

Kurt Angle will always be a legend in the squared circle since he's an Olympic hero and someone who managed to win a medal with a broken neck. He was also able to make the leap over from the Olympic grappling to WWE and is a former World Champion. Kurt began to struggle back in 2006 when it came to his dependency on medication and this caused an issue between himself and WWE which led to his release.

Angle's personal life was also affected since his wife Karen went on to start a relationship with TNA star Jeff Jarrett and Angle was then forced to sort his life out alone until he met Giovanna Yannotti when the two were working together on the same movie. Heavy reported that the couple first met while they were both working on 2009 movie End Game and seemingly hit it off since they married in 2012. The couple now has three children together and Angle has returned to WWE TV as the Raw General Manager in recent years, which has allowed the family to find its feet once again. 18 years would be a huge age gap for many women but Giovanna has helped Angle find his feet over the past few years and is one of the reasons he has been able to return to the company where he first found fame.

Michelle McCool And The Undertaker - 15 Years

Michelle McCool is a former WWE Divas and Women's Champion in WWE and a superstar who was married up until 2006 when it's reported that Michelle met WWE legend The Undertaker and the couple started a relationship backstage in the company. The former World Champion was also married at the time, so he divorced his wife Sara Frank the following year and Michelle and Undertaker then went public with the fact that they were in a relationship. The two didn't marry until 2010 and Michelle then retired from WWE in 2011, before giving birth to the couple's only child the following year, a daughter called Faith.

McCool and Undertaker are one of the strangest pairs that the wrestling business has ever thrown together. It probably took a while for the couple to adapt to the age gap, but eight years later, their marriage is still going strong.

Undertaker is still wrestling for WWE when he's allowed to since CageSide Seats reported that Michelle was upset about recent comments made by Rusev ahead of his match with The Deadman in Saudi Arabia. Michelle herself returned to the ring earlier this year as part of the Women's Royal Rumble where she was able to set an elimination record, which proves that she's definitely still got it.

AJ Lee And CM Punk - 8 Years

AJ Lee and CM Punk have become one of the best-known wrestling couples in the world in recent years since the couple has left the wrestling business and found success outside of it. Lee is a former Divas Champion, but she opted to retire from the company back in 2015 just a year after she married Punk. It was the former World Champion who had one of the most talked about departures in the history of WWE as he walked out of WWE following the 2014 Royal Rumble and refused to return.

Punk has since made the move over to a career in UFC and is currently building towards his second match at UFC 225. Lee has become a New York Times best-selling author after releasing her autobiography last year, where she actually talked about the eight-year age gap between herself and her husband. She stated that she refers to him as "grandpa" because of it and that is the name that she has him saved under in her phone. The couple has been married for four years now and the age gap between them has only made them stronger as a couple, if that's possible. Punk had quite the dating resume before AJ but it appears that she has finally toned him down.

Kim Kessler And Randy Orton - 12 Years

Randy Orton has been one of the biggest faces in WWE over the past few decades but it appears that while his professional life has seen him climb up to the top of WWE in his career, he hasn't been as successful in his personal life.

Orton's first marriage to Samantha Speno came to an end back in 2007 when she filed for divorce and Orton was then able to move on to marry Kim Kessler.

Orton has a daughter called Alana from his first marriage but became the stepfather to Kim's four sons when the couple married. Kessler gave birth to the couple's first child together back in 2015, a daughter called Brooklyn Rose, which brings Orton's total to six. Fabwags confirmed that when Orton first met Kessler she was a fan at a WWE Live event. She was a huge fan of Orton and even considered him to be her favorite wrestler. The couple married back in 2015 and many fans have noted that Orton has become a different person over the past few years because he is much more mellow than he once was. Kim seems to have changed The Viper and given the Instagram photos that the couple shares on a regular basis, the age gap definitely hasn't been a problem.

Sable And Brock Lesnar - 10 Years

Many of the couples in WWE see the male in the relationship as the older partner, but it appears that Sable and Brock Lesnar's relationship is a little bit different. Sable had been married twice before she met Lesnar back in 2003 and had a daughter from her first marriage. She divorced Marc Mero after she met The Beast Incarnate and the current WWE Universal Champion and the two then started dating before they married in 2006.

In the years that have followed Sable has given birth to two sons called Duke and Turk and the former Women's Champion appears happy to have stepped out of the spotlight and into the role as a mother. Sable turns 51 later this year but is still looking incredible for her age, even though she hasn't been seen on WWE TV in more than a decade and didn't even return to be part of RAW 25 earlier this year. Pro Wrestling Sheet did share images of the couple celebrating after Brock's UFC 200 win back in 2016 where Sable looked stunning. Brock Lesnar is just 40 years old, which means that his wife is a decade older than him, but after 12 years of marriage, it can be assumed that the couple has managed to work with it.

Velvet Sky And Bubba Ray Dudley - 10 Years

Velvet Sky has been seen as one of the most attractive female wrestlers in the business throughout her TNA career, even though she has still not been able to make it over to WWE. Before she started her relationship with Bubba Ray, Sky was linked to fellow Impact Wrestling star Chris Sabin, but after a very public break up the former Knockout's Champion has moved on to former Tag Team Champion and WWE Hall of Famer Bubba Ray Dudley. Sky herself confirmed this relationship in an interview with Sports Illustrated a few years ago.

Velvet was recently present at the Hall of Fame induction ceremony where Bubba promised that he would marry her later in the year. After the breakdown of her relationship with Sabin and the rumors that Bubba Ray was the reason why the couple went their separate ways, there was a lot for the couple to overcome in the early part of their relationship. The couple also had to contend with the fact that Ray is a decade older than his girlfriend, but this kind of age gap isn't uncommon in society and it hasn't been an issue for the couple in recent years, since Sky's love life has been plain sailing ever since she started dating Bubba Ray.

Reby Sky And Matt Hardy - 12 Years

Matt Hardy is a former WWE Tag Team Champion and a star who has been part of a number of personal life drama's throughout his lengthy career. Hardy was once linked to Lita when the couple worked together as part of Team Xtreme, but after a very public breakup and then a storyline that followed and also included former World Champion Edge, Hardy moved on.

The current Raw Tag Team Champion was also in a relationship with 2005 Raw Diva Search winner Ashley, but when she was moved over to SmackDown Live she started a relationship with Paul London and left Hardy behind. Recent years have been much kinder to Hardy, who has recently rejoined WWE after a stint in TNA where he met his future wife Reby Sky. The couple has had their own fair share of issues throughout their relationship, which even included TMZ reporting that they were both arrested back in 2014 after an argument went too far. The couple is now married with two children and the 12 year age gap isn't considered to be a problem for either of them, especially since it is thought that Reby could be joining Hardy in WWE in the near future.

Peyton Royce And Tye Dillinger - 12 Years

Peyton Royce is widely considered to be one of the women who will bring in the future of the WWE Women's Division over the next few years, but even though Royce was unable to lift the NXT Women's Championship while she was in developmental, she was able to find herself a boyfriend. Royce and Tye Dillinger officially revealed their relationship back in 2017 and confirmed that they had already been dating for more than two years at that point. Sportswallah confirmed their relationship last month after Royce was promoted to the main roster following this year's WrestleMania.

The couple is now both part of the SmackDown Live roster, but haven't been given the opportunity to work together yet. Despite her experience in the wrestling ring, Royce is still only 25 years old, while her long-term boyfriend is 37. This would be a huge age gap for many stars but because the couple spends a lot of time on the road together and bond over the business, it appears that the age gap hasn't become a problem for them over the past few years. It could be a different story when Dillinger is looking at retiring from the company and Royce is still pushing for the top spot with the next generation of female wrestlers in the near future.
