The WWE is filled with wrestlers who are also related. Many of these wrestlers try to keep their family life out of their job, but sometimes, the media has something else to say about it. For one of these wrestlers, it was the cousin of hall of fame wrestler, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson. One of the most renowned wrestlers to ever enter the ring now has a family member trying to make her mark in the WWE. The question is— is she good enough to make a big enough impact or will she forever live in the shadow of her cousin, The Rock?

For Nia Jax, the ladder will most likely come true. Since she signed on to the WWE in 2015, she hasn't made a large impact on the women's wrestling division and is mostly only known for her association with Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson. Throughout her wrestling career, she hasn't had the best luck with landing great matches or even decent storylines. Most of Nia Jax's problems aren't her fault. The WWE doesn't know what to do with her, and at times, they may be pushing her too much to an audience who isn't receptive.

Whatever the future for Nia Jax will hold, it's unlikely that she will make it into a hall of fame or even be remembered for anything more than being Dwayne The Rock Johnson's cousin. The world might just not be ready for someone like Nia Jax. We hope her future serves her well after the WWE.

Too Dangerous For The Ring?

One of the main concerns that come with Nia Jax is her ability to absolutely dominate in the ring. She's a heavier wrestler, and that means that delivering hits will have lasting damage on those she's facing. Reports say that matches against Nia Jax ended in bruised and sore spots where she was hitting them. Even though most fights are choreographed, not everything is fake. When Nia Jax leg drops you, you will feel it. A writer for Wrestling Observer Live had this to say about Nia Jax, "Look, I don’t want to be a jerk right here, but I’m gonna tell you straight out: I will never have a match with Nia Jax,” Alvarez said. “Not that it would ever happen, but if the opportunity ever arose I would not have one. Just like I would not have a match with Sheamus. I would not feel safe in the ring with them.”

It's obvious that, inside and out of the ring, people know the power that Nia Jax has. It is because of her overall mass and ability to use it to her advantage. Some controversy arose when Nia Jax battled wrestler, Baley, in the ring and threw her around like a sack of potatoes. A few instances Baley landed hard on the mat having lasting damage.

Nia Leaves The WWE

In 2017, Nia Jax took an unexpected leave of absence from the WWE. Nobody really knew why, or if she was quitting the WWE forever, they just knew that she wouldn't be shown in the ring for some time. This leave of absence from the WWE was around the same time wrestler, Neville, was also taking a more permanent leave of absence from the WWE. He stated that he was tired of the way the industry was treating him and asked for a release from the WWE.

Many people have speculated that Nia's leave of absence from the company also spawns from a mistreatment from the WWE. Nia Jax has spoken before about how she doesn't feel like a main roster member and how the WWE is misusing her talent. Many people believe that this may have pushed her over the edge to decide to take a leave of absence and see if she wanted to quit entirely or just take a break from the grueling industry. It was only a matter of time since she wasn't getting many matches. There have been other speculations such as her cousin, Dwayne The Rock Johnson, telling her to leave, which we'll get into a bit later.

Responding To The Haters

A YouTuber by the name of Dave Hitchens is a huge wrestling fan and has many videos of him live reacting to WWE matches and unboxing wrestling figurines. During a royal rumble match that featured Nia Jax, Dave Hitchens may have gone too far by body-shaming Nia Jax and calling her fat. Nia Jax didn't want this to go unnoticed in the wrestling community and decided to respond to him on Twitter.

Her message was a good message and reads "I’m guessing he wants attention @GrimsToyShow for his horrible behavior, making fun of my weight (which is completely unoriginal), but what gets me is that he’s shouting degrading things toward women in front of a young girl. Good job buddy..." Her message was followed up with an apology from Dave Hitchens and many people scolding the YouTuber. Overall, it was a good thing Nia Jax responded to the hater, but it isn't something that the likes of Dwayne The Rock Johnson would ever do. Many wrestlers will say to ignore the hate because you're giving them what they want. Nia used this as a platform to spread a message while also defending herself. It's not a common practice and likely wouldn't work in any other situation.

The Rock Controversy

As mentioned before, Nia Jax took a leave of absence from the WWE for unknown reasons. Officially, not much was said on the matter, which sparked interest in the wrestling community to get to the bottom of why Nia Jax randomly took an extended break from the ring. Many people speculated that it had something to do with her cousin, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson. In an interview, Nia Jax was asked about this bizarre rumor and had this to say, “That was the craziest thing I’ve ever heard! The fact that people would think that Dwayne would ever tell me to not do something for the WWE, a place that’s actually given him his start and the reason he is on top of the world, it’s completely false and hilarious.”

She also went on to say, “It has nothing to do with that at all.” Jax said, “It wasn’t something that was that big of a deal. I had actually had an injury that happened to me personally on a flight—an overhead bag fell directly on top of my head while I was on a plane. I was out of it, I was completely out of it. I’m not kidding you.” This statement explains why Nia Jax ended up taking time from the WWE but people still don't believe her story.

Will Never Have A Movie Career

Nia Jax's cousin, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, is known mostly for his career as a wrestler in the golden era of wrestling. Now, he is more known for his roles in big-budget movies like Jumanji, Fast and Furious, Rampage, San Andreas, and many more. You'd be hard-pressed to go to the movies and not see Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson's face in a trailer before the movie. The same can't be said for Nia Jax, however.

A few wrestlers have stretched their entertainment abilities to the outward reaches of Hollywood like John Cena, but no one has made the impact that Dwayne The Rock Johnson has. He went from a wrestler in the ring to the highest-paid actor in the world— all before he was 50 years old. Not many people can say they've done that, especially his cousin, Nia Jax. It's likely Nia will remain in her spotlight in the WWE for as long as she wants but won't return to the spotlight afterward like her cousin did. The Rock was a true entertainer, while Nia Jax is still struggling to even get matches in the WWE. Nia Jax will most likely fall off the face of the earth after her career with the WWE like many other great wrestlers do.

Staying With The WWE

As mentioned before Nia Jax seems to be stuck with the WWE as far as furthering her career is concerned. She doesn't seem to be able to move on to any other form of entertainment like her cousin, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, did. This is why Nia Jax will likely ride out the rest of her time with the WWE and either retire early or return to her modeling career (which will be explained in more detail later). Nia Jax really wants to be the best she can be for the WWE, but it seems like the WWE doesn't know what to do with her.

Another problem with her staying with the WWE is that it seems like the audience isn't responsive to her. They don't fuel her fights, making the WWE question if they should push her or keep her for special occasions like royal rumble. If Nia Jax chooses to stay with the WWE, it will most likely be a short road ahead for her, as people are predicting that she will either quit or be fired by the time 2018 has run its course. Who knows what is in the future for Nia Jax, but we hope it's a bright one.

The Ronda Rousey Dispute

WWE has always been open to crossing over different forms of fighting entertainment like when they invited famous boxer, Floyd Mayweather, to fight The Big Show. They tried to do the same thing when inviting UFC fighter, Ronda Rousey, to have a dispute with the one and only, Nia Jax. The match is set for June 17, and it seems like WWE trying to revive the Nia Jax character one last time. Many people are predicting that the match will end with Nia Jax on the mat and Ronda Rousey victorious.

Ronda Rousey comes from a different breed of fighting (a real one if you will), and it will be interesting to see her in a ring with Nia Jax. It's unknown what the WWE has in store for this match, but they are banking on it to be a big one and bring in numbers. Ronda Rousey is a huge name right now with her signing several movie contracts so the WWE is hoping it will bring eyes in to watch Nia Jax in the ring. Nia Jax is known to tap out quite easily and people are predicting that that is the way for Ronda Rousey to defeat Nia Jax quickly.

WWE Doesn't Know How To Utilize Nia

As mentioned before, the WWE is struggling to figure out how they can utilize Nia Jax to make her a fan favorite. The WWE fanbase is unpredictable as to who they will be more attracted to, and that is especially true when it comes to the women's division. Nia Jax definitely stands out amongst the other women in the division but this plays as a negative for her. Many people don't like change and Nia Jax is a change to the women's division that many do not like.

This is why the WWE is putting her against people like Ronda Rousey and creating strange storylines for her. It's almost as if the WWE wants her to ride off the coattails of her cousin, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson. Either this or they are trying to make her become the next, The Rock. It's unknown what the WWE has in store for Nia Jax, but as people have predicted before, it may not end well for Nia Jax, especially depending on how the fight with Ronda Rousey will turn out. We wouldn't be surprised to see a revival in Nia Jax after the Rousey fight, but it will be short lived for sure.

Out Of Place

As mentioned before, Nia Jax is a different type of wrestler to enter the women's division. Therefore audiences haven't taken to her that well. Nia Jax is out of place mostly because of her sheer size. Many audience members find this offsetting for a woman wrestler, as seen by the comment made by YouTuber Dave Hitchens earlier in the list. Many people don't care about Nia Jax and never really have. She sticks out but in all the wrong ways. Not to any fault of her own, she is only using what the WWE provided her with.

Also, Nia Jax is a pure powerhouse and may suffer from the same effect that someone like The Big Show or Andre The Giant had. The fact that most women in the women's division would never even come close to taking Nia Jax down. WWE likes to stretch the imagination with a lot of things but when it comes to fighters and who will be the obvious victor, they try to keep it more realistic. Therefore pairing her up with other women in a ring makes it hard to find ways for Nia Jax to be defeated. We will likely see the WWE give up on Nia Jax soon.

Association With Her Cousin The Rock

Nia Jax is a great wrestler on her own and an entry in the WWE that doesn't get enough recognition. Most of her recognition comes from her association with her cousin, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson. Having a cousin that is as big a person and is as well known a person as Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson can be hard when you're trying to build a name for yourself. Nia Jax is having trouble separating herself from her cousin in the limelight, responding to people talking about how her cousin told her to take a break from the WWE.

No matter where she goes, Nia Jax will most likely be recognized as Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson's cousin before she's seen as Nia Jax. She's tried to separate herself from her cousin in many ways, especially in wrestling. She's also taken up modeling before she stepped into the ring, which helped her gain some stardom. However, she will never outshine her cousin in or out of the ring. This is something that we are sure she has accepted, and she is living the best life she can. For now, we can cheer her on as she comes around the final bend of her wrestling career.

Strange Storylines

The storyline aspect of WWE is some people's only reason for watching their shows. The behind-the-scenes stuff can add so much backstory to different wrestlers and make them more relatable. Sadly for Nia Jax, the storyline for her wrestling career is a bit weird— not in the fun WWE strange weird kind of way either. In one storyline, they took what YouTuber, Dave Hitchenson, said and put into a fantasy scenario where wrestler Alexa Bliss begins to body shame Nia Jax leading to a feud.

Nia spoke on this as many fans thought this storyline may have offended Nia Jax. Here is what she said, "… I THINK IT’S SOMETHING THAT PEOPLE KNOW BUT THEY DON’T WANT TO TALK ABOUT IT, THEY ALWAYS WANT TO KEEP IT HIDDEN. I FEEL LIKE WE’RE TACKLING IT HEAD-ON AND IT SHOULD BE (TALKED ABOUT). YOUNG WOMEN AND YOUNG GIRLS, AND BOYS, SHOULD ACTUALLY BE HEARING THIS AND SEEING THE CONFLICT THAT WE GO THROUGH AND SEEING SOMEBODY STAND UP FOR THEMSELVES AND NOT HAVE TO ALLOW SOMEBODY TO BULLY THEM, BECAUSE OF THE WAY THEY LOOK, WHAT THEIR SHAPE IS, OR THE COLOR OF THEIR SKIN IS. YOU SHOULD ALWAYS STAND UP FOR YOURSELF. SO I THINK IT’S AMAZING. I’M VERY HONORED TO BE A PART OF IT.”

Post Modeling Career

Before Nia Jax took up wrestling as a career, she was a plus-size model. She would model plus-size clothes and would take different contracts from different companies. While she only did this for a short time in her life, she recalls it as a fond time. Now that she is wrestling, she is no longer modeling but still keeps up with posing and posting pictures of herself on her Instagram. This is likely her outlet for modeling now that she is a full-time wrestler.

Most models wouldn't think to go on to be a professional wrestler after their modeling career, except for Nia Jax that is. Nia loves to promote positive body image. As mentioned before when talking about her body shame storyline, Nia spoke that it is important to get the message of positive body image to young women and girls who are struggling with it, and that is a message she's kept with her since day one. Likely, when she is either let go from the WWE or fired, she should definitely go back to modeling because it's a better way to get her message out there than in a ring.

Nia Will Be Fired/Quit Soon

As you may have seen throughout the article, we've been mentioning that Nia Jax will either be let go soon or fired. This is because she is becoming less and less of an asset for the WWE and more of a nuisance. Either this or Nia will decide to quit the WWE in the coming year. This is because again the WWE isn't utilizing her enough. Stats showed that for the entire month of October last year Nia Jax didn't fight in a single match. She feels underutilized and will likely not take it anymore in the coming year.

Many fans think that WWE is trying to slowly phase her out of the ring by giving her small amounts of matches— but a high quality of matches so it isn't obvious. Many believe that the match against Ronda Rousey will be the deciding factor to if Nia Jax stays or if she goes. 2018 will be a very interesting year for Nia Jax, as it is the year that most people predict she will be fired from the WWE or pick up her things and leave the industry for good this time.

WWE Will Push Her To Her Limits

The WWE is good at pushing its employees to their brink before they decide to leave or the industry fires them. Neville is a great example of the WWE pushing it's wrestlers too far. He left mid-contract for unknown reasons but it’s speculated that he will make his return soon. Many fans speculate that Neville leaving the WWE was due to him receiving lower pay than other wrestlers at his tier. He wasn’t getting as much ring time as them either.

The same can be said for Nia Jax. She hasn't been getting much ring time as of late 2017 early 2018. With the Ronda Rousey match coming up, they are hoping it will make up for the lost time, but Nia may already be on the brink of leaving the WWE. This was never a problem for her cousin, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, because WWE needed him. For a while, The Rock was the face of the WWE and was getting matches left and right. Sadly, the same can't be said for Nia, and that truth may be weighing on her more and more. Only time will tell but everyone is waiting to hear her decision.

Already Too Old For The Business

Nia Jax is getting up there in age, already reaching the age of 34. While it's not the oldest wrestler that has ever been in the ring by a longshot, she does only have a few prime years left before injuries become a bigger problem. Her age may have something to do with her popularity among the audience. The WWE is a company that you have to enter at the right time to make it big. For Nia Jax, it seems like that time passed just out of reach for her. Now, she is on the latter half towards her forties and likely won't last in the WWE for that long.

Her cousin, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, was already retiring from the WWE when he was 32. He made a few more sporadic appearances after that to boost numbers, but he was moving on to other bigger things in life at this age. Perhaps, Nia Jax should take note from her cousin and try something else as a career. She could always go back to modeling or even try at acting. Either way, the industry isn't treating her well, and it may be time to move on like her cousin.
