As you open this list, you're probably sitting down. Perhaps just trying to relax. Now imagine the cops swarm you from all directions, guns drawn, and before you know it you're in handcuffs accused of something that you've never done.
Not only that, but the thing they're saying you did is assault someone. Perhaps the person is someone you hooked up with weeks ago, or perhaps it's your ex-girlfriend who decided to rob you of tens of thousands of dollars and then send the cops after you. In perhaps our most disgusting case, perhaps it's even your granddaughter who is after your inheritance money.
These 15 women all deserved serious ramifications for lying about such a serious issue. Some women brought in multiple men, including one who thought lying about being assaulted by multiple football players at a party (when in reality, she just took them both to the bathroom for some adult activities) would garner sympathy from a potential lover.
They wasted hundreds of thousands of dollars, and countless hours of manpower. In some of our most upsetting cases, the women walk away with a slap on the wrist. Even if they've sent their accuser to jail for years.
And we assure you the women who did get sentenced to serious jail time will make you sick to your stomach, like Jemma Beale, did so because she was found guilty of accusing 15 men over the span of years.
These are 15 Women Who Tried To Play Victim And Got Caught.
15 Sophie Pointon Goes After Taxi Driver After Kebab-Soaked Bill Dispute
Sophie Pointon had aspirations to one day become a police officer. Which may make her inclusion on a list like this all the more sickening. Pointon accused an Asian taxi driver of assaulting her after he refused to accept her payment that had been soaked in a kebab.
Following her accusations, the man, who is also a father of five was arrested and spent hours in jail. It was revealed in September that Pointon was found guilty of lying about the incident and as a result, has been jailed for upwards of 16 months.
It was reported that after police started questioning her story, that Pointon attempted to recant the entire incident. Sorry lady it doesn't work like that!
14 Elizabeth Coast Gets Two Months After Accused Serves Four Years
Elizabeth Coast was panicking back in 2012 when her mother came home and caught her looking at adult material online. Perhaps to help deflect the blame off the conversation, Coast had said that John Montgomery - her neighbor - had assaulted her when she was 10 and he was 14.
John was sentenced to upwards of 7 years in jail and had served 4 years prior to the case becoming clear. Perhaps stunningly, Coast was only sentenced to two months in jail for her falsification as well as being required to pay back $90,000 in damages.
After his release, John stated
"It's just too awful. She can't take it back. She did what she did and she has to deal with the consequences."
13 Wanetta Gibson Admits To Banks That She Lied While Unknowingly Being Recorded
Many of the cases on our list were thankfully sniffed out as false before any serious ramifications came to the man who was wrongly accused. That wasn't the case for Brian Banks who spent years in jail after his classmate, Wanetta Gibson, said that he had dragged her into the school's stairway and assaulted her.
Banks was an aspiring football player and only 17 years old at the time. After serving his sentence of 6 years, he ended up re-connecting with the woman who accused him of the assault. She admitted to him that she had lied, but didn't want to have to give back the $1.5 million she received in the case from the school.
Thankfully Banks had recorded her confession and after a court case, Gibson was required to pay $2.6 million in damages to various sources including the Long Beach School District.
12 Breana Talbott Lies About 3 Men Taking Turns With Her
It's hard to say what Breana Talbott's end goal was. After she was reported missing by her fiance and the police found her car abandoned with her phone, wallet and one shoe nearby, they became understandably concerned that she was kidnapped. Talbott was later found after she entered into a local church half-clothed.
She stated that three black men had abducted her from her apartment and took turns with her in the woods near her house. However after confronted by police, Talbott admitted that she had self-inflicted the marks and made up the entire story.
Talbott has yet to be sentenced, but it is reported that she will be charged with a felony that can be faced with upwards of 10 years in jail.
11 Emma Hall's Lies Cost 18-Year-Old's Life
Emma Hall must have had some vendetta against Luke Harwood (pictured in the middle) that she wanted to enact. She issued a police report saying he had assaulted her, but it was quickly dropped after police became aware that she had lied.
But instead of taking the proper action, Hall was not punished. Instead, two years later she told two of her friends that Harwood had his way with her.
As a result, they went after him and he later passed from his injuries. She, along with her two friends, were found guilty of the murder back in 2013. We're sure they probably weren't too pleased when they found out that Emma had lied about the whole situation, to begin with!
10 Nikki Yovino Lies About Assault For Sympathy
Nikki Yovino was having fun at a party when she caught the attention of two players on the Sacred Heart University football team. She decided to engage in some adult activities with both men in the nearby washroom but later regretted her decisions.
Both men were accused of assaulting her, let go from the team and left the university. It was only later that the police released a report stating that the charges were falsified.
"She admitted that she made up the allegation of assault against (the football players) because it was the first thing that came to mind and she didn’t want to lose (another male student) as a friend and potential boyfriend. She stated that she believed when (the other male student) heard the allegation, it would make him angry and sympathetic to her.”
9 Elizabeth Jones Accuses 10+ Men, Gets 16 Months In Jail
Elizabeth Jones started accusing men of assaulting her at the age of 13. By the time she was finally arrested for it at the age of 22, 11 different men had been investigated by police on charges.
The 11th victim was accused of assault after he and Jones had an argument. The two had an intimate relationship but were not living together. When brought before a judge, Jones was sentenced to 16 months in jail.
When asked about the sentencing, the last victim said
"He became incredibly stressed and when he heard she got 16 months, he was disappointed and felt that the time wasn't long enough, after what she put him through."
8 Shereen Mirza Lies About Assault To Help Academics
Shereen Mirza was stressing out that she had failed her chemistry class at Edinburgh Academy. She decided that perhaps if she told police that she had been assaulted on two different occasions, that she'd be allowed to re-sit her class.
The only problem with Mirza's story is that the man who she said assaulted her was already incarcerated!
Mirza later confessed, saying "Nothing happened. I went to the park and made it up. I wanted another year at school to get to Strathclyde University."
She was sentenced to two years in jail. This definitely wasn't one of the smarter decisions of her life!
7 Jemma Beale Accuses 15 Men Over Several Years, Sentenced To 10
Jemma Beale is perhaps the most despicable woman on our entire list. Over the course of several years, Beale accused upwards of 15 men of assaulting her. She went as far as often self-inflicting the injuries.
In her first instance, it even led to a man being jailed for two years and she was awarded financial compensation for the damages she had suffered. Several of the instances allegedly included multiple men. It was estimated that over 6,400 hours were spent working on cases related to Beale.
She was sentenced to 10 years in jail back in August, with the judge also adding on
"This trial has revealed, what was then not obvious, that you are a very, very convincing liar and you enjoy being seen as a victim. The prosecution described your life as a construct of bogus victimhood."
6 Kate Woodhead Gets Pissed After Boyfriend Ends Relationship – Robs Him And Lies About Assault
Kate Woodhead was not happy that her boyfriend Paul Joseph had decided that their 18-month relationship was over. So she went to the police and said she was fed a Pringles sandwich that was drugged. After which she said Joseph assaulted her.
But after police quickly realized that she was lying, the cases were dropped. That being said, the detective working the case said
"This was a terrible ordeal for him, costing him his home, his job, and his reputation."
Adding salt to the wound, Woodhead also stole upwards of $20,000 worth of goods from Joseph and transferred the ownership of his two cars to her name.
She was eventually sentenced to 12 months in jail for the theft, three years for falsifying a police report (officially called "perverting the court of justice") and three months for committing fraud.
5 Short Fling Almost Ruins The Life Of Matthew Folino
You always read about people online saying be careful about who you choose to engage in a fling with. Let us say it again, BE CAREFUL WHO YOU HOOK UP WITH. Katlyn Webster was obviously enamored with Matthew Folino, but after a brief time together he decided to end it.
A few weeks later, he was awoken to cops banging on his door with guns drawn
"It was scary. I had never been arrested, I’d never been in trouble in that way, but I figured, I was innocent so they’re going to figure this out in a day or so and I’m going to be out of here. They’re going to do their job and this is going to be over, but that never happened.”
Thankfully for Folino, Webster's story that included him assaulting her before two girlfriends broke it up - neither of which collaborated on the story - was quickly found false.
She ended up being sentenced to one year in jail.
4 Natalie Mortimer Says Grandfather Assaulted Her To Try And Get Inheritance Money
Natalie Mortimer was a nurse at the age of 25 and seemingly should have been feeling great about her future career. But she clearly needed money desperately, because in order to increase the chance of her claiming the inheritance money her grandfather was going leave her - she said he assaulted her.
How that logic was going to work out for her, we don't know, but she did later confess to police that she had hoped it would have also increased the amount left to her if he was convicted of a crime.
Lynne Freeland who was the defense lawyer on the case spoke out,
"She is deeply ashamed and is embarrassed by her actions and has described it as greedy, selfish and cruel. Sadly time can't go back and she can't turn back time on this horrendous crime. She understands that this will have torn lives apart."
She was sentenced to 22 months in jail.
3 Stacey Challoner Gets Only 4 Months After Being Impregnated By "Her Attacker"
Stacey Challoner was having an affair on her partner with John Mulholland. John was also having an affair on his wife, with whom he had two children with. To make the situation even more complicated, Stacey then discovered she was pregnant with John's child.
After Stacey's boyfriend - who in the past had physically assaulted Stacey - accused her of an affair, she admitted it as well as saying that John had assaulted her.
John was arrested, blackballed from his community and his life was left in tatters (though to be fair, he did cheat on his wife. Not cool man).
By the time this whole thing was settled in front of the courts, Stacey was sentenced to only 4 months in jail.
2 Biurny Peguero Lies About Assault To Make Friends Feel Bad
Biurny Peguero wasn't happy with the amount of attention she was getting from her friends one drunken evening. She and her girlfriends had been out drinking when she went off and entered a car with William McCaffrey and two of his friends.
After kissing - but then rebuffing William's further advances, he grew upset and dropped her off with her friends.
But after returning to her friends and getting into a fight with them, Peguero said that William had assaulted her because she thought she would then get sympathy.
"She specifically said that she was upset with [one friend] after the fight because [the friend] was angry and did not seem to care about her. [Peguero] said that once ... more people became involved, the lie became too big for her to back out of.”
McCaffrey was sentenced to 20 years in jail and spent upwards of 3 years prior to his case being overturned.
1 Famed Musician Conor Oberst Gets Accused By Stranger
Conor Oberst is a talented musician who has contributed to several great bands over the years. But back in 2014, he had to endure some incredibly difficult nights after he was falsely accused of assault by Joanie Faircloth.
Which led to him being dropped by his label. However after Oberst shot back at the claims, Faircloth backed off including admitting the two had never actually met
"The statements I made and repeated online and elsewhere over the past six months ... are 100% false. I made up those lies about him to get attention while I was going through a difficult period in my life."
