You would be surprised as to how many celebrities over the years have almost been murdered. It's hard to think of any on the spot, but after a little digging, it's surprising to know how many of these people who entertain us, both on screen and on stage, have been involved in near-fatal incidents.

Just think about it— when a celebrity reaches a certain level of fame, then they have to start worrying about the weird stalkers that are out there. That’s why you see some of them with bodyguards. Stalkers can be dangerous; they are not always harmless fans. Sometimes, a stalker gets so fixated on a celebrity, they feel as if they know them, even if they have never met them. That can become a dangerous obsession, especially when the fan disagrees with how the celebrity is behaving.

Intrigued? We know you are! We've put together a list of some surprising celebrities that you wouldn’t believe were almost murdered, and some in the most twisted way.

Sean Bean

We’ve seen Sean Bean plays badass characters in both Games of Thrones, Lord of the Ring, and Troy, just to name a few. It turns out that he can be just as much of a badass in real life, too. In 2011, he was at Hill Bar & Brasserie with Nadia Foster (Playboy Bunny April Summers). A random stranger walked by and made some lewd comments to Foster than Bean didn’t care for. The man walked away from them after Bean told him off, but later in the evening, when Bean went out for another cigarette, the stranger approached him, looking for a fight. The man punched Bean in the eye and then stabbed him in the arm with a piece of glass. Bean got the guy off him with the help of others, and although he was encouraged to go to the hospital, this badass said no, patched himself up, and went back in for another drink.

Ed Begley Jr.

When Ed Begley Jr. was only 22 years old, he was almost stabbed to death. In 1972, Ed Begley Jr. and his friend took a trip on a bus to Gardena California to play poker at the Normandie Casino. It seemed like a normal enough thing to do. At one point, the bus stopped and all the passengers had to get off for a break. A group of teenagers attacked him and his friend. Although his friend got away, Begley was stabbed multiple times and the kids left him there to bleed out. He probably would have been a dead man if a car hadn’t stopped and the person chased away the attackers. Begley was sent to the hospital and when he was there, they realized his lungs had collapsed. Luckily enough, Begley survived.

50 Cent

You may be more familiar with this one. When 50 Cent came out with his song called "Ghetto Qur'an," it detailed some very illegal drug exploits that a drug kingpin in Jamaica, Queens was involved in. That didn’t make the guy very happy at all, so he planned to have 50 Cent killed. Kenneth ‘Supreme’ McGriff wasn’t impressed with 50 Cent and he didn’t want his drug business being exposed through lyrics in a song. In 2000, he was gunned down by nine bullets but surprisingly survived. Even after being shot, 50 Cent refused to work with the police to bring down Kenneth ‘Supreme’ McGriff. The song really affected his career and has even banned him from some studios.

Gordon Ramsay

Gordon Ramsay is a badass himself and he has no problem standing up for what he feels is right. He found himself in Costa Roca in 2011 filming Shark Bait. The point of the show was to expose the people who were hunting sharks for their fins, something he is very much against. He actually went head-to-head with a shark-fin smuggler who made it pretty clear to Ramsay that he had better leave. In a Telegraph interview, Ramsay said, "It is a multi-billion dollar industry, completely unregulated. We traced some of the biggest culprits to Costa Rica. The day before we got there, a Taiwanese crew landed a haul of hammerhead sharks — police searched the boat and found bales of cocaine." It got so bad between the smugglers that they dosed Ramsay in gasoline and then held him and his crew at gunpoint. They were saved by police who showed up and told them to leave the country.

Bjork

This scary story is about a stalker who sent Bjork a package that was meant to spray acid on her face when she opened it. Holy crap, right? Ricardo López was so obsessed with Bjork, he spent a year making videos about her which authorities later found with his dead body. They were videos of a man who spiralled out of control. All you see is a man saying crazy things with lightning bolts painted on his body. “I want to be the most important person who changes her life more than anyone else,” he says in a raspy voice. “Her angel of death.” After his last video, he shot himself in the head. Police were able to intercept the package before it got to Bjork, thankfully, as they found his video collection before the box got to her. This is absolutely terrifying.

Steve Buscemi

Steve Buscemi and Vince Vaughn were hanging out at the Firebelly Lounge, enjoying some downtime while they were in Wilmington, North Carolina, filming Domestic Disturbance. As the story goes, Vince Vaughn was apparently being rude to other patrons and it started a big fight between them and some locals. A fist fight broke out and things got ugly. When Buscemi stepped in to try to stop the fight, he was stabbed in the throat, face, and arm! The cops showed up and sprayed everyone with pepper spray. Thankfully, Buscemi was rushed to the hospital and survived. He ended up returning to New York to recover from his injuries.

Tila Tequila

Yup, we were just as shocked as you are, mainly because we don’t know why anyone would take the time to become obsessed with this girl. She's known as a trashy public figure who has no problem with taking her clothes off or scandalizing herself for fame and money. In 2009, someone did become obsessed with her, but not because they were in love with her. This person's hatred for Tila Tequila reached a whole other level. It started off with death threats, which are frightening in itself. Later on, they broke into her house in the hopes of finding her. When they didn’t, they trashed her home and even locked her dog in the trunk of her car. Although it never escalated from there, it's still a very scary situation.

Justin Bieber

Dana Martin, a prison inmate, hated Justin Bieber so much that he actually hired a hitman from prison to have Bieber strangled with a scarf. He also asked the hitman to castrate Bieber and his bodyguard. No matter who you are, nobody wants to hear that someone wants them dead. The men who were hired to do the job were Tanner Ruane and Mark Staake and were arrested after they crossed the border into Canada. Apparently, they were on their way to Vermont because they had four people on their list to kill and accidentally made a turn into the border instead. Ruane made a call to Martin to explain what happened and the call was recorded. The police had taped conversations about the plan to murder Bieber.

Mick Jagger

You know if the Hells Angels are mad at you, you better watch your back. During the Altamont Speedway Free Festival, the organizers of the concert decided to hire the Hells Angels for security. It was clearly a bad idea. Although the Hells Angels were supposed to be there to protect people, four people ended up dead by the end of the concert. The beating and death of 18-year-old Meredith Hunter was caught on camera. The Rolling Stones were outraged when they found this out. The Hells Angels were supposed to be provide security, not beat people to death. Mick Jagger made his disgust for the organization well known and that angered them. They actually planned on taking a boat to his Hampton home to kill him. The only thing that stopped them was a freak storm that capsized their boat.

Madonna

In 1995, Madonna had a stalker by the name of Robert Dewey Hoskins — a homeless man who was in love with the singer. He repeatedly sent her notes and letters that she never responded to — no big surprise there. When he got sick of her not answering his letters, he scaled the wall of her mansion in search of her. He was apprehended by bodyguards before he found Madonna. He made it known that she was either going to marry him or he would “slash her throat from ear to ear.” He tried a second time to break into her mansion, but this time, he was shot. He was only wounded and was eventually sentenced to ten years in prison for his unkind acts.

Jodie Foster

This is a crazy story that involved Jodie Foster, President Ronald Reagan, and John Hinckley Jr. In 1976, when Jodie Foster was quite young, she was studying at Yale University and had already starred in Taxi Driver. John Hinckley, who was obviously mentally ill, became obsessed with Foster after seeing her in the movie. He went so far as to enroll at Yale where he followed her around. He believed she was his one true love and started putting hundreds of letters and poems under her door. She, of course, never responded. He decided that the only way he could impress her was to imitate a scene like the one he saw in Taxi Driver. His last love letter to Foster stated how he was going to murder President Ronald Reagan, and he certainly try. President Reagan was wounded after being shot at six times. Hinckley was then arrested and put into a mental institution.

Sandra Bullock

There is nothing scarier than having a stalker come to your home. In 2015, Bullock discovered her stalker, Joshua James Corbett, was in her home with her. She locked herself in her bedroom closet and made a 911 call. Prior to that, Corbett had been stalking Bullock on the outskirts of her home for days. He also carried a journal with him that had entries about his obsessive love for her. He had a letter for her when he was in her home that stated, "Always and forever, Love, your husband." Bullock had spotted Corbett in her home and then ran to her bedroom to call the police. Bullock spotted Corbett when she came out of the shower, which makes us wonder how long he was actually there.

Shawn Johnson

Shawn Johnson was an Olympic gold medal winner who also appeared on Dancing with the Stars. At the time, she became the obsession of a stalker. It’s crazy since she was only 17 years old. Robert O’Ryan was in love with her. One day, he jumped the security fence at the studio where they were taping the show to see Johnson. He was apprehended and they found rolls of duct tape, a loaded gun, and many love letters to Johnson in his car. O’Ryan told police that he had moved from Florida to California to be with Johnson. This helped Johnson get the restraining order that she needed to keep him away from her.

Hilary Duff

Maksim Myaskovskiy was only 18 years old when he moved from Russia to the United States to be with his true love, Hilary Duff. The only problem was, she wasn’t even aware that he existed. During his pursuit of Duff, he actually managed to move in with a member of the paparazzi. The cameraman learned about some of the disturbing plans Maksim had for the starlet. One time, in order to get her attention, he threatened to hurt her and her boyfriend at the time, Joel Madden, and then even threatened to hurt himself. He even made the mistake of telling a private investigator that he had plans of murdering Duff at an event she was attending in 2006. He was arrested for stalking and threatening her. Maksim planned on getting a gun and wanted to get rid of Madden because he felt that he was in the way of the love between him and Duff.

Jewel

Jewel had a stalker that planned on killing her because he believed that, “God wants Jewel dead.” Michael Lawrance Kozelka got onto her ranch multiple times in 2009 to get close to the singer. At the time, Jewel was sharing the ranch with her husband and it was a big enough place that you wouldn’t necessarily know if someone was on your property. When they found him on the property, he was asked to leave and to never return. He ignored them and returned again to seek vengeance on Jewel because he was on a “mission from God.” Thankfully, he was arrested and taken off the property. At the time, he had a knife on him and was with a dog. He went away peacefully with the police and a restraining order was put in place.
