Hollywood is often criticized for the double standard regarding its aging stars since men seem to get even more appealing with age, and their female counterparts are unceremoniously put out to pasture. Always in search of the next “It” girl, it seems that the second a starlet begins to show the signs of aging, an even younger version of her is pushed into the limelight. While Nicole Kidman was once the hottest Australian actress in Hollywood, all of a sudden she was seemingly replaced by the much younger Aussie hottie, Margot Robbie. This is standard practice in the entertainment industry, so much so, that numerous starlets have turned to plastic surgery to try and stave off the signs of aging.

Another double standard in Hollywood is the fact that men seem to look more distinguished when they have a strong and defined nose, but women are encouraged to get a nose job to try and adhere to the look that’s expected of a celebrity beauty. Numerous actresses have gone under the knife to diminish the look of their schnoz, even those that had already legitimized themselves in the eyes of fans and the industry. Jennifer Grey became known all over the world during her portrayal as Baby in the iconic film, Dirty Dancing, and yet she chose to get a nose job after achieving fame. When she appeared on Dancing With the Stars, she was virtually unrecognizable to fans that have seen the film countless times. Another starlet that chose to reduce the look of a prominent nose was Ashlee Simpson. As the younger sister of Jessica Simpson, fans were drawn to how relatable she was and even appreciated the fact that her nose wasn’t picture perfect. Her debut album was a huge hit with songs like “Shadow” and “Pieces of Me,” but quickly after her album took off, Simpson went straight away to get her nose done. Regardless of the pressure to look the part, there are some Hollywood starlets that have refused to alter their noses. Hoping to let their talent shine through, regardless of how big their noses are. Check out our list of the 15 celebrities with the biggest noses in Hollywood, and see how even the biggest schnoz can be overlooked with the right amount of talent.

15. Gisele Bundchen

When it comes to models and fashion icons, it’s surprising how the tastes of the public can change over the years. While Marilyn Monroe was once thought of as the pinnacle of beauty, her time came and went and people started to gear towards a much skinnier look. The same can be said for supermodels since there was a time when the heroin chic look was all the rage and no one could possibly be considered more beautiful than Kate Moss. This all changed when Gisele Bundchen entered the modeling scene, and many have claimed that she revolutionized the modeling industry. From her signature walk to her strong featured look, Bundchen brought true glamour to being a Victoria’s Secret model. While they were once thought of as just catalog models without true legitimacy, Bundchen proved that being a Victoria’s Secret Angel was much more than just catalog modeling. Yet, the interest factor of Bundchen’s modeling career is the fact that she doesn’t have the stereotypical look of a supermodel. Her strong facial features and ultra prominent nose makes for almost a manly look with the disproportionate schnoz. Yet, her husband, Tom Brady, doesn’t seem to mind, and millions of fans around the world has been able to see beyond it as well.

14. Lady Gaga

When Lady Gaga was first introduced to audiences, she resorted to outlandish ensembles and over-the-top stage performances in order to gain the attention of fans and critics alike. She used this tactic as a means to hype up her popularity and standout from all the other pop stars in the music industry. Yet, she recently underwent a style transformation and has overhauled her past controversial looks in favor of a more classic and demure style. Known more by her real name, Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta, she has worked closely with celebrity stylist, Brandon Maxwell, in the past year to try and have people focus more on her talent than her outrageous antics. However, now that the focus is no longer on the meat dresses and Elton John-styled accessories, people have taken a deeper look at her actual appearance. One of the most surprising elements is her disproportionate schnoz. It is almost overwhelming on her face, and makes people wonder whether or not the whole reason for the crazy getups were to try and distract from her giant schnoz.

13. Mayim Bialik

When Mayim Bialik was first introduced to audiences as a child actress, audiences fell in love with her wild curls and quirky facial features. Her small role in the iconic film, Beaches, is often thought of as everyone’s favorite portion of the movie. Her enthusiastic personality and frenzied spirit was so appealing that it just made her that much more likable, regardless of what her outward appearance was. When she continued acting in her youth during the hit series, Blossom, she again stole the hearts of audiences, but afterward she seemed to dip out of the limelight and people were left wondering whatever happened to Mayim Bialik. It wasn’t until she was cast in the hit series, The Big Bang Theory, that people got to see Bialik all grown up and ready to get back to work as an actress. She couldn’t have picked a more fitting role to help introduce her back to fans since her role as Dr. Amy Farrah Fowler seemed to be tailor-made for her. As in real-life, her character is also a neuroscientist, which is what Bialik was doing when she took a hiatus away from Hollywood. The fact that she stepped away from acting to obtain an advanced degree shows that there are more important things in life for Bialik than the superficialities of Hollywood. She still has the same quirky features from her youth, but somehow the big schnoz has helped to mold to her Dr. Amy Farrah Fowler character and is just another reason why we all still love Mayim Bialik.

12. Ellen DeGeneres

Ellen DeGeneres has never been shy about pointing out the fact that she hasn’t exactly fit the standard of beauty in Hollywood. While other celebrities like Kim Kardashian try to desperately hide the embarrassing photos from their younger years, DeGeneres has been known to flaunt them at random on her talk show, The Ellen DeGeneres Show. From her old prom photo to videos from her years in standup where she sported a mullet, she is unapologetic about the look she has donned throughout the years. Nowadays, she keeps her hair short and blonde and lets her blue eyes sparkle as the focal point of her face. Yet, it also draws attention to her nose. It’s almost ironic that she would be picked as a spokesperson for CoverGirl Cosmetics. You wouldn’t immediately assume that DeGeneres would be the right fit for a cosmetics campaign, especially since she isn’t known for being a girly girl that enjoys makeup. Yet, the commercials featuring her and Sofia Vergara have been met with a favorable response, and she’s often promoting the products on her daytime talk show. Perhaps this is the reason why she was chosen since it gives the brand a lot of free publicity. This seems like a much more reasonable explanation than the brand giving her the spokesperson role because of her incomparable beauty.

11.  Barbra Streisand

Barbra Streisand is in a unique position in Hollywood since she gained the height of her popularity when music artists weren’t scrutinized as much on their appearance. These weren’t the days of Katy Perry and Beyonce, and artists in the ‘60s were revered for their talent rather than their sexualized performances. Artists like Janis Joplin and Mama Cass proved that artists didn’t have to be a sex symbol to become iconic in the music industry, and this was a definite advantage for Barbra Streisand. On top of the era in which she gained the majority of her fame, Streisand also had huge success in films that celebrated her unique look. From Funny Girl to Yentl, Streisand was able to make her signature schnoz part of her appeal rather than something that would hinder her career. As one of the few celebrities that can boast being an EGOT, Streisand has won every prestigious award that can be won in the entertainment and music industry. This ultra talented starlet has proven that it doesn’t matter what you look like if you can allow your talent to shine through.

10.  Glenn Close

Glenn Close is an actress that has had quite an extensive career, and can boast appearing in some of the most iconic films of the entertainment industry. The role that was arguably her most notable was Alexandra “Alex” Forrest in the 1987 film, Fatal Attraction. Starring opposite one of the hottest leading men in Hollywood at the time, Close didn’t exactly fit the stereotype as the beautiful leading lady in film. Yet, she more than pulled off the believability in the role, and even garnered an Academy Award nomination for Best Actress for her portrayal in the film. The strong characteristics of her facial features have helped her more than once in obtaining pivotal roles to help define her career, including the 1988 film, Dangerous Liaisons, and the 2011 film, Albert Nobbs (where she played the role of a woman pretending to be a man). Close obviously never paid much attention to the standards set forth by Hollywood for actresses to look a certain way, and has seemed to embrace her schnoz over the years. This is actually quite brave of Close since her nose features a noticeable hook feature that points downward in an obvious way. Regardless, she hasn’t used this as a crutch in any way, and it definitely hasn’t stopped her from being a highly acclaimed and celebrated actress in Hollywood.

9.  Sarah Jessica Parker

Before Sarah Jessica Parker became best known for her role as Carrie Bradshaw in the Sex and the City series, she was hard-pressed to find a truly legitimate role in Hollywood. In fact, one of her most memorable roles on the big screen prior to her hit HBO series was the role of a witch in Hocus Pocus. It was almost ironic for her to attain that role since her big nose was stereotypical to the Wicked Witch of the West from The Wizard of Oz. In fact, her nose was so noticeable that it was even written into the HBO series in a number of episodes of Sex and the City. In an episode where Carrie brought home an ultra handsome model after a runway show, the pair cuddled up in bed but the model couldn’t help but address her big nose. Nowadays, people have seemed to overlook her big schnoz and she has become one of the most celebrated celebrities in Hollywood. Whether it was the popularity of her character or her incredible fashion sense, Parker has proven that the only thing bigger than her nose is her favorable public persona.

8.  Laura Carmichael

Actresses often think they’ve hit the lottery once they’re cast in a role that makes them appear desirable. Everyone wants to get the role of the leading lady, and actresses know the worth of being cast in a role that makes them appear favorable in the public eye. Yet, the opposite is true as well. When an actress is cast in a role where she is supposed to play a character that is unattractive, it can be difficult to stray from that persona offscreen. Laura Carmichael is a perfect example of this since she’s best known for playing the unattractive Crawley sister in the hit TV drama, Downton Abbey. In comparison to Lady Mary and Lady Sybill, Carmichael’s character, Lady Edith, was seen akin to a troll on the series. Her looks were played down to say the least, and her big nose was made to look even bigger whenever possible. Offscreen, she was able to use a few contouring tricks to try and diminish the look of her giant schnoz, but fans already had it in their heads that she was arguably the most unattractive actress on the show.

7.  Kaley Cuoco

Kaley Cuoco is one of the highest paid actresses on TV, for her role as Penny on the hit series, The Big Bang Theory. Yet, her appearance on the show has given rise to a large number of critics that claim that she doesn’t quite fit the role of the ultra hot neighbor that first moved into the building during the first episode of the series. In fact, many have described her looks as “manly” and feel that the showrunners could have chosen a much more attractive actress to fulfill that role. Over the years, a number of publications have also speculated on what operations she has undergone since first starting out in the business, especially since so many photos from her earlier years show a very different looking Cuoco from what fans are used to seeing now. After years of denial, Cuoco finally opened up about her nose operation but claimed that it had nothing to do with improving her appearance. Like all celebrities that have undergone nose operations, Cuoco claimed that it was “due to medical complications” in regards to breathing problems. Yet, photos show that her nose was much larger prior to the operation. What’s ironic is that she still has a quite sizable nose, and the fact that her eyes are set close together doesn’t help the fact that her nose is the first thing people see when they look at her face.

6.  Lea Michele

Lea Michele is an actress that is fortunate enough to be thought of as multitalented, and has even branched out into the music industry as an artist in her own right. This is highly because of her most notable role in the hit series, Glee, since she is able to show off her singing chops on a regular basis. Fans have already fallen in love with her voice on the TV series, so it was a natural progression for her to release her own music outside of the show. Unfortunately, a huge part of her rise to fame as a standout amongst the Glee cast was because of the tragedy involving her then-boyfriend, Cory Monteith. In 2013, Monteith died from a heroin and alcohol overdose and it pretty much thrust Michele into the spotlight as the surviving loved one. Now that she’s already reached the height of her fame, Michele doesn’t seem to want to change her signature look. While she does have quite a sizeable nose, it seems to have become part of her character both on and off the screen and fans don’t seem to want her any other way.

5.  Anne Hathaway

Hollywood is known for the ability to make or break an actor just by the roles that they’re given and the media attention that actor receives. Just as a role can shoot an actor into the spotlight, sometimes the increased media attention can cause the public to quickly turn on them in a way that makes some almost feel sorry for the celebrity. This is exactly what happened to Anne Hathway since she was once thought of as America’s Sweetheart, and then all of a sudden she became one of the most hated celebrities in Hollywood. Recognizing the drastic change of public opinion, Hathaway was quoted in an interview with Huffington Post about her decision to take a step back from the limelight and said, “My impression is that people needed a break from me.” People were no holds barred when it came to their criticism of Hathaway, and even her looks were fair game. With her newly shortened hair, people began remarking about her overly large nose and sometimes it got pretty nasty. Perhaps it was a good thing that she decided to take a break from acting for awhile, and hopefully she will grow out her hair again to take the focus away from her more prominent facial features.

4.  Claire Danes

Claire Danes has had quite a remarkable acting career, and has had the fortune of making just the right choices in the roles she’s accepted. While her television series, My So-Called Life, didn’t last beyond a single season, Danes had the privilege of acting in one of the most iconic coming-of-age television shows in history. Both her and Jared Leto came out of My So-Called Life, and people still remember the episodes and storyline with great fondness. Danes was the perfect actress to cast in the lead since she had an odd kind of beauty that was made even more evident by her large nose. The character wouldn’t have been the same if she were played by a stereotypical Hollywood beauty, and the fact that she was so well received in this role probably helped to propel her career moving forward. She starred opposite Leonardo DiCaprio in Romeo + Juliet, and she is now the lead in the hit series, Homeland. Throughout the years, she has never touched her signature nose. Perhaps she realizes that being an odd beauty and having a signature look means more than having the perfect little button nose like so many other Hollywood starlets.

3.  Jennifer Aniston

Jennifer Aniston has become the go-to actress for romantic comedies on the silver screen in recent years, but she is still best known for her role as Rachel Green on the hit television sitcom, Friends. What’s ironic about Aniston’s role is that there were a number of flashback episodes and scenes where she played a younger version of herself prior to the nose job she had to supposedly fix her “deviated septum.” This is a standard excuse for many who opt to get a nose job, and one that Rachel Green used to explain why she opted for plastic surgery. This is actually quite ironic since the real Aniston is known for having a larger nose than that of her fellow female Hollywood actresses, and it’s becoming even more prominent with her getting up there in years. With age, oftentimes the facial features become more prominent, and that is definitely the case with Aniston. In recent paparazzi photos, Aniston can be seen looking quite a bit different than her Rachel Green days. It’s obvious that she is doing a bit of tweaking here and there, whether it’s fillers or Botox. Only time will tell whether or not she will decide to get a nose job to help tone down the aging process.

2.  Uma Thurman

Uma Thurman is an actress that has always fully embodied the epitome of an odd beauty in Hollywood. While she has often played the leading lady in her films, there was always something unique about her look. In the Kill Bill series, audiences got to see how lanky she could look and even got a close up shot of her giant feet onscreen when an entire scene went by with the camera staring at her toes while she tried to mentally will one of them to wriggle. Yet, it was Pulp Fiction that first drew attention to her very apparent giant schnoz. The short black hairstyle definitely didn’t help in minimizing the look of her nose, and the scene where she snorted coke up her nose wasn’t a big help either. While the film was a huge success and shot Thurman to the top of the food chain in Hollywood, it was undeniable for fans and critics alike to see that she obviously has a big nose. Regardless, it didn’t hurt her from getting roles (especially since she created a lasting bond with Quentin Tarantino and he began casting her as a favorite), and she doesn’t seem to have any plans in the near future to change her signature look.

1.  Sofia Coppola

Hollywood often likes to keep it in the family when it comes to their most favorite celebrities (either that or talent really does run in the genes). Time and time again, it is surprising to see that so many celebrities are actually the offspring of some of the greatest names in the entertainment industry. Bryce Dallace Howard is the daughter of famed filmmaker, Ron Howard, and even Angelina Jolie is the daughter of the highly acclaimed actor, Jon Voight. So, it should come as no surprise that Sofia Coppola is the daughter of the iconic, Francis Ford Coppola. Best known for his work on The Godfather film series, Sofia Coppola actually starred in the third installment, The Godfather Part III. While many have argued that the third film was by far the worst in the series, it definitely put Sofia Coppola on the map in regards to entering Hollywood. She has since created a name for herself in her own right and even won an Oscar for her screenplay, Lost in Translation. Yet, many don’t remember her for her father’s work or even for writing the screenplay that introduced the world to Scarlett Johansson, and this is because of her giant schnoz. It’s difficult to get past such a big nose on such a beautiful and talented woman. Yet, if she ever wants to opt for a nose job, it’s pretty clear that she has the cash to get it from The Godfather stash.
