After 14 years of marriage, Tia Mowry and Cory Hardrict are going their separate ways. The Sister, Sister actress filed for divorce in Los Angeles on Tuesday and shared the news on social media.
"I have always been honest with my fans, and today is no different. I wanted to share that Cory and I have decided to go our separate ways," she wrote on Instagram alongside a black and white photo featuring her and Cory.
"These decisions are never easy, and not without sadness. We will maintain a friendship as we co-parent our beautiful children,” she continued. Cory and Tia share a son, Cree, 11, as well as a daughter, Cairo, 4.
The former couple originally met while filming Hollywood Horror. They became engaged in 2006 before tying the knot in 2008 in California.
Tia didn’t provide a reason for the break-up in her Instagram post. But she emphasized she was grateful for their time together.
"I am grateful for all the happy times we had together and want to thank my friends, family and fans for your love and support as we start this new chapter moving forward in our lives,” she added.
According to PEOPLE, Tia’s filing cites “irreconcilable differences” as the cause of divorce. She didn’t provide a date of separation but asked for joint physical and legal custody of their kids.
The pair reportedly have a prenuptial agreement, and Tia asked the court to terminate spousal support. The former child star has a reported net worth of $4 million, while Cory has $3 million to his name.
Following the news of their split, speculation began brewing that infidelity may have played a part. However, Cory has spoken out to deny that he cheated on his estranged wife.
As per E! News, the actor has received a ton of comments on social media accusing him of being unfaithful. One recent comment on a post said he “cheated,” to which Cory responded, saying, “Lies!”
So far, neither Cory nor Tia have provided any further details into the cause of their break-up or their divorce proceedings.
