They started out with short stints in television series like Californication with David Duchovny and Royal Pains but once Ezra Miller hit the big screen with We Need to Talk About Kevin, it didn’t take long for everyone to know their name.

Miller uses they/them pronouns and came out as queer in 2018. They have also spoken out during the #MeToo movement. Though they have received numerous nominations for their work, in addition, they have had clear support from the LGBTQ community, earning awards from The Society of LGBTQ Entertainment Critics.

They began taking opera lessons to control a speech impediment as a child and as soon as 2008’s Afterschool was released, Miller dropped out of school at the age of 16.

At just 29-years-old, the actor and musician has skyrocketed to fame with some of the biggest blockbusters in the past decade and more than 30 acting credits in their young career. According to Celebrity Net Worth, Millers net worth is currently around $4 million.

Their success hasn’t been without controversy though. Miller has been arrested for drug possession and most recently, for a physical confrontation with patrons in a bar in Hawaii and later, a restraining order from the couple they were staying with earlier this year.

We Need to Talk About Kevin – $1.7 Million

Miller plays teen Kevin, in a 2011 film about a mother, struggling to love her disturbed child as he says and does dangerous things according to IMDb. In one of Miller’s first breakout films, they star alongside Tilda Swinton and John C. Reilly.

The Perks of Being a Wallflower – $17 Million

In a film about a freshman taken under the wing of two seniors to learn about the ‘real world’, Miller plays Patrick, among a star-studded cast including Dylan McDermott, Kate Walsh, a young Julia Garner, Emma Watson and Paul Rudd.

Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore – $67 Million

With a release date one week ago, the numbers are most likely skewed for the Harry Potter prequals third installment. Miller returns as Credence Barebone in another witches and wizards adventure joining Jude Law as Dumbledore and a return cast of Eddie Redmayne and Katherine Waterston according to Biography Scoop.

Trainwreck – $110 Million

By 2015, Miller is already landing small roles in big movies. Directed by Judd Apatow and written by Amy Schumer, the film follows Schumer as a commitment-phobic career woman who finally meets a good guy (Bill Hader). Though it’s a small role, they show varying talent in the comedy vs serious roles played in the past.

Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald – $159 Million

The second installment of J.K. Rowling’s prequel to the Harry Potter saga isn’t as successful as the first, but its popularity is still clear. Miller reprises their role as Credence Barebone and the choice to star in the film trilogy is a given, based on the success of Potter films before it.

Justice League – $229 Million

In Zack Snyder’s 2017 film, Miller returns as The Flash with Ben Affleck as Batman, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman and Jason Momoa as Aquaman among others. Though Justice League didn’t receive a lot of positive feedback, it was the first DC film that The Flash/Barry Allen took a leading role. The film caused so much controversary, Snyder re-filmed several scenes, created his own vision and released Zack Snyder’s Justice League in 2021.

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them – $234 Million

The series looks at pre-Harry Potter days and the adventures of writer Newt Scamander in a secret community of witches and wizards. Miller stars as Credence Barebone, who transforms into Obscurous, creating havoc among New York City. They join Colin Farrell, Eddie Redmayne and Katherine Waterston in the J.K. Rowling -written film.

Suicide Squad – $325 Million

Already established as the best person for The Flash character, Miller takes the role in a quick cameo one year after their debut in the Batman v Superman film. When a secret government agency recruit some of the most dangerous super-villains, their mission is to save the world. Again, bumping elbows with Hollywood A-listers, Miller co-stars with Will Smith, Margot Robbie, Jared Leto and Viola Davis.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice – $330 Million

Appearing for the first time as The Flash, Miller joins a leading cast including Ben Affleck as Batman, Henry Cavill as Superman, Amy Adams and many other A-list actors. Batman takes on Superman when his actions are questionable. Of course, a team of DC heroes are needed along the way.
